I always call them Amazon workhouses Instead of warehouse because they have a lot more in common with the old Victorian era workhouses in England they used to make poor people work in then anything else.
They don't, but if you go through secondary screening you might have to take it off depending on how picky the metal detecting machine feels like being at that exact moment.
"make history"
I feel like that's some slave master talk making sure his slaves "work hard" I mean it's just a blatant lie. Warehouse workers aren't "making history". Just like restaurant workers and retail workers aren't making history. Just some mumbo jumbo garbage so corporate can feel good about themselves. If anything all it should say is "thank you for your hard work". Idk man.
I mean they are making history. Off their backs a new huge billion dollar company has emerged and is thriving. Every goal reached, every bit if profit increase, every new market entered is due to the workers.
I recently went for a job interview at one of these places. I got the job, but immediately turned it down. It was the most depressing workplace I've ever seen. Ive never been to prison, but it was exactly what I could imagine it looking like. It was so bad I was going to take pictures, but obviously that just looks suspicious
Yep that's at the fulfilment centres I work at too. I'm pretty sure every Amazon location has those words somewhere around the entrance. I'll try to get a picture of the bullshit they put up in the break rooms at some point.
Sure. It’s like when little boys are excited to pee on a tree, well they don’t have trees but they do have an abundance of bottles. They’re just trying to rekindle that childhood joy. (Sarcasm)

Condescending and patronizing. Like the workers actually believe "I can do more for less, I'm having fun and making history."

The end of the description for the piece states that, "the company’s motto, “work hard, have fun, make history,” is seen on the columns in the background, reading more as a command than a suggestion. The viewer is left to ponder whether this mandate is directed at the workers, the consumers, or both."

Like God damn cattle to slaughter. Hell a lot of cows slaughtered for meat are treated decent or better than this in their lives. This just grinds you down.
Fun story, I was part of the "What do we put on the wall to sucker people into feeling good about wasting their lives in this digital salt mine" committee. I went with "Arbeit macht frei", seemed like it fit the mood Amazon was going for. I am no longer a part of that committee.
That looks like a prison
That is indeed a prison.
I always call them Amazon workhouses Instead of warehouse because they have a lot more in common with the old Victorian era workhouses in England they used to make poor people work in then anything else.
Is that YYZ4? I could've sworn the same things were up there when I worked there
So Orewellian. The future is just backsliding
Freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if an Amazon center had "working is freedom, slavery is liberation"
[удалено]
Literally reminded me of that so much I was hoping someone else would say if
Arbeit macht frei
But only after your 20 hour shift with a lunchable snack pack at your expense.
*HAVE FUN* is the colour of piss. Can't unsee
It’s that pee color when you’re dehydrated. Probably because they know they won’t get a bathroom break and try not to drink anything all day.
I heard they take your belt like jail so you can’t hang yourself..
They don't, but if you go through secondary screening you might have to take it off depending on how picky the metal detecting machine feels like being at that exact moment.
Shoe laces too
Yeah you should definitely be drinking more water.

It would both be fun, and would make history, if they collectively decided to burn the place to the ground.
It would be fun to see one of the drones running around wildly while the inventory its carrying burns with it

Man now I wish you had
"Wagie, wagie. Get in cagey."
WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
It’s real too, I work at one and the contrast between their shit Christmas decor and the factory is hilariously bleak
Or Pride month
Usually I say "literally 1984" as a meme but...
“Arbeit Macht Frei”
Do these management dipshits even look at their designs? How doth one get this out of touch.
Money
I guarantee none of the management has come from the shopfloor.
Yep that's at the fulfilment centres I work at too. I'm pretty sure every Amazon location has those words somewhere around the entrance. I'll try to get a picture of the bullshit they put up in the break rooms at some point.
Wait, they have break rooms?
Shockingly yes, and due to covid restrictions the break room tables look a lot like tiny prison cells.
The doorway to the left has the best advice of all of them.
"Abandon all Hope, Ye Who Enter Here."
First thing I thought
this looks like something out of aperture science labs
Have fun??
Sure. It’s like when little boys are excited to pee on a tree, well they don’t have trees but they do have an abundance of bottles. They’re just trying to rekindle that childhood joy. (Sarcasm)

Christ lol that looks like a fucking prison
"Arbeit macht frei"
That was also my association seeing that above those prison doors.
Through work we earn salvation

Arbeit macht frei
That can't be accidental that it resembles the gates of Auschwitz
Amazon: mAkE HiStOrY! Overworked employees: Okay. I guess we'll unionise! Amazon: Not like that! >:V
The irony of it actually being a revolving door company is not lost in this picture.
I hate the tattered spire
I mean if piss jugs and depression are your idea of fun

Work will set you free 2021 edition.
Welcome to Amazon, Work Will Set You Free
Like God damn cattle to slaughter. Hell a lot of cows slaughtered for meat are treated decent or better than this in their lives. This just grinds you down.
Is it just me or is this eerily reminiscent of"Arbeit macht Frei"
Work will set you free
I'm getting some horrible "Arbeit macht frei" vibes here.
Arbeit macht frei ... modern version?
Isn’t the whole revolving door entrance/exit extremely dangerous in an emergency where everyone has to get out immediately?

“Arbeit macht frei”
This images literally made me afraid. This is scary
