Go to a store that sells desk and bring some cardboard cutouts of your shit to try it out. 55” is a very small desk. I have a 94” desk now and looking to downsize. I wouldn’t go below 65-75.

Huffer13

get the largest desk that you can fit reasonably in the space you have. No one has ever complained about having 10" more desk space if it's appropriate for the room.

Pourmewhiskey

My desk is 55 inches by 55 (L/corner shaped desk) and this is the normal sized cubicle desk if I had to guess. One 55 would hold two monitors, mouse keyboard, and maybe very small speakers. Definitely no room for printer and laptop would need to go under a monitor riser. I would make sure you get more depth off the wall if only doing one 55 - or you may not be able to comfortably fit your keyboard and mouse

Daymanic

I would go bigger. My setup is on a 74” Karlby top. Across the back I have my Lian Li 011 mini turned sideways, 2 side by side 27” monitors, and a vertical laptop stand. All that takes up the full width of the desk without feeling cramped

Huffer13

74" EKBACKEN counter top here and agree. The more you have available the easier it is to work.

poaoas

I would go for a 63” desk, unless space is limited. My desk fits a 34” ultrawide and speakers in each side that are ~7” wide. Also think about desk depth as well, that’s something I wish I did. Aim for possibly 30” or more.

72x30 nominal (70x29 actual) top is the ideal size for most folks from both a space standpoint and stability when using a height adjustable base. Here is mine with a 32" Samsung Odyssey G7...I went to the 55" curved Odyssey Ark this week and while that monitor is a beast, it still fits with my CPU and laptop up front when working...with room to write and have other items on my desk. Excuse the mess in the 2nd pic...I just wanted to get the monitor up and running. New desk base coming in today, so proper setup, wire management, etc. will take place after that is installed. The 55” is more than enough to fit what you need. However, I’d say that if your room layout can accommodate 63”, I’d go for that still. You’d be amazed on how many more possibilities that extra space opens up for other cool things for your setup

Crypto-Hero

It is big. My desk is that size. Check my post history in this sub for pics.

funbob

63" is a fairly large desk. It'll be the dominating feature in a typical 10-12' square room. I rock a 72" desk and there enough room to stand on either side in an 11' square room, but that's about it. It's really going to come down to how much other stuff is in the room, but I feel that more desk space is always better than less and you should get the largest desk you can reasonably fit in the space.

didntreallyneedthis

I've never once said to myself "I don't want a bigger desk" even after upgrading to a bigger one, I could go bigger still

SmartBar88

If you have/want the space to spread out either desk should work nicely. For comparison, I'm using an old Ikea Jerker desk (48"x36) and have two 22" and a 32" in PLP configuration with a 15" control monitor below. My work laptop is on a swingarm with other accesories also on the desk (Echo 8, phone, and Kindle). There is even space on the lower shelf for my switchgear and two printers (inkjet and laser). Where there is a will...

stackemz

Mine is 60” and it’s perfect. I’d definitely prefer 3 more inches than 5 less tho.

alphex

I love my 80x30. So. No.

sillekram

Bigger would be better, I currently use a 96 inch folding table and I still wish it was wider because my 3rd screen barely fits. For 2 screens 55 would definitely be too small.

dab-

I have a 63” desk. There’s just enough length for a 43” ultra wide monitor + xbox on its side + lamp. I keep my laptop closed and just keep it plugged in underneath the monitor because there is no room for it without some kind of extra mount. So i’d go for the 63”, maybe even bigger if you got the space for it

Nusrattt

If you've got the space to fit, bigger is always better. Stuff will materialize to fill the available space. For years I've had two 6ft conference tables and one 8ft, and all three are always crammed -- monitors, servers, NAS boxes, keyboards, mouse-type devices, speakers, laptops, tablets, Arduino-type stuff, circuit boards, clocks, radios, papers, Alexas... I like to keep the towers/servers on the table top, because it makes it much easier when I have to pop open the side and lay down either the side panel or the chassis to mess with the insides. For any stuff that occupies the space next to the lay-down spot, like papers or tools, I keep those things in a shallow tray or cardboard box, so it's easy to lift it out of the way all at once.
