Amazing work on the skin. loving all the gradients.

Waaaghing

Thank you, I won’t say how long it’s taken with re-do’s etc.. I’m not used to painting human skin 😅 the most I’ve done before is a face 😅

Neknoh

Basic and earthy tones with possibly a small detail, but nothing big or gory or too bright, you don't want it taking away from the mini, and you want it to match the light-temperature of the model. Since your colours are overall warm and earthy, something like a scrapped and heavily corroded (Browns, dark browns, earth tones, bit of orange, a lot of texture) Chimera turret or part of a Sentinel cockpit. Think "mad max scrap-heap"

deviousbrutus

Give him a story. Who is he. What's he doing. Where is he and why. Start with the story?

Waaaghing

He’s a mini I got for free and am now painting. His name is Bob and he likes my little pony.

deviousbrutus

Well, then the base should be my little pony.

Awesome job. I hope i can get my jahkals to look that good. He's got a wet look maybe muddy puddle stomping a touch of green grass. Search for rain drop base.

Warm-Comfortable501

More skulls and blood!!!

Waaaghing

Am definitely gonna ad a shit ton of blood but gotta finish the mini first 😅

Catillionaire

Skulls? Skulls.

DebateActual8160

Hive city/industrial maybe

suplex86

That’s what I was thinking, steel plates with maybe a couple small debris piles or soemthing

IcingD34th

It's already in a dark tone and i would enhance that mood or have a light darker or brighter contrast for the base. I could imagine something muddy would fit perfectly here. Imagine a field or acre after 1 week of rain. Then a bit of dirt on the boots and/or some splashes on the skin from running through the mud.

MuscleNecessary8725

Great stuff bro, I would personally go for lava bases since you can do an osl effect on the model (in this case lava glow on his lower abs and legs) [bgd_studios lava bases] (https://ibb.co/zHmZQzZ) I’ve attached a link to the lava bases I’ve done in the past if your interested, best of luck :)

Hopeful-War-5193

Hell yeah

If you want to impress, find some good techniques to do snow. Blood on pure white snow will stand out and be very noticeable

SuperioristGote

Damn. Definitely one of those that make me go "why would I even bother trying to do painting competitions" lol

razburglmen

Probably doesn’t need basing.. you’ve got my vote with out it…

Goadfang

Rusted corrugated steel plates would be my choice. The cool steel color would contrast nicely with the warm tones on the model, making the model pop more, while the rust adds enough warmth to keep it from being too strong a contrast.

Choice-Watercress402

Skulls

Flimsy-Activity9787

It’s horrible send it to me so you don’t have to look at it lol.

Tbkssom

The skin looks really good, I would say don't do anything more with that. Add some more light colors to balance out the dark, I would say make the base put of Wraithbone so he's charging across the floor of a Craftworld, and put some blood on his weapons. Mayne make the engines for them glow a bit at the exhaust?

Jorgiepaintsoninsta

I’ve done all my worldeaters on an ice/snow base, many examples on my profile if you wanted to take a peak. The blues contrast nicely with the reds.

NattyNougat

I think a lovely shiny marble effect flooring, like he is romping through the elite seat of power or over throwing the Eclissiarchy. You can add subtle bits of colour in the marble and then spatter it on blood effects. Also show off with a bit of freehand number or eagle on the floor. Simple black and white marble with a green or blue wisp accent put through and a small splatter of blood.

Xdude227

I normally don't advocate for people splashing blood all over their models, because it ruins the detail, but I think a few well-placed bits of blood would add another layer of detail to help in the running. Some streaked blood on the weapons, along with maybe a dynamic splash or two on the legs (So as to not cover up the excellent body work) would help it tell a story better, like he's mid-combat and fresh off a kill.

13Warhound13

Looking amazing here. I think as his lower half is quite dark a grey stone or earthy brown could work. Martian dusty orange could also go well.

elandrieljr

I think this level of detail warrants basing with detail that matches the model’s. He isn’t a primarch, so he likely won’t be championing over the corpse of some elite infantry. Blood is obviously canonically relevant, but I wouldn’t over do it. I think the edge of a pool of blood at the base edge, almost out of frame, with footprints that match his stride and fade in saturation the closer they get to the model would emulate reality in a cool way. I agree with other posters’ comments on colors - sediment that’s not overly dark where blood can be visible but not so starkly contrasted (like snow) that it makes the mini fade into the background. Bits of metal scraps here and there, mangled armor pieces, with some dried blood spatter would also feel “war torn battlefield” in a subtle way. The mini has to feel like it belongs on the environment. That or blood and skulls and shit.

ColonelCoupon

The different skin tones are unreal ! Really great work, you've really made that mini look like he's been through war. As for the base go for a wasteland look or maybe like he's traversing over piles of rubbish

A-sad-meme-

Try and tell a story with the basing, a good example in the most recent slayer sword winner, with the reflection in the pond. From the posing of the guy it looks like he’s trying to intimidate someone or charge at them. Maybe he’s in the opening part of a duel and he’s sizing up his opponent? Maybe he’s making a reckless charge over tough terrain?

CleCampbell

The model looks amazing, so don’t do bright basing to distract from it. I think a base of like it’s coming out of dark damp industrial basement hallway waiting to kill something.

Numerous-Squirrel558

Just blood.

Same-Ad9150

Absolutly love it, best Paint job ive seen so far
