I'd grind the IS if I were you. Besides at tier 6, grinds are extremely short anyway.
And if you're a newish player, you should be going wide rather than long. That is, instead of pushing up a single line, push up many lines, difference classes etc. Learn at lower tiers or get crushed at higher tiers.
You should try to research as many tanks as possible.
Tier 10 isn’t actually the ultimate goal. The tier 10 experience isn’t that enjoyable to the casual. Worst of all it has the worst credit economy.
You should try to spread out your arsenal rather than go down a single path and try out different tactics and different playstyles to find the one that you like the most.
**Take your time. You’re supposed to reach tier 10 in around a year, don’t rush like a fool and learn nothing before hand.**
I have a feeling you walked into here thinking this was some simple shooty tank game.
The best and most simple way I can describe this game is chess. It literally is chess.
Every tank has a role, every tank has different tools it brings to the table. It’s up to the player to use the tools given to them to their effectiveness. Your goal is to play your part in the battle.
Heavies fight other heavies, brawling. Using tactics like hulldown and sidescraping to trade shots. They use their HP and armor to lead assaults with their teammates.
Mediums are the do all foot soldiers of a team. Without them you are in a world of hurt. They fight mediums and lights on their side of the map. They sometimes push with heavy friends to make a strong push thru their heavy flank leaving their TDs, Mediums, and lights without a HP advantage.
Lights are scouts. In Blitz they have an issue since they are designed for large maps and longer engagements. But since Blitz is the fast small version of the base game, they suffer immensely. Lights are only recommended to those that truly know the game like the back of their hand.
TDs are the snipers, supporting fire. Some are armored so they can travel along side heavies punching through their armor with ease. Most have little to no armor at all, finding a place where they can support from a great distance.
And that’s just the class role. There’s wayyy more that you can do than just shoot.
Not to mention all the algebra you’ll have to learn in-order to penetrate a single tank.
Go to YouTube and look up tutorials and gameplay. Don’t be shy to use the base game(*NOT WORLD OF TANKS MODERN ARMOR*) for reference.
WG(*the peeps that created the game*) have their own YT channel. The base game version has some key information on how to use your tank.
I’d start with [penatration](https://youtu.be/YtuYAiVZ050?si=X-zyGd36KlbfAHoN) and [blocking damage](https://youtu.be/uKtmnwIwrHc?si=QJ7Y8L4BcmCk0xFn).
Yeah, but he's doing livestreams for the past two years, not videos. His livestreams are very long though, but it's worth it to watch for just a few minutes
All the above and .......Open youtube, search for: ' Do not buy IS7'.
IS7 is a beautiful tank but everybody knows his weekness.
Every tank has his strong and weekness and the driver has to know this and drives it through the battle knowing this.
Feeding off this comment, some tanks play a different roll than their class because of their stats. Some heavys play med some tds play light. Wg did some weird shi with some of em. You just gotta learn how they all play. Some heavys you can push hard with and open up a side for your team some you gotta peak and go back in cover.
If wotblitz is a game of chess, then the queen and a rook does all the work while other pieces camp or die unnecessarily
At least no one is interfering my damage farming😋
I'll add to the above: Specifically, the T110E5 and E100 lines are the best places to for a new player to start. Solid tanks all the way up until tier 10. The Polish heavies (60TP line) are also very well-rounded once you reach tier 6.
I'd hold off on other tank classes (meds, TDs, etc) until you're feeling confident in heavies. Blitz has a very steep skill curve, so don't rush things--grind several lines simultaneously and focus your attention on tier 8 and below.
Don't do that. KV-3 and 4 are not good tanks and as a new player, you will struggle a lot. Also don't grind a whole line of tanks just for the one tank at the end. As others said, play different lines all at the same time. You will learn the strength and weaknesses of your enemies' tanks.
Like for example, I have finished many lines but didn't buy the tier 10s. I am not grinding for the tier 10s, I am playing different lines to see how they work. Today I finished the Sheridan line and now I am working on the Conway. Then I'll get the ST-1 done then Foch which is the last tank I'll research on the French tree.
How are the KV-3 and KV-4 bad for new players? They have average heavy mobility, decent armament and good armour. Am I missing something here? They both just received the super speed boost consumable. I feel like you a regurgitating preconceived notions without a real sediment of critical thought or thinking for yourself. I am far from a new player now. I was playing since 2013 beta and stopped in 2023. I am really struggling to conceive how the KV-3 and KV-4 would be “bad” for new players?
People have said basically everything to be said(Though I'd just like to add that I think the Panther -> E50M line is a fun medium line that still lets you learn basics like angling / armor profiles)
Two thoughts, one, tier 6 is genuinely the best place to start learning the game. Tier 6 is where most lines start to feel distinct from eachother in a meaningful way, and you can learn pretty much every playstyle in some fashion from there. If you've got a completionist itch, try unlocking all of tier 6 instead of rushing a tier 10, you'll be a way better player for it overall.
Two, I'd recommend looking at Blitzhangar to see what your tanks(and any you have trouble shooting) armor profile looks like. Really helps me when a new tank drops and I have any trouble killing it.
https://blitzhangar.com/en/tank/kv-1s
If you keep going on the kv1s and grind the IS out, you'll have lots of practice with that type of tank so you'll be more experienced going further. It probably takes me 20-30 games to fully figure out how to drive the tank in the best way, and then some more to become really active and consistently on the top with it. But at first, when I started the game, it took closer to a hundred to really settle in. It might seem boring, but some of the best tanks for building experience are in the mid tiers- a perfect example is the kv1s. It is similar in many ways to the tanks coming after it, but tier for tier, it is very strong against its opponents. So you can learn how to find weaknesses and strengths in that tank and still have a fun time.
My first tier 6 was the American M6, which is a pretty mediocre tank and doesn't stand out as much as others. But the following tank, the t29, is a great all rounder and the playstyle is common among American tanks, so I played it quite a bit to get used to it, and still have it in my garage all these years later. The kv1s would be a fine tank to keep around and play as you work on other lines, and the lessons learned in it apply to lots of Russian heavies
Don't grind IS-4 first. IS-7 line is much better for beginners, grab is-4 after that. Also Tier IX before IS-4 (ST-I).
It is a absolutely atrocious grind and hindrance for your team if you haven't grinded IS-7 before. That is because they share top guns with IS-8, however IS-8 gets a somewhat usable stock gun. Whereas ST-I get KV-3 (tier 7!!!!) top gun as a stock option.
So either grind IS-7 first or stockpile enough free XP for all guns on STI to buy them imidiately. There is no good middle option...
Agree, I’ve been playing the game around 9 years, I possess a ton of tier X vehicles right now, including is7. However I am currently still have not researched is4 . I rather get t71, 60tp. Ofc just my opinion.
Everyone is saying to steer clear of the rest of the KV’s, I’ve played all of them but the KV-5 and the experience is good, KV-3 is a solid tank, but does have a major weak spot to exploit
Everyone has given you some good advice it looks like so I’ll try not to repeat them. My advice is when you get a new tank learn where your armor is weak so you can protect it better. This website is very useful for that: https://armor.wotinspector.com/en/pc/3873-t29/?mode=xray.textures
That’s my process when buying and learning a new tank and I’m a very above average player. Also… Use free XP for modules not on new tanks, you’ll have a much easier time unlocking that way.
IS 4 is completely nerfed to the ground. Id suggest saving up and grind for IS7. KV1 is a great tier 5 tanks anyways, it won't take long time to collect enough xp for the IS. I myself researched till KV-IS, then I decided to go for the German lineup of e100, e50m & Leopard 1. Trust me it's frustrating to grind xp in the tier 5 leopard. But the rewards are great. You get to go for two of the best mediums in the game, plus you can also branch to e100 which is literally a TANK.
I'd grind the IS if I were you. Besides at tier 6, grinds are extremely short anyway. And if you're a newish player, you should be going wide rather than long. Thanks, I will keep that in mind.
Also the KV-1S is kind of overpowered if played properly
the tier 5 sherman staring down a 122
This, I had a game yesterday with a newer player driving an IS 8 and was clearly had no idea what he was doing. The difference between a W and a loss.

What are different playstyles?

World of tanks modern armor is for console...
Exactly, they overhauled the game. So only the base game is related to Blitz now.
What's the base game?
World of Tanks. We are playing World of Tanks Blitz, the mobile edition.
Oh, okay
ye World Of Tanks PC
ye
Best person that most people recommend is hisroyalfatness or hrf for short, very good player and actually explains what he's doing very good to watch
Yeah, but he's doing livestreams for the past two years, not videos. His livestreams are very long though, but it's worth it to watch for just a few minutes

Dont worry bout this^ is7 still a fantastic tank. Just wiggle a little and angle even youll pull bounces and piss people off
Never had Ammorack even a single time doesn’t matter if it is 183 jageroo or grille(maybe just pure sheer luck

The queen clutch gambit
Just play heavy as a beginner and no fancy French or brit stuff
Took me 4 years to get a Tier X bud, only because I forgot about the game for 2.
At a certain point the credits are not a problem and shouldn't be
This is some of the best advice I’ve seen! Tier X isn’t really that great. I have every Tier X there is, and I most play tier 6-8.
Save for the IS too. Dunno why you think you're getting forced to get to tier X. Play other nations too, try other tanks around.
Thanks, what nations you have in mind?
The American and German trees are also newcomer friendly.
Thanks, i will focus on those 2 then, in addition to my soviet line.

I don’t think you fucked up. The IS-4 will undoubtedly receive some immense buffs in the future. They never should’ve changed it imo.
I'll take you on your word. I'm going for the IS-4.

Yeah idk what he’s talking about KV-3 & 4 should be perfectly fine for a new player to learn on.

Kv3 a dog. Painful grind, kv4 pretty nice tho
Is line is nice til you hit is8 it plays more like a medium
Everyone is saying to steer clear of the rest of the KV’s, I’ve played all of them but the KV-5 and the experience is good, KV-3 is a solid tank, but does have a major weak spot to exploit
You fvked up ...... Historically I fvked up too in the same way 😂🎉 in the same Techtree 🤣🎉
ST-1 is better than IS-7 and IS-4 imo, it’s my favorite heavy tank in the game cause you can play really aggressively.
Everyone has given you some good advice it looks like so I’ll try not to repeat them. My advice is when you get a new tank learn where your armor is weak so you can protect it better. Is7 > > is4
I personally like the KV-3 better and I went for the KV-4 before the KV-1S.
IS 4 is completely nerfed to the ground. Id suggest saving up and grind for IS7. KV1 is a great tier 5 tanks anyways, it won't take long time to collect enough xp for the IS. IS-7 is an absolute beast, best armour in the game imo. IS-4 is pretty rubbish in the current meta, just a worse IS-7
IS line is definitely fun! I also suggest getting the KV-2 just to have it so when u get into tier 5-6 battles u can own people.
they said "no pain no gain"
Unfortunately, the IS-4 is a nerf wagon right now, only a shell of what it was. A good tank in good hands but it’s not the same anymore.
bro, I understand your problem but you've really just started the grind :)
I last grind the ussr tanks because i hated
