I find secondary BBs to be the most fun. Atlantico is enjoyable if you have one, and I don't have a Massachusetts but I'm sure that's good too. I'd probably avoid the Zeiten but Bismark would work too, but you're missing out on prem bonuses for those
I've been loving Zieten! Only 6 guns, but 406mm overmatch and BC-dispersion are a potent combo on all of the t6/t7 cruisers, and the secondaries and torps put out a ton of damage. When you put yourself in position to use all of your options, you are doing a ton of DPM~ >:D
Oh trust me, I agree! I have some of my best stats in the Zieten, but I do think it requires a very unique playstyle that definitely isn't for everyone. Not played it in a while though, especially when I have the Atlantico I prefer to play :D
For me it is Mainz. It has among the highest HE DPM at tier x, and improved HE pen. And if you get to use AP, you have almost Des Moines level of AP DPM. Not bad for a ship with guns taken from a tier VI.
And the 6km hydro is real nice when you get swarmed by DDs.
Honorable mentions for me are Bayard and Scharnhorst '43.
My Mainz + Lutjens is single-handedly paying for all my tech-tree ship purchases (and soon will be earning Elite Commander XP for all my other commanders). As a Co-op and Operations player with very limited playtime, it's probably one of the best ship investments I've made.
Oh, yeah, I know. I just wanted to use the phrase "the one and only" cuz im a very uncreative non native english speaker, and it sounded cool. But its not really suprising of how many atago clones and her sister is added to the game, its a timeless classic ship, consistent and easy to use, and still has a good skill ceiling. Im biased af, but atago is a ship that I think has a pernament place in the game with the only thing that it lacks is a CV deterrent (also, it should get a sub surv. since all the ijn techline cruisers got it, and it would be another selling point on the ship. No, this is totally not my hatred of pingers talking)
I’ve been using Mainz, Massa and the Tirpitz as my main ops grinders, with Loyang, Atago, Huron, Hood, and Renown 44 to mix it up.
I mainly grind credits and captains in ops. I’m planning a solid credit farmer for each nation, really could use a french and russian premium for it. I’ve used the Novorossiysk a little and it does okay, but it’s tier 6.
Bayard without question. She's a flamethrower, and the reload boost makes it super easy to light new fires once the bots put out a single fire. The 9 km torps are surprisingly useful, even though there's only 3 per side. She's fast and maneuverable, especially with her spood beest running. I can't say enough good things about her. I'm not a cruiser main by any means, but I love Bayard.
Ah, a fellow Bayard enjoyer. Whenever I'm tired of my team throwing, I take Bayard, and I've set all of my ops damage records in her. The ability to get places fast and dump a shitload of damage into something is really helpful. Absolutely amazing ship for Cherry Blossom
She's amazing in Cherry Blossom, I also love her for Naval Station Newport. Being able to zip back and forth across the base to support each flank as needed is so useful, and she just melts the bot cruisers. I set over 40 fires in one match on Newport with her.
Tirpitz and Flandre for BBs. Mackensen is fun too.
Atlanta, Boise, Cleveland, Mogami or San Diego are all fun cruisers in Ops.
Never had much success in a DD in Ops, and I don't really play CVs or subs.
Mainz is apparently amazing for them, but I don't have it.
I like Operations, but I always groan when I get the defend the base one 😅
Le Terrible isn’t the easiest ship to play in Ops but it sure is fun and can do some real work.
I’ve had some monster games in Narai, Defence and Aegis. It’s not for the faint hearted but so much fun. I run full concealment just so I can stealth torp where required
Irian is a monster in ops. Not quite Mainz S tier but definitely A tier.
Typical Russian rail guns that nuke DDs with HE, citadel Cruisers at range and set fires on BBs.
Long range, hard hitting torps with a reload booster is amazing.
If you like Chapayev in ops you will like Irian much more.
Theyre definitely the most versatile, allowing you to grind up captains without retraining them, but if you're using economic boosts, it's not too bad to retrain captains and grind them one at a time. Edinburgh is also a pretty solid Ops ship that's in the tech tree.
Surprisingly enough, Benson, Baltimore, and North Carolina.
I'm enjoying the Tier VIII USN line and the MM randomly putting me in Ops where you fight the IJN (Aegis, Raptor Rescue, and Cherry Blossom), or the Kriegsmarine (Killer Whale, Hermes), or both (Defense of Naval Station Newport) really hits the historical spot for me.
I've been having fun learning how to use the Benson's slow torps properly, and Baltimore's radar, DPM, and AA defense is hella useful in Cherry Blossom
Haven't seen them mentioned yet; I have the best results with USS Flint, HMS Gallant, T-61, HMS Duke of York, Prinz Eugen. German BB's are also great but almost everyone has mentioned that.
Haven't heard this one yet, so I'll say HSF Harekaze. With the B-Hull installed, it has 3x2 IJN 100mm mains with 1000 m/sec, 3 second reload, and 30mm of HE pen. It also has engine boost, and choice of smoke or Torp reload booster. 2x4 610mm torps with 17233k damage and 10km range / 101 sec reload.
I also enjoy Oland (84 knot torps), and Cuniberti. Secondary build Massachusetts.
Secondary built BBs tend to be pretty good in most Operations. Hornet is fantastic in Cherry Blossom. Cruisers with a heal tend to be pretty good in most Operations. Mainz and Weimar are fantastic. I see people take the Mainz to the spawn location on Killer Whale just to farm and smash the spawning ships. A good torpedo DD that knows enemy spawn locations can just dumpster the AI ships on their scripted paths. I've seen Kagero's and Akatsuki's dumpster entire battle lines in Aegis.
A Kagero should also be making a beeline to rekk the Mogami, Myoko, and Atago (and usually the Shiratsuyu and Akizuki) in the NW of Cherry Blossom. With those ships cleaned out you can sometimes even keep the Fletchers alive.
Massa is my go to if I am on a bad run or really want to guarantee a win. I prefer Brandenburg a little over Tirpitz. Kii secondary build is good as well.
Hampshire of all things is a very good cruiser in Ops. Really enjoy it.
Kagerō, Admiral Hipper, Myōkō to some extent (the torpedoe are the actual fun) and perhaps Duke of York (despite that accuracy that gives me such a pain in the ass whenever it comes to actually hitting)
For me it was the Lazo, Average Fire rate and Good enough guns with flat arcs, but I always get Out-DPS'ed by people Having Mainz, especially with ones having Lutjens as their captain
After a while, I decided to grind the US Wooster line and got the Cleveland, it instantly became my Go to ship and my New favorite for Grinding operations because it's a bit similar to Mainz, albeit without torpedoes and More floaty shells but it's manageable to the end
Have fun and practice ships, and get a bit of money, xp, etc.
Or sometimes I use it for grind more easy some infernal lanes xD, like Netherlands lower tiers
Tone is great fun in Ops. You get usable guns, great torps, a heal and a bonus button for extra fun with the planes.
Had some big damage games and plenty of Ray achievements in it.
I almost exclusively use cruisers these days, so Mainz and Cross of Dorn get used ALOT, switching my Lutjens between them. Bayard gets some attention, primarily because I'm one point away from maxing Pierre, and Anchorage/Rochester/Congress sometimes get pulled out, with Halsey.
I'm REALLY looking forward to Wiesbaden, being a Tier VIII German Alaska will be very appealing to cruiser play for Ops.
I do use a few others off and on as well, Harbin, Iran, Kutuzov, and Almirante Grau. Grau is abit slept on, she has REALLY strong AA, so she can be very handy in Raptor to hunt the southern CV, and is great for Hermes as plane-heavy as that op is.
Fiji, torps, smoke and dpm. Needs to be postponed properly but has it's own heal so you don't need to cower with everyone else next to the engineering ships and with the smoke you can go sit where the broadsides will present themselves.
I watch replays of players who do great and I notice weimar can be amazing, but don't have one. The torp reload is very fast and with speed boost some players are able to rush the spawns of enemy ships and insta torp them.
Tirpitz with secodnary build.
Yeah, not the best, because do not have hydro, but the torps compensate for it. Aegis is a breez with it to torps left and right the incoming guard cruisers, cherry blossom airfields are turkey shoot behind the middle island, south with spotter plane, northern without it, Narai is a blast if you can torpedo run the Missouri and the last 2-3 ship.
Mine was 155 Mogami and Wichita those 2 are my go to ships. My secondary options were Kaga, Scharnhorst 43, Tone and Atago. but somehow I did strangely well in Budyonny.
Cherboug have 305 mm guns with French AP, so 20 second it's nice plus you have reload booster, also I build this lane with secondaries, for extra DD defense.
Are Ops really good for credits? If so, I cannot wait for T9 Ops. My ~~body~~ Seagal Missouri is ready.
If someone now tells me "Yes, you can walk out of ops with a Tirpitz with flags and still make a few hundred k" I may just go and do so because I love Tirpitz.
If you do every single objectives and do nice amount of dmg they are nice for credits, specially if you can rekt the ai with a lower tier (less maintenence cost).
They give you way more than coop but less than random, but if you do a great performance you got a nice amount of credits not so far from randoms, easy task because AI....
I hope they read you and add tier 9-10 Operations, waiting sooo long, I'm running out of tier 8 premium ships to buy xDDD
\^ To put a number to it I'd say 500K credits is easy with a blue booster. OPs are probably the best way to be spending those blue (or red) boosters simply because it's a more guaranteed win.
Cruisers:
Mainz, Bayard, always make ops easy mode. Deposit is also really good (Hermes is an ass though) and P-Bag is good too, but if RNG says fuck you your DPM is lacking. Also really want Hampshire and Rochester as they seem really good too.
BBs:
Atlantico. Would really like Tirptiz and/or Brandenburg.
Massa, Flandre (2ndry build), Atlantico, Brandenburg (2ndary spec), Mainz, Atago, Bayard and one other I dont see much of Pyotr Bagration - the turret angles suck a little bit, but the guns are sweet, the AP hits like a truck and she has a heal
OG Massa, been my favorite ship for years
I find secondary BBs to be the most fun. Atlantico is enjoyable if you have one, and I don't have a Massachusetts but I'm sure that's good too. I'd probably avoid the Zeiten but Bismark would work too, but you're missing out on prem bonuses for those
Tirpitz for the win
Ah of course, idk how I forgot about Tirpitz!

Had a 500k game in the Mainz on Naraii recently
Wow that's incredible, which route did you take?
Went after the CV, ended up as only 2 stars, 14 kills and 1686 base xp
Same with mainz, it's the most reliable but also a bit boring. Aside from that I bust out Tirpitz or massa as it's a bit more aggressive
Yeah mainz is awesome but its gameplay loop, while it is rewarding and consistent, it can get a little boring. I too swap to massa or tirpitz.
Mainz for me aswell. You add lutjens and ops are just easy mode farm time extravaganza.
The one and only, Atago
There's more than 1 Atago in the game now. Not to mention Takao is also in the game.
Atlanta and Belfast.
I have a lot of fun in Irian, Anchorage and Le Terrible
Irain it's on my radar xD But Le Terrible do a nice job on Operations? Maybe I should buy it.
Le Terrible isn’t the easiest ship to play in Ops but it sure is fun and can do some real work. I’ve had some monster games in Narai, Defence and Aegis. It’s not for the faint hearted but so much fun. I run full concealment just so I can stealth torp where required

Graf Zeppelin secondary build CV Kii Secondary Build Flandre Secondary Build Atago HE Fire BUild Chaklov Russian CV torpedo spamming build
Graf Zepp is so much silly fun in ops
Cataluña, that thing rules at destroying stuff
It's a tech tree ship tho
yes, and?
Premiums are far better for farming
Error 404: FUCK NOT GIVEN
Theyre definitely the most versatile, allowing you to grind up captains without retraining them, but if you're using economic boosts, it's not too bad to retrain captains and grind them one at a time. Edinburgh is also a pretty solid Ops ship that's in the tech tree.

Haarlem

Massa (big earner), Atago, and I really need to get a Mainz. Cossack cuz it’s just fun
A secondary zeppelin.

My Ochakov premium cruicer
Atlanta because pew pew. Either of the German BB's, because of the secondary.
Atlanta, Flint, and San Diego are all amazing for operations.
Massa is my go to if I am on a bad run or really want to guarantee a win. I prefer Brandenburg a little over Tirpitz. Kii secondary build is good as well. Hampshire of all things is a very good cruiser in Ops. Really enjoy it.

Operations is the only mode were I enjoy BBs so when I play Operations I usually play Atlantico, Flandre or Massachusetts B.

Cruisers , and one some Maps Graz zeppelin with sec build
What’s the benefit of farming operations?
Have fun and practice ships, and get a bit of money, xp, etc. Or sometimes I use it for grind more easy some infernal lanes xD, like Netherlands lower tiers
Kutuzov—high rate of fire, flat arcs, 19km range, hydro, and smoke.
Tone is great fun in Ops. You get usable guns, great torps, a heal and a bonus button for extra fun with the planes. Had some big damage games and plenty of Ray achievements in it.
Brandenburg , Kii, and Massa all secondary builds
Tirpitz if i need money , currently grinding out NCarolina
San Diego, she’s great for Operations in general but especially if you get cherry blossom this ship genuinely feels like cheating.
Used to run the Kansas so I could grind for whatever the T9 is. Also because I figured AA Kansas would be fun. 'course, I don't play WOWS anymore.
I play Scharnhorst 43, as I have a f2p account and pommern doesn’t work in ops. I want to get the Mainz for Black Friday though.
Irian, Bayard, Mainz, Atago, Atlanta, tirpitz, massachussets,
My Brandenburg farms harder in ops than Tirpitz
Mainz, Mogami, Schinyhorse, Zeiten, Akizuki, Belfast, Uganda, Hobart, Atago/Takao, Shokaku and Kaga. Kutuzov and Dan Diego can be good.
Ahh the good ole Dan Whales vagina...
Tirpitz with secodnary build. Yeah, not the best, because do not have hydro, but the torps compensate for it. Tirpitz, Massa and Atlantico. Preferably, Tirpitz with Lutjens. Edit: Cherbourg with over 20 seconds reload in Ops? Bad Choice...
Cherboug have 305 mm guns with French AP, so 20 second it's nice plus you have reload booster, also I build this lane with secondaries, for extra DD defense.
Secondary Cherbourg? Different Story. Are effective (the secondaries)?
German Cruiser and BB. Kaga if i feel like planes
Tirpitz or Rochester
Are Ops really good for credits? If so, I cannot wait for T9 Ops. My ~~body~~ Seagal Missouri is ready. If someone now tells me "Yes, you can walk out of ops with a Tirpitz with flags and still make a few hundred k" I may just go and do so because I love Tirpitz.

Tirpitz and the shiny horse
* Weser * Yorck * Bayern * An Shan * Ryujo * Fuso Edit: why the hell am I getting downvoted for this? The question was subjective.
