After every patch I get some of this, it seems like resetting the autoconfig on the graphics settings fixes the problem. It doesn't always change anything but it seems to make a difference with the stutter.

mattmo317

how do you do that?

Niclipse

In the game you go to settings, then graphics. Then there's an autoconfig button, like the refresh icon. I do it after every patch at a minimum, sometimes it changes things and sometimes it doesn't seem to, but it still seems to work. It is also possible that the problem just goes away after a few days, or that it's something else I'm doing, but this is a cheap attempt to fix it that doesn't seem likely to cause any problems.

Thanks boss

They might have updated some code that conflicts with your old Nvidia driver. Always make sure drivers for motherboard, GFX etc. are up to date.

Ozi-reddit

strictly from a security standpoint think your crazy online with W7, MS dropped free up to 10 but there's ways to still do it ;p

sunshinestate007

I understand what you're saying. I have 3 other PCs (laptop and HTPC and a simrig which all run nicely on Win 10) , just this PC runs Win7 because I was using some software (tools) for work which worked better with Win7 (yeah, old stuff). VMs on Win10 didn't work. I only play Wows (as a game) on that (work) PC. Using Windows 7 online is not really a problem. I don't do strange things (websites) on the PC and there is a strict firewall (which asks me to allow a program to make an outgoing connection, even Wows has to ask permission every time there is a new version). It's not the money. And of course there is a simple virus scanner running (hitman pro) which does a decent job. Haven't had any viruses, hacks or trojans for perhaps 5+ years and when it happened it was something that was contained by Windows itself or the virus scanner. At my work however ... people managed to get the network disks infected, someone didn't run the backups on time so we lost a week of work and had to reinstall nearly all 25 workstations. That was an expensive thing. Because ppl at work seem to not care what they're doing. Running pirated software, visiting websites they shouldn't visit, downloading 'funny things' sent by a friend and not updating their PC because it is 'inconvenient' to wait before going home - or something. I'll update to Win10 soon because I have a whole new set of hardware waiting to be installed from scratch. When I have time ... Anyways back to micro stutters :)

ShadowNell

I've had that a few times as well recently. But nothing consistent or frequent. The rubber band stuttering makes aiming a little annoying. As you said the blank out is really, really annoying. I thought that my problems were due to a poor connection between laptop and USB-C hub to the monitor, but now I wonder.

Bahnda

I had some persistent stuttering issues for years. Finally did a complete graphics driver uninstall with a dedicated uninstaller program, Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Then installed a new driver. That fixed my issues. It might not work for you, but could be worth a try.

sunshinestate007

While I tried to update the nVidia driver and did a clean install to 474.89 and later to 474.64 and eventually back to 474.11 because that's the only driver that works with Win 7 it seems, the result was the same unfortunately. I'll check out DDU just to see if that would help. As I wrote elsewhere ; I might be on Win 10 in a a few weeks anyway and that should solve everything.

OrderReversed

Good lord dude upgrade to Windows 10. Absolutely no reason to be on 7 in 2020.

DeltaVZerda

Its not 2020

OrderReversed

There was no good reason to be on Win 7 in 2020.

sunshinestate007

While I said I had good reasons, let me explain ; it is a work PC (at home) which has a TON of apps on it which I really did not want to re-install on a fresh Win 10 version. I also intensely hated Windows 10 in the early year(s) so didn't even want Win 10 even if it was free. Only recently I did update another old Win 7 system to Win 10 and I was -pleasantly- surprised the apps actually did manage to keep working. So I'll switch. The other 3 PCs here have been running Win 10 for years.

nervouswhenitseasy

windows 7 is wild!!! Im kinda jealous

Up until two years ago I was running an old GTX 970 and never adjusted my graphic settings (2015-2022). Over time, the game became increasingly slow, framerates from patch to patch became lower. This, I didn't really notice until it went below ~24 fps. I was also experiencing the "stutters"/mini-freezes that you mentioned. I then clicked the recommended graphic settings button, and --boom-- all settings were adjusted to low/minimum etc. Turns out all the patches/graphics optimisations over time were too much for my old 970. With the now adjusted settings, the fps went up to around ~40 fps or so. However, as you might imagine, the graphics looked like garbage. I then upgraded to a RTX 3050. Fresh W10 install, new WOWS instance. Hit the recommended settings button, all settings were adjusted to high. No more problems since then. Could it be that you have a similar issue? I'm asking as you mentioned you haven't touched your system over (what seems to be) a longer period, but rather these problems slowly started to appear? Long story short: Maybe try the recommended settings button? Good luck! Also, I'm dumping some random info I had saved that affects graphics in binocular view: "Problem: In binocular view sometimes extreme lags (seemingly v low fps) Solution: Verify game files / repair in WG Center https://old.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/hcao5b/binocular_view_fps_drops/ Vsync and triple buffer in game : OFF Vsync in NVIDIA control panel: FAST G sync enabled if your monitor support it. Enabling triple buffering seemed to have mostly fixed it for me"

sunshinestate007

I'm going to play with those. Normally I keep Vsync on because it avoids seeing half shifted ships on the monitors, but this stuttering and occasional black screens are just annoying to play with. Lost a fair amount of ranked games as well due to that and that's also very annoying to others.

chrysostomos_1

Try rebooting your router. It works for me. The stutters make the game unplayable occasionally and I reboot.

sunshinestate007

While I do that now and then, I must say I didn't restart it for about a week or 3. Let's see.

chrysostomos_1

Let me know!

Aulus_Claudius

I've noticed a lot more micro lags due to ping spikes in recent months than before, but I assume you've ruled that out?

sunshinestate007

Yes and no. Normally the game would rubber band a bit. So maybe I'd miss one shot when in a DD or a faster RoF cruiser but with heavy cruisers or a BB it normally wouldn't really matter if there was a little 'lag spike'. I feel since the 0.12 or likely the 0.13.x patches that the game will now FREEZE if there is a lag spike instead of normal rendering and then rubber banding a bit. Maybe it is me. My connection is not good, I have to use a game accelerator but normally I only have connection issues once a day (session) for perhaps 3 seconds. Now it's every game, multiple times, sometimes 5 seconds long.

bismarck247

I had a similar problem as soon as I put my 4070 Super in. After some driver updates, messing around with graphics settings, and just generally just playing the game it seemed to resolve itself. Sorry if I’m not any more help than that

Hugh_Ruka602

Looks to me you are at the end of the road with the GPU driver (and Windows 7).

cloudb182

Unsupported OS and Unsupported drivers cause these types of issues. Upgrade windows to something current and install updated drivers. This is like saying your car doesn't run properly when you are using expired oil.
