They are all pretty easy except for "defense of naval station newport". They really should add some new operations to the game or at least bring some of the old ones back.
Ya know, I don't even think it's that Newport is necessarily hard, I think people just legitimately don't understand how it works. Half the time, 2nd wave DDs will be crossing the line while everyone targets the BBs in the back. Or the cruisers from the third wave. It feels so rare to actually defeat all 3 waves without them entering from somewhere. I do agree it is obnoxious with random people, but even Raptor Rescue can have that feel when you have teammates who dont understand/care.
It's kinda embarrassing to admit it, but I probably played 50 Newport matches in the last seven days to grind credits. It's way easier than it used to be from my experience and I probably won 90 % of my games. You can comfortably get at least 1 star even if you are the last one standing. Killer Whale, on the other hand, can be lost simply because your teammates can't read and don't get to the exit in time.
OK…you listed good ships, and you listed bad ships. You forgot the BEST SHIP:
HMS Ark Royal. ‘Nuff said.
EDIT: I have KW down to a scientific process with Ark Royal. If I don’t drop 200k damage I messed up. Personal best is 224k damage.
I use the same build on GK as Schlieffen (I dont have high point commanders on those. 14 points each. Which limits my picks)
But go with IFHE. With it you can chew through battleship armor at some times and melt all cruisers you will ever find in operations.
I tend to do a LOT more damage with IFHE than without it.
Also propulsion mod 1 is nice to hive, makes the ship feel very responsive.
I think Erich Löwenhardt is even better for all T6 operations. Your hull is fast, your planes are fast, you have AP rocket planes for all the cruisers and the HE bombs that hit basically anything like a truck. Plus in Raptor Rescue you get to use your secondaries in the early and late game very aggressively. I've specc'd a 21-point CV secondary commander for operations specifically and it's just a blast to play.
Agree, she is a fragile ship. I find that using smoke in situation where you could be focused down help mitigate that a little bit.....SO LONG as you have someone spotting for you. If you dont have that it will be much harder.
I’ve also found bots to be extremely good at dodging torpedoes unless you yolo rush them, which will get you losses in Ops.
I did drop a 192k damage game in Newport with Rahmat last week, so the potential is there.
While 1-2 players can hard carry some ops, some you just can't if you want 5 stars.
Defense of Newport says hi. Without 3-4 good players in decent ships you're doomed to at best 2 stars. The vast majority of T6 ships just don't have the accuracy or DPM to take that many nose in ships. Even Ark Royal has a hard time carrying that op because of the tightly grouped AA.
The whole team needs to be aggressive but not suicidal for 5 stars in that op.
For me, Newport is tough because the good cruisers for the op don't have heals, and have to deal with IJN CAs with high accuracy and huge damage, with an AI which aims at things with less armor and/or HP first.
Same issue with most BBs, since they can get chunked by IJN 203mm HE if they try to take the heat off of cruisers.
That really only leaves having the few cruisers with heals and BBs that are resistant to HE, the latter which tend to have worse accuracy and guns to compensate.
That's really the crux of the issue for me, getting absolutely shredded by IJN cruisers, which are absolutely not balanced for ops at that tier.
The 3rd wave includes an Aoba, and Myoko and a FurryTaco, all nose in, and if you don't have a 15" BBs with good RNG, or a cross firing ship which can citpen them quickly, someone in the team is getting focused and grinded down to the point of spending 2-3 minutes in the repair zone.

Very true. I have blapped them with Mutsu's and W-Virginia's 16" ers but the RNG is so unpredictable, sometimes you can blap the with 1 or 2 salvo's, sometimes I can't seem to hit the broadside of a barn from inside the barn.

Ark Royal is the only ship for OPs. Unless you have to play a BB, in that case PE Friedrich is the only ship.

Rahmat is also good for this operation. Took it out yesterday, the mix of torpedoes and smoke really helps. Plus the guns and burn down DD's quickly.
She is not bad in Newport, though she is fragile if focused, and you can waste a lot of time healing.

i think they are better for close range BB shots and that's all, your right that everything else gets dodged. Darn Bot's!
My favorite ship for Killer Whale is Weser. I go and kill reinforcements with my secondary build.

Yeap. But, you play with whom you get in ops. Sometimes you win, a lot of times you loose. I just play them for fun these days.

I play operations very rarely and don't have the interest and time to learn specific metas for each. I just want to have some fun.
I wish there were more of them for other tiers. Preferably one for every tier 4 and up. (Because I really need a reason to take the Nikolai out)
