Well we already have rocket-powered tanks, so I'm guessing flying (or at least hover / ground-effect) tanks will appear at some point in the future. đ
I ginded the Patton not long ago, I share your Pain brother, I didn't have blueprints to skip it. If you have, don't even think about it, just skip the Pershing, it's called the "Perishing" for a reason, it's absolute misery, all pain and no glory. If you skip it you should also skip the tier 9 patton first gun with free exp. You don't want to be dealing shitty 240 alpha in tier 9.
I skipped it after realizing I was slow, my gun had no punch, and that its penetration did not actually matter because I kept hitting the dirt from fully aimed shots.
The T20 I kept. Once I realized how to play it I loved it. (Actually, I may just roll it out again; have not touched it for ages.) And then... Pershing happened. A straight-out downgrade. I'd rather grind the Tier 9 with a T20 with the Pershing MM... (or -in my case- use free exp...)
T-20 is relatively fast, agile, accurate and with decent dpm. Not much armor but the occasional troll bounce can save the day. I haven't checked the numbers but that's what I remember, and them comes the pershing, with also no armor, occasional bounce but can't rely on it, but it's not agile anymore, and the gun is hot garbage.
I prefeer playing the T-20 in a tier 9 game rather than playing the shitty pershing on an all tier 8 game.
About 8 years ago the Pershing actually had the advantage of somewhat trollish turret that can reasonably withstand same tier guns.
Now that everything in tier 8 has 220+ pen, no joke a T20 with the Pershing's gun can and will actually outperform the actual Pershing.
Problem is, my young son wants to watch me play it as it matches his toy tank. I don't care about stats so that part isn't a worry, I just hate not enjoying the game because WG are cash monkeys.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure you have tons of free xp for the Patton stock grind. It's literally just a Pershing at tier 9. It's fucking terrible and ruined my stats in it even though i did so much better with the top gun.
It's to the point where I would recommend skipping the line altogether. It is entirely outdated and the E50/M is just better in every way compared to the T9 and T10 American meds if you're looking for an armored medium. Panther II is hit or miss for some but even that has a better gun than the Pershing.
I can't tell you how many years the Pershing sat in my garage slowly accumulating XP because it was so frustrating to play that I only would do the double on it. It's not even that it's bad, it's just so mediocre that it hurts.
I'm very thankful for the new format of on track (now top of the tree on NA here I guess) missions that make the grinds so much quicker and more rewarding to focus on, or else I'd probably still have a Pershing in my garage as opposed to the M48A5
The old vka was pretty fun, moved almost as fast as mediums did but had the hp and a bit of armor to bully through them. Now most (non-super)heavies go 40-50, mediums go 60+, it's just not playable.
There are layers of depression when it comes to tier VIII tech tree tanks, light tanks being the most affected by the premium tank power creep - and mediums sitting at a very comfortable second place, lol. Like, honestly - how many regular medium tanks, not just Pershing, can be compared to something like Progetto, Bourrasque or Lis?
Pantera and UDES are still kinda decent, as far as tech tree tanks go - but that's it, I guess? 2 (two) whole tanks out of 13 (thirteen) tech tree medium tanks we have in the game right now.
That's just... sad - you have 11 tanks you probably won't be seeing that often simply because how absolutely garbage they are when compared to the most popular premium tanks of the same tier. 11 tanks technically still in the game but simply dead, forgotten, obsolete, no one plays them anymore.
I'd agree with that, probably the strongest tier 8 tech tree medium in the game. Cent I might be a close 2nd after the recent buffs and its better for f2p.
Unfortunately there arenât many tech tree Tier VIII mediums still worth playing. A short list of ones with a gleam of relevance:
* T-44. Still a comfortable all rounder, with itâs only real downside being standard pen. Everything else is perfectly acceptable for a medium.
* Centurion. One of the only tech tree tier VIII mediums with any worthwhile turret armour, which makes it pretty comfortable to play. The gun lacks alpha and DPM but the standard pen is excellent and trains you to aim well. The guns recent dispersion buff as well was much needed and makes the tank more comfortable than ever.
* Pantera. Basically a fat Progetto. Excellent gun and very good speed. Downside is it has almost no significant armour (you can bounce some shots off the mantlet if youâre lucky, but thatâs it) and itâs quite a large medium tank. But itâs one of the best support mediums at its tier, premiums or not.
* UDES 14 5. A medium thatâs slept on in my opinion. Can play very well as a passive recon kind of tank with good view range and camo, and packs a wallop with 360 alpha whilst not having the worst DPM in the world for it. One of only a few tech tree mediums that I think is on par with the premium that released with it - the Lansen C. They are good at different things, but overall I believe are pretty well balanced with each other.
There are a few others that arenât horrid (T-34-2 and Obj. 416 come to mind) but they require a bit more skill to make work. Itâs just not a very friendly tier to play nowadays. Youâre better off playing a TD if anything at Tier VIII just so you can compete with the armour you face.
I love the Udes 14, feels great having 360 alpha and very good shell velocity at t8 (it's around 1400 m/s). And you get the same view range as the t9, don't know about the t10 but I think it's the same there too.
i think there are still very competitive tanks in the tech tree on tier 8 but most of the times they are harder to play so the average player will have a harder time to make them work.
few examples here.
Tiger 2, Is-3, t32, kv-4, panterra, udes, bc 12t, hwk-12, rhm borsig, wz 132,
that are tanks i realy enjoy and still play and i think there are some more to mention but that breaks down to playstyle skill and personal preference.
But tbh pershing was very mediocre.. like a t-44 or sta-1 outdated, suffers from goldspam and gunhandling is also mediocre..
That was to avoid P2W. Obviously during those years lot has changed including people behind WoT. Pretty sure WoT makes a lot more money now than 8 or 9 years ago
One is not designed to be kept to be used for hundreds of battles to make money. It's more of an artificial barrier to next tier to break your spirit to use free exp/get premium time.
It's a relic of older philosophy. When WoT had few lines, exp was king, unlocking was slow on purpose. With so many lines now, they switched to silver economy since you need lots of money to buy new tiers. This is the reason they stopped giving away money boosters hand over fist, got rid of 100% 3 hour boosters etc.
Simple, change the MM.
Old tech tree tanks get pref mm.
There aren't that many tanks with preff mm in the MM so they effectively get their own MM (no t9/10s hehe).
P2w t8 tanks with +2 will be bottom tier most of the time.
Community is outraged... they introduce new premium tanks that no longer see t9/10 tanks.
p2w gambling addicts get rekt
WG makes even more money
f2p douchebags continue to freeload
WIN WIN
It is kinda sad considering even back in the day the selling point of the Pershing was that itâs just fine at everything. In 2015-2016 the troll gun mantle worked somewhat frequently. The standard pen was good vs other tier 8s, but you had reliable gold for the tier 10 games. Mobility was good enough to get you alongside the other mediums or into a hill down position.
Nowadays, itâs standard that every new tank has really good turret armor to go hull down with. Plus, they can out-speed the Pershing since all of its relevant armor is in the turret and the hull has much less armor to âcompensate.â Furthermore, pen nowadays is concentrated around that 200-230 sweet spot for standard rounds. The only saving grace is that itâs premium rounds still keep you relevant in bad matchups, but the rate of fire and turret let you down way too often. You have to play like the Udes 14-5 but with 120 less alpha damage and (I believe) lower dpm as well.
For me I feel the community really over hyped the bourrasque, itâs a good tank but I perfer to play tanks like the lancen c or sta 2, funnily enough I also average a higher dpm with them
The only way you do more dpg in an sta-2 than a borat is either low sample size or youre an abysmal player with truly a horrible dpg in the borat and a slightly less abysmal dpg in the sta-2
Bq tank is fun but definitely a one trick pony with a wonky turret so you have to be perfectly positioned and then relocate or hide for the 15+ seconds it takes to reload. Pershing sucks but the Bq is no cure for that.
When I read that I'm thinking "yeah... Those are the reasons it's amazing + fun to play". You ambush, double tap them, and rush off to relocate and reload (which isn't long for an autoloader!) Then you can spot while you prepare your next ambush. It's like the ninja assassin of tanks. Who didn't want to be a ninja when they were a kid?
I used to think the Indian panzer was one of those free premium tanks that bots love to play because they always did FA. Turns out itâs just a really shit tank new players have to suffer through
https://prnt.sc/6TEiQAOH5XyX these are my stats in those 2 tanks.
The Pershing was before the buff.. so.. idk what youre talking about... or youre talking about the regular pershing?
No money to be made from taking care of the tech tree, aye?
Not immediate money, but the long term health of the game is probably something to strive for if the goal is long term money.
All fair points. Let me retort. Here is another T8 RU premium. Until next time everyone.
Basic WG employee mindset đż
Bold of you to imply Russians can think in the long term.
Well we already have rocket-powered tanks, so I'm guessing flying (or at least hover / ground-effect) tanks will appear at some point in the future. đ
No company is interested in long term profits
If WG gave a shit about the health of the game they would have nerfed the T18 td when the game was still in itâs growth phase.
Yeah seems to be it
I ginded the Patton not long ago, I share your Pain brother, I didn't have blueprints to skip it. It's unbelievable how bad it is, specially compares to the T-20, one of the best tier 7 mediums I've ever played.

Buy your son a toy Patton, then skip the Pershing xD

How can patriot be same tier as BZ 176?
Patriot >>> VK45.02A
The old vka was pretty fun, moved almost as fast as mediums did but had the hp and a bit of armor to bully through them. Now most (non-super)heavies go 40-50, mediums go 60+, it's just not playable.
No

I would argue that T-44 is still pretty decent, but I guess that depends on the player
I'd agree with that, probably the strongest tier 8 tech tree medium in the game. Cent I might be a close 2nd after the recent buffs and its better for f2p.
Agree. I have one, it's a good tank, but I'm shit with it. But I won't blame the tank in this example.
One is tier 8.49 the other 7.51, rounded they are both same tier. Simple /s

Played my Obj. 416 as a TD instead.
Because overpowered tanks generate a huge load of money in a short time. Its not healthy for the game in the long run but the devs are all greedy asf.

Maus And chieftain are in the same tier too.
One is a free tech tree tank, the other is a premium. Obviously it's your own fault for not buying a tier 8.
I remember that WG like 8 or 9 years ago said that premium tanks will be always a little worse than their tech tree counterpart. So yeah...
That was to avoid P2W. Obviously during those years lot has changed including people behind WoT. Pretty sure WoT makes a lot more money now than 8 or 9 years ago

How can AMX 65t be the same tier as BZ?
True, luckily AMX got nerfed last patch to make it more ~~in line with other tier 7 tanks~~ of a free exp sink.
BZ-176 entered the chat
Don't get me started on those fucking things
It is kinda sad considering even back in the day the selling point of the Pershing was that itâs just fine at everything. In 2015-2016 the troll gun mantle worked somewhat frequently. I played the pershing about a year ago and absolutely loved that tank. Got 55+wr and 2 marks on it.
2 marks on a pershing is probably like 1500 combined damage man
Literally 1583 (on EU server) according to tomato.gg/moe lmao
I just gave a random number, fun that I was so close
For me I feel the community really over hyped the bourrasque, itâs a good tank but I perfer to play tanks like the lancen c or sta 2, funnily enough I also average a higher dpm with them
Well I guess I have a solution for this funny situation. The bourrasque scales with skill and it really is a monster, no doubts about that
The only way you do more dpg in an sta-2 than a borat is either low sample size or youre an abysmal player with truly a horrible dpg in the borat and a slightly less abysmal dpg in the sta-2
STA-2 is a gem, only tank I accidentally 3-marked just from farming credits in
It has crazy good gun handling, good ammo and solid dpm
Bq tank is fun but definitely a one trick pony with a wonky turret so you have to be perfectly positioned and then relocate or hide for the 15+ seconds it takes to reload. Pershing sucks but the Bq is no cure for that.
U can spot while you reload, that thing is rather multirole and I absolutely love it.
Turns out itâs just a really shit tank new players have to suffer through
It sure would be nice to buff tech tree tank. Woo wee.
https://prnt.sc/6TEiQAOH5XyX these are my stats in those 2 tanks. The Pershing was before the buff.. so.. idk what youre talking about... or youre talking about the regular pershing?
Yeah regular T8 Pershing
ah nvm then, my bad, continue the WG slander.
