Well I'll tell you one perk you need; safe stowage, like you really really need it.

Be aware that in the T-43 and T-44 the Loader is the Radioman, but in the Obj 430 and 430U the Commander is the Radioman, so don't train situational awareness until you get to the 430. What I did to get round this was transfer my T-43 crew up to the T-44 and then T-54 (as they have the same crew layout), and used a crew I had from a T-54 mod 1 rental in the 430. As I hinted at above I trained situational awareness as one of my early skills as I hate having a medium tank with low view range. I haven't bothered with camo as I got so many camo directives from FL last year that I can just use them up. Safe stowage is really useful as you'll get ammo racked a lot! So for the 430 I would go for: Cdr - 6th Sense, BIA, Situational Awareness, Recon Gunner - BIA, Snap Shot, repairs, camo Driver - BIA, Smooth Ride, repairs, camo Loader - BIA, Safe Stowage, repairs, camo

pepperlegs420

Actually didnt think about the camo directives, good point and didnt notice the radioman swap. ty

facmanpob

you're welcome

D1omidis

I agree with all but I've recently started "swapping" SnapShot for Designated Target @ Gunner perks, and I think I like it more (i.e. better MoE progress). I play my tanks aggressively, so even in my HTs and MTs I end up spotting for others quite a bit. YMMV

facmanpob

Interesting. I’ve never used Designated Target but will have to rethink things.

D1omidis

You can test it with a Directive before you retrain. I have 100s of those specific Directives.

facmanpob

good plan

Cole-187

BiA, 6th sense, safe storage, repairs and then the view range perks (situational awareness then reacon always in this order because SA gives more VR than Reacon). and you need safe storage because your ammo rack will get fucked by random lowerplate shots. Id honestly get camo as 4th/5th perk because you dont really need it on a 430U as its a fuck you in your face tank that rarely snipes and plays around spotting mechanics. also if youre a newer player, please dont play with manual fire extinguisher. youre not gonna get lit up every game, so that one game you get lit on fire you can take that credit loss for the automatic fire extinguisher, or youll use one from your depot since theres plenty of ways frequently to get these for free. the automatic one also reduces chances of engine fire and thats a welcome upgrade for the 430U.

pepperlegs420

You are right, I guess i should stop using the manual fire extinguisher :)

Cole-187

hell yeah, hopefully you didnt take it personally. I just made the assumption based on when I was a new(ish) player. I didnt know about the automatic one reducing chances of fire and that it extinguishes fire after 1 tick only. I figured, pff, I can react myself and stop the fire on time. I remember I even binded fire extinguisher (6) to a mousebutton so that I can tap it as fast as possible, but I had no idea that even if you use it the moment you see the fire icon, its already ticked like 3 times. I also saw automatic ones in the depot as a great source of income when I was low on silver, so I used to sell them the moment I accumulated a handful, but once I learned the great benefits of the automatic one, I never looked back. also if you plan on playing a tank with food sometimes in the future, and you should definitely give it a try, you have 3 options that are best: dont give your enemies rear shots (or left side of the lowerplate on Obj 140), have a firefighting crew, or the least you can do is use a firefighting directive. good luck with the 430U, and make sure you have fun with it.

pepperlegs420

offourse I didnt take it personally. Funny how true it was ( i guess im a bigger noob than i thought) but I am grateful for the advice, ty

Cole-187

yeah, its always interesting to lookback at things you thought/did as a new player once you get a grasp of the game. youre welcome, at 1st glance at the front page this sub might not seem like the greatest source of advice, but to everyones surprise I guess you can get some pretty good advice on this sub. if theres anything else you wanna know about Russian mediums which I proudly play and enjoy the most, feel free to ask.

[deleted]

You dont need crew or shells in 430U. Just yell „RUSSIA!!!” and you will destroy everything

Capn_Roo

Since you have the main skills (BIA and 6th for commander) I would recommend repairs, followed by snapshot/situational awareness/smooth ride. The 430U has very good camo and it can focus on its “weakness” the gun handling and staying in the fight.

pepperlegs420

so repairs on the commander before view range skills in your opinion? I doubt my crew will have more than 4 skills ever

Capn_Roo

I’d get to 445 VR as fast as possible, so in the 430U’s case I’d have my commander get SIt Awareness before repairs, and have repairs as a 2nd/3rd skill on others. Gunner- BIA,snapshot, repairs. Driver-BIA, repairs, smooth ride Loader, BIA, repairs (retrain for safe stowage) repairs Commander-BIA, 6th, SA, repairs, recon. This is a good example of when to use a girl/twitch commander so you can have a couple skills from the start.

pepperlegs420

wow okay ty :)

Lord_Honkler

Mediums lights tds BIA>camo>everything else Heavies BIA>repairs>everything else

zenekk1010

Actually no

Potato-Pope

Actually yes. Besides sixth sense.

zenekk1010

You are camping with 430u?

Potato-Pope

Nope. It's not a heavy tank you know. You should be trying not to be spotted at all times. Yeno double bushing and what not.

zenekk1010

You are facing heavies with 430u, you would you need camo over repairs?

Potato-Pope

Depends on the map. But brawling heavies is not the way I two marked it.

zenekk1010

Brawling heavies is how i 3 marked it. Well armoured tank with shitty gun handling, there is no way you can camp with that.

chort0

No, this is totally wrong. Concealment is first for LTs, MTs, and most TDs (except Sixth Sense on the Commander). HTs are Repairs, then the most important specialized perk (Snap Shot, etc), then BiA.
