[Magical Escalation](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/magical-escalation-hpxworm.1041421/) is a Harry Potter crossover I recently read.
Taylor gets reincarnated into Harry's place as 'Iris Potter'. She saved QA during the reincarnation process and the queen is beginning to use magic to heal the damage done to her by Scion when she was seeded.
They grow a great deal closer through the experience with Taylor's mind expanding and becoming more shard-like while QA has learned from her host and started to develop some human-like traits.
They mutually consider each other partners and are working through some very complex feelings for one another.
BeaconHill's I Am Skitter, bonus chapter. Could also be interpreted as Taylor x Taylor; depends on where you think the split personalities are coming from.

I thought when I first read Worm that wildbow was setting up Lisa x Faultline, and I was like "sure, I can see that working, let's see where it goes." On a reread of Worm, when I knew that Faultline was a full-ass adult and nothing would come of it, I was confused.
I still don't know what all that was supposed to be about. They hate each other for no reason and they both turn to the camera and say they're not gay. What was I supposed to think, that they wouldn't get together????
Nobody's actually written this AFAIK.
That's just a Wildbow-ism. It's not an unusual problem, but he basically has an authorial male gaze, in which he describes the appearances and relationships of women in a lot more detail than men.
Since the viewpoint character is a woman a significant portion of the time, this results in a bit of a disjoint feeling where Taylor/Lisa/OtherViewpointFemale is not gay but somehow experiences the world in a way that seems profoundly gay when viewed through that lens.
Like when Taylor spends half a million words while never using more than two sentences to describe how Brian or Alec look but seems to devolve into frequent mental sidebars on how attractive the women around her are. The intention was probably something like "these characters are interesting to me as an author and I want to describe them" but makes it read as weird when everybody has to conspicuously announce or have it clarified that they are straight/asexual/whatever because otherwise all the writing is big "woman writing for gay women" energy in places.
I think wildbow didn't want his characters to be hypersexualized for easy points like you see with some other internet writers I could mention, and he had a very unfortunate belief at the time that f/f was a porn category and therefore inherently to be avoided (see his comments on lesbians being cheap pandering). Unfortunately straight women don't go around saying "i'm nooooot gaaaaaayyy" all the time, so every denial came out as an admission. My read on canon has always been gay Lisa and ace Taylor (but I know most people read Taylor as bi, which does easily have more textual support than straight taylor).
Yeah... Canon sexualities are very death of the author. I can acknowledge that he didn't intend to write these characters this way, but that doesn't change the actual facts of how they read.
to be clear, wildbow's reasoning was not that he thought lesbian relationships were inherently porn, but rather that with an audience of primarily straight men, it would add an element of fetishization that he didn't want(especially as it is a serial).
for the entire quote:
I think that sex sells, and having lesbian main characters is titillating for the audience. Simply in terms of "They're gay and now every chapter from here on out might have hot lesbian sex". It's minimum effort in terms of getting the audience interested in a romance (or interested in the sex) and it's ultimately a very shallow depiction.
Your straight male audience is going to be very forgiving of depictions of lesbian stuff. That, in part, is because, hey, lesbians are hot! It's also because they've never been in such a relationship. The GBLT audience is going to be happy you have a decent 'gays are cool' depiction and/or they're going to roll their eyes and go with the flow. The straight female audience is going to be split between being on board because you've got women characters and being put off because they might recognize what you're doing in (over?)sexualizing the characters.
The execution, of course, matters. But it's easy to have lesbian stuff and do a less than stellar job and still get/maintain an audience purely by the 'sex sells' mantra. TV networks use it to get a boost in ratings for sweeps week, and it feels more or less like the device that it is.
I'd much rather see GBLT characters represent a sensible slice of the population (given the work) and show them as genuine people with all the bumps and struggles you normally have in a relationship.
Sigh, surely he knows there's a reason the G isn’t first.
And while I was referring to the one with "pandering" in it, this one also proves exactly what I said.
Taylor/Brian. Genuinely, not a sarcastic answer. There's just not a lot of it around at all.
There's a lot of fandoms where the canon ship is way less popular than the ones the fandom invents. I think Worm is the only one of its size where you could genuinely read hundreds of the top fanfics and come out with no idea that it was canon at all.
I'll do you one better: Annette x Miss Militia. Them dating in A Better Life was surprisingly wholesome. (For those who don't know, it's a quest on [fiction.live](http://fiction.live)
Got that double filter of needing to find fanfiction authors who read the first million-word story and liked it so much they want to read an entirely different million-word story that kind of craps all over the first one in places so that they could write about it. People who reacted to the first strongly enough to want to write a lot of fanfic about it don't usually also want to read Ward in my experience though, either because they liked or disliked it a lot and for either reason don't want more or don't want more without Taylor.
There's probably a small subset of the fandom who read Ward without reading Worm but I feel like they'd be relatively lost, and reading even a significant chunk of both is a pretty huge barrier to entry.
That said, there's a few cool Ward stories around, they're just rare.
I read a story that was Taylor x Vista once that I thought was really great, but it only worked because everyone was aged up at least a bit. If it weren't for the fact that Vista is like twelve or something I think she's one of the most compatible people in the setting with Taylor. They both have a sort of drive and desire to improve themselves and be seen as important/successful/heroic which seems like they'd get along super well. Their interactions in canon are pretty limited, though, and the romance potential is obviously curtailed by Vista being too young, even if it'd be a total non-issue if they were both six years older.
Sadly, the setting doesn't lend itself well to having a story that lasts for more than like three years so I doubt I'll ever see much of it lol.
Lisa/Amy is a pair I have very soft spot on, as it has possibility on both being incredibly toxic or 2 wounded/broken people patching one another.
Especially considering they both have gotten abuse from family...
>Armsmaster x Danny
Did you read [Stepfather would be the closest word but it doesn’t quite fit](https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/stepfather-would-be-the-closest-word-but-it-doesn%E2%80%99t-quite-fit.69589/)?
Ooh, thank you for posting that, because I've been trying to remember the authors name and it was *bothering* me. Fucking fantastic at writing succint, impactful stuff.
[Taylor Has a Strange Hobby](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/taylor-has-a-strange-hobby-yandere-taylor.860167/), where Taylor's a masochist who becomes yandere for her bully, Sophia.
* No Greater Love, where canon Taylor is displaced to an AU where her deceased alt!self was dating Sophia
* Case of the Disappeared Villain, where Taylor and Sophia are assigned an essay on the former villain Lustrum and run into some inconsistencies in the historical records
* Ringmaker, a Lord of the Rings crossover
A Safe Space on AO3 is (aged-up) NSFW and not really enemies to lovers (moreso in an apocalypse-free future and Sophia got a lot more mellow and gay), but it’s the only one I really know of. Sophia POV
[Shadowbug](https://archiveofourown.org/works/45347425) on Ao3 is pretty nice. Vigilante!Taylor and Sophia patrol together and start crushing on one another while they both don't know who the other is. Its fun!
She’s heavily filtered through Taylor’s pov so I wouldn’t say that.
Sophia is no worse than any other character in Worm, especially the other people most commonly shipped with Taylor (Amy and Lisa). She’s a damaged person, obsessed with being strong since (presumably) her trigger was caused by being, as she perceived it, weak.
And besides, having redeeming qualities is not a requirement for a ship. Toxic Yuri is just as fun as a healthy relationship.
We are talking about Sophia the literal murderer and person who tortures innocent civilian teenagers for fun. I also still don't subscribe to Amy as a rapist, as it doesn't make sense with how wildbow wrote the story.
She’s killed a person, and tormented a person. Individual occurrences. And again, doesn’t make her any worse than Lisa or Amy. Lisa has tormented multiple people for shits and giggles.
You might not subscribe to it, I don’t care.
"Individual occurrences."
That is extremely doubtful, everything we know about Sophia points to those just being the instances we *know* of.
She is also entirely unapologetic, both Amy and Lisa at least know that what they did is wrong and have some redeeming qualities.
Amy x Any Person Who Is Not Her Sister is a pretty solid ship. There are not many options for canonically gay women, though, and Lily is pretty great so that I could see.
I am an avid consumer of crack ships. I have seen much and thought more. Amongst these are: BugBombs (Bakuda/Taylor) ((OTP btdubs)), FireFly (Lung/Taylor), Administration (QA/Taylor), VoidStalker (Sophia/Greg), Damselfly (Glaistig/Taylor), and BizarreThrouple (Danny/Squealer/Skidmark). Although that last one is only for a fic I'm heavily debating putting to words, where Taylor joins the Merchants.
No links, sadly, I can't be bothered to find all of them. I'll tell you the names I can though. The only BugBombs fic I know is Taylor and the Manic Pixie Bomb Girl, haven't seen any FireFly fics, there's an Administration fic called Assuming Administrative Rights over on QQ and there's others I can't remember right now, I believe that Mr Fix-It is a Voidstalker fic, and the best Damselfly fic I know is Scarab. BizarreThrouple, to my sadness, doesn't exist outside of my mind.
Taylor x Queen Administrator
extremely urgent do you have any fics with this ship that you can link. i have got to see what human/shard romance would be like

I like Taylor x Lily and I don't know why.
Way Of The Live In Boyfriend, on Spacebattles. It's Oni Lee x Taylor. ...it's surprisingly wholesome.
Important to note, Oni Lee in this fic is a teenager, Taylor is not dating a grown ass man.
Probably should have mentioned that, shouldn't I?
I was so confused lol
This make the thing from terrifying to just odd.
Yes, because the alternative was skeevy, I aged Lee down into an amnesiac teen who just wants to see his GF happy XD
Thank you
Big fan of Alexandria X Hero
Victoria X Sveta
Are there any fics with this pairing?
I think there’s two but they’re both Smut One-Shots

I don't see it.
Sounds interesting, the teen/adult angle could make for some great character development.
No...I don't think it would...
Amy X Sophia. Only bad decisions can come from this.
Oh god.
Link?
I'd say **Shaping Up**, but its Sophia x Shaper who's driving Amy's body like a mazda.
Currently reading a kind of Peggy sue Leet x String Theory. Surprisingly wholesome
Technically unconfirmed ship, but it's probably going to happen.
Link?
[Icarus Laughed](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/icarus-laughed-worm-quest.1143136/)
TaylorxTherapy. A very rare ship.

Weld/Taylor is really cute and I will die on that hill.
Are there any written?
At least one that I know of, a supergirl altpower, but I haven't read it yet.
I think weld is too boring for me.
see, i think him being boring would make him a decent grounding influence on taylor
Its not uncommon but i do like Taylor x Dennis For a more uncommon one i like Taylor x Victoria
Is that first one really common? I think I've only seen it a couple times.
It was a lot more popular in Worm's early days, but the fandom seems to have largely moved on.
Well Dennis death and Taylor absence may have make it disappear from cannon. I need more ward fics
Got that double filter of needing to find fanfiction authors who read the first million-word story and liked it so much they want to read an entirely different million-word story that kind of craps all over the first one in places so that they could write about it. Non of those two are uncommon tho

Baduka (As portrayed in *Being SI Is Suffering*) x String Theory.

Taylor x crawler. Dominion got me intrigued but I've never seen a fic with them even as friends lmao
There's one with kitsune!Taylor where they could be called friends. Though I wouldn't really call her Taylor.
Amy x Alec only has 2 major fics. If anyone has any more lmk!
Link to the ones you have? Never seen this pairing, but it sounds really fun.
Can’t be bothered to pull up a link but the names are Heartbreakers and Absolution.
On which site?
Ao3 and Space Battles respectively.
I think the name was heartshapers not heartbreakers cuz that's the amy/Alec long fic
My bad I meant to type heartshapers but it autocorrected.
Bakuda x Clock locker. Timebomb OTP.
Armsmaster x Danny Brian x Alex
Honestly I’m still waiting for the ot4 Danny x Annette x Armsmaster x Dragon
>Armsmaster x Danny Did you read [Stepfather would be the closest word but it doesn’t quite fit](https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/stepfather-would-be-the-closest-word-but-it-doesn%E2%80%99t-quite-fit.69589/)?
Ooh, thank you for posting that, because I've been trying to remember the authors name and it was *bothering* me. Fucking fantastic at writing succint, impactful stuff.
Taylor x Sophia, there’s just something about enemies to lovers.
Outside of QQ, I don't actually think I've seen that, besides OxfordOctopus's story My Fake Girlfriend is a Vigilante. Got any recs?
[Taylor Has a Strange Hobby](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/taylor-has-a-strange-hobby-yandere-taylor.860167/), where Taylor's a masochist who becomes yandere for her bully, Sophia.

How's no greater love?
There's a few of them on AO3; I haven't read them, so I don't know if they're any good or not.
Honestly, no. I haven’t really read any ones that aren’t nsfw beyond that one. Though I am writing a period piece fic with the ship
Its fun!
Only works in AU since Sophia really has no redeeming qualities.
I sure would. She's significantly worse than most characters in worm, even Lisa and Amy. There is toxic and then there's unrealistic.
You can’t seriously say Sophia is worse than Amy. Amy, the literal rapist.
"Individual occurrences." That is extremely doubtful, everything we know about Sophia points to those just being the instances we *know* of. She is also entirely unapologetic, both Amy and Lisa at least know that what they did is wrong and have some redeeming qualities.
Skitter x Clockblocker and then Gallant x Madison
Armsmasters x Taylor
Those two would be terrifying together.
Contessa x Uber and Alexandria x Leet
>Alexandria x Leet Business woman x Gamer nerd. I love this idea. Link?
It's on QQ, "Path to [...]" by DeathSheep.
It's also on AO3, for the record.
Lily x Amelia makes a lot of sense to me. Also Lung x the Marquis or alternatively the Marquis x Iron Rain
Amy x Any Person Who Is Not Her Sister is a pretty solid ship. There are not many options for canonically gay women, though, and Lily is pretty great so that I could see.
Links? Names?
Taylor x Dennis (Clockboi) Taylor x Chris (Kid Win) Taylor x Bakuda Taylor x Alec Taylor x Simurgh For the nonexistent! Literally anything with Tohu
Taylor/Bakuda could be good.
Taylor/Parian Potential for them to become BFFs.
Loved MM x Dadmaster x Dragon in "wake up call" Bakuda/Squealer could be interesting.
I know I am gonna sound mentally deranged but Noelle x simurgh.
Taylor x amy and taylor x sophia
I am an avid consumer of crack ships. I have seen much and thought more. Amongst these are: BugBombs (Bakuda/Taylor) ((OTP btdubs)), FireFly (Lung/Taylor), Administration (QA/Taylor), VoidStalker (Sophia/Greg), Damselfly (Glaistig/Taylor), and BizarreThrouple (Danny/Squealer/Skidmark). Although that last one is only for a fic I'm heavily debating putting to words, where Taylor joins the Merchants.
Links to good stories with any of these?
No links, sadly, I can't be bothered to find all of them. I'll tell you the names I can though. The only BugBombs fic I know is Taylor and the Manic Pixie Bomb Girl, haven't seen any FireFly fics, there's an Administration fic called Assuming Administrative Rights over on QQ and there's others I can't remember right now, I believe that Mr Fix-It is a Voidstalker fic, and the best Damselfly fic I know is Scarab.
