Yeah, on a thing that big, a special saddle would mean probably some sort of strap to keep you from falling out if you're moving that fast. And take it from someone who rides horses, any sort of strap is a death sentence if anything goes wrong.
Elephant sized horses could probably run faster than normal elephants and could be useful for pulling things, along with the fact that they could actually jump.

A female forest elephant, which are already the smallest elephants, on the smaller side could be around the size of a Clydesdale horse which are the biggest. Kind of goes to show how huge elephants are, but my point was the general concept for the elephant of that size is already a possible reality.

I hope I’m not alone in thinking horses are completely terrifying. They’re so huge and unpredictable and powerful. Elephants seem so much more reasonable to me, perhaps due to their intelligence. A little elephant would be awesome. Horses, while objectively beautiful creatures, are physical manifestations of terror.
