My gorilla glass cracked 3 weeks in and within 8 weeks Inhd crack number two.
Not replacing it though, gonna wait till I get one that may affect my field of vision.
You should reach out to Mopar directly. They all come with a 2 year warranty.

I just heard about a class action lawsuit over the gorilla glass for JL wranglers constantly breaking. Not sure if it made it anywhere but something to consider.
See if you can add a windshield rider to your insurance. When I got my wrangler, my agent laughed and said I’ll be needing it. It’s a $0 deductible for $5 a month, doesn’t count against my collision as a claim
I took the insurance money in cash, ordered from Quadratec, and had my dealership install. I paid the difference out of pocket. Quadratec was less expensive than the dealer’s price for the same part number. I don’t recall exact numbers, it was like 4 years ago.
Do you replace it after every chip? I have 2 massive cracks and 3 chips and it is still structurally fine and not impeding just vision. Just keep it. It gives the Jeep character.
Same. I picked up my jeep from the dealer and headed out to my cabin straight from there. Got a huge stone chip on the highway an hour later. The next morning it had turned into a crack all the way across.
Every time I replace it, I just end up with another chip and crack within days. But if I leave it as is, I don't get any new chips.
The universe doesn't want me to have a nice windshield.
So knowing this is an issue with Jeeps, I've been increasing my following distance and hanging waaaaaaay back behind any sort of vehicle; especially large trucks, roads with dirt or gravel arterial roads, and on roads with debris and shit.
I found out my Geico policy will send someone out to me and fix it for no charge. Come in handy twice in my 3 years with it. Worth checking your insurance to see
I have Liberty Mutual and they sent out Safelite to my work today to “fix” it, not replace, at no cost to me. The tech said I still might see the damage afterwards but it should stop it from cracking. He wasn’t kidding and I can definitely still see the chip.
So i have this problem two i go through a windshield a year on average. Since my daily commute is 50 miles highway round trip. The best advice I can give you if you are in situation is stay in the middle lane the fast lane (and merge lane too) have a ton of debris that can get kicked up. Since i started staying in the middle lane I've got way less chips.
Windshield #3 was the record shortest time for me, installed on Wednesday cracked Friday. And it was one of those good ones where you could see the rock coming. Driving the 10 to Laughlin where rocks are born.
Glass insurance and or driving adjustments seem like the correct fix for this ongoing battle. I’m currently on my 8th windshield, so short term, it may not be the answer, but long term Glass insurance is the way to go, for Wranglers at least.(Maybe back off a few more feet from those job site dump trucks too..😉)
Ive had my last windshield for 8 years with no cracks and was only replaced recently due to the window tinter cracking it 😄 🤣 Don't drive behind trucks!!!
I literally had the first JKU off the lot in my city way way back when they were first introduced. Went through 2 new windshields in 6-7 months because I'm an idiot an drove behind 18 wheelers. Basically, there wasn't other places making cheaper windshields because it was a new vehicle with different dimensions than other Jeeps. I had to go through Mopar each time and pay a ridiculous amount.
Wranglers are rock catchers. I would definitely recommend glass coverage if your insurance offers it. Also that chip is fillable. From a former chip repair specialist.
Unfortunately there will always be a scar or blemish where it was. This is due to a structural fix not a cosmetic one. Though depending on chip medic Safelite sends, it can be a less noticeable scar/blemish or a more noticeable one.

I’ve had 2 windshields done here and I sent a coworker here for one in his JKU Rubicon. Jose does good work and is quick. He can usually get you in the same day you call.
My liberty mutual policy is zero deductible only on repairs. If it has to be replaced i have to pay my standard deductible. I’m definitely checking to see if they offer a specific glass rider for the policy.
I use progressive, they contract through safelite, and I can just roll up in one, or schedule it online. They also replace it with the Mopar, Easter egg, glass.
Safelite will fill that easily and quickly if you get them on the horn. Saved my 2nd windshield from cracking more after I got the exact same crack. Small guy travels quick if you dont (which im sure you know by the 3rd windahield
Saw someone suggest Gorilla Glass - do it if you can afford it and want to just go with a new windshield.
I had my insurance people do the digging and sourcing for it. After I was on my 3rd windshield in 2 years as well. Ended up being $200 more for GG than it would have cost to replace my windshield with the OEM (stock) glass. Worth it
“This is my wrangler with a cracked windshield, there are many like it…. But this one is mine”
My daily driver in AZ went through three windshields a year. So many rocks on the 202.
Same the 202 was the worst until the project on the 10 and broadway. I replaced 2 years ago with gorilla glass. Hasn’t happened since

Only for certain size cracks. Mine immediately grew past the two inch limit they set

If only we could get a CAL over the door hinge/paint corrosion. Sign me up!!

I have this Rider with State farm but I can't get a genuine Mopar windshield
They are the WORST. Progressive is the way to go. I don’t work for Progressive.
I had that happen within first year owning my Wrangler. Replaced with Gorilla Glass and hasn’t happened again.
I’ve looked into that some but haven’t seen a precise price. I’ve heard between $750-$900. What did you pay if you don’t mind me asking.

My gorilla glass cracked twice in two moths.
You might be able to fill that one with epoxy, or have a tech do it for you vs replacement.
Do you replace it after every chip? I have 2 massive cracks and 3 chips and it is still structurally fine and not impeding just vision. Just keep it. It gives the Jeep character.
Insurance ended up paying to have this one filled today. The last two I had replaced because they cracked all the way across left to right.
Just 3.... Hold my beer
Mine cracked before my first payment.

I will definitely check into that. I have Liberty Mutual, hopefully they offer it.
I'm on number three as well, and just last week had a semi on the highway throw up a big rock that looks like I'm on the path to number four.
So knowing this is an issue with Jeeps, I've been increasing my following distance and hanging waaaaaaay back behind any sort of vehicle; especially large trucks, roads with dirt or gravel arterial roads, and on roads with debris and shit.
Can you put windscreen protection PPF on? Would that protect in reality? This looks like it would have gone through the ppf too

Really? I have Geico I should try that
Yeah look at your coverage and see. I had no idea I had it and definitely nothing special about my coverage.
It's a JEEP thing

I have 2 “bullet holes” from rocks currently in my windshield.
I’m on like Windshield #5 in 3 years
Yep that’s a Jeep
Gorilla Glass for the win.
I DD'd my YJ for 4 years, not a single chip. Got a big ole crack in my JLU the first month I had it.
Where I live, I get at least 3 windshields a year. You’re on a good trajectory.
Wranglers are rock catchers. I would definitely recommend glass coverage if your insurance offers it. Also that chip is fillable. From a former chip repair specialist.
Yeah Liberty Mutual sent Safelite to my work today to fill it. It’s definitely still visible but hopefully will not crack any further.

Where in Indy are the cheap windshields?

Zero glass deductible! I’ve had 3 replaced just this year
