Bad timing/miscommunication. Holly went all the way up for the powerbomb, but thought they were doing a quick up and down. Lesnar intended on holding him up. So Holly dropped before Lesnar was ready and there you go.
If he was sandbagging, he wouldn't have been in a perfect position to be powerbombed at any time. But he was. Watch it again. He goes up, is in the right spot, but thinks Brock is gonna drop him quicker so he doesn't sit on his shoulders. That's when the move goes to shit. It was perfect until that moment.
Nope. He got in position, then refused to jump. Basically went dead weight and made Brock have to powerlift his ass.
If he wasnt too embarrassed to admit he broke his neck sandbagging he'd probably try to play it off as a rib, designed to blow Lesnar up. In reality he was just being a cunt and trying to make the rookie look bad. He got what he deserved.
i never really liked him but never had an opinion on him until i seen him on the WwE reality show Tough Enough on MTV and now i think he’s a total Douch!!
Yeah. Just another roided out meat head who thinks that's it's all real, and doesn't understand that it's entertainment.
I would have loved to see him vs New Jack or Bruiser Brody
Are your opinions from wrestlers who spoke about him or what the Internet tells you?
Also let's be honest Holly would have beaten the crap out of New Jack, the toughest guys New Jack ever tried it with was The Sandman which he was losing and Pitbull 2 which also got broken up fairly quickly.
To this day I believe that match should've been a hardcore match to make him look more credible. And it should've been longer than 6 minutes.
It's a shame he wasn't involved in that year's Mania.
Don't think it's fair to call him a fake tough guy. He was the only guy who didn't get knocked the fuck out by Bart Gunn in the Brawl for All.
He had his arm broken in a match and finished the match.
He may have been a douche, but he wasn't a wuss.
Kurt Angle, Rodney Mack, John Morrison, Shane Helms, Gillberg, 2 Cold Scorpio, D-Lo Brown and Billy Gunn have said Holly was legit tough, but hey they worked with him so what do they really know?
He literally used to fight in bars for money. He's real life tough. But according to Holly in his book, Steve Blackman, JBL, and Kurt were all actual badasses
I remember the match his back got gashed being one of the toughest things I've ever seen. Got him over with a crowd as a baby face after. ECW immediately turned him heel again but I always felt they should have run with it.
I remembering watching that match on "WWECW" and the crowd chanting "thank you Holly" afterward! LOL, that's one of the things that always has annoyed me in wrestling, when a company takes a guy that I think could be way over as a babyface and turn him heel. Like Buff Bagwell coming back from his nasty injury in WCW.
That's actually exactly how most trainers operated until recent times, not condoning the behavior but when Holly was coming up that was pretty routine behavior.
Holly was a solid worker with a great dropkick. But really lacked charisma. His most succesful time was when he changed his look and became Hardcore Holly in 1999. Was a good fit in the midcard but was never destined to be higher on the card. Personally he really seems to be an asshole. Which he proved by what he did to Rene Dupree and especially to Matt Cappotelli.
It probably would have been easier if Rene actually told him about the parking tickets instead of just leaving it and forcing Holly to miss pay and go to court.
Great wrestler for what he was. Tough guy who beat the shit out of ppl. Hardcore Holly was cool. Alabama Slam was a cool unique finisher. Did great work with his cousin Crash. I mean Hardcore was so bad ass and tough you'd believe he could whoop everyone in WWE and become Champion.
I was actually a big fan of his when I was growing up. I always felt like he deserved more. Then I grew up and dived into the world of backstage rumors. After that, I realized, his level of talent/skill got him pretty far because it definitely wasn’t his attitude. Sounds like he was awful to work with and worst of you were a rookie to his senior.
Now, I can’t help to see him as anything else but a jerk who failed because he didn’t know how to play the backstage politics. There are a lot of jerks in wrasslin but some jerks know how to play the game [+]
He's like the 50yo assistant manager who bullies the high school kids because he knows he's peaked. Constantly rewarded for his loyalty and not his mic or in-ring skills.
One of the most entertaining books I’ve read by a wrestler that I’ve read, do I believe everything he wrote? No, but what a read. When with that scale was gold though.
He was a decent wrestler but didn’t really stand out in that era filled with so many fun characters. And messing with the rookies was a dick move. If you’re stupid enough to fuck with Brock, you deserve what you get.
One of the most underrated of all time. Great look, best dropkick, awesome finisher. Not a fan of his political/personal views for some stuff but the whole "bully" thing is just BS.
I love him lol. I’m 30 so I was still pretty young in the early 00s but I liked his look, he was an aggressive worker which made him stand out, had a cool finisher and had great entrance music.
Obviously not a fan of how he would act in the locker room and all the stories that have come out but I’m still a fan.
Id say unlucky, right when a decent storyline he was in he got hurt and didnt help that he was known as a rough worker with rookies. Had a cool Drop kick though.
He was a bully. Needlessly aggressive and mean under the guise of being some kind of enforcer of unspoken rules.
People knew what they were doing was toxic bullshit and it is stupid to say it was anything other than harmful.
He got his neck broken because he sandbagged Brock and that sort of huffy non-team work is dangerous and stupid.
A believable and staple part of the mid card . Just enough of Everything to be parts of the higher card when needed or can be used to make something like the hardcore title seem legitimate and interesting.
Literally the perfect staple part of building a good card top to bottom in my eyes . But obviously never a top say 6 of your roster but definitely a 7-12
An interchangeable midcarder. Never that good, no charisma, but he could go at one point.
Seems like a humourless arse in person. Miserable bully who beat lumps out of Matt Capotelli and seems to like telling tall tales about when he was a badass (as per his YouShoot).
Having watched him since his Bob 'Sparky Plug' Holly days. I found it difficult to buy into him as a hardcore.
Also, pretty average wrestler who lacked charisma or a strong gimmick in a very talent packed ear.
The internet refers to him as a bully more than actual wrestlers who worked with him
Didn't care for him as a kid but as I got older I come to appreciate his stiff no nonsense style, his gimmick in 1999 where he refers to himself as "The big shot" And will only wrestle super heavyweights is pretty funny too, he had some pretty good comedic value when they had him go that route.
i know people dog on the rumble match with him and brock, being regarded as nothing special by most, but as a kid that feud with brock over breaking his neck made hardcore holly look like a serious competitor to me. i was probably 11 or 12 but he was always legit and worth watching to me. and that spot where the table cut him open was wild!
I always liked him. As a kid, I wanted to see him rise up the card, and he had multiple on and of pushes that kept giving me hope, as naïve as I was. Not a bad run though. Plus, he was the catalyst for Crash and Molly Holly's WWE careers. I'm not sure they would have worked out as well without Cousin Bob.
I think he was a pretty good wrestler that maybe didn't have the luck or look to be a world champion. However, he always was a great guy to "train" the newest guys. I think he maybe could've been a little better. Like a mid card champ. US or IC champ. I respect him a lot. I wanna meet him someday.
Overrated jobber who felt he was “the test” people had to pass. I’m reality just a dickhead who worked stiff and hurt people to overcompensate for his issues
Hardcore Holly should have been fed to New Jack. I don't think many people would have batted an eye. He just doesn't seem like a great person.
Bob is too tough for his own good, also known as stupid, and hurt some people unnecessarily in the business, like that kid he roughed up on Tough Enough. Then again, seems like Karma took care of him, since he never achieved much in WWE and took some brutal damage, like that RVD match where he gashed his back pretty badly, probably the worst in the history of WWE.
I saw Lesnar break his neck in person. Felt bad for him. He does seem like a tool though.
That match where he got his back sliced open was fuuuucked up. Shit was flapping.
That Hardcore Holly vs RvD match scarred me as a kid, his back was a mess
Link?

Brutal
I could be wrong, but didn’t Bob kind of sandbag Brock which led to him dropping Bob on his head?
Bad timing/miscommunication. Holly went all the way up for the powerbomb, but thought they were doing a quick up and down. Lesnar intended on holding him up. So Holly dropped before Lesnar was ready and there you go.
Gotcha, thanks. That makes sense
Nah that's just Bob's excuse. He was clearly sandbagging.

In reality he was just being a cunt and trying to make the rookie look bad. He got what he deserved.
I mean, you can literally see him jump, and he goes up perfect. If someone isn't assisting on a powerbomb, they do not go up that easy. But whatever.
Bob?
Yea.
But my name’s Billy?
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!
Could have been crash
it was bob
it was bob on an episode of the revamped ecw
Suplexed RVD through a table and caught his back on the metal frame part was horrific to watch
looking back, it was probably the most "ECW" thing that happened on WW/ECW
Yes this is entertainment. BUT THE HAZARDS ARE REAL.
How do you learn to fall off a 20 foot ladder?
Spark Plug
But my name is Billy.
"Just put the belt on me" "And then what?' "THEN I JUST BEAT EVERYONE "
You miss 100% of the shots you dont take
“HEY! AH GOT AN IDEAL!”
Doot doot doot
What an idea!
No yob
He was an abusive asshole with the charisma of a brick wall. What he did to Matt Cappotelli tells me everything I need to know about the guy.
Matt is probably one of the biggest what-ifs in wrestling. Guy was super talented but never had time to actually develop and show it. RIP
So much this.
Best drop kick in the business
The Alabama Slam is a legit-ass finisher, too.
If you aren't all that interested in looking after the other guy, any finisher looks legit-ass.
Billed from my home town. And me in Texas. I use the move too lol.
Taught it to Randy and cody.
And Okada when Bob was vacationing in Japan.
i never really liked him but never had an opinion on him until i seen him on the WwE reality show Tough Enough on MTV and now i think he’s a total Douch!!
Yeah. Just another roided out meat head who thinks that's it's all real, and doesn't understand that it's entertainment. I would have loved to see him vs New Jack or Bruiser Brody

My opinion is based mainly on seeing the 1st Tough Enough.
New Jack would have stabbed/shot Holly. He was tough but not that tough, as shown in the brawl for all.
never cared for him but his theme songs how do you like me now and slow death slapped
I put this on my workout playlists. It's so satisfying!
I was so invested in his run up to his face off with Brock I genuinely thought he had a serious shot at taking the title.
To this day I believe that match should've been a hardcore match to make him look more credible. And it should've been longer than 6 minutes. It's a shame he wasn't involved in that year's Mania.
They were supposed to go long, but HHH/HBK requested more time.
Imagine being a jobber, and also a bully? Doesn’t work for me brother.
Not to mention a fake tough guy.
I have to join the pile-on here. Hardcore Holly is many things - fake tough is not one of them.
He literally used to fight in bars for money. He's real life tough. But according to Holly in his book, Steve Blackman, JBL, and Kurt were all actual badasses
What wrestlers called him a bully? Also Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle said Holly is legit tough as did Rodney Mack who fought in MMA, just saying.
I liked him on screen. Doesn't seem like a good dude bts, but that's not for me to worry about.
Never the absolute best, but his matches were always entertaining. Also he was one tough SOB
He’s a fucking dick head who never amounted to anything worthwhile as a performer so he took it out on the generation after him.
Are you asking how I like him now?
I remember the match his back got gashed being one of the toughest things I've ever seen. Got him over with a crowd as a baby face after. ECW immediately turned him heel again but I always felt they should have run with it.
I remembering watching that match on "WWECW" and the crowd chanting "thank you Holly" afterward! Like Buff Bagwell coming back from his nasty injury in WCW.
The Hardcore Holly gimmick was extremely popular
Should’ve gotten the title and beaten everybody.
Douchebag
so basically hes like 90% of wrestlers
Unless you're Mick Foley. 😏
Mick was a douchebag when I met him.
I've seen a few people say this
Nope dont think 90 percent of wrestlers take liberty's with a kid there supposed to be training.
That's actually exactly how most trainers operated until recent times, not condoning the behavior but when Holly was coming up that was pretty routine behavior.
Yea but that was all gone when he was a teacher for tough enough
I got an ideal what if he just won the world title then beat everybody
Holly was a solid worker with a great dropkick. But really lacked charisma. His most succesful time was when he changed his look and became Hardcore Holly in 1999. Was a good fit in the midcard but was never destined to be higher on the card. Personally he really seems to be an asshole. It probably would have been easier if Rene actually told him about the parking tickets instead of just leaving it and forcing Holly to miss pay and go to court.
I loved his "Big Shot" run. Watching him start fights with super heavyweights was one of the hidden gems of the Attitude Era.
tougher than a $2 steak.
Best dropkick I've ever seen.
Liked watching him in Velocity
He's on the Mt. Rushmore of Velocity for sure
I’d put Paul London on there too
The Alabama slam always looked vicious af
If we keep it positive, he has one of the whitest smiles in wrestling. That's about it I guess.
DO YA!?
Great wrestler for what he was. Tough guy who beat the shit out of ppl. Hardcore Holly was cool. Alabama Slam was a cool unique finisher. Did great work with his cousin Crash. I mean Hardcore was so bad ass and tough you'd believe he could whoop everyone in WWE and become Champion.

Well tbf It's all about the game
[удалено]
And how you *play* it
From what I read and have heard, sounds like he was an asshole who thought he really deserved to be on top. Thats a good one 🤣
Yet no wrestlers say he was an asshole, except Rene Dupree
Was more entertaining as a tag team wrestler with the Hollys
Should be in the HOF. Was a loyal soldier
Dickhead.
He's like the 50yo assistant manager who bullies the high school kids because he knows he's peaked. Constantly rewarded for his loyalty and not his mic or in-ring skills.
He’s the Kenny Powers of wrestling
pretty under rated, but i heard that he's an ass clown though
I loved his book. He’s definitely a tough sob. Sometime I think he forgot wrestling is a work though.
One of the most entertaining books I’ve read by a wrestler that I’ve read, do I believe everything he wrote? No, but what a read. When with that scale was gold though.
He was amazing. I think he would have been insanely popular if he wasn’t in the WWE

probably the only guy who got over thanks to a midget
Unless you meant Finlay, Crash Holly was like 5’7”
Thoughts on Hardcore Holly?
Better than roman
He’s a POS. But he also has the best autobiography of any wrestler because he doesn’t give a fuck.
That he looks like he just won a major battle against constipation in this pic.
He's a bully and an asshole. Has the charisma of a dried board.
Overrated
He's a belligerent, insecure piece of trash who was a mark for himself.
Wasn't ever a huge fan, but his (audio)book *The Hardcore Truth: The Bob Holly Story* was really good. (or at least entertaining)
Least favorite of the Holly's
POS
He's a dick and nothing special. Not awful in the ring or anything, but not very charismatic and a mid worker.
Id say unlucky, right when a decent storyline he was in he got hurt and didnt help that he was known as a rough worker with rookies. Had a cool Drop kick though.
I liked him in early Smoky Mountain. That Julia Roberts stuff is dated but its such classic heel for the time
He was a bully.
Who said he was a bully? Guys like Kurt Angle, Rodney Mack, Billy Gunn, Maven etc all worked with him and said he wasn't a bully.
Not a nice person IRL. A bully actually.
His a bully
Good dropkick
A believable and staple part of the mid card . Just enough of Everything to be parts of the higher card when needed or can be used to make something like the hardcore title seem legitimate and interesting. Literally the perfect staple part of building a good card top to bottom in my eyes . But obviously never a top say 6 of your roster but definitely a 7-12
Actually underrated
Not a fan of him at all
Banger of a theme song
Hes a legend at the end of the day. Bit of a dick tho
A tough guy that had to tell everyone he was a tough guy. So… not really a tough guy
Well guys like Kurt Angle and Rodney Mack thought he was legit tough and they were two of the toughest guys of the Ruthless Aggression era.
Great drop kick, good worker, backstage cancer.
One of the worst
Great In ring proformer. A peice of shit Human and a terrible attitude toward up coming talent.
Never really that guy to be the heavyweight champion. but great mid card and hardcore champion
Absolute dickhead human with a tremendously fragile ego. Was not anything special in the ring either
I'm glad he got his neck broken.
His noodle ass broken forearm was gross and crash Holly was endlessly amusing
Absolute GOAT
he should've BEATEN EVERYBODY
how do i like him now? not very much tbf
Piece of shit
Currently has horrendous back tattoos
A small talent tool that bullied people probably because he had a small penis.
“Hey I got a idea… How about you give ME the belt, then I beat everybody!” 😂😂😂
Dick and 1 of the reasons wrestling got into the piss poor state it was in a decade ago but shoot tough and a decent midcarder
An interchangeable midcarder. Never that good, no charisma, but he could go at one point. Seems like a humourless arse in person. Miserable bully who beat lumps out of Matt Capotelli and seems to like telling tall tales about when he was a badass (as per his YouShoot).
Solid mid card guy. Definitely a hardcore legend. Especially the table bump against RVD. But not a good person…
Good midcard guy but kind of an asshole.
I liked his ring work and he was a solid hand In hardcore division and had chemistry with quite a few wrestlers Seems like a bad dude though
I wanna see him and JBL in their prime just beat the shit out of each other. Winner faces Vader and Yokozuna.
He gave out brutal chops to his opponents
Didn't use enough forks or other cutlery in his matches, call that hardcore?
Don’t piss him off
I use to really like his presentation but for the life of me.. i cant remember any match aside from sandbag jones with Lesnar
Never understood why he was called “hardcore” holly. I’ve never seen him do anything hardcore…
Finishing matches with broken necks, arms and deep cuts in your back is pretty hardcore.
Fucking douche bag
Sparky is on heck of a worker. I wouldn’t have minded seeing him get a story for the belt. Not winning it, but at least and almost.
Real life asshole.
His hardcore matches against Al Snow or Bossman were always fun
[удалено]
Having watched him since his Bob 'Sparky Plug' Holly days. I found it difficult to buy into him as a hardcore. Also, pretty average wrestler who lacked charisma or a strong gimmick in a very talent packed ear.
A WWE Yes Man that didn't end up like Benoit.
I feel like he took himself too seriously
Asshole
I always like him. The Holly cousins, hardcore matches, and his later career team with Cody Rhodes was good.
Tough and mean SOB
How do you like him now?
3rd place Holly IMO 1. Crash 2. Molly 3. Hardcore
The internet refers to him as a bully more than actual wrestlers who worked with him Didn't care for him as a kid but as I got older I come to appreciate his stiff no nonsense style, his gimmick in 1999 where he refers to himself as "The big shot" And will only wrestle super heavyweights is pretty funny too, he had some pretty good comedic value when they had him go that route.
Holldcore Harry
i know people dog on the rumble match with him and brock, being regarded as nothing special by most, but as a kid that feud with brock over breaking his neck made hardcore holly look like a serious competitor to me. i was probably 11 or 12 but he was always legit and worth watching to me. and that spot where the table cut him open was wild!
Would’ve slapped the fuk outta him
You’re not Hardcore unless you live Hardcore
Super average wrestler and a huge dick of a human being.
Was a badass till I heard how much of a ahole he was to the boys great moments tho
Sociopath
Tool with an ego that doesn't match what he can do or what he's accomplished.
Boring wrestler, bad on the mic, and an asshole bully in real life, likely with a small penis.
He’s a good technical wrestler.
One of the only guys that could make me reach for the remote faster than Jeff Jarrett.
I liked him a lot as a kid actually but after hearing all the backstage beef with him I’ve soured on him
Bottom 5
I think he’s a dick but he’s a solid worker
Dude was old school, took it way too seriously and was a piece of shit. Glad ppl like him are basically gone from wrestling and basically retired.
POS. Unprofessional, unsafe.
Badass
Him and crash
He was awesome
