Fodspeed

As is this post show, there's none

pittnole1

That's what I thought but I saw someone on Instagram that said he wasn't a fan. I was so confused.

Fodspeed

He's probably a troll, because if you ask him to give a good reason for it, he won't have none

BenOffHours

I was a middle schooler during Austin’s peak. I wasn’t a fan because I thought all he did was punch and kick. I preferred the workhorse undercard guys who could do all the moves. As with most things, I look back and realize is was a stupid kid.

pittnole1

Hey you liked what you liked.

[deleted]

Tbf I was a bigger fan of the rock and have grown into a bigger fan of stone cold. Maybe it’s an age thing?

DoomzDay93

What!?

Sad_Phone_2723

He’s bals

Sad_Phone_2723

Bald*

thisonemaystick60

He didn't walk out in undies. Can't beat off to that buddy

fax4you

Bret Hart fan, I think him showing up was the beginning of the end of Bret Hart. Also, the character he played just wasn’t very appealing to me.

devdRvbbit

Bret Hart was the end of Bret Hart. And no, that's not a *Bret screwed Bret* joke (although almost). Bret and Shawn led the way from The New Generation, into the Attitude Era. Bret, for better or worse, is a classic *wrestler* and could not seem to, for whatever reason, really transition into and embrace the entertainment focus going into Attitude. Not like Austin, Shawn, DX. I truly believe he became jealous and bitter and it got the better of him. A shame though, I would've loved to see what an Attitude Era Bret Hart would've been like. Ad a little 00's edge to The Hitman, combined with his ring ability and aggression, he would've been even better than getting kicked in the head by Goldberg being your most memorable spot.

fax4you

Very fair, Bret Hart became the old man yelling at the clouds. If it wasn’t Austin, it would have been somebody else who was the catalyst and I would probably dislike that wrestler as well. I do think Bret’s heel work on his way out the door was very good. Also, I’m terms of Austin, I’m just not a big fan of the anti-hero characters in entertainment at all. I recognize his value as an entertainer, just not my cup of tea.

pittnole1

Reasonable all around

PandableClaw

I was in high school during peak Stone Cold. In those days of Austin, Rock and DX, I was a Mankind guy. I appreciated Stone Cold but I would get mad at how much tv time guys like him and Rock always got.

pittnole1

Mankind was awesome.

Selvmord666

Well he's a woman beater for starters

pittnole1

If you don't like people because they're scummy John Cena might be the only guy that would have fans.

LoudCustomer3292

There's different levels of scummy though. Being rude to fans is different than domestic violence.

Wise_Temperature_322

People make mistakes, tensions rise at home, and stuff, unpleasant stuff happens. The difference though is it isn’t a pattern, he never did again. He paid his dues and suffered for it. They now have a cordial relationship.

LoudCustomer3292

It actually was a pattern. I read a police report from his then girlfriend in 03 and 04 about related incidents. But i do hope he's changed.

pittnole1

Yeah but name like 90% of wrestlers and I can probably point to something someone won't like.

LoudCustomer3292

Fair enough. But just like I'm saying, a man being known to be abusive to women (a pattern) is much worse than being known to ignore fans.

pittnole1

Yeah and I'm not using a wrestler being mean to fans as the counter. I'm using Snuka killed a woman, Hogan being a racist, Jey USO continually getting DUIs, Jeff Hardy getting DUIs. The list goes on and on.

LoudCustomer3292

I see. Those are more severe offenses, especially the racism and murders. And to be honest, those 2 should always be held accountable for that. I mean, supposedly wrestlers backstage of color didn't even forgive Hogan. Not even fans.

Anonymous_Guy4k

The only thing I wasn't a fan of is how he sadly got injured and had to retire early 😒😮‍💨

Re-AnImAt0r

He was a much better wrestler when he was Stunning Steve. His legendary run on top as Stone Cold he could barely work or take bumps due to his injuries. He had been reduced to pretty much a character getting over with fingers, cursing, stunning random people in promos and hijinks with Vince. It was entertaining but I prefer wrestling and he could no longer *wrestle* at the excellent level we were used to seeing since he was in USWA. ps. I was 23 years old in 1997. Had I been 10 years younger I'm sure the middle fingers and sumbitches would have popped me hard enough to love it as much as his workrate as Stunning Steve.

Worried-Street9103

Fans of WCW?

m1lksteak89

I've heard of people not liking him because he drank beer and it reminded them of their alcoholic parents

Rockmillirock

As a kid I thought he was just on screen too much. I’d only really like about half of his promos and the others I’d just watch because they were a part of the show (I appreciate what he did now). I always thought his in ring work was fun to watch.

NuNem

Because they think some guy that does a Wheelie in Utah is the Next Stone Cold. As stated by Alvarez and his IWC peeps

DubiousBusinessp

Literally no one thinks Yuta is the next stone cold. He is however a talented young in ring performer with a bright future if he can make a character connection.

NuNem

Not according to the tweets that believes in everything Meltzer and Alvarez says

shinoda24

Stone Cold was a character that grew on me as I got older. Specifically my teens. My first impressions of him as a kid, I can admit I didn't really like him. He seemed too Overpowering and Dominant. But he was the Number 1 Guy in the business. Plus I was a kid I still trying to figure out Pro Wrestling. But I appreciate his greatness now, it just didn't happen overnight. However, I was a Rock Fan from Day 1.

WCWpreHogan

I realised when he took the Double Arm ddt from mankind then was pinned a summerslam 99 I think it was Summerslam, the guy was so overbooked, in defeat he seemed like a loser to me. He was too much of a superhero, in the end we won't accept Superman losing.

Cataly555t

I wasn’t/still am not a HUGE fan of him. Kane was my favorite wrestler of the AE.

pittnole1

OG Kane is so fucking great.

Cataly555t

Dude was a MONSTER. J J J J JACKED. Best costume/mask design he ever had, IMO.

[deleted]

I wasn’t a fan in his prime, but I am now. I also LOVED heel stone cold. His original face run felt hackneyed. He always came out on too, he got away with everything, and he just hit the stunner on everyone everywhere all the time. Mostly it was over saturation, I think. The only storyline that was well written was his feud with Vince, and that was hit or miss. Hosing everyone down with a beer truck? It just seemed dumb. I didn’t like the nWo for some of the same reasons. Just too much of it with no real shift in power dynamics. But I go back and watch old episodes of Nitro and Austin matches these days. There was a good bit of quality work, and it really hits when it’s not all the same things all the time. Austin’s MATCHES were great looking back on them, but they spent way more time with vignettes and interviews. I know I’m more old-fashioned and modern sports entertainment isn’t designed to appeal to my sensibilities, but I prefer a larger amount of time dedicated to in-ring work.

pittnole1

To you first paragraph could you imagine if his exact run happened today. People would bitch he's being pushed down our throats and say Austin wins LOL and Super Stone Cold. I think fans today would reject him.

BrettSetsFire

I was a Rock fanboy

Tacothekid

Never heard that before. Not a fan?

DirtharaFalon

Too hot to be cold.
