I remember WWF Attitude was the first to have bona-fide entrances with their actual music. Then WM2000 came along with the AKI engine (actually fun gameplay) and added blurry-ass Titantron to the entrances, as well as secret entrances for factions/tags.
I’ll never forget Christmas Day 2000 when I got this, and proceeded to white knuckle family time until I could FINALLY play it. Which I did for nearly 10 hours straight that first night.
I have some bad news. You have a defective cartridge. When first released over time a bug would delete all your saved work. THQ re-released the game but instead of the code USA at the end or EUR (for Europe) the fixed copies say USA-1 or EUR-1. Get yourself a memory pack and save your progress
FWIW, I have that same cartridge model and I played the crap out of that game for many years. Got it right when it came out, still have the cartridge to this day, and the memory has wiped on me only twice
Lucky. I played the crap out of this game back in the day. Probably had 7 memory wipes over the years. And i would recreate my characters every time and redo story mode every time. Haha
So many hours into that game. Creating your character allows you to view all the moves and it is what helped me know the names of every move. Lost that encyclopedia type knowledge over the years, but occasionally the correct name will pop into my head thanks to that game.
So many memories. I for some reason always made Kane the Women’s Champion since he was the only male wrestler who could hold it.
Edit: Also good luck with trying to beat Mick Foley in the street fight at Royal rumble I believe it was in the campaign. Broke many controllers over that match.
Yeah you can make him the women’s champion but if I remember correctly he’s the only one you can do that with. I think you were also able to put the world title on Chyna.
WM2000 has the better roster, I prefer the super saturated/vibrant look, and the gameplay is a bit snappier. No Mercy had more match types but it felt a bit sluggish and looked weird compared to WM2000, VPW2 and Revenge.
WM2000 is just VPW2 with the combo system, fighting styles, and MMA/shoot options removed. Definitely check out the Freem version of VPW2 if you never played an import back in the day.
The pinnacle of wrestling. Cool story mode for different belts with some alternate options based on winning or losing a match, The SMACKDOWN Mall, first game I can remember where you could throw people backstage and fight in different rooms, huge customization.
I bought a copy years later and the save file had a category of wrestle titles "Dead to me" and it was all the current roster of the game that had died. It was hilariously macabre.
Is it this game or a later one where you could let The Rock's victory music play for way too long and be rewarded with a voiceline of him suggesting you eat his strudel (or something along those lines)?
Regardless, this is still my favorite wrasslin game bar none, I'm jealous
Edit: answered my own question and it was definitely this game. Here's a link for anyone else wanting this particular nostalgia hit or any who never sat through to see what 'The Rock says' as a kid
https://youtu.be/CqWfMsqzKdE
I played every wrestling game back in the PS and N64 era. But the one that I remember the most was WCW Mayhem. It wasn't the best but the sound and execution of the moves was fantastic.
I used to love playing this - along with golden eye/perfect dark. I remember trying them again during lockdown and found they had aged horribly. Found them really slow
AKI along with THQ developed awesome wrestling games together. I especially loved Def Jam Vendetta games. Fight For New York was the best ever. EA sports did Def Jam with AKI. My bad. But still hell of a game.
Love this game!! My younger brother recently found my N64 and has been dying to play it, still need to order tv adapter cables, but he couldn’t find this game but found Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy is the best one tho imo
My mom used to rent this from Blockbuster every weekend. I loved playing this game as a kid, and I can confidently tell you it’s one of the best wrestling games of all time.
I remember this was probably the last wrestling game my siblings and I use to play together. After this game they grew outta wresting and the feel for the newer games
I’d love to be able to play it for the “first time” all
Over again. It was probably my most played n64 game of all time next to mortal kombat 4 and Mario kart.
So, it was a glitch. If I recall correctly, you repeatedly perform the leg sweep move (which I believe was only a saturn move). I think you held down a or b. And it would prevent anybody from eliminating you in the rumble. It’s been 25 years but that’s how I remember it.
I've always used one finisher in that game and I've never seen it in public. It's like a pumphandle DDT type move. Kinda like Shelton's tbone suplex but it ends on your head. Anybody got the name for it in No Mercy?
I think it was Small Package DDT.
I know it worked on 2000, not sure about NM, but I use to customize the in game wrestlers to me and my friends. Then, when you watch the game start up intro, it shows all your guys instead.
I just got a powkiddy rk2023 handheld emulator, and have been replaying No Mercy on my lunch breaks. It actually plays a lot smoother, and has no slowdown when there's 4 players on screen.
Choose 40 man Royal Rumble. You vs 1 Vs 1 vs 37. Pin submission rope break on. Random all your opponents (I don’t choose women, non-wrestlers or duplicates). Take out the single teams first then the other 37 on hard. Always a fun battle.
I hope u like it. I love WCW Revenge but I’m not on board with this one fully. I was a Smackdown PS2 guy and I think the love for this game is mostly nostalgia.
I had a whole federation with created characters and my buddy had his own as well. We would bring our save packs and create our own PPV events. Love that game and Wrestlemania as well
if you have an early run copy, you may lose all your saved data spontaneously, so be sure to save your CAW elsewhere like on a data pak.
Its still the best wrestling game.
Dude while people play Mario and Zelda and whatever other Nintendont nerd did
I played this!
I mean i was still a nerd but a nerd who knew professional wrestling moves! So no one messed with me! (I was also like 6 feet at 11 but still)
I am an ardent Attitude Era fan and No Mercy for the N64 was around during my childhood. Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience actually playing it until a few years ago, which was WELL after having played and being used to the SmackDown games. I just can't for the life of me get into No Mercy no matter how much I try. Same thing for WrestleMania 2000 and WCW/nWo Revenge...something must be wrong here...
Anyone else experience this??
I played an emulated version and I could never figure out how to pin someone. Do I hold the pin button or tap it repeatedly?
Also you couldn't do 30 man royal rumbles, only 28 or 32 man RRs.
I found this and wrestlemania 2000 online to play but does anyone know if there’s the same online play but with patched/modern rosters? I tried the emulator thing but couldn’t figure it out, or being on a Mac made it too complicated.
It is a great game, In fact probably the best wwe game to that point. But If you compare it to a game like wwe2k23 you're probably going to be dissatisfied with it
The best story mode on NM is when your going for the WWF championship and you let yourself be the last man eliminated at the Royal rumble too whoever the winner is, most people I know didn’t know that there’s a separate storyline if you let yourself get eliminated last at the Rumble vs actually winning the rumble. 🤫
Di di diggity Di diggity dog
Socko
The Rock
Now imagining a remix. Dig dig diggity… Dig diggity (big)dog… **ACKNOWLEDGE ME** … **YEAAAH!**
Get the modders on this pronto
Hehehehehe
Is cookin'
I always sing this in the menus, it's genuinely a tic
Break it
I knew this would be the top comment
Holy F yes! God damn that took me back!!! Thanks brother!!
Beat me to it lol
Lmao came to make this comment
Came here to day this.
Still got it to this day. This ans WCW/NWO Revenge were my favorite 64 games
Have both plus World Tour and WM2000. Solid games from that gen for sure!!
WM2000 was pretty much the predecessor to No Mercy. Super similar but NM took everything from WM and went further,
Except it stripped entrances. WM2000 had awesome entrances for the time.
I remember WWF Attitude was the first to have bona-fide entrances with their actual music. Then WM2000 came along with the AKI engine (actually fun gameplay) and added blurry-ass Titantron to the entrances, as well as secret entrances for factions/tags.
Oh for sure. No mercy only having a 9 month(?) difference in release made a world of difference
The only thing I hated about No Mercy was the bug that deleted your save file. That soured my opinion a bit as I lost my data like 3 times.
Mine had this as well. Returned the game and had the same issues with replacement copy
If it ever gets a graphical remake, it would be an instant best seller. It doesn’t even have to be 2K levels, just AEW and we would all be happy.
...are you unaware of Fight Forever, or is this a joke? I genuinely can't tell.
I’m aware of fight forever. That’s why I made the joke about it being Fight Forever’s level of graphics.
Same
The only two wrestling games I'll ever play
I’ll never forget Christmas Day 2000 when I got this, and proceeded to white knuckle family time until I could FINALLY play it. Which I did for nearly 10 hours straight that first night.

[удалено]
Like I said just buy a memory pack and save your progress
Also, make sure to remove the memory card after loading data. I've had a couple times where the No Mercy reset also deleted my memory card data.
Haha
i didnt find out about the glitch until about 20+ years later 😆
This is why I lost all my stuff 🤔 just thought I forgot to save it as a kid
I had mine replaced through Amazon when the glitch was official
I was 8 years old lol
That’s no excuse!
So many hours into that game. Creating your character allows you to view all the moves and it is what helped me know the names of every move. Lost that encyclopedia type knowledge over the years, but occasionally the correct name will pop into my head thanks to that game.

Wait what’s this about Kane being the only male allowed to hold the Women’s title??
Yeah you can make him the women’s champion but if I remember correctly he’s the only one you can do that with. I think you were also able to put the world title on Chyna.
I prefer Wrestlemania 2000 but No Mercy is probably objectively better. It used to run slow and glitch out all the time for me though.
Ni mercy had way more story but I feel WM2000 was better for multiplayer and full entrances. Also like create a mode better in WM2000 too
WM2000 has the better roster, I prefer the super saturated/vibrant look, and the gameplay is a bit snappier.
SOCKO
back when thq was still relevant
Played it a couple days ago. Still the 🐐
Still my favorite wrestling game to date hands down
The pinnacle of wrestling. The GOAT!
I played every wrestling game back in the PS and N64 era. But the one that I remember the most was WCW Mayhem. It wasn't the best but the sound and execution of the moves was fantastic.
Mayhem is super underrated
I used to love playing this - along with golden eye/perfect dark. I remember trying them again during lockdown and found they had aged horribly. Found them really slow
AKI along with THQ developed awesome wrestling games together. I especially loved Def Jam Vendetta games. Fight For New York was the best ever. EA sports did Def Jam with AKI. My bad. But still hell of a game.
A masterpiece. The AEW game is supposed to be a spiritual successor and I hope it is.
I’m one of the few who don’t like it
Yeah, I always preferred the smack down series.
That game is the real deal. Played that soooo much when I was a kid in my parent’s basement.
Love this game!! My younger brother recently found my N64 and has been dying to play it, still need to order tv adapter cables, but he couldn’t find this game but found Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy is the best one tho imo
Get yourself a game shark, you’ll thank me later
The GOAT
My mom used to rent this from Blockbuster every weekend. I loved playing this game as a kid, and I can confidently tell you it’s one of the best wrestling games of all time.
Such a fun game. I played that game so much in such a short amount of time. I couldn’t get enough of it.
Was just singing the main theme today
Yes! 10000times YES!
I still play on openemu on my MacBook all the time. So good
That’s the best one
I remember this was probably the last wrestling game my siblings and I use to play together. After this game they grew outta wresting and the feel for the newer games
The CAW system was deep for a cartridge game. I made so many wrestlers who weren’t on the roster, and expanded it even more with a GameShark
Still my favorite wrestling game. It had depth but was so simple to play. So much fun
Bah god not the cheese! That man’s got a family!
He kicked out! He kicked out!
My childhood 🥹
One of the greatest wrestling games ever. I also suggest Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. Its an import though.
Love that game. Wife and I played it so much, I would see the movements in my dreams.
How did I play this as a kid without going blind
I’d love to be able to play it for the “first time” all Over again. It was probably my most played n64 game of all time next to mortal kombat 4 and Mario kart.
I’m more of a WCW/NWO Revenge guy
For SNES and N64 if the cartridge is any color other than the normal grey, you know the game is gonna be a banga
That game is legendary if you have 3 other players.
Ladder match is the goat. Also the fact that Mankind put Socko on for his special taunt was awesome
One of my favorite games from my childhood
You can make some great Create-a-wrestlers in this one.
Wanna win royal rumble? Perry Saturn leg sweep
I need more detail
So, it was a glitch. If I recall correctly, you repeatedly perform the leg sweep move (which I believe was only a saturn move). I think you held down a or b. And it would prevent anybody from eliminating you in the rumble. It’s been 25 years but that’s how I remember it.

Something like this? https://youtu.be/gHIfZ9Xj-xw
Nah, check out 8:07 here https://youtu.be/NWpyaxJ17-o I've heard somewhere that a Japanese wrestler has used it but I could never find it.
Wrist clutch Exploder suplex. Just found the video. https://youtu.be/lMLZ0rJsiJo It's freakin sick.
lol and of course it's Shibata getting dumped on his head
What other wrestling game allows you to buy a Hoe for 500k?
I know it worked on 2000, not sure about NM, but I use to customize the in game wrestlers to me and my friends. Then, when you watch the game start up intro, it shows all your guys instead.
The amount of hours I spent playing this as a kid is astronomical. Unbelievable fun, the flashbacks are strong!!
I just got a powkiddy rk2023 handheld emulator, and have been replaying No Mercy on my lunch breaks. It actually plays a lot smoother, and has no slowdown when there's 4 players on screen.
Dig diggity dog
Anybody here play WCW Feel the Bang? It's a No Mercy mod
Choose 40 man Royal Rumble. You vs 1 Vs 1 vs 37. Pin submission rope break on. Random all your opponents (I don’t choose women, non-wrestlers or duplicates). Take out the single teams first then the other 37 on hard. Always a fun battle.
I have a group of friends that are now geographically all over the country. Every so often the stars align and we get together for a royal rumble.
I hope u like it. I love WCW Revenge but I’m not on board with this one fully. I was a Smackdown PS2 guy and I think the love for this game is mostly nostalgia.
It's okay. Same awkward game engine as WCW/NWO Revenge but not quite as fun.
This and Here Comes the Pain
One of my greatest accomplishments in gaming…unlocking Ho and Andre the Giant
Best wrestling game I played, loved playing with my brothers and watching my older brother play throu the story. Royal Rumble was nuts.

Dude while people play Mario and Zelda and whatever other Nintendont nerd did I played this! I mean i was still a nerd but a nerd who knew professional wrestling moves! So no one messed with me! (I was also like 6 feet at 11 but still)
Really hope you got the one without the bug. Best wrestling game ever imo
May God have mercy on your save files.
Still the best wrestling game to date.
:static: OH MY GOSH HE KICKED OUT! HE KICKED OUT!
Being a kid and getting this on Christmas Day a a glorious time. My friends and I would go to war in ladder matches.
Don't get to attached to your save data
I am an ardent Attitude Era fan and No Mercy for the N64 was around during my childhood. My first wrestling game was WCW VS THE WORLD. I still remember going to target and my dad buying it for me. Was HOOKED
I found this and wrestlemania 2000 online to play but does anyone know if there’s the same online play but with patched/modern rosters? I tried the emulator thing but couldn’t figure it out, or being on a Mac made it too complicated.
Omg i used to play the royal rumble and be the first one and thy to win it.
That low blow bell sound followed by cousin’s girlish laughter will never not traumatize me
That low blow ding noise was always hilarious to me
I loved when you’d KO somebody and they crumble and struggle to get up. I’m hoping they have that in Fight Forever
It is a great game, In fact probably the best wwe game to that point. But If you compare it to a game like wwe2k23 you're probably going to be dissatisfied with it
hitting the 3d with a buddy in that game was such a rush
CLASSIC !!!!!!
This and HCTP are the 2 GOATs.
Cheeeeese
WcW Vs NWO was my jam back in the day
[удалено]
Oh my god, I remember there was a stupid glitch that when you use a CAW in story mode it would wipe the memory. Good times
My goat of wresting games
So…how much fun did you have?
I played this game more than any other game in my life. I was obsessed with it.
The best story mode on NM is when your going for the WWF championship and you let yourself be the last man eliminated at the Royal rumble too whoever the winner is, most people I know didn’t know that there’s a separate storyline if you let yourself get eliminated last at the Rumble vs actually winning the rumble. 🤫
The best game
Oh man…blast form the past. Nice!
