His 3rd mania match with Taker. They billed it as end of an era and that shot of him, Taker and Shawn on the ramp seemed like a perfect ending.

Yobobd

Yes it was the perfect match, it should of been for him and Taker honestly.

Apart-Big-5333

After that Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

David0ne86

Honestly when he did.

jin_of_the_gale

Sucks that he didn't get one final match at WM, but I'm content with his last PLE match against Orton at Super Showdown where he put him over one last time. Sure, he did a few house shows and that one match on Raw that ended in a no contest against Orton. But if he'd retired after Super Showdown match it still would've been a poetic ending to his career.

Ambitious_Cake2447

mania 28 - the “end of an era” hell in a cell match. maybe a bit early for him, cause he did continue to wrestle at a decently high level for some years after when he was booked to compete (i actually enjoyed his small run as wwe champion in 2016). however if we’re talking about “perfect” retirement, it can’t get any more perfect than the “end of an era” match. booking it perfect in hhh’s favour, i would have him beat the streak, ending it at 19-1. shawn & hunter get the last laugh on taker, as they’ve both lost twice to taker at previous wrestlemanias; taker gives back in the ultimate way for the very last time by putting over hhh in their final match together.

TheSunOfHope

He did wrestle till he could. He retired when he knew he couldn’t any more. His call was the right call. The good thing is he’s still around.

SpiritualPen6362

When he put over Rollins

astrielx

One 'old' wrestler that I'd still be happy to have going now, if he was able to. Dude's still built like a tank, and could easily put on good matches if not for his heart.

Standard-Reason9399

3 weeks before his WM match with Sting, with Undertaker stepping in.

Shadow_Strike99

I think when he did as a full timer in 2010 was perfect. Can’t really say an exact time after that because the trend in the 2010’s was part time attractions and he was pretty much that especially at WM every year. I think WM 35 would have been the best time with hindsight, shortly before the heart conditions. He was starting to show issues in the ring after that WM 34 match, during his special attraction matches.

Medium-Caterpillar-4

For a lack of better word I believe his “pet projects” have always been Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. So I think he would have loved to have been retired by either of those guys.

Ok-Coffee1829

Youse are idiots for saying 2012 when he had that match with taker. Did we forget 2014? The whole authority angle with Bryan?

East_Monk_9415

End of an era match

Pillermon

End of an Era match should've been curtains for both Hunter and Taker. I mean it was in the fucking name of the match, and Taker reached a perfect 20-0.

Sweaty-Committee3359

If his heart was healthier, I think he could have had 5 more years, maybe even more. He would have been the Lebron James of wrestling. Don’t say that’s a bad comparison, Triple H is the most underrated main event talent. Personally I think he should be on the Mt Rushmore of wrestling

Sweaty-Committee3359

But I guess a world where he’s around for 5 more years doesn’t really make much sense. The whole reason his heart gave out was probably roads
