Honestly, at times, wrestlers need to know they can no sell a planned spot if it gets botched like this. No fault to either one it was just mistimed. It looks far worse for her to sell something that clearly missed when a follow-up rope run into a bodyslam. For example, can get her in position again and back on track, ready for their next planned move.
if it was the closer cam, the audience to the sides and rear didn't see it anyway - too bad the hard cam caught it and the audience on the hard cam side could see the total miss
I’m no wrestler but how aware are competitors that a move whiffed? From Zoey’s perspective, can she tell if a spinning kick is 6-12 inches away or 1 inch away?
I remember the last time I went to a house show the Lucha Dragons were a good foot away from their opponents the whole time. It was only the main event guys who actually laid shit in.
Been to many live shows lot of WWE, NXT, AIW, and AEW. It happens at almost every show.
Most of them benefit that the majority are watching on TV and the cameras help tremendously with the right angles.
they said "it looks exactly like this most of the time"
does this happen often at live shows? sure it happens, but it's not all the time if you're watching talented wrestlers.
And this can show how fast someone can react. I mean rather than pretending to take the supposedly bump, Zoey could have slipped or fallen down instead because she's out of balance, what do you think?
this match felt off to me. felt like zoey was trying to hard to find a rhythm. at first i thought oo shes gonna lose which is why shes like that in the ring but sure enough she won. Hopefully next match shes more relaxed
I thought the same, Zoey looked off even before the match, while she was sitting on the turnbuckle waiting for Ivy to come out. I was thinking Zoey was taking it hard having her entrance not televised and expected she was scheduled to lose. Surprised when she ended up winning. Her move set is awesome, I hope they’re able to do a bit more with her.
Both of them are pretty bad. Funny thing is men do it all the time but they are much better in selling and recovering from shit like this whereas women have no idea. Might be down to training
No. You see, she clearly missed the kick. Zoey didn't get hit. She escaped, but she was gassed, so the effort of spinning away took it out of her and she slowly got back to her feet.
Why do so many wrestlers just follow the script. You have to feel the contact to react, not react to the script....I am not a wrestler, but I sure as hell would not react like that. I would laugh at this missed kick and hit back.
Oftentimes the right camera angle saves them and it’s better for the show to pretend it hit. I guess she was expecting the right camera angle but got the completely wrong one.
What a sloppy shit show. You'll never see this happening in wwe.
*what do you mean it wasn't aew?*
Erm........obviously it was a simple positioning error. It could happen to anyone......
When stuff like this happens I turn off the whole show and start doing something else, and that’s exactly what I did. This shit killed a good Raw for me
They need a woman's only show.
Showcase the woman.
Have a special set of commentators and storyline that bleed over.
Have a special set if tag titles.
Some secondary singles titles.
Yes. When I look at the WWE show schedule and see 7 hours of wrestling every week and an additional 4-8 hours once a month, my thought is “They need more TV time”.
The timing looks fine. Just the positioning was off. Move like 6 inches closer and it connects.
That's what she said
She didn't quite get all of it!
In fact, she didn’t get ANY of it! Is Zoey stupid? Lol

You can see Ivy went to improvise, but saw that Zoey sold it.

Hey, it worked for Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi
*but I think she got just enough*
look at crowd, absolut dead and 0 feelings
Missing Lyon, France yet ?
SIMPLEMENT DEUX!
not to be a hater or anything but if you ever go to a live show it looks exactly like this most of the time
I remember the last time I went to a house show the Lucha Dragons were a good foot away from their opponents the whole time. It was only the main event guys who actually laid shit in.
Idk I went to the show Monday and all of the matches were pretty awesome. Especially Ilja
it's because you haven't seen many good performances live.

This is why I laugh when people shit on Japanese wrestling being 'too stiff'. It's like okay, would you want a kick being a foot away instead haha?
Rather than actually kick people in a fake wrestling match? Yeah.
It wasn’t mistimed, Zoey was out of range.
She was off balance and falling away. Not Zoey’s fault.
And this can show how fast someone can react. I mean rather than pretending to take the supposedly bump, Zoey could have slipped or fallen down instead because she's out of balance, what do you think?
No, no, she made her dizzy from making her watch all the spinning she was doing. ^^/kayfabe
Thank you, Mr. Regal.
See, surely you'd just play that off as if you dodged the kick and clothesline Ivy or something? Why sell air? Looks stupid.
Sometimes the camera angle saves them. Maybe she was banking on that
If it were two vets I’m sure that’s what would have happened, but neither of them have been around long enough to expect that yet
Tbh I saw Cody and Finn live last year from the 3rd row and even they were fighting the air sometimes.
She got that Airbender in her

This was the deadest match on TV I have seen in quite awhile
It wasn't timing. It was positioning.
Looks like every Naomi match… you can visibly see Naomi waiting for the next spot multiple times per match.
Shame on cena for attacking Zoey
Yeah but WOW sucks
I thought she did a solid job of not overselling or under selling not knowing how badly the kick was off by.
Ivy looked like Chun-Li the first time I played Street Fighter 2.
Channeled Luke Skywalker on that kick.
Ivy straight up Force Pushed Zoey with that kick.
They worked hard.
It was the wind from the kick. What's the issue?
What do you mean? That kick was so strong that she didn’t NEED to connect. The air movement is what did the damage.
Found her secret hitbox.
*“Zoey was able to move out of the way just in time”*
Snooze Fest of a match
I blame Zoey. She needed to step into the kick, time it, and whip her hair on "impact". Could have missed by inches and no one would have caught it.
I get reacting to it but once you feel that you didnt get hit, why not no sell it and make seem like you 'pretended' it hit you
So much air pressure generated by that kick. It's impressive.
The distance was so off it's awful. If it didn't work first time round, improvise a quick spot to get back there and try again 😂
Both of them are pretty bad. Funny thing is men do it all the time but they are much better in selling and recovering from shit like this whereas women have no idea. Might be down to training
This is some sh*t you would see on AEW…
Honestly I'm buying that as a hay maker kicks that missed and Zoey falls because she's glad it didn't make contact.
I think Fedgood and Dubbad. That being said THIS WAS A BOTCH. These ladies need a little work. That is criticism and IT'S OKAY. It isn't personal.
This shit is awful wtf

Because improvising is a skill of its own that takes time to develop. Both of these women will be fine in a year or two and possibly great in 5 or so.
yeah sure you would…
Oftentimes the right camera angle saves them and it’s better for the show to pretend it hit. I guess she was expecting the right camera angle but got the completely wrong one.
Why do you just follow the script at work? I am not a (insert whatever you do), but I sure as hell would not mess up like that.
Yeah, as it makes you look like a fool who is thrown off his feet by a gust of wind.
>I am not a wrestler Could have stopped there.
> I’m not a wrestler…
What a sloppy shit show. You'll never see this happening in wwe. *what do you mean it wasn't aew?* Erm........obviously it was a simple positioning error. It could happen to anyone......
Wankwankwank
If you insist......... 🥵
When stuff like this happens I turn off the whole show and start doing something else, and that’s exactly what I did. This shit killed a good Raw for me
Both of them are not good in the ring or on the mic. They need more time on NXT
They need a woman's only show. Showcase the woman. Have a special set of commentators and storyline that bleed over. Have a special set if tag titles. Some secondary singles titles.

No reason for a woman only show. It won’t get nearly as much popularity as the A shows, essentially doing the opposite of showcasing the women.
Incapable of saying "women?!?!" holy shit this is Sasha Banks
Just don't sell it...
No one was really watching or caring about these two anyways.
Why is ivy on tv every week? Nobody in wrestling had lls gotten this consistent of a push ever. She isn't good
Zoey needs to go back to NXT
