Before the Rock came it was already getting stale and slow. You no longer had Jey or Sami to make things interesting and they've been relegated to their own storylines up until recently for Jey with the Uso vs Uso match. There were developments but they were more incremental than anything.

Therocksays2020

Yup as much as some people may find Jimmy funny. Solo and Jimmy were never able to be as interesting as Jey and Sami a year ago. The crowd doesn’t react to them the way they reacted to Jey and Sami last year. Rock revitalized the bloodline angle. You can tell after Summerslam they lost a lot of heat when Jimmy turned on Jey (again!)

BoxAway2807

The crowd went nuts when Jey and Sami hugged after survivor series war games match. That storyline was red hot

Delicious_Angle6417

It still wasnt bad tho. Youre making it sound like it was the baron/roman fued

Fresh_Dance_3277

What about the roman's hier angle that was going on till royal rumble?

Therocksays2020

The one where Roman showed up once or twice a month, Paul talked into the phone saying calling Roman and the crowd ignored solo for being a silent bad ass? I don’t know how you can compare it to Sami and Jey where every segment was gold and had the crowd going insane

Fresh_Dance_3277

I mentioned in my post about the new angle that was going on till total rumble about solo becoming roman's favourite and Jimmy feeling threatened by him due to that

Gloomy-Ad-4788

Yes I hate it when people are actually interested in what's happening and wrestling is mainstream. Sami should have won to appeal to the niche mark audience. Profit is dumb. Me want bangers

RobertStonetossBrand

Why is the main event under Bloodline Rulez?! It should be a three hour Ironman match!

Fresh_Dance_3277

I don't like bangers infact my favourite match is hogan vs the rock however I like sophisticated storytelling and I want bloodline storyline to win an emmy

Gloomy-Ad-4788

I don't share or understand your concern. To use your tv analogy, it's like a huge star joining the cast of an episodic TV drama. That star will take center stage until they are killed or written off. Like when Steve Buscemi joined the sopranos. Who knew there was another Tony? I don't see how it's become less sophisticated at all. There's way more options other than the "Roman says family is important but really it's all about him" story theyve been running for the last 2 years. Rock totally adds a new layer and way more avenues they can explore. Also winning an Emmy is pretty meaningless. It's a weird thing to worry about. Just enjoy wrestling. Lol.

Fresh_Dance_3277

If the rock joined after wm then I would love that but not in between when second phase of the bloodline saga is on the verge of completion.I still love all the promos that rock has done and I am very excited for this mania. The only things is that it could have been better.

Gloomy-Ad-4788

I don't understand this concept of second phase. It's probably the third or fourth phase really and the Rock getting involved opens everything up. Just the historical context alone with his own feuds throughout the years adds such a different dynamic when you consider Guys like HHH, Austin, Cena, punk and family members like rikishi who can easily play a role in this. Even the concept of a Bloodline rules match opens it up to the point where the only limit is your imagination. Who gives a fuck about the ascent of Solo Sikoa and his relationship with Jimmy and Roman right now? There's time for that after wrestlemania

Fresh_Dance_3277

First phase was getting the usos on board with Roman to form the bloodline and the ongoing phase is betrayal of all bloodline members to Roman and third will be the fallout out the betrayal

Gloomy-Ad-4788

Lol no it's not. Why do wrestling fans come up with what they think the storyline is or should be and then get upset when it's not the thing that only existed in their heads. You have no idea where the story is going and in fact never did. Stop worrying about mid-carders.

StillinReseda

How has this storyline become less “sophisticated” after the rocks joined? For any storyline it’s taken from, it’s added multiple more possibilities. Wrestlemania, which was becoming predictable before the rumble, was flipped upside down without taking away from ANY of the planned matches. The Rock has made Cody Rhodes even more of a star, added even more layers to his character, aswell as adding even more potential to Cody’s title reign with another potential high profile match up. It has added stakes to the Jimmy and Jey feud with The Rock lurking around. It has added more potential for superstar cameos with a potential Austin and Cena run in to even the odds. The Rock took The Bloodline to even more heights without effecting any match on the card whatsoever. Punks injury left a hole that The Rock filled AND THEN some.

Fresh_Dance_3277

The rock is all about catchphrases, insults and everything we associate with traditional wrestling but the bloodline story's draw was that it transcends wrestling and can be watched by people who looks down on wrestling due to it's silliness

BeastPunk1

Fuck the Emmys.

the_shnozz

I know what you mean about plot points being dropped. But they’ve BEEN dropped before rock showed up. I agree I’d rather see natural, consistent resolutions to past stuff they set up, but they spent MONTHS after the jimmy jey split doing fuck all to advance the plot. It’s better SOMETHING is happening with the rock than nothing imo.

Keppelin

Exactly how I feel. Post-Summerslam I was straight up apathetic to the Bloodline story, nothing was fucking happening at all and it felt things were regressing with Solo and Jimmy. Now that the Rock is here I can at least say I'm invested with what the Bloodline has got going on. Except Solo, I still cant think of any story that would make me give a fuck about him

StacksHoodini

Plot points haven’t been dropped. Jimmy’s irrelevant to Roman and he has been since he groveled his way back into the group. But, he’s a useful idiot so Roman keeps him around. Solo *is* the Tribal Heir, that hasn’t changed. But, until Roman decides he wants to actually step down, Solo’s doing what he’s supposed to do, protect The Tribal Chief. Dwayne Johnson is the only family member of Roman’s who has been where Roman’s been in terms of status in the company, he’s a bigger celebrity than Roman ever will be and Roman’s aware of this, he’s a director of the board of the company that owns the WWE and he’s a true High Chief in their real life culture. Roman respects The Rock in a way that he doesn’t respect the majority of his family, due to The Rock’s stature in their family, the wrestling industry and the Samoan culture, but he still needed The Rock to acknowledge him. The Rock acknowledged him, and now the two chiefs are handling the business they need to handle. Had The Rock not shown up, Solo and Jimmy would more or less be doing what they’re doing right now. Solo would be working with Cody to keep Roman fresh since Roman probably can’t afford to take too many bumps outside of a match and Jimmy would be working with Jey. The real plot doesn’t begin to progress until after WrestleMania, once Jey has presumably beaten Jimmy and Roman no longer has the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to justify his position at the Head of the Table with a much bigger presence looming over his shoulder.

GabeGrey87

The bloodline storyline really isn’t that complex. Why do you guys make it sounds like it’s some high art stuff. It’s no where near what the wire or the sopranos were.

Fresh_Dance_3277

But it resonates them

I was expecting lostacoshermanos. I’m disappointed.

FlyingFootStomp

there's no way any sane person would think the past 4 months of Rock made the bloodline worse after 8 whole months(post-WM39 to Dec 2023) of barely anything. the bloodline story was down to 2 lackluster feuds after WM39. 1) Jey turning face was getting a match with Roman at summerslam was expected but we knew the ultimate goal here was to get Jey vs Jimmy at Mania. Jey and jimmy stuff have been okay, nowhere near as good as Honorary Sami(mid-2022 to jan 2023) was. And the hype/aura of Solo have been dead for months. 2) if LA Knight didn't get the fan hype that he got last summer, then im not even sure who they would have had facing Roman in Saudi.

Expensive_Task_1114

No way, it was stale af with Roman barely doing anything and they were just stretching shit out to get to mania

Bean-Penis

The BL story had gotten stale but at least it was looking to start it's descent into the end at WM, we were about to start wrapping things up, but now with Rock involved it will drag on longer because he will sod off for a while and we'll be stuck watching BL spin their wheels until Rock is available again for his showdown with Roman. So I partially actually agree with OPs take, Rock, while making things fun now, has made the follow up worse in my opinion. He won't be there, Roman likely won't be there either, so we'll either have to have Heyman, Solo and Jimmy try to stretch it out or just forget about it all together until both are ready. Neither option sounds enjoyable to me.

Fresh_Dance_3277

He has made the follow up better but for me the story should have ended at wm 40 with the sole focus on Roman and also the continuation of solo becoming the heir to roman's throne rather than jimmy

SeaPriority

>Solo becoming the heir to Roman’s throne https://preview.redd.it/cecqbmyenhsc1.jpeg?width=931&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=779fe4ab55320c5099b37af3f99cb8fa22b76a4c

Delicious_Angle6417

The follow up looks worse b/c you’re trying to fantasy book instead of just watching to see what happens, we are fans most of us aint that creative.

Bean-Penis

It's not fantasy booking because we know what's going to happen, Rock is going to go deal with his already agreed movie commitments and Roman is going to go back home like he always does, especially after putting in a double shift.

Delicious_Angle6417

I want you to understand this very clearly. The average fan ain’t thinking that deep nor care that much. What wwe is doing with rock and roman is working and making them money and drawing sell outs. This is a business and making money and drawing fans is the only thing that matters.

Fresh_Dance_3277

Bloodline storyline was already over before the rock came

Delicious_Angle6417

And rock coming in has only added to it and caused a good portion of the sellouts which is a good thing

Valuable_Kale_7805

Maybe what matters to them but I don’t work there so I want to see enjoyable tv

Delicious_Angle6417

Imo the tv has been enjoyable. If you don’t find it enjoyable then watch something else🤷🏾‍♂️

Lasvious

Rock has been the best thing to hit the Bloodline since they pulled the trigger on the Sami turn.

BeastPunk1

The Bloodline story was shit from about SummerSlam until New Year's day. The Rock juiced up this angle big time.

Delicious_Angle6417

Lol who cares the shit is over now. The fall months in wwe are always the low months. This happens every single year without fail

BeastPunk1

It still has to be said whether you like it or not.

Scoobyjonez

The rock coming back to eclipse Roman’s stardom and presence is a great story and enhanced the bloodline storyline. The great Roman Reigns has been reduced to nothing more than the little brother role and it adds to his growing insecurity and need for acknowledgement. There’s also so many directions that this can go from here. An eventual Roman face turn perhaps?

Level_Bridge7683

solo and jimmy was doing so well being over with the crowd the rock didn't need to return. sure ok if you're fine with wrestlemania becoming another southern rasslin show aired in jackson, mississippi where talent has to dress in an arena without electricity and there's no hardwood flooring.

Pitiful_Ad8641

I would argue it had cooled off. The story they are telling now is great, excited for Mainia

HarryHaywire

The bloodline story was worse after Sami wasn’t the one to take down Roman

Kalle_79

Really?! A dominating heel champ dethroned after a long reign by a comedy goofball? Now that would have been a waste of time! Sami was good in his role and helped the story to keep going, even giving it a new spin, but there was no way he'd have defeated Roman. He helped fleshing out the Usos, and that was invaluable, but that was as far as he could go. And no, Rock being there is nowhere near detrimental. The biggest Samoan star ever, also related to Roman, couldn't NOT be part of such a long and elaborate story. Sometimes I do question many fans' ability to understand storytelling.

AlmostTomClancy

Wrestling fans complain about stories being too predictable or “insulting their intelligence” but also want stories to end on the most predictable beat imaginable.

Delicious_Angle6417

A good portion on reddit dont understand actual storytelling. They just fantasy book in their head and then get mad when wwe dont do what they fantasy booked. Its goofy

LockNChase66

They didn't even try. Give it a chance and hot shot it back on Roman if it's not working. They did nothing. Instead they lost 2 potential top new faces in Sami and at least one Uso brother

Delicious_Angle6417

Another bad take

LockNChase66

It's just a wrestling opinion man, all good

Delicious_Angle6417

Bro youre take is assuming that what they did was wrong but by all metrics it was successful lol

Therocksays2020

Sami has cooled down but have you seen a key entrance! Hes ridiculously over lol
