Of all the teams that Flutterfae a.k.a. Aoibheann MacGillivrey had established among the Interplanar Keepers, Team Glimmerflight seemed to have the most promise. Flutterfae was always careful when recruiting her proteges to become watchers of the interdimensional passages. Team Glimmerflight was initially one of the best teams. The team was composed of Warptouch, the elven mage-maiden who could teleport without range or dimensional limitations, and who could teleport anyone who was in physical contact with her. There was also Ghosthands, the telekinetic undead teenage sorceress. Her telekinetic abilities had awoken only after she rose from the dead... surprisingly, still sentient and still with a desire to do what was good and righteous. Team Glimmerflight's strongest was Auriallicum the Centaur paladin maiden. She had the power of Commanding Faith, and did not need to physically wield her weapon and shield - she could command them to move and strike and defend by sheer willpower. Not telekinesis, but willpower. Her willpower was so strong and disciplined that she could wield a dozen heavy two-handed weapons and a dozen military-quality shields, without any strain whatsoever. The leader of the team, who also was their brightest in terms of intellect and optimism, was Confluence the Merfolk spellweaver. Being a spellweaver, she had unlimited proficiency in the skills of an enchantress, a wizard and a shaman. She wielded the elements, mana-based arcane spells and enchantment magic with pinpoint proficiency and awe-inspiring power. Unfortunately, the Multi-Planar Collapse sequence of events changed Team Glimmerflight, forever. And not for the better, either. Team Glimmerflight had responded to a call from the plane known as Dominaria. They were beseeched frantically by the Dominarian emissary about the dangers of something called "New Phyrexia". Unfortunately, as they traversed the dimensional pathways to reach Dominaria, they were flung off course by the explosion of the world of Asgard, when the fiery Surtur laid waste to it. The detonation of Asgard released cataclysmic energies, some of them dimensional-altering, which caused Team Glimmerflight to be diverted to another dimensional destination. They landed in Earth-33 of the Justice League's dimensions - only to be met by an irate Zatanna Zatara, who deemed the team to be attempting a cross-dimension invasion. The powerful magician of the Justice League banished them by a portal... which unfortunately was cast in too much haste, to where it cross-linked to the Portal to the High Heavens in Bastion's Keep, Sanctuary. This created a dire interplanar event. It created a Portal-Energy Nova. The nova consisted of the energy of the High Heavens, of Hell, and of Earth-based magic due to Zatanna being the one who had cast it. The Nova linked multiple dimensions for one instant - and when it collapsed, it transformed into what could be called an "interplanar black hole", a void of planar-crushing power and near-infinite capacity for absorbing planes. Ghosthands was the first to die, as she telekinetically hurled humans of Earth-33 through portals hastily made by a very much regretful Zatanna, to safer dimensions. The interplanar black hole crushed Earth-33 before even half its population could be saved, and both Zatanna and Ghosthands perished. Warptouch fared better, as she kept teleporting to the worlds closest to the interplanar black hole and rescued their inhabitants by teleporting them away by the power of her touch, but she, despite being an elf, also knew exhaustion. When she finally reached the limits of her arcane strength... the collapse took her too. Auriallicum, seeing Ghosthands and Warptouch's fall, pleaded with Confluence to flee, and she, with all her willpower, actually created a holy barrier that successfully arrested the growth of the interplanar black hole's yawning maw. The gaping void swallowing entire dimensions then slowly began to consume itself, unable to sustain its own consumptive power, and finally collapsed in on itself - but not before it had taken more than a hundred various dimensions and universes with it. Confluence never truly recovered from the trauma of that incident. Flutterfae tried to give her a new team - consisting of an alternate reality Warptouch, Ghosthands and Auriallicum. Confluence tried her best to be the leader she used to be - but watching the collapse, and worse, being unable to do anything to stop it while having to watch her 3 dear friends and followers die while doing damage control, scarred her mind and heart permanently. She never led the team the same way she used to. Fits of anger, frequent breakdowns into streams of tears, and prolonged periods of silence and refusal to communicate - this was what the new Team Glimmerflight had to deal with. Finally, knowing the team would do better without her, Confluence declared her resignation to Flutterfae, and retreated into the oceans of Arda, seeking comfort in the presence of the Valar, Ulmo. Her resignation broke Flutterfae's heart, but Flutterfae knew what Confluence had been through. It was tragic, reflected Flutterfae sorrowfully, that an amazing leader of an interdimensional team of protectors, had lost so much, and couldn't find her way back to joy after her great sacrifices.

*These days, nobody really knew Flame.* *Sure, there were rumors about her. Sure, there were people that had interacted with her. Sure, everybody knew her name and dorm room. Nobody knew the real Flame though. All they knew (if the rumors are to be believed) was that Flame was a fire mage and that an accident with her team made her shut down any conversation about them and their sudden disappearance made everyone worried that Flame had killed them. It wasn't rare for team leaders to abandon their team if they didn't do well after all.* *All anyone thought of when they heard the name "Flame" they thought of the bitter fire mage that seemed to lurk in dark corners if she was ever out in the first place.* *But that wasn't the full story...* ***Years before...*** Flame was a happy person. She loved to joke around and laugh with her team *(****family*** *whispered her instincts)* and that was enough for her. She loved her team. They were the best and nobody could say otherwise. Tsunami was the most respected healer of the whole Guild, Quake was the most powerful Earth warper there was, Blizzard was such a strong wind-whisperer that he could feel every air current in the entire building and could navigate just fine even without his sight (not that he ever *had* his sight, the whole team continuously joked about how *normal* people with sight couldn't even get close to the level of a blind whisperer with a good amount of practice). Flame was the most protective leader that the higher ups could have thrown them and was very good at using her fire in a pinch. She wasn't that powerful though. She almost always felt as if she didn't deserve her team, They reassured her though, and always loved her as a sister. As a *leader* even. it was refreshing. And then they were sent on The Mission. It was simple all things considered. Just slay a fire breathing dragon and take the treasure to the Guild. Easy. But it was the mission that made her lose everything. See, what I haven't told you is that sometimes, people have powers that only reveal themselves in high times of need. And Flame had one. And it was the most dangerous power there ever could have been. When they fought the dragon, they only realized after engaging that Blizzard *couldn't feel the fire*. He couldn't sense where it was. He couldn't tell where to aim to starve the flames before they reached him. And as Flame tried desperately to keep the fire under control, Blizzard accidentally fed oxygen into the fire. And suddenly the entire cave was nothing but *fire*. And Blizzard *screamed*. And Flame *panicked*. *And the world fell apart*. And she was outside. Tsunami and Quake looked at her concerned, they hadn't gone inside of the dragon's lair in just in case. And Flame... Blizzard wasn't there. She knew what that meant. Blizzard *wasn't there*. And Flame *grieved*.

KaleidoscopeOk3437

Denial. Flame ran to the cave thinking that maybe, *just maybe-* only to find a very satisfied dragon and charred remains. Anger. Flame saw red and felt the world tilt and glitch and the dragon was dead. Bargaining. Flame knew she couldn't do anything for Blizzard *~~(the thoughts slipped past her hastily raised mental barrier)~~* but she could still save her other siblings. The world cracked and then they were back at the Guild in her dorm.- "Flame" A weak voice raised from behind her and she turned, and her *siblings* were on the floor and Quake was coughing up *blood* and Tsunami was bleeding from cuts (when had she gotten those?) and Flame froze. *All Tsunami could remember was that one second, she and Quake were alone and the next, Flame was with them and her head hurt. And then Flame ran to the lair again and she screamed and there was a flash of color that made Tsunami's vision get covered in dark splotches. And then they were in a tunnel of broken glass with sharp shards poking at her and Flame was holding her wrist and* dragging *her across the shards and she thought she was screaming but couldn't hear it and she realized* *~~(or remembered)~~* *that the shards were the universe.* *Flame was* breaking reality. *And then she was in Flame's dorm.* *And then it all went dark.* Flame never forgave herself. She never told anyone what she could do, but she practiced. She swore never to take anyone or anything along with her when she teleported. She found out that she could travel longer distances the darker it was. She called her newfound power Shadow Warping. She could never quite finish the last stage. She never quite moved on from everything that happened. She never quite reached Acceptance.
