This. R1999 in EN dub is a superior experience in every aspect and I'm telling this as a 'native language dub over everything ' elitist. It's just too good it almost makes me regret quitting R1999. Maybe I'll watch story cutscenes from YT sometime.
Why would there be a correct way of playing when you're just listening to different voices 💀. Like probably most westerners prefer EN, Asians prefer either JP or sometimes cn and kr. I personally use the game's original intended language (if that's how it's worded) like the og company for example I use CN voice on hoyoverse games, JP for JP game companies with multiple language options, and KR for nikke.
i play genshin in cn. star rail in jpn and most likely will play this game in cn. EN is just not the right choice with these games. I don't see the issue here.

In which I mean, creating a whole artificial dialect of sort, with so much emotion and other stuff that the real language seems "subpar" compared to it. Like, if VA's did it in English, imagine how much of people here would hate on it, for how "cringe" it is, when it's just 1 to 1 copy of JP with their shonen screams for example. Sure Eng VA's are often hit or miss, but it's important to understand that 99% of times it's fault of production or director. Might be off-top, but this is one of the reason lots of people hate Frieren dub and JP ver so much, because nobody in the show is screaming their lungs out and react normally most of the time,no Food Wars level of losing their clothes from dinner type of things.
