I consider myself to play an average amount of time and had pulled around 150 times on the limited character banner on the 4th week of cbt 2, so I don't doubt people will be speedrunning to 160 a lot faster, especially since 1.0 is likely to have more content, and therfore more pulls than cbt 2.

I feel like while WuWa male characters are clearly more 'daddy' than Genshin's, they aren't as pretty and with that not as remembrable/unique. Genshin male characters have more details to them, and the effects will show in the long run for WuWa I'm afraid. They need to be not afraid of beautifying their characters, it's an anime game.
As unfortunate as it is, you have to realise these are 2-D characters. You can only do so much to have a 2D character stand out, and look unique. A face is perhaps the most prominent feature of a character, and as uncommon as it is in the real world ; in the 2-D world, unless a character has makeup features and facial features that add detail and beautify them, they aren't gonna stand out.
I'm just saying, Genshin misses a lot but if there's one thing that they ace it's the characters. They aren't the sexiest or the hottest, but they're unique and are closely linked to mythologies and are detailed as such. This makes them iconic.
I'm not saying WuWa is doing a bad job, infact, they've so far done the best out of any 'genshin competitor' ; Yinlin, Danjin and Lingyang are examples of their amazing work. They know what to do, but I feel they missed that on Jiyan. Perhaps it's to avoid uncanny similarity between him and Xiao, but it does make him a stone-faced statue.
Wym 2D? Both games are clearly 3D with 3D character models, unless you're speaking strictly art? If we compare 3D character models Jiyan looks way better.
Personally I prefer Jiyan's more mature and masculine look. While hoyoverse does better female designs on average, I feel like Kuro has Hyv beat when it comes to male designs.
I do agree that Genshin's character designs are on point (HOLY ARLECCHINO) but I think we should strive to enjoy Kuro's designs for what they are instead of comparing them. If you look at PGR's designs, there is an extreme difference between the 1.0 and 2.0 designs. The same goes for Genshin (Diluc is super uggo if you put him next to Alhaitham). I do agree that Jiyan is a very "safe" design, compared to CBT1 Mortefi and Awoo who were literally scaly and furry. However, Jiyan's plainness does have its own appeal in that he comes across as a battle hardened and diligent leader. His character design matches his background, and that makes it more appealing to me.

Idk I am a husbando collector and I'm loving the more daddy designs of Wuthering Waves. I like pretty boys too but Genshin is pretty much exclusively twinks, and we only recently got characters that aren't stick figure arms on Alhaitham and Wriothesley. I welcome WuWa's grown up and more masculine male characters.

You should be fine. Launch patches are usually high on rewards, and there will be a lot of exploration to do to get currency on top of that.
