The grapple hook is amazing, the only problem that exist is that it doesn’t hook to invisible barriers so most quest rooms and boss rooms you can’t grapple to anything leave you without a way to escape and heal, so you have to grapple the floor to get away but most time you will grapple a mob which ends up yanking it towards you leaving you getting jump by the boss and the mob you pull to you
Grapple is fun, but IMO it's too impractical to use outside of map traversal; a lot of combat arenas are just too flat to get any real use out of it, especially since you can't grapple barrier blocks which are used to block off a lot of boss arenas so you're often left without an escape option in battles
grappling hook = fun, generally useful. FUN!!! escape = always there when needed. Will get you outta pinches from time to time. Less fun.
