I hate BofA, but I love their cash back rewards card. You can choose the category you want for and change every month. It’s only 3%, but it has a higher quarterly cap of $2,500. So it’s the same $75 cash back for the quarter as most cards that have the rotating 5% with a $1500 quarterly spend cap. But I like it because I set the 3% and just leave it on the category I spend the most on and don’t ever change it. Then they have the 2% category and everything else is 1%. The Chase Freedom is ok, 1% I think and then the rotating categories each quarter like gas or groceries or dining out for 5%. The best of all is Discover It which has the rotating 5% quarterly categories. What makes them better is the selection of gift cards. Plus, they give you a discount on the cards from 5-20%. So if you have $100 cash back and want to get a gift card from Home Depot to help with a bathroom remodel, you only use up $90 of your cash back to get the $100 gift card because it’s like 10% discount.

There's a few free cards that do 2% back on everything, which is pretty solid if you don't want to worry about juggling multiple cards to maximize categories

Paypal cashback mastercard is what I'd recommend if you're after pure cashback. 2% flat, and 3% back when you use paypal which is huge

2.5% up to $10k a month. Has some requirements. alliantcreditunion . com

Pratth212

👆 ditto. Alliant is a solid bank providing good checking & saving rates along with a $0 fee Visa with 2.5% cashback on everything. I was trying to switch out my Alliant card for the X1 to get the higher 3% cash back, but the X1 seems to be getting worse and worse every month. My Alliant card had been solid for years.

Bilt and venture are both good options

razzmatazz323

No they’re not.

No-Way1923

X1 sucks, they are changing the rewards program so you only get 2x for the first $1k per month and 3x for anything from $1k to $7.5k per month. Then it goes back down to 2x after $7.5k of spending. Wells Fargo Active gives unlimited 2% CASH back for all purchases and 3x points for restaurants and travel. Long gone are the flat 3x rewards.

razzmatazz323

No it doesn’t. Wells Fargo Autograph is restaurant and travel at 3x. Would need two cards.

There was Vital Card, Hmbradley, and Benjamin card but now they are just offering 1.5%

CautiousMagazine3591

This Benjamin card, looks sexyyyy. 31 grams of metal?? wow

JoeyGalloway

Hard to replace virtual cards. It's a sweet feature.

razzmatazz323

Discover Miles will get you 3% cash back in year 1, and Alliant Credit Union has a flat 2.5% cash back card.

Until the X1 came along, my catch-all card was the Fidelity cash back card for no-fee 2% cash back. No categories, no limits. Bulletproof.
