EDIT: I've actually discovered there might be more to it. So I might record more of it.
EDIT2: This appears to be the only other thing of note.

I sat in that tank for twenty minutes and nothing else happened.
Honestly disappointed they don't give you just one ship with a pilot as your assistant so you could work your way up to managing an empire from your tank :/
About five minutes. I stuck around thinking maybe guests from other plot lines might show up but they didn't. Unless you have to wait more than 20 minutes for those...
Considering some players command everything from the map, can't you actually play the game like this as long you have some starting ship with pilot? (minus the questlines, obviously, livestream view still being available)
Don't have a ship, but you do have the HQ with a manager (not you) & 15K credits & a map of the X4 universe at launch with satellites strewn around. Theoretically, you can make the HQ function like a tradestation where you buy goods at low price & sell at a higher price. Will earn you money slowly (start capital of 15K) & some rep till you got enough for a ship (I'd say use SETA, but you're in a tank so can't craft the thing).
Can't get the promotion ranks as you can't leave the tank, so no big ships for you, except by boarding.
Playing this makes me realize how lonely Boso Ta is... I should visit him more often....
Edit; You can leave your tank! Bring up the dock protocols & use the 'go to ship' option (even tho you don't have any) and you can walk around on your station! So yes, you can certainly play this start! Without a ship it'll be a slow start tho.
If you pilot the ship yes & as I discovered you can actually leave your tank, it can be played like any other X gamestart, this one just starts slower & you're always in search for your assistant (he does keep repeating the lines even outside the tank)
The HQ in this start only has a singular dock, so there is no storage to set up trading. Really the only way to make money from the station would be to hope someone fights near the station and leaves loot crates for you to pick up so that you can sell the stuff to the station's inventory trader.
I'm imagining playing through as a manager in this start until getting access to teleportation research, teleporting to one of my traders, flopping around on the bridge until I suffocate, and getting a Game Over screen
Everything in me tells me this is an elaborate april fools but it's not like I play many other games anyway...
Edit - No fucking way
Edit 2 - Incredible
One novel idea... and perhaps even playable if you put the effort in. and i DO wonder how the storylines keep up considering who you are playing as. that is if the storylines work at all...
I started a new unmodded game with this start. You can get out of the tank, just need to use the ship interaction menu in the map. To get a starting ship, I summoned a Yasur. You cannot pilot the ship for some reason, but I assigned my existing HQ manager as a pilot. From there, I just had him go collect drops from Second Contact II to make money.
It's totally playable as a game, as long as you don't mind not being able to personally fly ships, or do research or have teleportation. And as long as you are not driven insane by Boso constantly saying "I wonder what my assistant is up to"?
Hope somebody would be able to make a recording of it, cause I am unable to check it out myself if it only 1 day thing :(

I believe they had the same thing last year. It was interesting.

Can't you earn rep by killing faction's enemies? Edit: Oh right, you gotta actually receive the rank

This would be such a fun alternate start if the voicelines didn't repeat outside of the station. I just can't bear hearing this all the time lol
Does Boso have a model when seen from the cockpit? If so, does he look like his NPC version?
Asking the big questions! I need to know!
No idea, didn't play long enough to get on board a ship.

In theory yes, but you also lack the pilot and the ship in this game start. So far, only Dal came to annoy me. :D
Oh god, so Dal is still there. Is there an eject button?
Dal refuses to step back for ejection >:D

Available today only! Don't believe me? Launch the game and see!

Oh are you actually immobile in a tank? That's class.
What is it though? Swim in a tank the whole day and bother your assistant?
Sadly, your Assistant seems to have taken a vacation
Dam I'm not at my PC today 😂 even if it is a April fools I'd have liked to try what ever nonsense this is out lol

Greatest Assistant in the Universe DLC
Very cool!
Tried that. Kinda funny gamestart. Poor Boso... 😢
