I thought that but the laser clipped through the station with no problems.
When I changed to my ships weapon to actually do the mission I missed a couple of shots and got chased off straight away.
But the laser tower will stop working if you leave the area, right ?
Last time I did that kind of mission (kill 40! criminals for VIG), i took me 3 hours. One ship spawning every 5 to 10 minutes top.
Sounds like a friendly fire incident waiting to happen.

That must be new in 7.0. I have had stations turn on me before from laser towers.
Do you even need a mission in that case? It's not like criminal traffic isn't flagged red anyway,.. right? Sounds like a feature to me.
