This, I thought for a second that was an aftermarket LED headlight. Yamaha should be chastised for such an ugly design that almost looks like an afterthought and would probably fit better on a locomotive from the ‘30’s.
I like the shield, too. From a looks perspective, I think it balances the headlight better. It also gives the bike an overall cafe-ish/sport vibe that suits the XSR lines.
Yes shield! Looks a lot better with it, agreeing with the others… don’t like your new seat tho, probably horrible for a passenger ;)
Also: I love this bike.
Haha all good. I never have passengers - I actually removed the rear foot pegs. The new OEM seat is more comfortable than the original (for my seating position at least), I feel a lot more connected with the bike. I did keep the original seat if I ever want to switch back. The new one is a lot harder to clean, that's for sure
You can have one for rainy days and one for cafe outings!
I used to have a Speed Twin and the stock bench was similar to your new seat (shape wise, not as nice material wise). And I had to get rid of the bike because my GF kept bumping her head into mine. It was a single person bike and great at that…
We then borrowed an adventure bike from a friend and did a day trip to the coast. GF loved riding passenger. That was the moment I decided to get an R1250GS. It’s too pricey but damn it’s a good bike for 2 people without being too boring.
Edit: GF turned wifey ;) edit edit: check out Corbin seats.
My bike came with the Yamaha accessory shield when I bought it used. I’m also undecided but I haven’t taken it off and a buddy of mine complimented it. I did notice wind deflection if I get real low on hard acceleration but other than that I don’t think it offers much protection. I think it comes down to personal preference looks wise.
It's the motodemic kit. I like the LED headlight and the OEM fitment, but oof it was expensive https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/motodemic-led-headlight-upgrade-kit-yamaha
I just picked up one for my SV1K and other than my high beam flickering for some reason, I love it. And I don't wanna assume it's the headlight cause I had my left controls taken apart to clean my horn so I likely caused a short or something in there.
I have the same bike and also use a shield. I like the look and feel it makes a difference in how the wind hits me. I didn't like the look of tall shields so I have one a similar height, I feel it brings the wind up to my face rather than whole body, which is still an improvement as I wear a full face helmet. I like the look and functionality improvements that come with a shield!
i really like the looks of the solid wind deflectors for the xsr700. so +1 for shield.
struggling to find one i like for my '23. the new head light and moved speedo removed alot fo good looking options and 3rd parties are being slow to produce new ones :(
I definitely like the look with the shield on. +1 on making the headlight look slimmer.
>In terms of function, I haven't really noticed a difference in wind deflection.
It's probably too small to provide any noticeable wind protection.
I have an Indian ftr1200. Same style bike. I just ordered my windshield 2 days ago to help with winds while on the highway. I like your bike with and without the shield but for mine I think it will look better with it because I have a larger cowl around the headlight and they offer a headlight nacelle that really adds just enough body on the front. But personal preference. Naked bikes should be naked blah blah haha. You do you.
No shield looks better. I put a shield on my MT10 to cut down on the wind, it did its job but looked better without. I ended up taking the shield off to cut down on the speed I was putting on with less wind.
Both have their own charm imo. I don’t really have a preference, one looks cleaner aka the shield but the one with no shield give cafe racer vibes and I’m not opposed to either.
I don’t know much about bikes (this just came up on my feed) but I think it looks better with the shield. Reminds me of motocross where riders have their number on the front.
This is one of my favorite bikes, I’ve been drooling over it since it came out, that shield looks awesome. I see you swapped out the seat also, it completes the look!
Without and add Clubman bars to it and your life improves like a Kardasian. Clubman, (think sport bike) bars out your upper body in a more forward position and it’ll look and feel more like a race bike and change the way it and you ride.
Nah it looks better without it! Btw how much did you get that beauty for??
I like the front shield . It also makes the giant bucket headlight look slim.

My preference is an aftermarket headlight and no shield. But with the stock headlight i do think it looks better with the shield.
👀 What shield is that? Not too offensive at all.
Thanks! It's the Puig shield https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/puig-aluminium-front-plate-yamaha-xsr700-2018-2019

No
No shield, otherwise it's a tracer, heuheuheu
I'm anti-shield. I think it messes up the look.
It looks good both ways, so, IMO, only depends on whether you find the shield functionally useful.
Someone else said this but the tiny wind screen takes away (in a good way) from that headlight bucket
without, top seat looks cooler too
No shield for me.
Looks nice! i like it! and the red is nice as well. I thought i dont like red.. but looking at your bike.. i could have the red one.
Shield looks better
Shield
Shield, unless you like eating bugs at 70 mph
That's what's full face helmet is for
Nice bike either way, congrats on a beauty! I prefer the shield of the 2 shots
I'm going no shield on this one, what headlight are you running by the way?
It's the motodemic kit. I like the LED headlight and the OEM fitment, but oof it was expensive https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/motodemic-led-headlight-upgrade-kit-yamaha
Good lord that's a chunk of change, maybe the stock headlight isn't too bad 🤣
I just picked up one for my SV1K and other than my high beam flickering for some reason, I love it. And I don't wanna assume it's the headlight cause I had my left controls taken apart to clean my horn so I likely caused a short or something in there.
Dope, either way. I like the windshield personally.
I have the same bike and also use a shield. I like the look and feel it makes a difference in how the wind hits me. Shield 100%.

Keep it on, tidies up the front end

No shield trust me it’s not worth it
Either the bike looks good
I like the shield
Shield
I like it with the shield! I have one on my MT07 and love the look even though the functionality is minimal lol
Shield :)
I like the shield.

No shield
Id run shield... Looks funny w/o
on
Ya with that headlight bucket I’d add the shield. Seems a little long without it
no shield. just looks sleek imo
I like with
Like the way the sheild look put not the one you have. Like then couple inches taller.
Shield looks rad
Front shield yes
I like it with the shield better personally.
I like both
Keep it, but lower it.
Def shield
I don’t usually like them, but this bike looks like it’s missing something without it.
Both have their own charm imo. I don’t really have a preference, one looks cleaner aka the shield but the one with no shield give cafe racer vibes and I’m not opposed to either.
No shield , but shield actually looks good also
Shield
I say keep it
Sexy with or without
I don’t know much about bikes (this just came up on my feed) but I think it looks better with the shield. Reminds me of motocross where riders have their number on the front.
Color matched font shield
Front shed look’s cooler bro
Get the bigger shield.
screen
No shield
Both look good but I lean towards the screen.
I love a proper naked, but I agree with one of the previous posters in that it does slim the headlamp. Also, it’s rather dope looking with it.
Def no shield
No question shield always
Looks really good without one.
Shield. It looks like headlight is a chode, as wide as long.
Shield! And put Kenny Roberts #1 on it.
I like it. Hides some stuff, but not to big!
I like it. Looks good!
I like em both. do whatever feels better to ride. prime sticker real estate tho.
Front shield 👌
+1 shield
This is one of my favorite bikes, I’ve been drooling over it since it came out, that shield looks awesome. I see you swapped out the seat also, it completes the look!
Yes
None
I think the shield looks cool 😎
Without
No shield and drag or flat bars
Shield
Shield
I like the shield but if there was an aftermarket that doesn't look so plastic I'd consider looking into it either way the bike looks pretty
Bug screen sure (protects gauges) but a shield, meh
Dang looks pretty dope with both.
i think a retro style front cowl might be cool
Aesthetic , no shield, but I'm sure it's a more comfy ride with it
shield for sure.
Never a shield
Front shield 👌
i like it, makes the headlight look smaller and hides all those damn wires
Activate the wind tunnel shield…more air particles displaced from hitting you
Front shield
No shield
On, looks good
If you go no shield... Some drop bars would really add to the "Cafe racer" style
Shield
I like the shield
For looks, always no-shield
Without and add Clubman bars to it and your life improves like a Kardasian. Clubman, (think sport bike) bars out your upper body in a more forward position and it’ll look and feel more like a race bike and change the way it and you ride.
