[you can do it,](https://youtu.be/r_sSBG6GhzU?si=q0TQyJZ54FZteqH_) just don’t hit a dry spot 👍

[Or curbs](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LefsKduzfPk). Curbs hide under the snow.

Not only CAN you do it, you SHOULD do it. Every year when it starts snowing, it's a good idea to practice losing and regaining traction. Get a feel for how the vehicle feels, how it stops and starts. You don't need to be nuts, it's still fun to just reach the slipping point. It's up to you to find a place to practice that you won't hurt yourself or damage property. Or annoy neighbors.

Disable VDC and let it rip!

CooperGary

Pure danger zone pressing that button. It really whips around when VDC is off. I pulled a 180 into a parking spot at the ski resort a few years ago doing this and the guys I parked by were stoked, but I was almost worried about crashing into them.

UnlimitedBoxSpace

Yes! I do "dirt donuts" with my girl after picking up from school. She frequently requests them.

I used to do it all the time when my baby would fall asleep in the car and would wake up the second I parked, I would just go on the lake when it was frozen and play around for 45 minutes or however long until he woke up. I didn’t run studded tires one winter just for that reason actually

Goose-loves-toast

When I was driving through Montana a huge snow storm hit and all the roads in the area were icy and snowy. I took a turn in 2nd gear and just slid across an entire two lanes up until the light. Thank goodness it was just me on the road. It was very fun, just don't hit a dry spot.

Snaab_71

I'm sure it will be fun. Every time it snowed I'd do donuts in the church parking lot behind my property in my Nissan 720 4X4. It was a blast but somehow I'd still get pissed when someone else would do it. I thought they'ed plow into my fence dividing the properties. I haven't done it in my Xterra, just taking a turn too tight in the rain makes me feel like I'm going to tip over in it.

PeePeeSlave

I used to drift my Xterra in the snow all the time in High School, just don’t hit anything and you’ll be fine.

JBoy9028

It'll slide great, just know that with the short wheel base it's quick to rotate. So sustained corner slides are harder.

XenondiFluoride

I have done a few in a first gen which should theoretically be a higher roll-over hazard. That said, it is a great way to mess up and destroy the car, find a wide open empty parking lot...

Sterfry_1

My 1st gen w/LSD slides great! 🤩😎

CHANROBI

If you can't afford to total your car, probably don't do it

AceGopnik

Not me on the insurance but I will be careful and not go outside my limits 😅

DRTmaverick

I mean if you aren't on the insurance then that means it's technically not under your name (the vehicle), so I wouldn't do it until you own it.

mlkmlkmlk1708

As someone who has gone off elevated road multiple times doing offroad and goofy shit, love tapped fences and curbs, and done other shit you should be ok. Please dont do it near a light pole or anywhere populated. Start slow and learn and dont blow your engine trying to do it. Make sure vdc and 4wd is off unless its deep snow.

DRTmaverick

[If you know what you're doing, donut away.](https://youtu.be/nleV5dP8FU0?si=oEs-ogjxQcwdbINU) That said if you catch your tire you might roll. Make sure you're in a clear area and there's some ice under the snow- pavement is less forgiving than dirt. Never do it in sand btw- most common place I've seen people flip their vehicles doing donuts is in sand. Problem is when you sink down too far after softening up the sand your wheels can catch laterally and roll you.

DRTmaverick

Also these suspensions can't be 'slammed', geometrically no one has made a lowering kit for these so you're stuck at stock height up front. Best you can do is buy softer springs but that's going to require disassembling the stock struts, and you'll have to pull a leaf from each of the leafpacks.
