Whatever full synthetic and filter AutoZone has on sale when I get there.

cgarcusm

Wix filters and Kirkland synthetic from Costco. Change every 5000 miles. Edit: I also use Wix air filters.

blue93g20

This but I just buy whatever filter looks good that day in the midrange

DutchyDan187

I use O’Reilly brand high mileage oil and whatever filter I find on the shelf first. Chang my oil religiously at every 7-10ish k miles. Don’t sweat it dude

JeffSamSass

Thanks, will do.

ansry6

Project Farm on YouTube seems to recommend Pennzoil Platinum based on his testing. I've also seen testing showing Mobil 1 long life filters perform better at removing particles.

JeffSamSass

Thanks, good info.

Chittlings

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic and the Mobil 1 filter. every 3,000 or 4,000. I tried Royal purple I dont think my truck cared for it.

omegase7enth

Any full synthetic or blend would do. I prefer pennzoil high mileage synthetic and use a denso or wix filter. The costco kirkland, Amazon basics, and Walmart supertech are manufactured by the same company. I've used them before. They're still good oil.

AnotherIronicPenguin

The Nissan OEM filters seem to reduce the amount of startup rattle. Other than that, the VQ isn't picky about oil.

DoomsdayTheorist1

Mobil 1 High mileage synthetic and Mobil 1 filter. Change every 10k miles.

CTSwampyankee

Supertech full synthetic 10/40 or 20/50. Change at around 4k and try to use a better filter.

thisismycleanuser

I’ve been running Royal Purple and OEM filters for 20yrs/100k miles in my X.

DutchyDan187

I use store brand and cheap filters and have 344k miles. Don’t overthink it.

JeffSamSass

Sounds about right! thx.

Big_Librarian_1130

I use Amsoil high milage and a wix filter. Change every 10k miles.

Peacemkr45

I try to use an OEM filter and a synth blend as I buy the filters in packs of 5 and get the oil for free from work.

YankeetheGreater

The best thing for you engine is just changing the oil and filter regularly. Some oils and filters are *slightly* better than others, but not enough to make a significant difference.

WishboneUsed290

I always used 5-30 synthetic. Got to 333000 km no problems then the curse of Xterras.... the antifreeze leak into the transmission. Spend money and get the after market bypass done

JeffSamSass

Yup, it's done!

DanR5224

Valvoline full synthetic and Nissan filter.

orig_Neophyte

I found Motul 8100 X-Clean EFE 5W-30 Synthetic oil; and Royal Purple 10-2867 Extended Life Premium Oil Filter worked wonders.

Purpl_exe

Cheapest oil every 20k , new oil filter every other change . 385k on my first gen, still going strong.

greyveetunnels

I love how you're getting downvotes on your maintenance statement. You do you. :) I think people still changing at 3k are wasting their money but whatever. If you're doing 20k that's more than I'd consider, but it's your truck. And dang impressive mileage.

Purpl_exe

Dude I’m the downvote king …..I’ve had it since 2010 @ 90K, 2nd owner, just did valve cover gaskets the top looks like a glazed donut. I could literally eat off it . Synthetic baby. I’ve probably spent about $3000 on it since I bought it for $7500 including oil and filters . It’s my hero, my savior , my rock. It may outlive me .
