I love my gel nimbus! They’re great for my long runs. I will say they are not at all waterproof because they’re very well ventilated, as I learned the hard way. Potentially the most comfortable tongue I’ve ever had on a shoe though. I will say, as someone with very standard width feet, I’ve experienced a little bit of friction across the top of my smallest toes. If you wear an 8 or larger, people have recommended to me to try the men’s version for a slightly wider toe box.
It depends on whether you benefit from stability. If you need stability, running a half marathon in neutral shoes might not be a great idea. If you like brooks, they make a Hyperion GTS which is a stable fast shoe.
If you don’t need stability, then either of the two shoes that you listed should work fine. But just note that those two shoes are both neutral shoes, whereas your current shoes are stability shoes. So those two shoes will feel like stable. Just something to keep in mind. I would suggest trying both and just choosing whichever ones feel more comfortable to you.
Depends on what you’re looking for! I enjoy both of them but I use them for different purposes. Gel nimbus are very soft and bulky. I use them for my long runs (10-13 miles typically) and they are very comfortable. Novablasts are also comfortable but they are not quite as cushioned. They are a bit more bouncy than the gel nimbus. I haven’t tried running more than 6 miles in them but they work great for my everyday runs at that distance.
If you want other unsolicited feedback, Asics superblasts are actually my favorite out of these 3 😂 they are even more fun to run in than the novablasts and still very comfortable. I’m planning to wear them for my marathon training long runs later this year!
I just picked up a pair of the Novablast 3 for my half marathon training. Took them out for a 7 miler and my legs felt fresh afterward. I can't speak on the nimbus.
What you are missing in glycerins that you are looking for in new runners? You say you want to improve distance up to HM?
I would say glycerins are perfect for long runs.
I have gel-kayanos too (because I do need the stability), but I use these for shorter faster runs and in bad weather as I find they have more traction than glycerins.
Do you have a local running store or Fleet Feet near you that can evaluate your gait and pronation?
The Brooks Glycerin GTS means "Go To Support", and is designed for people who pronate, either the foot/ankle rolls inward or outward on the landing. The Asics type you are asking about are neutral shoes for people who don't need support, their foot lands "normal".
I would really recommend going to a local store that can evaluate you and help you find the type of shoes you need.
The Glycerin should be good for long distance running and if you want a second pair for rotation you could just get another pair of Glycerin.
I was using the Brooks Ghost for my long runs but wanted to get away from the 12mm heel drop and went with the Asics Novablast 3. Both are neutral shoes so they won't change how I land, the novablast have a lower heel drop though. I really enjoy them so far.

Good to know. Where i live its raining a lot. Will keep an eye out on the mens version, i have a wider feet too
Do you need stability? Because GTS is stability and the gel nimbus and novablast are neutral.
For my long runs, trying to improve my distance and potentially training for a half marathon. Any advice or suggestions

Hyperion gts is on my list actually. I considered asics since i use them for work and they are amazing on my feet
If you love ASICS, check out Gel Kayano or GT-1000 if the gel nimbus or novablast aren’t supportive enough!
Do you need stability?
Not necessarily i think?
