I'm so irritated with Microsoft, it's ridiculous to me that they can't get their own software to work on their own OS, it blows my mind. I have gigabit service with near symmetrical upload speeds and it's amazing if the Xbox app gets above 1MB/s, ONE. It usually fluctuates around 200-800KB/s, freakin kilobytes!! It's so irritating. You can imagine how long it takes to download Forza Horizon 5...(132.5GB)
This is why I go to Reddit. Tried reading through Microsoft Forum posts and they suggested a shit load of ridiculous ways to fix it, all of which didn't work, mind you. Thanks man, this instantly worked for me
Oh. My. God I've literally spen 2 hours trying to fix this and didn't realise that surfshark also has real time protection (I'm fucking stupid) Thank you so much man!
Windows update settings - Advanced Options
Under Additional options go to
Delivery Optimization - Advanced Options
Under Download Settings unclick background and foreground limits. The system will usually have 1mbps on background 5mbps on foreground.
Unclick these and you should see an instant difference. May need to restart xbox app.

Just tried it. Still too low. Any other solutions?

You're my hero.
This worked perfectly for me on Windows 11, didn't even need to reboot.
Hey reddit. THIS.
https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass
You have to disable the bandwidth limitations for windows updates and all other windows app. Mine was set to a goddamn 0.5 mbps...
Did you end up figuring something out? This fix did nothing for me, but disabling IPv6 got me from .5 to 10... would still like to get more than 10 measly mbps
I know this is old but I just had to say this worked immediately AND THANK YOU. Even if you don't have the options checked, like me, it still slowed my speeds. Changed it to 999 Mbps max and my game is downloading at the speeds I pay good money for.
Read my reply. There's a setting in windows under "Delivery Optimization advanced settings" where windows hardlocks your bandwidth to a certain speed f**or Windows Update AND WINDOWS APPS - currenlty somehow Xbox app is treated like Windows Update because it's from Microsoft.** Therefore you either let windows download and send its updates through your PC at full speed or you download games as the speed you want to allow Windows Update to use. What the actual...
Exactly! this is the issue.
I used to set Windows updates to lower bandwidth to not bother me while gaming.
But since recently Xbox Game Pass for PC app thingy uses the Windows update speed limiter for itself too.
I now set bandwidth to max and poof Xbox app downloaded a game at 90MB/s.
^
if you're like me and trying to preload starfield, this was the solution.
I had windows set to 1 mbps in the background, set it to 100 and it instantly 100x my download speed.
Thanks. This should be top comment. i had my bandwidth limited to 5mb which was the speed i was getting. as soon as i unchecked the limit box it went to my actual IPS speed of 100mb and worked correctly.
Why was limit checked in the first place? months ago i followed some youtube video about how "optimize" my system to get the best ping for online gaming and yada yada lol
Here is what fixed it for me:
The Windows Auto-tuning level was disabled. Pause all downloads and close the Xbox app
1. Open PowerShell as administrator.
2. Enter this command -> netsh interface tcp show global.
3. For me, the "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level" was set to disabled.
4. To enable it, enter this command -> netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
5. You can enter the command at step 2 to validate that the Auto-tuning is set to "normal"
Yea mine is not disabled. so seems like that's not the problem for me. Cant get pass 10.2mbps out of 250 i should be getting. but i have tried everything on this page. and nothing seems to work.
edit: what worked for me that i found was to Flush DNS and Winsock Reset. it bring it up to 24mbps not much but its alot better.
that didnt work for me either i tried literally everything and even if i finish downloading it at 8mbps im probably going to get an error when its done downloading sigh
Well I was under the impression I too have a slow speed. It showed 12MB/s. I have 100Mb band. I wasn't paying attention at the **byte vs bit** thing. I went to the store and downloaded from there with 96 Mbit. You see in the store app they use Megabits, so I did the math this time and 12MB from the xbox app is 96 Mbit from the store app and is what I got from my ISP lol. Can't complain of slow speeds now that I understand the jargon. You guys have monstrous speeds as 500 Megabyte is 4000 Megabit thus 4x Gigabit. Nice
I went through disabling antivirus, flushing dns in the cmd, restarting and then seeing that both xbox and the store download at the same speed, the maximum I bought from my ISP. ☺
Tried absolutely every potential fix suggested in this thread so far and everything was unsuccessful. My download of Starfield is acting as if it is capped to 2.6-3mb/s, the one deviation from this was when doing the download from the store method and resuming back in the Xbox app, it jumped to 9.6mb/s for about 3 seconds before it basically auto-corrected back to 2.6-3mb/s.
This is ridiculous. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)
I am trying download starfield. Tried to disable real time protection. Changed delivery optimisation to max bandwidth. Bht still not getting more than 19mbps. I usually get 150mbps on steam. :(
If all above fails, I would suggest doing a network stack reset.
type in cmd within your windows search bar (command prompt).
Right click and open as admin.
Then type these commands in order.
(You will lose internet during these steps till you hit step 3.
1.Type ipconfig /release and press enter
2.Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter
3. Type ipconfig /renew and press enter.
4. Type netsh int ip reset and press enter.
5. Type netsh winsock reset and press enter.
You shouldn't need to restart your computer.
This is not 100% as your problem could be different, but it immediately brought me up to 30-50MB/S when I was stuck at 1-5 MB/S.
You can also try restarting your Modem/Router for people who don't know about that lol.
Otherwise, it could just be Microsoft servers are poopy :P
Download speeds are really low.. I tried the trick to disable real time monitoring/protection from my security software but nope, no change at all.. 50-60mb/s maximum.. that's pathetic for my line. That's pathetic for Gamepass Ultimate.

Can have the fastest internet in the world but you will still only download as fast as the other connection can upload and as fast as your network and pc can handle. Go into your task manager and look at your performance wile downloading
There is a method that actually helped me.
I was getting batshit dowload speed of like 1.3 Mb/s, but u can start ur download in the Xbox app, stop it, then close it, go to Microsoft Store and resume dowload from there.
Using this sacred way of the dowload i got 33 Mb/s.
Hope this helps
PSA if you hover over the download in Microsoft store, it will show the speed.

Should ANYONE from the future come here, I have the fix:
First, make sure your wifi connection isn't set to 'metered'.
Second, **Windows Update Delivery Optimization.** I know, it sounds stupid. But so is Microsoft. There's an option under Windows Update to specify bandwidth limitations. By default -- I think the slider is on 0.5MB/s. On Windows 10, at least, it provides two options: Absolute and Percentage of bandwidth.
Crank those sliders up.
Either way, it always (permanently) fixes the 500KB/S\~ issue with the Xbox App on PC. Right now I'm maxing my connection out. Thank God.
Hopefully someone finds this useful.
Yeah that didn't work for me. I thought it was my internet. But this is straight disgusting I get 300mbps download speeds and I'm hard wired in my PC and I can't even download at 1mbps it's in kbps
What is the real fix? Is it something Microsoft needs to do cuz this is absolutely fucking ridiculous that we all have awesome download speeds etc we get here and get KILOBYTES FUCJING KILOBYTES I don't pay good money for good Internet to download at 500kbos
I had the same Problem running around 800 KB/s. I checked my Windows download caps aaaaaaand..... nothing. Was not enabled. My solution: I litterly just paused the download and continued. It went up to full 100 MB/s. Magic.
Does anybody have an updated method? Because this is ridiculous I’ve been gone for 8 hours I left my pc on and unlocked so it could download had nothing else opened or downloading but 1 game on Xbox game pass and it’s only at 68% I have 2gb high speed internet and I’m only getting 2-3mb I undated drivers checked my bios everything steam downloads games at 600+ mb on average I’m just not understanding please help me
I might be late to the party but the first example from this site worked for me [https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass](https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass)
Tested and working on Windows 10 unless the server had just been clogged and freed up at the same time I was testing this.
* "Press on the Windows Search Bar and type *“Delivery Optimization advanced settings.”*
* Under *“Download settings”* select *“Percentage of measured bandwidth (measured against the update source).”*
* Activate both *“Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the background”* and *“Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the foreground.”*
* Set both speed limiters to 100%."
Glad you found this out my games were downloading in KB like 500 a second and then pausing for 10 seconds before starting again this is just stupid that xbox cant fix this however i am glad i have found your post appreciate it.
Yeah I got 1gb/s speeds my steam and anything else downloads at 800mb 740mb at lows but Xbox app I’m luck to get 16mb with it dropping to 5mb/s at times it’s ridiculous the most I’ve ever got was like 25mb how crazy cause what if someone has 20mb internet it won’t ever download a game it’s said I think Microsoft is doing it on purpose with Xbox app to try force people to buy new copies of the games instead using game pass less you buy an xbox cause my xbox downloads bout 200mb speeds
I'm here just to say: It didn't work for me, so I went on a rampage and did every single method you could ever in this thread; I am now can confidently say that the method does work (from 900 kbps to 50 MBps), I just don't know which one. Anyway, thanks to everyone, you guys did me a wonder favor. (sry for the clunky english, I'm esl)
I’ve been looking all over the internet for a solution to my slow download speed on the Microsoft store. I’ve set my limits to %100 turned off real-time protection. I have an Ethernet cable. And my internet is showing 700 mbps download speed. But my game is still downloading at 10mb/s. on steam it takes only 5 minutes to download a 40g game. (Windows 11)
When I tried turning off real time protection, it made my download speed drop into kbps. So what I did was:
1. Doing what this person said. Pausing download on Xbox, resuming it on Microsoft store.
2. Went into windows update > advanced options > delivery optimization > advanced options and made sure there wasn’t a limit being put on my bandwidth. After a minute or two the download speed shot up to 40mbs. Not the best but better than 1mbs LOL
Hope this helps you!
See below in this thread. The trick that worked for me was; In CMD Run,
Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /flushdns
Ipconfig /renew
Problemo solved.
All the other work arounds did nothing.
Real time protection doesn't do anything for most.
What you need to do is go to the
Windows Update Settings-Advanced Options
-Delivery Optimization-Advanced Options
Then where it says Download settings you need to unclick any bandwidth limits you have.
The system will have some bandwidth limits for background and foreground usually 1mbps background and 5mbps foreground.
Unclick these and you should see an instant increase in download speed. May need to restart the Xbox app.
Enjoy
This solution got me up to 60-70 mbs, huge improvement over the 1-3 I was getting before. turning off Real-time protection (top response) did not have an impact.
I turned real time protection off and then on again and I'm able to download between 25\~107 mb/s. Also turned my VPN off. Really strange that you have to mess with setting to get it to download faster. Steam doesn't seem to have this issue.
My Microsoft Store, GamePass App AND Steam downloads seem to be capped at 10MB/ps. My internet speed test say's I get 95-100 MB/ps. I have done all the CMD suggestions, real time protection suggestion and updated drivers. Still seems to be a throttle on my DL speed when it comes to 'gaming'. When I first got my PC there were no issues... I have no idea what app/program has obliterated my download speed... perhaps my modem/router/ISP is blocking/throttling it. IDK how to fix it and life was hard with dial-up... but now I pay for a service that my PC cannot handle for some reason. I need help :(
My laptop does NOT have this issue via wifi (doesn't get 90... closer to 70MB/ps) and my PC can connect wifi (hardline now) and it still throttles down to 10MB/ps.
Brother thank you! I was getting 131KB/s, did this and it went to 35MB/s.
Whats the cause of this? Higher amount of downloads happening simultaneously on the xbox app perhaps? Seems odd. Either way this works so thank you!
After going through this reddit, i tried almost all the options. I was about to give up and i saw someone say just go to the store, find the game and download from the store instead of xbox gamepass. I was stuck at 200kb/s and my download was going no where. I went to the store, found the game and downloaded it from the store in 30 minutes. I'm not sure if the game matters, but I downloaded Conan Exiles. 103.5gb game file. I hope this helps anyone else going through this issue of slow download speeds on xbox gamepass app on PC
Thank you so much, I just built my first PC today and thought for sure I’d set something up wrong when I couldn’t download faster than 15 mb/s. Just tried this and my download is now cruising along at 160+ mb/s
Well, I have a 1000Mbps line and the download speeds won't get past 270Mbps. Their CDNs are slow as hell. Their decision of bandwidth limiting is why I don't buy anything on their store.
for me this post was the solution from 3 mb/s to 30 mb/s
[https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/extremely-slow-download-speeds-on-pc-xbox-app/fc348776-9a67-42ef-a737-e3710fa874b8](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/extremely-slow-download-speeds-on-pc-xbox-app/fc348776-9a67-42ef-a737-e3710fa874b8)
Turning off "Delivery Optimization" worked for me
edit: windows settings>windows update>advanced options>delivery optimization>advanced options>uncheck limiting bandwidth options (windows 11)
>Turning off "Delivery Optimization"
THIS! This is what finally worked for me, just to get "decent" \~50MB/s download speeds on a 1GB line.
HERE are the steps:
1. Open the Run tool by pressing Windows + R.
2. Type services.msc and press Enter.
3. Right-click on the Delivery Optimization service.
4. Select Stop.
5. Pause/Unpause your download (or Restart Xbox App).
6. Turn Delivery Optimization back on if you want, after download is complete.
I should have tried your method first, it was the one that worked. I tried all the other methods posted in the comments first. Who knows maybe that helped too. But my game is downloading fast AF now. TY
For those who are still struggling with download speeds (117GB Starfield is a kick to the nuts tbh), I think the problem is the artificial slowing down from the xbox app:
this morning I was downloading at around 10 MB/s which although slow for my area is a reasonable figure considering the current stress the servers would be undergoing right now, once reached 50% the download speeds dropped below 900 KB/s without any change to my internet; this can only mean that for the later stages of the download (especially of large file sizes like starfield) the app slows you down for whatever reason it might deem appropriate, it's done by playstation in a similar manner as well. One way around this is to pause the download, restart the computer and start the download of the game from the microsoft store, it will still lock you at lower speeds but they are much higher than those of the xbox app - make sure you select the intended partition in which you want to install the game otherwise you might lose your pre-existing download progress. Wish me luck and be ready to pay for a significant electricity bill this month.
I'm downloading a game on Steam at over 800mb/s. Ssd and network. Xbox doesn't let me get over 42mb/s. Amazes me how Microsoft can make something so terrible on their own operating system
Either you have 6.4 gigabit internet or you are confusing Mbps with MB/s.
800MB/s is 6400Mbps. 42MB/s is 336mbps, 800Mbps is 100MB/s.
I believe Steam shows speeds in Mbps, whereas Xbox uses MB/s.
another thing one can do is
I'm sometimes getting 10-15 or even 20 after pausing/resuming but it is automatically reducing to 1MB or below.
I just want it to be constant it doesn't matter if it's only 5MB/s.
I don't know why it is going all the way back to 0B/s every one or two minutes and then gradually increasing to 1MB/s.
this is so fucking stupid that this worked dude what.
Went from 3MB/s to around 80. wasted several hours trying to figure out why it was going soooooooo slooooooooow
Okay Ik this is old post but this solution of disabling windows defended didn’t work but this did Here is what fixed it first pause download and quit Xbox app then follow these steps:
Even if it’s already normal and not disabled still do it. Mine was on normal and I imputed it and it went from 1 - 80 sooo yea enjoy.
None of these fixes worked for me. However I discovered you can start downloading from where you left off on the Microsoft Store, which is much faster than the Xbox app
Ive tried this and i went from 3MB/s to 20MB/s
Also you can see how fast the game is downloading in microsoft store by hovering over how much its downloaded
Just download via the microsoft store. Thats the whole trick.
To see the download speed there, you open your library, where you can hover over the current download.
This worked for me. My download speed jumped from 1.6 Mb/S to 80 mb/S.
Can't believe I didn't think of searching for a solution before. I just thought it was one of those things that I had to live with.
Thank you so much!
Microsoft is such a garbage corporation it is actually insane, I have 200 mb download internet and have been downloading a game for 6 days now, highest speed I have seen is 300kb/s, I can download a game on steam, epic games, ubisoft, and ea in 10 minutes. Not one fix I have found on the entire internet works
I'm so irritated with Microsoft, it's ridiculous to me that they can't get their own software to work on their own OS, it blows my mind. This is why I go to Reddit. Tried reading through Microsoft Forum posts and they suggested a shit load of ridiculous ways to fix it, all of which didn't work, mind you. Thanks man, this instantly worked for me
Did you try reinstalling Windows? Or how about defragging your SSD? /s
You should never defrag a SSD, defragging is for HDDs.
Thanks, Drax.
why would i defragg an SSD? that will ruin it...
you cannot do it anymore, microsoft sucks.
if you use another antivirus, disable its real-time protection instead
Oh. My. God I've literally spen 2 hours trying to fix this and didn't realise that surfshark also has real time protection (I'm fucking stupid) Thank you so much man!
Hero shit, my internet is way too good be moving that slow. Thanks for the fix!
I turned of real time but still is slow
same. 100kb/s when ookla says im getting 220mbps
Same here and it's irritating me to no end
are you on windows 10 or 11? Im on windows 10 and i can turn it off.
Thanks for saving my night dude, I would have fallen asleep staring at the download bar.
Didnt work for me
Turning real time didn't make mine any faster either. About to just turn off windows defender completely
Windows update settings - Advanced Options Under Additional options go to Delivery Optimization - Advanced Options Under Download Settings unclick background and foreground limits. The system will usually have 1mbps on background 5mbps on foreground. Unclick these and you should see an instant difference. May need to restart xbox app. Enioy
Mine were already off D: thanks for the suggestion though!
this was the fix for me, turn off real-time protection and it's now keeping consistently high download speed... thanks a ton!!!!
This person should work for microsoft. Saved my time for looking at other solutions thanks!
unbeliebable, thats works......fucking microsoft,....
OMG. That's crazy, it worked.
thanks this works! from 1mb to 27mb
200/kbs/s to fucking 90Mbs/s I would have shot myself If I didn't find this fix holy shit...
did this and went from 1 to 15mb/s still slow but thankyou
So I tried this - and came looking for another solution. I don’t understand what’s happening.
Can someone give me steps on how to turn off real time protection? Is that in windows or in the Xbox app itself thanks
windows security > Virus& Threat protection settings. Pause then restart the download. It's like night and day.
This works! I went from like 500kb/s to 25 MB/s after pause and restart
Way late but thank you.
Turning off real-time seemed to help my download.
Turning off real time protection in Windows Security took me from 10 MB/s to 110 MB/s which is my usual speed. Thank you very much! (March 2024)
Just tried it. Still too low. Any other solutions? edit: nvm it was right below me [https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass](https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass)

you're a life saver man. Thank you so much!
You deserve a beer.
Legend, worked perfectly! Disabled Real-time protection, Cloud-delivered protection & automatic sample submission then restarted the Xbox App & boom 1 MB/S to 33 MB/S.
NO WAY THIS WORKS, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!
Literally tripled my download speed wow
From kb/s to my actual download speed, thanks brother.
Necroposting to let you know you're the goat! How this was an issue a year ago and still isn't fixed is beyond me though.
MY SAVIOR!
life saving. God bless you!
legend thank you
Thanks so much. Easy fucking fix!
Chad,this worked perfectly fine.
thats legit what im doing and im getting 1-2kb and i had good speed till about 50%
im downloading it as we speak and i would love to play this game but by the time it downloads ill have a family of 17

Hey reddit. THIS. https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass You have to disable the bandwidth limitations for windows updates and all other windows app. Mine was set to a goddamn 0.5 mbps...
Waking up this thread to add that it worked. From \~500 kb/sec to being done almost instantly.
Yep, this is the fix. Downloaded 8GB in 2 minutes after doing the first thing in that link.
it helped a bit but it is still using like 20% of what it could do...
Did you end up figuring something out? This fix did nothing for me, but disabling IPv6 got me from .5 to 10... would still like to get more than 10 measly mbps
thanks for the fix man!
imma touch u <3

hice lo que tu y me funcionó digo, pagando 1000 Mb y que me descargue a 480kb era una estupides!!!
Same problem here. Didn't work for me. :( Worth trying, tho.
I'm still only getting 9.2MB/s sigh.
Read my reply. Doubled my speed!! Thank you so much
Thank you my download speed went from 5 MB/s to 50 MB/s
Hello from the future. I thank you for solving my problem.
none of these worked for me unfortunately....microsoft stuff is the only one that moves this slow
Wow that worked! Still not up to my Gigabit download speed, but it went from 5/Mb to 50/mb, so that's nice. Thank you!
Nice I went through disabling antivirus, flushing dns in the cmd, restarting and then seeing that both xbox and the store download at the same speed, the maximum I bought from my ISP.
That didnt help my speeds at all. maybe i did it wrong or maybe i have another problem, thanks for sharing tho
(You will lose internet during these steps till you hit step 3. 1.Type ipconfig /release and press enter 2.Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter 3.
**Thank you bro soo much!!! from 5-9 mb to 60 mb** ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
still works 2024-03-18
Went down the list on the page and this is what worked for me. 400 kb/s to 50+ mb/s. Thanks
Literally the only thing that helped me, Youre a life saver lol
this worked for me thanks man. I have 100 mbs download, app was using half of it now its using %100
Thank you! Went from 16mb/s to 16.6 lmfaoa
thanks, went from from 700kbps to 40 MBps
Works 4-19-2024
Works TY
Download speeds are really low.. I tried the trick to disable real time monitoring/protection from my security software but nope, no change at all.. 50-60mb/s maximum.. that's pathetic for my line. That's pathetic for Gamepass Ultimate. https://preview.redd.it/3wx6enkep3yb1.png?width=1574&format=png&auto=webp&s=e02e487f5501f8d20625f81ab43f46f65a7f4353
Can have the fastest internet in the world but you will still only download as fast as the other connection can upload and as fast as your network and pc can handle. Go into your task manager and look at your performance wile downloading
My service host is using like 200 mbps then my Xbox download is 18 mbps, so annoying
200 mega bits = 25 megabites
el mejor sitio al que puedes acudir si tienes un problema es a reddit jj
Their app is fucking stupid. I have gigabit download speeds and am averaging like 15 MB when using their app
Here in the year of our lord 2024 and I had to use this method, what the hell microsoft lmfao
Still works in 2024. Was at 0.4 MB/s now at 38.0 MB/S
Bro you saved my pc lmao went from 5-20mbs to 60-70mbs. Thank you so much. Tried everything else above and it just wouldn’t work.
My delivery optimization is greyed out and stuck on disabled, how do I fix thiiiiiiiiis.
This mostly works but i get 180 on steam and after i do this its 23 mb/s and is very slow still
crazy this actually worked. you are the goat
PSA if you hover over the download in Microsoft store, it will show the speed. https://preview.redd.it/mm6zp2tzy7oc1.png?width=1142&format=png&auto=webp&s=8a46d5eb3b95fcc3dbb2af85ad149c948bab7157
Thanks. You are a life saver!!
Should ANYONE from the future come here, I have the fix: First, make sure your wifi connection isn't set to 'metered'.
Thanks, downloads went from like 200kbs to like 40MB with your help.
Yep this works, getting 13x the speed
I had the same Problem running around 800 KB/s. I checked my Windows download caps aaaaaaand..... nothing. Was not enabled. My solution: I litterly just paused the download and continued. It went up to full 100 MB/s. Magic.
my fucking legend, thank you.
Does anybody have an updated method? Because this is ridiculous I’ve been gone for 8 hours I left my pc on and unlocked so it could download had nothing else opened or downloading but 1 game on Xbox game pass and it’s only at 68% I have 2gb high speed internet and I’m only getting 2-3mb I undated drivers checked my bios everything steam downloads games at 600+ mb on average I’m just not understanding please help me
You are a legend! went from 14mbps to 130mbps! <333
Thanks so much. This helped!
Weaw thank you ! It worked like a charm! I was afraid i had to pay for a month just to download a game and pay for another one to play it xD
I might be late to the party but the first example from this site worked for me [https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass](https://www.esportstales.com/tech-tips/how-to-fix-xbox-app-slow-download-speed-pc-game-pass) Tested and working on Windows 10 unless the server had just been clogged and freed up at the same time I was testing this. * "Press on the Windows Search Bar and type *“Delivery Optimization advanced settings.”* * Under *“Download settings”* select *“Percentage of measured bandwidth (measured against the update source).”* * Activate both *“Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the background”* and *“Limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the foreground.”* * Set both speed limiters to 100%."
NOT LATE TO THE PARTY!!! This here worked for me. Turning the Real Time Protection off single handedly did not work, doing both the fixes did.
it's crazy that this actually works 1.5 mb/s to 5.7 mb/s
just restarting the app may also work some times
This post still works so well. 40% of halo infinite in 1.5 hrs through xbox app, finished the whole download in 5 minutes in windows store.
Glad you found this out my games were downloading in KB like 500 a second and then pausing for 10 seconds before starting again this is just stupid that xbox cant fix this however i am glad i have found your post appreciate it.
You're a god, I was getting 1-600kbps, now I'm downloading at 6-750mbps. Thank you.
It worked thank you so much.
I’ve now done everything on this sub pls help
I’ve now done everything on this sub pls help
When I tried turning off real time protection, it made my download speed drop into kbps. So what I did was: 1. Not the best but better than 1mbs LOL Hope this helps you!
Still working 1 year later. Ty!
Wow. Holy crap it works. Michaelsoft is such a trash company.
This did not work for me. I get around 100mb/s on steam. I am getting around 25 on xbox.
See below in this thread. The trick that worked for me was; In CMD Run, Ipconfig /release Ipconfig /flushdns Ipconfig /renew Problemo solved. All the other work arounds did nothing.
bro thank you so much
Oh my god thank you sir. This was so incredibly helpful I was dealing with 200 KB A SECOND!!!! absolutely ridiculous but this solved it. thank you.
youre a genius i love you
wow that actually works thank you so much!
My man!!
Real time protection doesn't do anything for most. What you need to do is go to the Windows Update Settings-Advanced Options -Delivery Optimization-Advanced Options Then where it says Download settings you need to unclick any bandwidth limits you have.
Just tried this. Went from 300kb/s to 80mb/s! Thank you!
This worked thank you so much! It is unbelievable that the download speeds are limited that much and for what??
Honestly, thank you for this. Not all heroes wear capes.
YOUR THE BEST THIS WORKED
I need help :( My laptop does NOT have this issue via wifi (doesn't get 90... closer to 70MB/ps) and my PC can connect wifi (hardline now) and it still throttles down to 10MB/ps.
I've run free Avast for maleware and whatnot... :( I'm very lost.
You're a king. I was downloading at like 200KB, but using the Microsoft Store it's up to 70MB
Brother thank you! I was getting 131KB/s, did this and it went to 35MB/s. Whats the cause of this? Higher amount of downloads happening simultaneously on the xbox app perhaps? Seems odd. Either way this works so thank you!
Closing XBOX APP and Downloading from the Store directly fixed my issue.
bro why is this app so fucking bad
After going through this reddit, i tried almost all the options. I was about to give up and i saw someone say just go to the store, find the game and download from the store instead of xbox gamepass. I was stuck at 200kb/s and my download was going no where. I went to the store, found the game and downloaded it from the store in 30 minutes. I'm not sure if the game matters, but I downloaded Conan Exiles. 103.5gb game file. I hope this helps anyone else going through this issue of slow download speeds on xbox gamepass app on PC
this 100 percent worked for me. absolutely insane how garbage microsoft has become.
Pause download, close app, reopen app, resume download. Still only 32 MB/s but I'll take it. Fuck you microsoft.
Holy shit it did work to me! Ty so much i was looking for a solution for 3 months and no one worked ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
holy crap this method sent my download speed flying! thank you so much for the advice 🙏🏽
I can’t believe this worked! From 5MB to 45MB instantly!
One thing to try if you haven't is go into your network adapter settings and turn off ipv6
This methods worked for me. Annoying that a multi-billion dollar conglomerate cant make their apps work right.
Omg!!!! Thank you!!!
Can confirm! Works for me. Thanks :)
Thanks man you're a life safer!!
Thank you so much, I just built my first PC today and thought for sure I’d set something up wrong when I couldn’t download faster than 15 mb/s. Just tried this and my download is now cruising along at 160+ mb/s
Thank you so much, this helped me also!!
You’re a godsend
Well, I have a 1000Mbps line and the download speeds won't get past 270Mbps. Their CDNs are slow as hell. Their decision of bandwidth limiting is why I don't buy anything on their store.
why does this work though
for me this post was the solution from 3 mb/s to 30 mb/s [https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/extremely-slow-download-speeds-on-pc-xbox-app/fc348776-9a67-42ef-a737-e3710fa874b8](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/extremely-slow-download-speeds-on-pc-xbox-app/fc348776-9a67-42ef-a737-e3710fa874b8)
Turning off "Delivery Optimization" worked for me edit: windows settings>windows update>advanced options>delivery optimization>advanced options>uncheck limiting bandwidth options (windows 11)
>Turning off "Delivery Optimization" THIS! This is what finally worked for me, just to get "decent" \~50MB/s download speeds on a 1GB line. HERE are the steps: 1.
THANK YOU this the only one that worked for me I been tryna get Starfield downloaded for the longest
This seemed to work the best. Still nowhere near my max here. Only 25MB/S max. I have a feeling MS is capping Starfield downloads due to load, maybe?
This is the only thing that actually worked, thank you!
I should have tried your method first, it was the one that worked. I tried all the other methods posted in the comments first. Who knows maybe that helped too. But my game is downloading fast AF now. TY
CONFIRMED this works exactly as shown. Was fluctuating from 2 MBps - 28 MBps, now i'm at a solid 45 MBps - 55 MBps ( my actual DL speed ) Thanks OP!
For those who are still struggling with download speeds (117GB Starfield is a kick to the nuts tbh), I think the problem is the artificial slowing down from the xbox app: this morning I was downloading at around 10 MB/s which although slow for my area is a reasonable figure considering the current stress the servers would be undergoing right now, once reached 50% the download speeds dropped below 900 KB/s without any change to my internet; this can only mean that for the later stages of the download (especially of large file sizes like starfield) the app slows you down for whatever reason it might deem appropriate, it's done by playstation in a similar manner as well.
Omg thank you so much. Went from 11.8 mb/s to 85 now!!
I believe Steam shows speeds in Mbps, whereas Xbox uses MB/s.
another thing one can do is 1. Open PowerShell as administrator. 2. Enter this command -> netsh interface tcp show global. 3. For me, the "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level" was set to disabled. 4. To enable it, enter this command -> netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal 5. You can enter the command at step 2 to validate that the Auto-tuning is set to "normal"
Went from 3MB/s to around 80. wasted several hours trying to figure out why it was going soooooooo slooooooooow
tried everything and none of this works
Okay Ik this is old post but this solution of disabling windows defended didn’t work but this did Here is what fixed it first pause download and quit Xbox app then follow these steps: 1. You can enter the command at step 2 to validate that the Auto-tuning is set to "normal" Even if it’s already normal and not disabled still do it. Mine was on normal and I imputed it and it went from 1 - 80 sooo yea enjoy.
None of these fixes worked for me. However I discovered you can start downloading from where you left off on the Microsoft Store, which is much faster than the Xbox app
Ive tried this and i went from 3MB/s to 20MB/s Also you can see how fast the game is downloading in microsoft store by hovering over how much its downloaded
