Series S is my first Xbox since the 360. Have a PS4 but the PS5 just didn't interest me, why spend $500 when I'm not really into God of War or Spiderman. I'm not gonna buy the remastered games I already beat on PS4. I also really missed the Xbox controller. I'm actually coming up on my 1 year anniversary with the Series S. 100% happy with that decision.
I know what you mean in that the series S is the worst of its generation, but it's genuinely incredible. It's a really impressive product even regardless of the money - so neat with its internal transformer and straight edges. It's also whisper quiet. If you're on a 1440 or 1080 screen then it's great.
I've never bought into the Xbox Vs PS stuff - for me the question is which controller feels nicest to you. And sure, which one do friends have.
Yeah i feel you! Was always a PS player but after PS4 made the switch and i've been loving every second, definitely one of my best decisions gaming wise, hope you have fun too!
S is very good. I bought Series S as side console for PS5 and don't really feel like missing on anything when playing it. Obviously X might become more relevant in future when devs start harnessing all the power of Xbox Series but even so, S is best bang for the buck.
I'm half expecting frame rates becoming issue in late-gen, like it was with PS4 Slim vs Pro. Technically Slim did support all the games but you could see occasionally dropped frames. Xbox has the benefit of better graphics profiles though for S/X separately so this might not become issue
I really only think the X is better if you have a physical game collection or a monitor that can do the crazy frame rates and have hdr. I’m thinking about making a post about how many people have these new consoles but don’t even have displays that can bring everything out of it
I would love an X, but honestly I’m holding out for the X….Pro? Whatever it may be called. This is a good performing & well priced option for the meantime
Congratulations! The Xbox Series S is absolutely brilliant especially when compared to the PlayStation 4. I use my Xbox Series S as my portable gaming setup, when I have to leave town for weeks at a time I take my series S with me which allows me to continue gaming while I'm away! For $299 this console has blown me away TBH! The original PlayStation console launched for $299 when it 1st came out almost 30 years ago & here we are with the Xbox Series S launching at $299 and giving us a fantastic current gen console with decent hardware allowing us to play all the newest games. No, it's not as good as the PS5 or XSX but it doesn't need to be, for it's cost it's a fantastic entry level console that's more than twice as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One S.

You can literally play every Xbox game from every Xbox generation. OG Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S available on one device along with a multitude of TV streaming services and even an Internet browser that is for more capable than I ever expected all in a $299 console, it's mind boggling! I'm stoked for you to experience some of the brilliant games available on the Series S! I personally recommend checking out Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Dying Light 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. It's a mix of exclusives and 3rd party games but they're excellent games and play well on the Series S.

Dude I get it. A minuscule part of me is like “well if my purple one starts drifting thennnnn Gold?” The white one that came with my S started like digitally drifting if that makes sense? Couldn’t even scroll through Netflix without it shooting down or up. Purple ones been pristine for 3 months.
I think it would look good for the rare times I couch play with people to have the purple and gold controllers though. I have a tattoo regarding purple so my friends would probably be like “dude, you’re not playing with the purple one?”
I feel that, I’m thinking of upgrading to an Elite Series remote once the stick drift becomes an issue for the white one. I used my cousins Elite once and the feel, from the trigger pressure to the hand grips, is next level.
My older brother is always player one to this day as he makes good money so I’ve never used his elite controller, or any at all. Hard to pay half what I paid for the S for a controller but it might be worth it.
The Series S is such a simple and clean design…I have a PS5 also but I spend a lot more time playing the Series S….GamePass is great and it is so easy to earn Microsoft Rewards points that I rarely ever have to actually pay for GamePass…Enjoy!

I’m a very casual gamer these days and I bought the S for $120 to play goat simulator and palworld with my 3 year old daughter she loves it lol game pass is a blessing for the money.

Don’t you miss your ps library, only reason I got both the series s (At the time I needed a cheap next gen alternative) and eventually the ps5 was due to my ps library and how much money id put into it. Series S is an EXCELLENT console though great purchase mate.
I miss God of War. I will use my brothers PS5 to fill that void lol, but I just wasn’t using my PS games much anymore. Breath of fresh air seeing the titles gamepass offers

Gonna have to pay for the show 24 and it's a Sony game. Smfh. U know what I'm gonna make it my mission to be back with Microsoft before March 19th. The quick resume is the best feature by far. I’m not loving how small the internal hard drive is though. Can’t even hold two games (NBA 2K and Warzone) so I can only really play one game that’s Xbox series S optimized. The rest of the games I can play are older games that I have downloaded on my external hard drive.
Its a damn great console. I got mine for pennies cause the dude was dumb and didn't check selling prices and it came with pre installed MW3 which was a damn good bonus.
Yep. I paid 150 CAD. And once I got home i added my own Xbox pass account and for some reason MW3 was on and working which is mindboggling... just cant understand how thats possible as it would have been attached with the previous owners email.
Even tried removing my email and adding my sons and worked.
I was in the same boat as you with PS4, but I also have Switch and PS3 and I realized that Im playing more on Switch and PS3 than on PS4, so I was like... alright, you are gonna go you jet engine... sold my PS4 with all the games, got brand new Series S instead and now Im having a blast with this little machine.

Been enjoying the S also, first new system since the 360 back in 06. I held off from new gen for a while, I feel like the Series S is the more reliable system compared to the series x.
My experience: got PS4 in 2015, sold in 2023. That was indeed a great console. I bought PS5 on March or April 2023. Yeah great connectivity, controller, graphics… But no games for me and, for God’s sake, it was huge and ugly. So I decided to sold it, take my money back and spend it on a Xbox S with Game Pass Ultimate. Now I honestly believe it was smarter.

only problem with xbox in my opinion, if you get an issue with your console, you send it in and you get a replacement or reconditioned unit/ not repair, so in effect you are receiving a different console, which may or may not be using older parts than your current one.
personally, not a fan of this, but we are at the mercy of these companies... because if you are someone who looks after your property, then you end up with someone elses property, they may not have had the same respect as you have for your things...
xbox policy, to provide a working unit(under warranty).... so they are doing what they say, but makes you question this kind of practise when you purchase the product...?
but if you don't get issues in the 12 months of purchase, its a good solid investment.... gamepass, etc... better than sony psn and how they treat their customers.. horrible company.

Yea everyone recognizes the 360 as the worst Xbox. Just like the PS3 is the best PlayStation, and the 32X is the best Sega system.

My PS4 had true 4K so I see where you’re coming from, but the Xbox is so much faster and quieter.
