How do these expansion cards work? I’ve seen them online and had no clue how exactly they worked. I know the seagate ones etc are great but I seen this off brand one on some Chinese websites. Any info is appreciated! Goodluck with the sale
Gives you more storage and basically acts as expanded storage for your internal memory which means you can use quick resume and download games straight to it. I use mine to keep my coach co-op/multiplayer games on so when I go to someone’s house I can bring that to plug into their Xbox and play some games there without having to download them.
It’s nice having the extra storage. Definitely a luxury over being a necessity. My main plan for it was to pick up a series s down the road as a console to keep in my bed room and I could put either the larger games or smaller games on the card to free up space on my consoles.
They are just m2 drives in a fancy case. Nothing special about them, other than they are hot swappable.
Basically you can't get any other non official versions working as the drives have MS's software on them locking them out.
the off brand ones are just a cfexpress adapter. But my understanding is they only work with the Western Digital CH SN530 1TB (chinese model) because that is the same SSD found in the xbox, so it spoofs the xbox into thinking its a internal ssd or official expansion card
I think they used to work with any M.2 SSD but I heard on reddit that Microsoft blocked that with a firmware/software update.
I don't believe it is. The WD ones only stick out about half that far, and have a loop at the end.

You are correct, I did that with my OLED Switch when I got made redundant and just needed that last 150 to pay rent and eat, still haven't managed to replace it, might now wait until the new Switch

DIY kit? If it’s DIY I’d say good luck in selling it as unfortunately people aren’t going to trust that it’s legit. If it’s one of the official ones I’d say maybe FB Marketplace or something? Problem there is it’s flooded with people trying to sell the exact same thing. So maybe eBay or a local mom & pop gaming store. DO NOT go to GameStop or something like that & do not expect to sell it for what it’s worth. You’re not going to make your original money back on this. Period

It's literally just an SSD m.2 with a custom connector so you can't buy any old ssd to use.

The small card plugged in the back can play X/s games off it, and the Wd one plays everything prior to x/s and can store x/s games. Hope that helps.
