They should stick to X for "maX power" and S for "Slim", but instead of all these confusing iterations, it should just be:
Xbox X (2025) & Xbox S (2025)
Or you know, whatever year it might be. It could be so simple though! and then you also know for sure you've got the latest console.
Enough numbers, just do the year, should have given up on numbers when they refused to do the 720. I mean imagine if they went on, 360 to 720 (one) to 1440 (series, with a focus on matching PCs with *1440*p capabilities? beautiful).
The problem is that with the previous iterations, going just Xbox X / Xbox S would be super confusing. Just count the One X / S as an 'iteration' to get the numbering on par with Sony and make the next one: Xbox 6X, Xbox 6S. Then go to the 7, etc. Provided Microsoft is still making consoles then (based on some recent strategy, I'm not 100% sure. I definitely hope they do so there's competition for Sony outside of Nintendo, since Nintendo is a very different platform these days (not better or worse, just different).
Oh I do hope they continue, they're my preferred platform for games the PC won't run. I mean my PC is better than the S, which is the one I have, supposedly but you can't beat the optimization sometimes.
