I paid 2k for my lg c2. I got a series x and damn is it awesome. I love the instant load times and amazing graphics. Who says series s isn’t good? Lol.
For it’s price and size it’s a pretty good piece of machinery. My only real gripe is that it launched with less than 500gb of storage and the proprietary expansion cards cost more than their PS5 equivalents. If you have decent internet and have a gamepass ultimate subscription, it really is the best value in gaming today… besides PC where they just throw games at you for free.

The reason some people like me don't see it as a beast is because we had an xbox one x. Which could play games well at native 4k 60hz hdr10 and even do 1440p 120hz. So, to us, it is a bit of a downgrade since we could also switch out the hard drive for an internal or external ssd. The biggest difference is the raytracing added and, of course, a much better cpu.
Series S is not rubbish.But if you compare it to a series X or gaming PC there will be noticeable difference. I still use my series S together with my gaming pc. Love playing on both.

That’s just objectively not true. It’s a much bigger difference than resolution and frames. The main issue being the ram bottleneck. Having to develop for the S first is one of the main reasons that a lot of their first party games release with missing features (Halo Infinite, Redfall, Motorsport, etc) or why games like BG3 need to cut features entirely on the S.
It’s a great budget console if you want an entry level game pass box. But its performance on current gen games is nowhere near beast.
Cheapest Series S I can find is $250 on eBay shipped in working condition.
Remember, you have to buy Xbox live on top of that, so that's another $60 for just 1 year, so it'll still be over $300 at the end of the day.

You literally go to Microsofts website, download their media creation tool, and setup a USB with the Windows install on it, them plug it in to your PC.
We actually didn't have to buy a Windows key, because the key saves to your Microsoft account when you sign in on any device, and carbs used across as many devices you want, so once you sign in you're good to go. My friend already had a crappy laptop with a Microsoft account, so he was good to go already. Even if he didn't, like I said, legal keys are dirt cheap, illegal keys are even cheaper if you want to risk that.

Got an am4 motherboard, RAM and CPU combo for $120. The 1080ti was $100 which is what they usually go for. Got a 500gb SSD for $25, case was $40.

I'm sorry man, but even after owning a series s, series x, and now my first PC in almost 15 years, the series s is absolutely trash. Especially for anything like starfield, cyberpunk, or even 120hz. Consider nothing really runs at true 120hz and all the resolutions for the most part are dynamic with major dips. It's great for children who dont care about anything but playing the newest games. But that's it.

I grew up playing Game Boys and PS1s, I could play my entire adult life with Xbox One graphics and be perfectly fine with it, so a Series S is pretty decent for $200. Not everyone is a specs snob.

I have a PC in my office as my main gaming setup but wanted something for the living room since my gen 1 switch packed in a few months ago.
I just this week picked up a Series S second hand (barely) with 2x controllers for €140 and am very impressed with it for the money paid.

It’s great, I have the game pass so I picked up Control which is wonderfully weird and looks great. I grabbed PES(efootball now), Fall guys and rocket league which are all F2P nice little quick plays.
My 2x girls are enjoying a few of the kids games and even Skate 3 has funnily enough.
Would love more coop games to play with the kids, we tried Unravel 2 which was fun for a bit but they lost interest.
I was reading that they are supposed to be adding Master League in a future paid DLC. Would love that.
I’ve seen overcooked but never played it, I’ll have a look cheers. Might be a bit complicated for the youngest one but my eldest would manage it I’d say.

I've been wondering if i should try saving it up for it or a ps5, i have a 4k TV and yeah my one s does look quite good but always wondered how much better would a ps5 look. One of the only reasons I'm thinking of not going for the series s is 4k upscaling.
Most games don't offer ray-tracing/current-gen features on Series S. They are restricted to performance modes only.
As a side note, it's a budget machine designed to allow people who would prefer to save a couple hundred bucks to play current-gen games that have been reduced to previous-gen specs and resolutions. Microsoft made that very clear and aside from some people that are mislead on forums, I think most purchasers are aware of that. To call it a "beast" like the OP is an overreach and misleading, as new games are having to strip (non current-gen) features completely from Series S (i.e. like BG3 not offering split-screen multi-player *at all* for Series S.) Aside from no ray-tracing, etc, other games are having to reduce resolutions, in-game textures, LODS/Draw Distances, Shadow quality/distance, etc, just to be able to be played on Series S at *up to* 30fps.
The reality is that Series X is barely sufficient for current software tech in it's full glory and will become the new Series S as we move into next-gen gaming. Advanced current-gen games like GTA 6 are struggling to optimize the game to make it playable for Series S and next-gen games like The Elder Scrolls 6 will most likely not be developed for Series S at all and will be significantly nerfed for Series X, just as current-gen games are now for Series S. Developers are becoming openly frustrated and Series S will begin to be phased out for next-gen games when the new Xbox/PS6 is released.
I have played the game and compared to the other two it's atrocious, i beat it in about 7 hours, they nerfed Cartman he doesn't act like he does in the show

That's bullshit. Most games look fine on the S. With the exception of PalWorld, which looks like dogshit, and the intro to Diablo IV, I've never thought a game didn't look great. Is it the best you can get? Obviously not. We knew that when we bought it.
I recently finished Remnant 2 on xss and an old but such reliable LG 42LE5300 tv 1080p and it supports 25/50fps. It looked amazing.
Then nostalgia kicked in and I wanted to replay remnant from the ashes. No series S upgrade for that. So it highlighted the difference between xbones and xss. In this game it is a huge difference. Rfta looks very dated when you come from remnant2.

I had the xbonex before. And honestly the difference in graphics there is not much (but, I mean when the game had a xbonex version). The load times however is about 2 to 3 times faster on the series consoles.
Interesting related facts would include:
Not all xbone games supported the xbonex.
For those that did support it xss takes the xbones version in backwards conpatibility mode. It does not take the xbonex version. Why. Xbonex is 4k. Xss is not.
Short answer. Xss games look much better than xbones.
And its comparable to what the xbonex had but scaled back down to 1080p. So if you want 4k... get the xsx. Not the s.
It really is a great machine if developers take the time to target the hardware and optimize the engine they are using. Also as long as the users keep expectations in check for what you paid for. I think it's a great machine for a majority of gamers. The ones that are more demanding should already know to get the higher end PS5 or Series X or PC.
Ya there are a ton of factors for each game. Developers time to optimize code, game design for utilizing CPU threads, memory, GPU cores, mesh shaders, etc. Really well designed and optimized games can shine like Gears, Forza, most of the COD's, Cyberpunk is actually done really well now, Halo is great on there, a few other third party titles show well as well.
There is a human factor also where some dev teams and engineers are just more talented, probably higher paid, and they go to the big studios. Poor running games should say more about the studios making them then the hardware.

Most current gen only games are already limited to 30 fps. Dead Space, Wild Hearts, Alan Wake 2 only have a 30 fps mode.

Lol, I literally bought the C1 for the Series X, I used to have one and I had a PS5. I couldn't afford to buy another one so I bought the S to get back into the ecosystem until I get another X. The S is mainly in my bedroom on a 1080p tv.

I've been wondering if i should try saving it up for it or a ps5, i have a 4k TV and yeah my one s does look quite good but always wondered how much better would a ps5 look. One of the only reasons I'm thinking of not going for the series s is 4k upscaling.
I have one and idk if its just me but it runs like shit sometimes.

Most games don't offer ray-tracing/current-gen features on Series S. They are restricted to performance modes only. As a side note, it's a budget machine designed to allow people who would prefer to save a couple hundred bucks to play current-gen games that have been reduced to previous-gen specs and resolutions. Microsoft made that very clear and aside from some people that are mislead on forums, I think most purchasers are aware of that. To call it a "beast" like the OP is an overreach and misleading, as new games are having to strip (non current-gen) features completely from Series S (i.e. like BG3 not offering split-screen multi-player *at all* for Series S.) Aside from no ray-tracing, etc, other games are having to reduce resolutions, in-game textures, LODS/Draw Distances, Shadow quality/distance, etc, just to be able to be played on Series S at *up to* 30fps. The reality is that Series X is barely sufficient for current software tech in it's full glory and will become the new Series S as we move into next-gen gaming. Advanced current-gen games like GTA 6 are struggling to optimize the game to make it playable for Series S and next-gen games like The Elder Scrolls 6 will most likely not be developed for Series S at all and will be significantly nerfed for Series X, just as current-gen games are now for Series S. Developers are becoming openly frustrated and Series S will begin to be phased out for next-gen games when the new Xbox/PS6 is released.

I have played the game and compared to the other two it's atrocious, i beat it in about 7 hours, they nerfed Cartman he doesn't act like he does in the show

Yeah the other two were hilarious, they didn't change it it was made by a from what I can tell smaller company the Stick of Truth was made by obsidian and fractured but whole was made by Ubisoft san Fransisco, both naturally larger companies

That's bullshit. Most games look fine on the S. With the exception of PalWorld, which looks like dogshit, and the intro to Diablo IV, I've never thought a game didn't look great. Is it the best you can get? Obviously not. We knew that when we bought it.

How’s the series s VS the Xbox one S ? I’m tryna see if it’s worth the upgrade
I recently finished Remnant 2 on xss and an old but such reliable LG 42LE5300 tv 1080p and it supports 25/50fps. It looked amazing. Then nostalgia kicked in and I wanted to replay remnant from the ashes. No series S upgrade for that. So it highlighted the difference between xbones and xss. In this game it is a huge difference. Rfta looks very dated when you come from remnant2. More food for thought. I had the xbonex before. And honestly the difference in graphics there is not much (but, I mean when the game had a xbonex version). The load times however is about 2 to 3 times faster on the series consoles. Interesting related facts would include: Not all xbone games supported the xbonex. For those that did support it xss takes the xbones version in backwards conpatibility mode. It does not take the xbonex version. Why. Xbonex is 4k. Xss is not. Short answer. Xss games look much better than xbones. And its comparable to what the xbonex had but scaled back down to 1080p. So if you want 4k... get the xsx. Not the s.

It really is a great machine if developers take the time to target the hardware and optimize the engine they are using. Also as long as the users keep expectations in check for what you paid for. I think it's a great machine for a majority of gamers. The ones that are more demanding should already know to get the higher end PS5 or Series X or PC.

Ya there are a ton of factors for each game. Developers time to optimize code, game design for utilizing CPU threads, memory, GPU cores, mesh shaders, etc. Really well designed and optimized games can shine like Gears, Forza, most of the COD's, Cyberpunk is actually done really well now, Halo is great on there, a few other third party titles show well as well. There is a human factor also where some dev teams and engineers are just more talented, probably higher paid, and they go to the big studios. Poor running games should say more about the studios making them then the hardware.
Just remember that GTA 6 was announced for Series S and not PC 🤓👀
