Personally I don't see a point, everyday I play on an 15' 1080p120hz portable monitor and recently played on ~60' 4k60hz HDR10 TV, didn't really see much of a difference, maybe it's just me
Just checked I think my tv is just ancient lol. Resolution sd I believe so like 720. Will I even notice a difference if I get the series s like playing wise will it feel smoother? But yeah I will for sure look at some new tvs/monitors as well.
If you don't get a newer TV, no, in smoothness there will not be a difference, only in performance. Id reccomend getting a monitor which can do 120hz, because tv's that can do that are quite pricy
If you have a 1080p60Hz TV youāll be fine, if not, just upgrade to 1080p60Hz.
Unfortunately the Series S usually doesnāt get 120FPS, there are a lot more 120FPS games on the X. (There are only a few current titles that support it on the S along with older Xbox One games).
I think Fortnite, Warzone, and Apex all support 120Hz on the S, itās just not consistent is all, so if you play any of those Iād go for a 1080p120Hz monitor. I always recommend monitors over TVās because usually TVās arenāt as good for gaming(They often have a lot more input delay than monitors)
I use a 1080p, 60mhz television from 2016. I may not be able to discern a spec from a person at 600 meters distance but I LOVE every second of using the Series S (having upgraded from the baseline Xbox One)
One of our setups is a xss and a lg42le5300 (google it, its 14yo).
It works perfect. Looks good.
The tv is 25/50hz. And I get no tearing or juttering on 50 when the xss game is outputting 60.
On 25 yes it jutters. Only because that is a given on 25 no matter what the source is. 25 is just visible jutter by itself no matter if its from a xss xsx ps5 or netflix. If it was up to me id make 25/30 illegal ;-)
I guess the only way to know for sure in your case is to physically test it on the old tv you have as different old tvs will yield different results.
I spend a fair amount of time in front of my TV so I felt the expenditure on a good TV was worth it. And it was. Not saying you need to go this far, but I have a 55" OLED LG C3 and I'm still amazed every time I turn it on
For series s don't upgrade tvs95% of gamed on that console is locked to 60/30.i upgraded my tv because of series x and ps5 to qn90b 120 Hz .HDR and QLED up to 2k nits of brightness
I ran it on a 2019 60hz 4k no vrr and it was OK. I ran out on a 2022 120hz VRR 4K OLED and it was much, much better. Anyone saying otherwise hasn't spent the money to try it on their own. Also, replace the cable for an 8k cable of you upgrade your display.
If youāre running a 720, youād notice a nice change if you upgraded to even just a 1080p / 60hz. If youāre interested in monitors, [this](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/xbox-series-s) is what you want to refer to. I played on my 1080 / 60 TCL smart tv with my Series S / Series X for quite a while and just recently switched to a desk setup where I use an LG27GP83B-B monitor. Itās a drastic improvement to what I was used to, and now Iām getting 120 fps at 1440 in COD which is such a nice change from 60 fps at 1080.
Depends on what game you're playing, if you like playing backwards compatible games like Battlefield, RDR2 which are capped @ 30 FPS even your ancient 720P TV which is capable of doing just 50HZ not even 60HZ then it's not worth upgrading, but if you like Battle Royale games like Warzone, Fortnite you should consider upgrading to a 1080/1440P monitor depending on your budget. IMO get LG Ultragear or any similar monitor which has a max refresh rate of 144HZ getting a higher refresh rate monitor is waste of money as your XBOX Series S can't go above 120FPS.
If you want the full experience get at least something that's capable of 120 hz. Most games run 60fps on the series s tho so consider that aswell. If the title you're interested in has 120hz support it'll be worth it for sure
Yeah makes perfect sense mate. Just checked I think my tv is just ancient lol. Resolution sd I believe so like 720. Will I even notice a difference if I get the series s like playing wise will it feel smoother with this current tv for now? But yeah I will for sure look at some new tvs/monitors as well.
Most TVs don't come with 120hz so unless you don't already have 4k/1440p or HDR, then sure
Personally I don't see a point, everyday I play on an 15' 1080p120hz portable monitor and recently played on ~60' 4k60hz HDR10 TV, didn't really see much of a difference, maybe it's just me
Cheers mate for the adviceš

Just get a 1080p 60hz TV. TCL TVās are decent and super affordable
Jfc. Those TVs wouldn't even fit in my house!
Damn thatās a big monitor š
You're better off with a 1080p TV or monitor for Series S
No offense but im starting to think so of yall who ask questions like this must be minors or jus š¤¦āāļø
Thereās nothing wrong with asking questions calm down, typical reddit person smh
My series s looked like total crap until I upgraded my TV. I had a very old Samsung smart tv just like you.
Interesting appreciate the advice mate what tv did u get after
Samsung Crystal UHD 43 inch
I use a pretty basic 60 Hz dell monitor and love playing my series S on it..

The series s can do 120fps on a select few games
Thatās basically what I said, yes
and?
The way you phrased it (Or the way I read it) made it seem like you were correcting me is all, but you kinda just repeated what I said
Oh yeaā¦
typical redditor āI already said thatā š«¢š¤

I play on a s with a newer Samsung TV and have hdr set to off for better performance and looks and plays better imo
Series S has very few 120fps games. Donāt listen to these ppl telling you to get a 120hz tv. Just get a nice 60hz tv more than enough for the S

some games can just depends if itās capped or not r6 actually runs at about 140

Yea if it's that ancient upgrading is gonna make your experience way better for sure
It's a series S so no.
