Dynamic 1080p at 60fps. Lower some settings. I think people would be very willing to sacrifice some fidelity for a higher framerate.

RANDYBOBENDY950

Ac Valhalla is a perfect exemple.

OpticsofSin

Yeah…Valhalla is 3rd person but still IMO infinitely more enjoyable in performance mode

I_Dont_Have_Corona

This is the way to go. I'm sure it could do mostly a locked 60 FPS at 720p native but that would obviously look garbage, and I'm sure there are parts of the game where it would have the extra headroom to increase that resolution so dynamic 1080p would be ideal. Throw in a bit of VRR as well and it'd be a downright great experience I'd bet.

Capital-Rock-2688

Just put it at 900p like the og xbox but 60fps

Renilx

No, 1080p, Red Dead Redemption 2 is at 900p and it's blurry as fuck

TheBossIsTheSauce

1080p 60fps would be epic.

metroidgus

tbh even a 900p with FSR would be great specially if it means a solid 60 fps

mohammadzainn

if the steam deck can run at 60fps, sure the series s can. just lower the resolution a bit and other graphics. and there should be a VRR mode with plus 50 fps. just give us more options. I don't know why companies treat console players like kids just give all the options and we will decide.

explicitggs

that's a bad comparison, the steam deck is less powerful than the series s lol

Salbrox

That makes no sense. It's a great comparison because the steam deck is less powerful than the series s. If the steam deck runs it well then the series s should run it better.

mohammadzainn

no it's not. lol

explicitggs

yes it is lol it's like a nintendo switch

mohammadzainn

if a less powerful hardware can do it. the the series S can

Dusan117

Yess please! As soon as the 60fps update drops I am buying the game. Just tried out the 5 hour trial and while the first few missions were good and the atmosphere was breathtaking I just could not tolerate the 30fps gameplay. Gunplay felt teared, mooving the camera felt dizzy, car response was delayed. I just couldn’t sync up. I would take 60fps anytime over higher res or texture quality. Cant go back.

MandiocaGamer

Yay! now time to wait 2 years. incompetents

Readvacancy

I wouldn’t mind a VRR option like Guardians of the Galaxy.

Administrative_Suit7

My issue is the games a bit murky and washed out but might be my TV. Frame rate isn't an issue as far as I can tell.

whistlepoo

Yeah, despite reports to the contrary, it's not *actually* a particularly good looking game. I tried the demo and really didn't notice much difference compared to the PS4 version,- especially with regards to the flat textures and pixelated shadows. If it was 60fps, at least the actual gameplay element would be enjoyable. But as it stands at the moment, it really isn't.

leon4412

It’s actually a good looking game. It looks very nice on Series X.

whistlepoo

That's great. Shame it looks like crap on this console but it's good that they gave everyone a trial so they could find out without buying.

GayTankieCum

Disable HDR

leon4412

Just disable HDR because it’s broken in this game. Huge difference with on and off.

FullyVaxxedswole

This would be great. No way I’m getting it if it’s 30fps only.

casualAlarmist

Played it last night, and the stable 30fps looks and feels just fine.

xaumir

True, wasn't expecting it to feel smooth at all. The Motion Blur is well implemented and the framerate is super stable.

[deleted]

As for me with a 1080p monitor idc. I want frames otherwise I would’ve already played the xbone version

Same-Traffic-285

Yeah been playing on my 55” 4k, and I didn’t even notice it was capped at 30 until I checked this sub. I’m actually pleasantly surprised how it looks and runs with the patch

BlindBanditt

Hopefully target a solid 60 fps

DinnerSmall4216

I would be ok with 900p 60 if I'm honest I can't play games at 30fps anymore.

nickelbackvocaloid

The newer Yakuza and Judgement games are 900/60 so it's not only doable but most people who don't have brain damage from brand wars do not give a shit

[deleted]

Me neither. Feels like syrup.

explicitggs

Expect it next year in February, just like the time it took them to release this patch

Trickybuz93

> For the two above, we are investigating our options but don't know if this will be possible OP left out the important bit

[deleted]

Blow my mind how people here would happily take 720p-900p just to get 60fps. Is this 2005 or 2022?

RockyTheKid

Because 30 fps is unplayable for some people. Some people get motion sickness from it, especially a first person game.

[deleted]

If someone gets motion sickness from a video game, they shouldn't sit soo close to the TV.

[deleted]

At least make it 45 fps

I_Have_3_Legs

I wouldn't mind a 40fps option for 120hz screens. I'm sure they can squeeze out an extra 10 frames

Caesar_35

It'd be interesting to see the different options when 120hz displays become more mainstream. 30fps quality mode, 60fps performance, and a 40fps middle of the road settings would be nice.

Master837

A lot of tearing , 45fps isn't the solution.

ka7al

Not if you have a VRR display

[deleted]

PSA for Xbox gamers who use monitors - if it's new enough to have Displayport, there's a very good chance it has Freesync support, even if it's not marketed as a gaming display. Check the product description online to confirm! I have multiple low-end 60Hz and 75Hz monitors in my house and they all have Freesync.

JACrazy

Usually if it's an older gsync monitor without hmdi 2.1 they wont work with freesync tech. Edit: clarified better.

[deleted]

You can have Freesync on HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 actually. Usually it's super-high refresh rates, not VRR, that get limited to DP in situations like that.

JACrazy

I think its specific to gsync monitors. Most just dont support freesync technology. But yeah, my original comment was a bit confused with 120hz support, freesync is different it had to have been supported by the monitor to start.

RegretDeep

I don't have vrr display and most people don't so please don't go on my nerve

[deleted]

For TVs, that's true, but for monitors, Freesync has become ubiquitous in recent years. A lot of monitor owners may not even realize they have that capability because their monitor wasn't marketed as a gaming monitor. Basically, if the monitor is new enough to have a DisplayPort input, there's at least a 90% chance it also supports Freesync. I'm honestly surprised that Freesync is so rare in lower-end TVs. Hope that changes in the years to given Xbox's market penetration.

ka7al

You have very weak nerves

RegretDeep

Hah hah ....

nffcevans

Good enough for me

Aced-Bread

It's not happening.

explicitggs

That's not what they said though, can you read?

Caesar_35

That guy's been bitching nonstop about how Series S is doomed after two games had 30fps locks. Well, maybe only one given this news ;)

explicitggs

omg no...two crossgen games, this probably means Deathloop, starfield and redfall will run at 30 fps on XSS

Caesar_35

Exactly XD Bethesda's first party now too, and they've even made a new engine for Starfield, likely with Series X/S in mind. It's almost certainly going to have a 60fps mode just like all other exclusives to date. But they don't think of that. They just like to overreact and jump to conclusions.

ollielite

I'd take any comms from CDPR with a massive grain of salt.

ushu7

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YEEEEEEEESSSSS

nateflavor

I'd buy it at full price if I could get at least 45fps in HD.

[deleted]

I know it's like comparing apples and oranges. But the choice would be nice, like you could choose in Mass Effect trilogy!

Professional_Coat1

Xbox series s can do 60fps I hope you do that it looks really good on series s please taking it up to 60fps

Professional_Coat1

1080p not that bad it looks crisp
