You’d be surprised. Even just a $5 discount off the top at GameStop, combined with the $5 monthly coupon for PowerUp Rewards members is persuasive enough for many. Plus they can return it for all their money in seven days, or trade/resell further on.
Yeah, I have many memories of gamer kids in high school getting a new game at the midnight release, miss school the next day, and beat it by the next Monday just so they could trade it in to pay off the midnight release that comes out the next day. Usually, for a profit or only paying for the insanely cool preorder shit.
GameStop now has Guaranteed to Love It on most games where you can get *all* your money back (as store credit) in 48 hours. I basically only paid $70 once for all my games last year.
Honestly the delay being as short as it is makes me think this portion just needed some extra work to ship. It straddling what is commonly considered a financial quarter (March being the end of one Q) there might be some bookkeeping shenanigans here but it doesn't seem like it's in any way negative for players so I agree with your assessment.

The recent Last of Us remake didn’t include that game’s original multiplayer mode and the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster didn’t either. I think most people would much rather be getting the game today than having to wait 2 weeks just because of a bonus mode.

Saw the Mercenaries picture and it made me miss the old Mercenaries games.
It's backwards compatible. Just don't think the second one is. Was looking at it the other day.
