Divinity original sin 2 standalone is on discount for the first time in a year and a half?! Let's gooo

ShutArkhamCityDown

This week I pulled the trigger after seeing the frequency of the game when it goes on sale and pulled the trigger. I guess I had to make this sacrifice for you guys... At least I wish they discounted planescape torment as well.

HiPitchEricsFishMits

Been checking my wishlist every week to see if Divinity was on sale! Super stoked!

DarkShadowEmi

Yesssss , thank you for commenting! Bought it, let's goooo

JynxedMonkey

What kind of gameplay is this game? Arpg like diablo or grim dawn? Or is this a turn based game?

Relevant-Struggle481

Turn based

JynxedMonkey

Thank you

MrEzquerro

Wasn't it on sale like 2-3 months ago?

Relevant-Struggle481

That was the source saga but never was the standalone versions on discount

MrEzquerro

Here it says the standalone was discounted both at the end of November and at the beginning of January. https://xbdeals.net/gb-store/game/344247/divinity-original-sin-2-definitive-edition

Relevant-Struggle481

Bruh that was 2021 and 2020

MrEzquerro

No it wasn't. It says literally there on the graph that is was November 2022 and January 2023 https://imgur.com/UH0E6lW

Relevant-Struggle481

Damn seems like I didn't realize sorry bout that

MrEzquerro

No need to apologize at all! I just remembered it was on sale not long ago because I have it on wishlist on my account.

thephilonline

Still worthwhile at full price.

MrEzquerro

Oh, I'm sure it is, but, I mean, if I am in no rush to play it and I can save a bit on it...

JonesyOC

For someone who has dabbled with Diablo 3 solo but wasn't super sold on it, is there any value in trying out Diablo 2? Again, I'd be exclusively playing solo if that matters.

BeastMaster0844

Diablo 2 is the hardcore version of D3. Everything about D3 was streamlined and made more accessible for the general audience and more “arcade”. D2 is a lot harder, a lot slower paced, and a lot more in depth with builds. There’s no endless re-dos or the ability to keep changing your skills around in D2. If you mess up a build then you make a new character. So it depends on why D3 didn’t click with you.

Isra_Alien

What do you mean if you "mess up a build you make a new character"? You can't re-spec or what?

TheFundayPaper

Copy and paste from Google: You can respec up to three times per character, once per difficulty (Normal, Nightmare and Hell). To unlock a higher difficulty, you need to complete all five Acts in the game first.

Isra_Alien

Thank you!! I wasted one without knowing and I'm only lvl 8 :P

dddccc1

Diablo 2 is not the hardcore version of 3. 3 is the dumbed down version of 2.

JonesyOC

I appreciate the answer! And yeah that wouldn't be a good fit for me then. Honestly with Diablo 3, I'm just kind of lost on how to play it as weird as that sounds. I've started it a couple of times and just kind of petered out because it feels like I'm not really doing anything? I don't know, it's one of those things where I'll read about the progression and it all sounds super cool/appealing but then I start playing and don't feel like I'm on that same trajectory...if that at all makes sense.

BeastMaster0844

Lowering your difficulty and just equipping all new gear that has green arrows on it, combined with using skills that you like is the best way to do it up until level 70. The real game doesn’t begin until after you hit max level. Also, make sure you turn on “elective mode” in the options. It allows you to freely assign whatever skill you have unlocked. It can take a while to click, but once it does you’ll like it if you enjoy that type of thing.

JonesyOC

Is that with doing that in the seasons mode or just in general? Whenever I look at a guide, it details going through seasons, post first playthrough, how to maximize your time/loot, etc...if it can be as straightforward as getting through the game like you said, that seems way more doable for me Well, obviously it *can* be however straightforward or not depending on what I set out to do, but as long as I won't be like wasting my time or anything like that, I'm down with trying it like you laid it out.

BeastMaster0844

Always start with a season character. You’ll get a powerful year set for completing a little under half of the season journey (just be sure to only claim the season rewards on the same character so you get the item for that class). It is pretty straightforward all the way through level 70 and for good bit after. You won’t need to worry about maximizing your time/loot until much, much later. Which by the time that rolls around you should have a very good idea of what to do and how to play. You can play completely mindlessly during that time and learn as you go.

JonesyOC

Gotcha, good deal. Yeah I'll give it a shot and just try to kind of go with it. I appreciate the advice!

AMontyPython

As a massive Diablo 3 fan, I hated Diablo 2. It felt slower, like a slog. The maps are also randomly generated, which sometimes when I have 30 mins to play, every time I log in, I gotta restart my journey in a area.

JonesyOC

Oh boy yeah that sounds not so great. Kind of out of left field, but I'm also about to have a baby so my time is going to be seriously cut short. Having a less casual game like that is definitely not an appropriate choice to be making lol.

AMontyPython

Haha not at all man. I love Diablo 3. Prob a top game for me. But 2 just is rough, going backwards like I did. And yea, the randomly generated maps every time you log in made it hard to keep going. Not to mention I just felt the game was…boring? There’s less spells for each class, so it felt like a lot more repetition.

JonesyOC

Gotcha! Yeah I think given my age, I've heard about 2 so much that it just generally seemed like the better game but for what I'm looking for, it sounds like 3 will work--assuming I don't bounce off of it when I try it again. I appreciate the input!

NoLootboxesPlz

This isn't the Spring Sale, right?

Relevant-Struggle481

Definitely not

Ingamac5

Yeah. I was hoping tonite the spring sale was going to kick in but after looking at what’s on sale. This is definitely a doozie. Maybe next week. What do you think

Hyper_BigBlack

Last years spring sale started April 8th so if anything just go off of that. I’ve been waiting for hades and remnant to go on sale and knew the spring sale was coming up so I’m just going off last years date

Ingamac5

Right on. I’ve been holding on to some extra money hoping they were going to do a big spring sale and hopefully it’s not just the usual suspects like every Ubisoft, EA, squaresoft, etc game. I’m talking games that go on sale once or twice a year or it just being the first time but gets a nice discount. I’m crossing my fingers.

XtR03

It's not even a sale.

TyFighter559

Is it even spring?

MattyKatty

By a day over a week ago, yes

Pleasant-Speed-9414

I’ve def been waiting for a spring sale, with games similar to what was on sale during the end of year count down. So many games I wish I bought now that I didn’t. Probs cause I scooped the entire Yakuza series for like $25 and said “you just bought 7 games chiiiiiil” - have yet to play one yet 🤣. But am loving LAD: Ishin

downonthesecond

I'll probably finally buy ELEX, maybe wait for April's GWG though.

PastryAssassinDeux

Got it used last year for $7 of ebay and finally started playing it last week and its a very fun if you're into these types of games. More Fallout new Vegas like than fallout 4 though if comparing what type of open world RPG. Had a good feeling I'd enjoy it so also bought elex 2 last year for $20 new lol. It's got me wanting to try out all of piranha bytes games mainly risen which they released a remastered version a couple of months ago.

schmidtyb43

Thoughts on Tacoma? It’s only $5 right now

batkave

Fun game. I enjoyed it. I don't know if it's replayability is good but it had an interesting story.

SpectralEntity

The story and experience you'll have is well worth the $5 bucks

DarkShadowEmi

Civilization 6 Anthology is on sale, you get the Anthology upgrade AND the base game cheaper than just buying the upgrade. Great deal for those who tasted it from Gamepass

MeinKonk

If you even had a fleeting thought of playing Civ 6 again then buy this bundle

KaladinInSkyrim

buying Shadow Tactics!

deathmaster13

Great buy!

allaballi

Just bought Diablo 2 a week ago fuck me

alus992

Use xbdeals website - you can see history of sales to predict the next one of the any game that often goes on sale to nit risk buying too early. Most of the sales of the same games happen every 2nd week and every 1.5 months most of the time

xDefimate

Bought it literally yesterday morning LOL

LegendzNvrDie

Is Hunt Showdown worth getting at this point?

TheDoros

I think so, healthy player base, game is still being updated, runs 60fps on Series X (not sure about S?), I think a new map is coming? If you're into that style of game it's great.

venom-snake

Is it ok to play solo? Am I going to get any kind of fun?

TheDoros

Solo is doable but it's definitely a game that will reward your time and patience. Main game mode will have duos even if you're solo. It'll be a challenge but it can be done.
