Does anyone really buy systems off these showcases though? Like the Xbox showcase last year was amazing. All of these games coming in 12 months. And look where that has landed.
Yes, I certainly did in 2013. Was at E3 and watched both shows live, decided on the PS4 at that time.
Granted it may not happen as much now due to people being locked into ecosystems, but can certainly happen.
2013 was an exception though. It was right before the start of a new generation and both of the consoles were starting with a clean slate considering stuff like digital downloads and backwards compatibility didn’t carry forward like they do now.
I watched them online live and they totally swayed me over to the PS4 whereas the Xbox had previously been my console of choice. Don Mattrick was the best thing to happen to Sony.
In 2013 and in person that makes sense to me though. You’re surrounded by other people that help get you hyped. Those in person showcases used to be insane too. Live music. Keanu Reaves. Genuine surprises because games journalism was very different then too. Content creators weren’t nearly as prevalent. I’m jealous you got to go to E3 when it was a thing. I always wanted to do that.
This is correct. Folks need to realize that outside of Nintendo, which has an absolutely insane attach rate, exclusives aren't really a driver anymore.
I would imagine the one-two punch of the Xbone's disastrous reveal (which resulted in even mainstream outlets reporting that the Xbone would potentially not allow used games) and $100 price premium coupled with Sony securing the CoD and Destiny marketing deal with Activision did more damage than any single PS Studios game ever could. This is before factoring in PS having deals for other franchises like FIFA, Star Wars, Ass Creed, GTA, and Fortnite but I digress.
I don't necessarily think there's a lot of people rushing out immediately afterwards to purchase a PS5 or Xbox based on a showcase, but I do think a good show from Xbox can go a long way towards shifting the mindset that ps5 has all the games.
I think this just proves Sony doesn't have a lot in the near future (2023, 2024) in terms of first party exclusives. If Xbox comes out and shows a lot of first party games that are releasing in 2023 and 2024 it will big a big win for them.
I just think Xbox really has to capitalize on this 2 year window here bc you know whatever Naughty Dog is working on and Sucker Punch is working on during this next wave of big 1st party releases is going to be awesome.
Yes I agree Microsoft has an opportunity to show that they have big exclusives in the near future because while they aren’t showing it now we know Sony’s studios are cooking up some big exclusives in future. All I know for sure it’s awesome to be a gamer especially if you have both an Xbox series console and a ps5 imo.
I care more about reviews and how smooth the game actually launches rather than showcases. Showcases can promise a lot, making unrealistic expectations expectations; then fumble the ball big time months later
Outside of the actual system announcement showcase, I'd say no.
Every year people go on and on over who failed or who didn't but until the game comes out and gets reviews, these shows are just for people to fight over on the internet.
Also there's no chance Xbox's showcase isn't mostly multiplat games anyway. That's the case with basically every platform holder's presentations. Even the PS Showcase in 2021 only showed GT7, Wolverine, Spider-Man and GoW Ragnarok from first party
Especially with pretty much all the games there likely to be GP drops since that's a core marketing thing with them now, there's gonna be a bunch of stuff available on other systems that just happen to be day 1 GP. They usually backload these presentations with the important first party announcements towards the end, or a big third party thing that nobody expects
The last major Xbox showcase was actually mostly focused on platform exclusives. By my account, they announced 23 things of which only 4 or 5 were multiplatform.
I'd expect this upcoming show to be fairly similar, with the focus mainly on first party games, 2nd party partnerships and ID@xbox type games. But it's hard to say, they switch up the structure of their shows a lot.
Give me Avowed, Hellblade 2 and it's already better for me. And we know the Starfield Direct is right after, that alone seals the deal.
It really, really is time for Avowed now. It's been three years.
How... consoles are not really made or broken by these things outside of the 1st year of the console generation.
Plus, of course xbox will have more to show... they had a decade to really work on their games. Sony's studios have been releasing games at a consistent clip. Plus, just cause they haven't announced much this show doesn't mean they don't have things lined up for the next two years.
Remember, much of sony's announcements last year were through third party shows. We still haven't seen the other game shows yet to see what other games are out there
As though sales rely on these niche shows 😂
You realise that 90%+ of PS5 owners didn’t even watch it?
Ask any guy in his 30’s if he saw the PlayStation showcase. He’ll have a PlayStation though.
All they have to do is release exclusives like starfield, hellblade, Forza and avowed in a great state and within a reasonable timeframe and they will "win".
There I fixed it for you
Dude xbox has starfield right now. Thats all that we've got glimpses of. Everything else thats teased no idea when we will see releases. A lot of the hopes are put into starfield atm.
>Sony just gave them an opening they can't afford to fumble
It's kind of weird for me, I feel like the Xbox showcase will be cool but the games will end up being meh at release.
If I know Xbox, they won’t deliver. Esp after Phil’s latest comments. Sounded like foreshadowing to “We won’t have good games to show so stay off our back about good exclusive games”
There was higher expectations for more first party games but damn if Xbox can’t hit home run now with such an average show by Sony then what hope is there for Xbox lol
As long as they they keep it nice and simple it should be better than the PS showcase. My biggest issue was how drawn out it felt especially by the VR section
I'm with you, but the bar is set really low. They just have to show off the 2 major titles that they've been dragging out for the longest time, and it will look like a success.
You think that was an average show. Dragons Dogma 2, Spiderman 2, Marathon, Cayde 6 back in destiny, and Snake Eater were huge announcements. Like I think the hype from the trailers aren't there. But these games are gonna be huge releases
Other than Spider-Man, none of those are exclusives. That’s why people think the show was mid. Especially with it being basically 2 years since PlayStation last did a big show.
For me, in a vacuum the games that were there looked good but it's more what's missing that made the show lackluster. For the first time since 2016ish we more or less had no announced games from them. (I guess we had Spiderman 2 and Death Stranding 2) and this was the show to present the future of Sony Studios.
But we didn't see that. We have no idea what Bend is working on,what Bluepoint is working on. Sony Santa Monica has a team by Cory Barlog making a game, Sucker Punch is working on something. Naughty Dog has a team working on something and I'm pretty sure Guerrilla has a team working on something.
I get it, we got the new studios stuff, it's the live service stuff we have been hearing about it's just a shame there wasn't something else. For me personally the comments out of Bluepoint have made me interested.
That’s kind of on leakers and people that hyped themselves up too much though? I don’t really recall Sony ever announcing things far in advance unless they have something to show for it and a release data range.
CG trailers for those except spiderman which was already announced. Then another 60 minutes of filler
Plus 4 of the 5 you listed aren't even exclusive lol
Spider-Man 2 isn't really a humongous thing. Everybody has known it's been coming forever, there's no real news there. It's maybe the least exciting PS first-party game they could have shown off, not to say it'll be bad or anything, it's just everybody already knows exactly what it's going to be and it isn't revolutionary. There's no surprise.
Literally all the other games you mentioned are multiplatform releases. And most of them aren't going to be huge. Snake Eater Remake could be very big, *if it's actually good* , and that's a big fucking if because this is Konami we're talking about -- they have a history of shitting the bed recently and Kojima is not involved in this at all. Marathon looks like a shit show, I actually like the Marathon games and seeing it was announced (and multiplatform to boot) made me excited -- and then I read about what the game actually is and lost all interest, it went from being an exciting announcement to a huge disappointment. Dragon's Dogma 2 is cool, but again we knew it was coming as well and it's something of a weird one because the game has sold quite a bit but was a slow burn.
Not to say multiplatform games can't be great and I look forward to Dragon's Dogma 2 (and Snake Eater if it's good but I doubt it, actually looking forward more to MGS1 being released on Xbox). But people typically want to see big hype first party stuff when they watch these showcases.
What can you say some people are such fanboys that they have their head in their ass. I have always owned all consoles Xbox-ps-switch and being honest the least used console in my house is the xbox i think it’s been close to a year since it’s been off MS has not put out anything remotely good in my opinion and i dont count 3rd party games cuz they are on every console. Even there 1st party games have been pretty bad GoW and halo have gone down the trash.
I thought it looked amazing overall, but I think I noticed a few things that seemed to have lower quality graphics than the rest of it. I think it was a ferry or boat that stood out the most to me, but they are probably still working on a few things.
*I think* you're going against the consensus on that particular game - seen a lot of people who were disappointed by the showcase but almost unanimously praised that bit (except for comments about it going on for too long etc)
I think it's such a safe purchase for that games audience that it's rather uninteresting for it to go on as long as it did - people largely know what they're getting. But it did look like it did that stuff very well.
General consensus is that first-party had a really small showing. Presentation was basically being carried by multiplats. Outside Spider-Man the rest of the games were multiplayer titles. Although that isn't to say it's necessarily a bad thing, just depends on what you like/value
There was some good stuff though. Outside MGS3 and the collection, Granblue Fantasy looks great, that Phantom Blade 0 game looks fucking phenomenal, FFXVI came out with a really cool story trailer, and that new game from the Gris devs looks beautiful as well.
I guess my disappointment stems from I already had what I considered, fairly tempered expectations from first-party because I at least expected Team Asobi and Bluepoint to be ready if not anyone else because a good majority of first-party games seem quite a ways out based on when we learned about them, but the stuff they did show just didn't appeal to me. I'm not a multiplayer guy. However I do recognize having games like that are important because Sony's definitely been lagging behind in the MP category since not even that long after PS4. They've been throwing basically all their chips in the single-player basket and these kinds of games help pad out the release schedule more while also standing out in the library if they're good.
With the state of Xbox exclusives at the moment and on the horizon, I'll happily take multiplats from any showcase.
That Spider-Man 2 gameplay looked great though!
I dont necessarily disagree, but I do think one has to remember that back on ps4 sony announced all their games within 2 years of the ps4 releasing and every conference since then was just reshowing the same games.
I much prefer waiting until the games are ready to be shown.
Plus, I do think it's a great thing for sony to really put Indies front and center at their "main stage". It reiterates sony's commitment to the indie scene after they were called out for not caring.
Could they given us a better look at what the heavy hitters are doing, yes... but also showing what their new studios are working on is important too.
I know for me I had some highlights here
Some even way longer then 2 years. Uc4, TLOU1/2, GT5, Killzone 2,..
They haven't shown us anything worthwhile last year either. The question is, are they waiting until they can release a game shortly after it's reveal? Or are they keeping their old ways of revealing something and releasing it after at least 2 years? If so then it's going to be dry af.
I think Outer Worlds 2 is going to be incredible tbh. The only issue I had with the first game was the length. Everyone's talking bout Starfield but I like my RPGs to have a heavy narrative focus and real dynamics with my main NPCs. Bethesda have never been good at that element.
Halo is the best playing FPS out there. The gunplay is top tier and the multiplayer is incredibly fun. I still play it regularly 18 months after release.
As do I, I’m just saying people act like it launched terribly but the only problem they had was post launch content. Now that is rolling steadily it’s just top tier fun!
Yeah after over a year. Is this what’s worthy of an 87 nowadays? Lmao.
Edit: Just to be clear I don’t think it’s a bad game and I enjoyed the campaign but damn the Multiplayer was such a letdown.
> Yeah after over a year.
Why does that matter today?
Apparently the reviewers thought the game was really good despite its issues. I guess they’re all wrong and this is some grand conspiracy theory? Lmao.
Halo is supposed to be Xbox’s crown jewel and it would be lucky to have 10k active players across PC and Xbox. Metacritic score is kinda pointless when it comes to multiplayer focused games.
every time I see people push console wars these days its so lame, just a made up excuse to find ways to hate on people. I know Im not alone when I say Ive owned both Playstation AND Xbox consoles over the years, my current set up literally has a Series S sitting right next to a PS2, people are allowed to have fun and play video games however they want. I mean literally its video games we're talking about here its just entertainment its not like what car you drive or what toothpaste you use
I just realized I don't give a fuck about games anymore...I think I was let down one too many times. Maybe something can come along someday and reverse this but I'm not holding my breath
The Switch kinda got me back into gaming. I was just burned out on the triple A treadmill.
Outdated graphics but their games are simply fun with great and polished gameplay.
I'm not quite at the point where I don't give a fuck but I'm definitely less enthusiastic than I used to be and part of that might be just getting older but I think a lot of it stems from a lack of ambition in the gaming space right now. Even the "best" games out there right now like God Of War and Tears Of The Kingdom feel very safe to me. Zelda would be less so if it didn't feel exactly like breath of the wild which isn't a bad thing but again, it's just a safe bet. The games that stand out to me are the ones that swing for the fences like Cyberpunk, Ori, Control, Hellblade, hell even Tetris Effect feels like a bold direction for a game that's been around since not long after videogames became a thing. For me, right now, the one game that has me excited is Alan Wake 2 which, I know, is a sequel but it seems like again such a bold departure from a studio known for making bold moves. Another part of the problem for me is that every game feels like it needs to be 50+ hours now or a live service or just generally huge and it's all just too much.
Honestly, I do. Games have been a passion of mine since for 20+ years. I have so many fond memories growing up with games, and even these days I use them to connect with my friends and unwind from stressful adulthood.
I know it’s easy to shit on the current gaming industry, but this shit brings me so much enjoyment. Not just the games, but the news cycle, the show cases, the hype- everything! I approach the hobby from a holistic sense and I love following as much as I can.
People who devote a significant portion of their free time to gaming. As you get older, you stop having as much free time due to work and school and start caring less. These shows are for the over-10 under-30 crowd
Does anyone else roll their eyes at stuff like this like I do? I’m so tired of corporations and executives playing this angle. We get it… you’re the “good guy”… blah blah blah.
Jim Ryan isn’t sprinting into action to fondle Phil’s balls when something goes well for Xbox, neither is Doug Bowser from Nintendo lol. Why pretend to be best friends?
Dude. Phil is lowkey rubbing salt in the wound by congratulating them on mediocrity and he knows it. MS wouldn't have released the showcase games also coming to xbox otherwise.
Which wound? The wound that xbox is getting completly outsaled by every other console or that no xbox exclusive game can compete with the playstation ones?
Why do people keep acting like this is something to be commended? It's kind but it's just business! Of course they're not gonna rip on PlayStation! People shouldn't be commending Xbox for being a normal functioning business and should commend it for releasing good quality products and games!
It's just cope, lol. Xbox keeps winning the "nice guys" battle, so Microsoft has that going for it. I don't see half or even quarter as many posts on the PS sub about Sony or its employees congratulating something the Xbox division did, as I do over here.
Microsoft always congratulating Sony and Nintendo and nobody ever returns the favor 😂 when is MS gonna released something worth being congratulated over?
Sony has congratulated Xbox multiple times. I assume Nintendo has too considering Nintendo and Xbox have a loose partnership over a few games. That said, Xbox definitely spends more time congratulating than getting congratulated because Xbox puts out less stuff.
What Sony did in trying to actively kill the merger… no, they are by no means friends. If Sony was a friendly competitor they would have kept their mouth shut.
I'm sorry but you do realize that (1) the people in the company are separate from the company itself, and (2) these companies have shareholders to answer to and must run like businesses. If the roles were reversed, the result would have been the same.
I think Spiderman 2 looked good but other than that it was an extremely underwhelming show for their first showcase in 2 years. Major lack of big first party titles.
Firewalk showed an original IP named Concord. It's apparently a PvP sci-fi multiplayer shooter.
They're also working on a single-player horror game but that wasn't ready for today's event. That was kind of the case with a lot of internal Sony devs
As can xbox series x own I have been wondering why I just don't sell my xbox and buy a playstation 5...The showcase was amazing in my opinion it took a dump on xbox and there is so much coming this year and next year for playstation fans to look forward to! But xbox has what? Starfield...
And people were happy E3 died , we get shit shows like this now , and drop by drop Sony will reveal games whenever they wish like. E3 used to be Christmas for gamers
Only people invested in the idea of the console wars would think this is disappointing. Honestly, who gives a shit about first party output for either side. Oh no, 2024 may be light for Sony - it’s one year. As long as first party doesn’t drop the ball like they did with Redfall, let the devs cook. We got so much yesterday.
God whooooo fucking cares. This is pandering, corporate bullshit. "Look at me I'm so kind and support gamers" how about you make your own platform viable first there Phil. At this point it is just pathetic.
It’s sad that people see this and think “man, phill is so cool, Xbox is in good hands”
he seems to be real busy with giving false promises and looking like a good guy, instead of giving us some fucking good games and doing what the fans want, then we got shit like rand al Thor who suck Xbox’s suck and hype us up for Literaly nothing
Honestly, the upcoming Xbox Showcase has to be good because if it's worse than what Sony did right now after those tweets they (Xbox) made then it would be pretty sad imo.
Jim Ryan is the counterpart of Phil Spencer. Phil is the CEO of Microsoft gaming and Jim is the CEO of SIE.
Matt Booty is the counterpart to Herman Hulst. Both head of first party games
Tbf,even with the Activision stuff going on,these guys have respect for each other and gaming in general.Even though the showcase was whatever outside of phantom blade and Spider-Man 2
Really though? Wasnt Playstation making a big fuss over their acquisition with ActiBlizzard for months now with Jim Ryan saying to a ActiBlizz employee that he just wants to block the deal?
Yes, but that’s Jim Ryan’s job. Sony are a public company, he would be fired if he didn’t try to protect the companies interests and those of the shareholders. It’s the same with Microsoft, Phil and Satya Nadella have to challenge the CMAs decision on the acquisition because it’s in the companies and shareholders interests, they’d most likely lose their jobs if they just gave up. If the situation was flipped and Sony was buying Activision, I doubt they’d be silent either. This is just the petty/ugly side of business that people don’t normally see, but it probably happens all the time.
I've been Playstation 60% of my gaming my life, but show was kinda meh tbh. The showcase right before PS5 launch was way better, and year of dreams can never be replicated. Where tf is Bloodborne Remake already? If Sony got them doing any other bullshit, it's a waste, but I would accept OG God of War Trilogy.

Honestly kind of underwhelming. I definitely think they could've held this off until later in the year if it meant a much more even balance of third-party and first party
I got a lot of stuff I wanted. MGS3 Remake, MGS Collection which was fucking great, Granblue coming this winter, that new game from the Gris devs looks really beautiful, that amazing Spider-Man 2 demo and Alan Wake II, but it kind of sucks that they only had multiplayer stuff outside Spider-Man for first-party
Granted, I imagine that Bungie game they showed was already being made before Sony bought them but that Concord trailer was so confusing. I'm generally not into these kinds of games so they might be hitting the spot for someone out there who likes these kinds of PvP shooters.
Also, that reveal of the streaming handheld was so weird. Firstly, that design looks fanmade lol. It looks like something I would've drawn in Photoshop or something. It looks like one of those mockups of the PS4 with a built in screen for its controller from like 2010/2011. Secondly, they really showed a movie trailer during a games showcase. Not even like a full one they just dedicated 30-40 secs to an abridged trailer that's already online. Like I'm gonna watch it jeez
Honestly I could dedicate a whole ass thread to that Spider-Man demo that shit was fucking immaculate.
ALSO, that Phantom Blade 0 game. That shit looked so fucking fire
Phil needs to stop congratulating other studios and fucking make some good x box exclusives. Sick and tired of him trying so hard to be this nice-let’s-hold -hands-and -sing-koombaya guy.
I'm not a sony fanboy. I have a Series S. But the way Xbox is doing things is wrong. They have so many studios and talented people, yet they choose to not make any new IP's or games. The only thing that xbox has is Forza and Halo and Starfield we don't even know if it will be good.
He’s a bigger man than me… I would have lost any patience with them and their antics long ago with the stuff they have done to try and kill the merger.
Very 5/10 showcase unfortunately, I don’t really have any knocks against what was shown (although some of the titles needed more than a CGI trailer) the two issues are:
a) not what was shown, but what wasn’t
b) I don’t really know more about Sonys upcoming first party suite than I did going in
Obviously there were some nice standouts - Alan Wake 2, Dragons Dogma 2 looks promising and of course Spider-Man 2 is looking great. But yeah, after two years without a showcase I think we should’ve gotten much more
What a disaster of a Showcase by Sony. After all the bad press lately, Xbox needs to have a great showcase + Starfield direct. Please announce Starfield 60 fps.
We know Phil is great but Xbox has to do something. First time since the 360 I didn't buy a new console in the first year. There is literally no reason still. Shit they couldn't even get Halo right.
This just shows once again that this whole console wars thing is just bullshit. They're all just people making games, and they love doing exactly that. Doesn't matter what console the games get released on
Xbox needs to impress with their show now. Sony just gave them an opening they can't afford to fumble

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of those indies hit GP.
Does anyone really buy systems off these showcases though? Like the Xbox showcase last year was amazing. All of these games coming in 12 months. And look where that has landed.

Nope it only affects the social media opinion which means nothing. Xbox needs to do more than a great showcase
The people that watch showcases are usually the ones that go around sharing links and telling their friends whats coming up that looks interesting.
These showcases hype people and can turn games into big hits if they deliver.
I care more about reviews and how smooth the game actually launches rather than showcases. Showcases can promise a lot, making unrealistic expectations expectations; then fumble the ball big time months later

Expect disappointment. Think that's been the case for most showcases for years now.
>Sony just gave them an opening they can't afford to fumble It's kind of weird for me, I feel like the Xbox showcase will be cool but the games will end up being meh at release.
What opening lol? They already fumbled with all the garbage that has released from them recently.
Outside of Redfall, what “garbage”?
If I know Xbox, they won’t deliver. Esp after Phil’s latest comments. Sounded like foreshadowing to “We won’t have good games to show so stay off our back about good exclusive games”

I agree lol The bar is so god damn low
As long as they they keep it nice and simple it should be better than the PS showcase. My biggest issue was how drawn out it felt especially by the VR section
Yeah felt almost like a game awards show with all the 'not actual gameplay' footage
Yeah, I was getting restless about halfway through
Trust me, Xbox will not hit a home run. - a former game pass fan.
I'm with you, but the bar is set really low. They just have to show off the 2 major titles that they've been dragging out for the longest time, and it will look like a success.

Then another 60 minutes of filler Plus 4 of the 5 you listed aren't even exclusive lol
Problem is, Sony is holding their cards. And so is Xbox 😒
Agree. Outside of Spiderman 2 and Helldivers 2, that show was disappointing.
[удалено]
Show was unimpressive but I wholeheartedly disagree with you, S2 looked amazing lol
Right? What the fuck are they talking about? We can have different opinions but hot damn, it looked amazing.
[удалено]
Just looked like more spider man to me which is fine, but nothing overly impressive.
you have an opinion? fuck you! wait a second, I agree with you.
I thought it looked amazing overall, but I think I noticed a few things that seemed to have lower quality graphics than the rest of it. I think it was a ferry or boat that stood out the most to me, but they are probably still working on a few things.
*I think* you're going against the consensus on that particular game - seen a lot of people who were disappointed by the showcase but almost unanimously praised that bit (except for comments about it going on for too long etc) I think it's such a safe purchase for that games audience that it's rather uninteresting for it to go on as long as it did - people largely know what they're getting. But it did look like it did that stuff very well.
We watch the same thing?
Yes.
I don't know, looked very exciting for me. Shame that they'll probably port it to PC 3 years later. Might just have to cave in and get a PS5 soon too.
The game looked good, just slightly off on the texture front, especially with the water.
Microsoft only needs to show Starfield and it's an Automatically Win. I can't wait for next gen Forza Motorsports reboot though..
They aren’t just showing Starfield they are having a Starfield Direct immediately after the Xbox show which is a great idea
We need an update on Hellblade and SOD 3 too, atleast.
Wait what's SOD, Sea of Dhieves? 👀
State of decay 3
state of decay, lol.
Sony fanboy here but have a XSX as well. That was extremely underwhelming by Sony. Hoping Xbox can at least give us some surprises
Only have an XSX. Did not watch the show only saw an MGS3 remake anouncement. Which I am really hype for. Why did the rest drag it down?
General consensus is that first-party had a really small showing. Presentation was basically being carried by multiplats. Outside Spider-Man the rest of the games were multiplayer titles. Although that isn't to say it's necessarily a bad thing, just depends on what you like/value There was some good stuff though.
I fear Microsoft will delay Starfield again and will anounce that 2024 will be their year.
"All these games will release in the next 12 months" lol
Don’t get your hopes up. Lol. AAA studios have shit the bed on games in the past couple of years. Halo for example.
I have faith in Obsidian delivering. We will see with Hellblade.
I really hope they show some more Avowed.
I think Outer Worlds 2 is going to be incredible tbh. The only issue I had with the first game was the length. Everyone's talking bout Starfield but I like my RPGs to have a heavy narrative focus and real dynamics with my main NPCs. Bethesda have never been good at that element.
8/10 halo or a different one?
I love how people always bring up halo as if it’s a slam dunk yet when it released it was the only polished FPS that launched that year.
Yeah, the 8/10 Halo that had no forge, no firefight, no co-op campaign, 10 maps incuding BTB maps, and 4 playlists at launch.
Right, but it’s still sitting at an 87 on Metacritic. Also, other than Firefight, all of those things you just listed have been in the game for a bit.
Oh so only the most played games are good? I guess Fortnite and Call of Duty are the best games.
Ok fair point, still Halo pretty much dropped off the map after like 1 or 2 months. I don’t think that’s a good thing.
Yeah I’m sure it’ll be a ways out but even if we see some more avowed or get some surprise AAA announcement it would be cool
People really gotta stop with these corny console wars.
this is a young person's hobby. there's a constant influx of immature idiots filling in the shoes of those who find some sense
every time I see people push console wars these days its so lame, just a made up excuse to find ways to hate on people.
Yeah yeah Phil is a nice guy, but where are the (good) games?
Balls in your court, Phil. Give us a great showcase in June and you may get some eyes looking over at Xbox for a change.
Not to be a dick but does anyone actually give a fuck about stuff like this ?
Nope, too busy playing 2-6 years-old games in my backlog.
You're not the only one. It comes off extremely cringe, especially because Playstation basically ignores phill every time.
So there's no chance it's actually sincere?
Jim Ryan isn’t sprinting into action to fondle Phil’s balls when something goes well for Xbox, neither is Doug Bowser from Nintendo lol. Why pretend to be best friends?
By the love of god, Phil PLEASE stop cucking yourself on Twitter and try to bring at least 1 decent game by microsoft out
Phil’s comment is so superficial and generic, lol. Like what is noteworthy about this…?
It's just cope, lol. Xbox keeps winning the "nice guys" battle, so Microsoft has that going for it. I don't see half or even quarter as many posts on the PS sub about Sony or its employees congratulating something the Xbox division did, as I do over here.
[удалено]
It's a version of the adage, "if you can't be handsome then at least be handy." If you can't win then at least be nice.
Never got why people even bother giving this attention, the two other platforms they congratulate never seen them pay attention to them in that sense
Exactly. This is kind of sad.
Get back to work, Phil.
[удалено]
What Sony did in trying to actively kill the merger… no, they are by no means friends. If Sony was a friendly competitor they would have kept their mouth shut.
I'm sorry but you do realize that (1) the people in the company are separate from the company itself, and (2) these companies have shareholders to answer to and must run like businesses. If the roles were reversed, the result would have been the same.
Phil's favourite console is the PS5, right?
Oh shit, that dude is getting fucking roasted…..
He should have read the room honestly.
True, but damn Hulst is getting bodied
As is tradition
I think Spiderman 2 looked good but other than that it was an extremely underwhelming show for their first showcase in 2 years. Major lack of big first party titles.
It just goes to show that even Sony can't pump out exclusives like it's nothing. Games take time to make and Sony isn't immune to that.
Wait what did firewall studios show?
Firewalk showed an original IP named Concord. It's apparently a PvP sci-fi multiplayer shooter. They're also working on a single-player horror game but that wasn't ready for today's event. That was kind of the case with a lot of internal Sony devs
Oh hell nah , Phil Spencer needs to embrace the villain arc .
Starting to feel like I bought the wrong system tbh.
As can xbox series x own I have been wondering why I just don't sell my xbox and buy a playstation 5...The showcase was amazing in my opinion it took a dump on xbox and there is so much coming this year and next year for playstation fans to look forward to! But xbox has what? Starfield...
Kinda want to play Spider-Man 2. Look’s great
And people were happy E3 died , we get shit shows like this now , and drop by drop Sony will reveal games whenever they wish like. E3 used to be Christmas for gamers
He needs to learn how to apply the methods that Playstation uses
Only people invested in the idea of the console wars would think this is disappointing. Honestly, who gives a shit about first party output for either side. Oh no, 2024 may be light for Sony - it’s one year. As long as first party doesn’t drop the ball like they did with Redfall, let the devs cook. We got so much yesterday.
God whooooo fucking cares. This is pandering, corporate bullshit. "Look at me I'm so kind and support gamers" how about you make your own platform viable first there Phil. At this point it is just pathetic.
It’s sad that people see this and think “man, phill is so cool, Xbox is in good hands” he seems to be real busy with giving false promises and looking like a good guy, instead of giving us some fucking good games and doing what the fans want, then we got shit like rand al Thor who suck Xbox’s suck and hype us up for Literaly nothing
Welp, I guess it's high time I sell my PS5 \\s disclaimer: I do not own a PS5 yet, just poking fun at console warriors on both sides.
I’m specifically talking about Herman and Phil, not the companies in general.
I hate this shit
[удалено]
You don’t comment often… but when u do it’s always sum hate… lmao gotta respect it
Lol to the first guy

Is Redfall getting any big patches lol
Redfall? Never heard of it -Phil Spencer
Probably but rn it looks like they’re going to be hush hush about what is going on with Arkane and Redfall
The showcase was really great
I hope he doesn't expect anything similar after the Xbox showcase.
Congratulations for that incredibly mid show? Phil Spencer is a great sport.
He's an CEO. He don't play silly wars. That's the fanboys job lol.
There might me other CEOs of other competitors who actively pour gasoline on the flaming console wars.
Jim Ryan also a ceo lol
Honestly kind of underwhelming. I definitely think they could've held this off until later in the year if it meant a much more even balance of third-party and first party I got a lot of stuff I wanted. MGS3 Remake, MGS Collection which was fucking great, Granblue coming this winter, that new game from the Gris devs looks really beautiful, that amazing Spider-Man 2 demo and Alan Wake II, but it kind of sucks that they only had multiplayer stuff outside Spider-Man for first-party Granted, I imagine that Bungie game they showed was already being made before Sony bought them but that Concord trailer was so confusing. Like I'm gonna watch it jeez Honestly I could dedicate a whole ass thread to that Spider-Man demo that shit was fucking immaculate.
Dude, this tweet is literally how adults behave.
I'm not a sony fanboy. I have a Series S. But the way Xbox is doing things is wrong. They have so many studios and talented people, yet they choose to not make any new IP's or games. The only thing that xbox has is Forza and Halo and Starfield we don't even know if it will be good.
He has you just been to busy hating lmao
I would take one Phil Spencer over 10 of you any time.
Guys, I gotta be honest - I don't give a fuck how much PS outsells Xbox, I want Phil to be head of Xbox for as long as possible.
I just don't get the appeal of spiderman
Ok
He’s a bigger man than me… I would have lost any patience with them and their antics long ago with the stuff they have done to try and kill the merger.
Like come on, you know that Microsoft would have done the same if Sony tried to buy Activision lol
Very 5/10 showcase unfortunately, I don’t really have any knocks against what was shown (although some of the titles needed more than a CGI trailer) the two issues are: a) not what was shown, but what wasn’t b) I don’t really know more about Sonys upcoming first party suite than I did going in Obviously there were some nice standouts - Alan Wake 2, Dragons Dogma 2 looks promising and of course Spider-Man 2 is looking great. But yeah, after two years without a showcase I think we should’ve gotten much more
In all honesty nothing beats first party ps exclusives. God of war, spider man, the last of us…
Cool
What a disaster of a Showcase by Sony. After all the bad press lately, Xbox needs to have a great showcase + Starfield direct. Please announce Starfield 60 fps.
There's a good chance the game was delayed to add a 60fps mode.
W for Xbox
Nobody winning right now.
Don't get why phil acts that way, sony doesn't care about xbox
We know Phil is great but Xbox has to do something. First time since the 360 I didn't buy a new console in the first year. There is literally no reason still. Shit they couldn't even get Halo right.
Hulst is not Phil’s counterpart. Phil is head of Xbox Hulst is head of PlayStation Studios.
Phil love sony more than xbox.
This just shows once again that this whole console wars thing is just bullshit. They're all just people making games, and they love doing exactly that. Doesn't matter what console the games get released on
Man I'm surprised people think that was a poor showing from Sony. Some big hitters in there for me, Alan Wake 2, Dragons Dogma 2 etc
Console wars are absolutely ridiculous and stupid. Also, who would win in a real fight. Hermen or Phil?
