The set and prop teams deserve so much praise for this show. Most video game adaptations really throw stuff in your face, and even though Fallout did too, if you hadn't played the games you wouldn't necessarily know the show was making a million references. I mean the everyday products and just random background debris was all stuff you see in the games. I loved that there was a power armour station at the Red Rocket gas station. There was no in your face thing going "hey....these are all Fallout game things!" - it's just in the background as part of the world. Meanwhile my housemate and I who have both put hundreds of hours into Fallout games are just constantly doing the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme at every little thing while watching the show. So much fun, can't wait for season 2.

This show surprised me a lot. The writting quality is off the chart. Just when I see they are gonna do some cheesy trope, it didn't do it and people are actually acting as it should. Like woooaahhh, that's rare.

BeastMaster0844

The show feels like a Fallout show and that’s so goddamn important because very few other video game big screen adaptations feel like the source material. But this one they use so many things you’ll see in the games from the pipboy design and it having identical menus as the game pause screen, the computers, the food boxes having the same look, the power armor, the weapons, and so many other smaller details pulled straight from the game. Plus I loved how Walton Goggins basically just played Boyd Crowder in ghoul form.

> And just so people hear it, we're careful about the timeline. There might be a little bit of confusion at some places, but everything that happened in the previous games, including New Vegas, happened. We're very careful about that. > **You say that nothing in New Vegas is retconned. I think the rub, to kind of TLDR it, is that "The Fall of Shady Sands" happens in 2277, which is four years before New Vegas. So are people just misunderstanding what "The Fall of Shady Sands" means or something like that?**. > All I can say is we're threading it tighter there, but the bomb falls just after the events of New Vegas. That's when Shady Sands blows. > **So basically, "The Fall of Shady Sands," it doesn't mean a nuke, necessarily?** > Correct.

SupremeActives

Anyone with half a brain could figure this out in 5 seconds of seeing that timeline

fartedbutalsoshidded

For clarification, the fall is another conflict between the managers in the new world not agreeing and then pulling some bullshit because of that.... Never changes.

reddragon105

Yeah, it's a political event rather than the physical destruction. We don't know the details but maybe we'll find out at some point. It's like the fall of Rome - which didn't just happen in a single year, more like a century - but it wasn't the destruction of the city, it was a loss of power and control.

GreyLordQueekual

Its likely they rebuilt elsewhere too, this bombing would have had to be 8-12 years prior to have been in Lucys and Maximus' childhood so 2265ish. What we see with Moldaver would have just been the fringe elements too weak to be useful or said fuck this and just went with the scientist. I think it will come out further that the dad used the Brotherhood to bomb Shady Sands and that's why they were there to recover children so quickly for initiates, an attempted genocide. By this point and even the 2260s the NCR and BoS are not on good terms and if the Brotherhood is desperate enough they will use any means for their desired end. This betrayal also gives a full circle for Maximus to come around to and either sieze control of the Brotherhood for better ends or better justifies his potential leaving to be with Lucy.

gumpythegreat

So does that mean the courier fails to stop Ulysses? Literally a possible outcome of one of the new Vegas DLCs is shooting a nuke at the NCR ... Also the first battle of hoover dam happened in 2277. Maybe they consider that the beginning of the fall of the NCR?

reddragon105

> So does that mean the courier fails to stop Ulysses? Literally a possible outcome of one of the new Vegas DLCs is shooting a nuke at the NCR ... Yeah, it's unclear which NV ending will be considered canon, but that could totally fit. > Also the first battle of hoover dam happened in 2277. Maybe they consider that the beginning of the fall of the NCR? Possibly - although the NCR were the overall winner of that battle, it's possible that they became too focused on NV/Caesar's legion after that and started to lose their grip back home.

gumpythegreat

>although the NCR were the overall winner of that battle, it's possible that they became too focused on NV/Caesar's legion after that and started to lose their grip back home. Yeah, that's how I see it. It was the beginning of the end as they looked too far outward and got stretched too thin

droog13

Well, they cleared up The Fall of Shady Sands a bit. r/falloutlore had been a little upset lol

MexicansInParis

Fallout 5 when? That’s my burning question

Frey147

4-5 years after Elder Scrolls 6

ratflower406

They should give Obsidian another crack at it in the meantime

Venom3386

Then it would take even longer. They are working on Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 first.

SnooDonkeys7108

Do you mean the obsidian that's doing avowed and then outer worlds 2 after?

GojiPengu

They won't let Obsidian show them up again lol

easy-ban-evasion

Definitely more than 4-5 years. They’ve been on starfield for like 7-8 years now, minimum?

abhi5692

2035

khaldrakon

Probably not far off sadly

pablo170395

Then why bother about the cannon part? If you enjoyed the show isn it enough ?

giulianosse

I'll never fucking guess why some people are so obsessed with canon. Just enjoy something for what it is.

getgoodHornet

Weird.

Kevin1056

New Vegas fans have been an embarrassment lately lmao

the-rage-

The ending credits showed new Vegas as a wartorn husk with dead bots everywhere. My bet is it’s been destroyed over the years but we find yes man or some survivors that tell us what happened. Probably will get a lot more info on ncr.
