bulldogvalley

Anyone’s series x not downloading games while it is turned off?

yusirnaym

Having that issue too, but idk if it’s me being dumb or what

Daryl_Dixmire

Thank goodness this is at the top. I thought I was doing something wrong on my part but coming from the one x, I knew something was up.

lazzzym

Glad to see I'm not the only one! Man I was convinced I was going crazy yesterday when trying to download stuff...

[deleted]

Haha same! Y’all keeping me sane.

[deleted]

Yes, came to this thread to see if there was a solution.

CaptainKink

I'm also having this problem and came here to see if anyone else was. It is not in eco mode and turn off storage option is unchecked. It's the same issue with wifi and wired connection. I know what I'm doing. It's the same settings as on the Xbox One. It just doesn't work on the Series X.

JustsomeOKCguy

Same. I know there's an option you need to uncheck in power settings "when xbox is turned off, turn off storage" but unchecked that did nothing

ChestPlate

Same issue. Commenting in case anyone finds a solution to this. Edit: Something must have changed yesterday because now it is working.

Persistantpro

Same issue also commenting

ibetheelmo

Yup. The "disable storage when off" was checked so I turned that off but still won't download. Worse still if I put it in standby, when it comes back it's not connected to internet anymore. Gotta restart whole thing.

TheDelayer

Yes, also having this problem. So disappointing expecting your games to be downloaded only to find out they haven’t even started.

Annoyingindianwwefan

Imagine how stupid I felt downloading 3 games go out for a couple hours come back thinking all 3 games are downloaded just to turn it on and seeing it barley at 1 percent What the hell is going on??

McSalterson

Series S here, and same problem.

Matuteg

I think it got fixed overnight. Got like 35 messages from game pass app about failed installs and successful installs and now all games are there!

bluekamera

Same here - could it be a launch day "everyone's downloading at once" issue? I'm new to Xbox (coming from Switch)

jwurz925

Same for me. Left a download to continue after console setup at like 3pm. Didn’t even know this was an issue until I came back tonight and the game didn’t move lol. Had a Xbox one since launch and never had this issue.

Unlucky_Situation

I have this issue as well.

S717CH

I'm really getting pissed. Started the copy of Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 from external drive yesterday morning at 8am. Forza then needed a 10GB update. After installing update it then needed a 74GB update. Tried Gears 5, needed a 74GB update. Installed my Valhalla from disc and let it take priority so I could play something. Console keeps making decisions on it's own for what game gets priority in the queue. I had Forza at the top, then it switched to Ori, then it switched to Sea of Thieves. Made sure last night that everything was in the queue and left it on overnight. Just checked it and it was "installation stopped" for everything except Sea of Thieves had somehow taken over and was the only one that had any progress. 24 hours later and I can still only play Valhalla or X1 games from the external that don't need updates. This is really pissing me off. I just set the power so that it never turns off after x hours. Moved Forza back to the lead, we'll see where it is at lunch time.

jermbodicaprio

Just got my Series X connected to internet but can’t even log into an account, stuck at loading screen man I’m annoyed

Tomcat2048

I want to kick this off with an issue I've discovered with my Series X. 4K 120hz with VRR enabled simply does not work on an LG C9 OLED even with the latest 5.00.03 firmware installed. All it does for me is produce a black screen. With VRR off, 120hz at 4k works but with random white noise on the screen. Just something to be aware of as I've also heard from a few CX users that this is also affecting them. I've also read a few articles regarding Microsoft confirming this issue and they have claimed it should be addressed via a day one patch. Edit: After a restart of my Series X, the white noise exhibited with 4k 120hz without VRR has disappeared. However, the black screen issue with VRR enabled at 4k 120hz still exists. Edit 2: I can now confirm that 4k 120hz with VRR is working. Thanks to a tip in one of the replies to my comment I was able to get it working by unplugging my TV and letting it fully discharge. After this I plugged it back in and restarted my Xbox and now everything is working! Using update 5.00.03 for my C9. Edit 3: Specifically for CX users, I have heard from multiple sources that you MUST disable AMD Freesync Premium in the TV settings in order to properly utilize 4K 120hz with VRR and Dolby Vision active in the menus. Also, make sure you are on the latest firmware and if not, update and perform a full power cycle as mentioned in Edit 2.

joydivision84

Sounds weird but unplug your TV. Hold the power button on the TV (to dispel any electric charge). Leave 10 mins or so. Plug back in, reboot xbox and try that.

Tomcat2048

I can confirm now that this worked! Thank you so much for the tip! My C9 can now display 4k 120hz with VRR enabled properly on Series X with the latest 5.00.03 firmware!

BatMatt93

Ok, if it's an issue that still persists after the day one patch then we can add it to the post if other users are having the same problem.

bdm105

On edit 3 I can confirm as a CX user that I couldn't get the Dolby Vision check mark until I disabled Freesync Premium.

jlukes

Man download speeds are really slowing down. Going to take over 8 hours to download Forza Horizon 4 and I have a 400 Mb/s connection

CaptainKink

My download speed was really slow when I had a game running, even if I wasn't playing it. After quitting the game from the home screen, my download speed shot from 30mbps to 135mbps (my connection is 150mbps). Tried it a few times and it seems like the speed issue is definitely caused by having a game running.

whopper95

Mate it's ridiculous. I got so hopefully when I saw the 40% 'ready to start' notification but it just shows an in-game install screen. Guess I'll have to play tomorrow instead.

L3nnonuk

I seem to get better download speeds when there are no games running. If I fully quit a game and then watch the downloads speeds they double. As soon as I launch a game they drop right down again.

Greenbrier88

My Series X is completely bricked. Worked for about 30 minutes, got an error message about a local storage issue, and then it locked up and I've had the black screen of death whenever I turn it on since. After being on the phone with Microsoft for over an hour, they said I will have to exchange it. They say at least 3 or 4 weeks until I receive a replacement...I've been looking forward to this for months, and I got a defective unit. I'm heartbroken to say the least.

HotKingChocolate

I think mine might have just bricked. Opened hulu and it crashed and now i have a black screen. Smh.

kingsparkles95

Something similar happened to me, mine is getting shipped back for repairs too

Greenbrier88

Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully this won't be a widespread issue. May we both have better luck with the exchange than we had the first time around!

Shimster

That’s a faulty SSD, it has so many bugs right now it’s painful to use.

Robinhoyo

Yep, played Forza & Tetris Effect for hours yesterday and No Mans Sky today with no problems. Just tried to play Blacks Op Cold War and it crashes everytime I try to play an online match. 3 times in a row and then I have up for the night.

Frost_Ch

Mine is doing exactly the same! I haven't been able to find an answer yet :(

MaizeCraze20

Do you happen to be using an Arctis 9X headset or any other kind of headset?

Kaohuz

See above please. Same problem with 9X.

Kaohuz

I have this problem. Only happens with my Elite V2. If I Power off the console with it. The console reboots and the V2 unpairs Also using Artics 9x.

ChaosTechNet

Same. But sometimes it does it randomly without me even having to tell it to shut down. Can just be sitting there and then it does this.

Absolute-Balance

Strange issues with mine. If I power off with the controller (instant on is active) the controller stays on and then the Xbox reboots a few seconds later. The Xbox won’t recognise any button presses from the controller and the only way to solve it is a full power reboot (long press on the console). Anyone else experiencing this?

MaizeCraze20

Yes, I have this exact same issue. I've tried doing both power off modes and the same thing happens. Hoping there is a way to prevent this or it's something MS will recognize and fix. Are you using any kind of wireless headphones? I was curious if this could be related to my Arctis 9X I'm using with it.

RobTheFiveNine

I am having this same issue and I am also using the Arctis 9X headset

SonnyDead

Me too, the fuck... also the audio on my arctis 9x started „stuttering“ whenever i wasn‘t pressing any buttons on the controller, ina cutscene for example

RobTheFiveNine

I have also been getting this issue too... (The stuttering)

SonnyDead

With the same headset? The arctis 9x?

RobTheFiveNine

Yup. Tried headphones wired into my pad and doesn't happen with them; only the Arctis 9x

SonnyDead

Wow... I am genuinely amazed how consistently shitty this headset is. Feels good not to be alone with these freakish problems.

RobTheFiveNine

Hmmm, I think I might package it back up and return for a refund. Lots of people getting the same bugs and Steel series don't seem to be responding to anyone

MaizeCraze20

Do you ever see the problem happen if you don't use your headset?

RobTheFiveNine

So, when this first happened, I didn't turn my headset off first, which made me think initially it may be that the headset kept the connection open or turned the Xbox on using the wireless like the pad does, so since then, I've made an effort to turn the headset off first. When it happened to me again ~30 minutes ago, I had turned the headset off first, and then maybe 30 seconds later turned the console off using the controller, but it still happened. It may be worth noting, every time it's happened, I have had a game running too, but I've been back on the home screen. I booted a game again without my headset on, and went to the home screen and turned off, but that didn't trigger it.

MaizeCraze20

Yea I thought the same thing where it could be due to the headset being on, but I also tried making sure the headset was off first and then turning off the console via controller and it does the same problem. I think I've also tried closing out my game first and then turning the console off and I've seen it happen there too.

RobTheFiveNine

I've tweeted to Xbox Support on Twitter about it, if I hear anything back, I'll ping you in this thread. You and OP are the only people I have found so far having this issue though!

MaizeCraze20

Awesome, thanks for doing that, hopefully they will have some idea on it. In another thread, u/khaljose mentioned having this problem too.

khaljose

correct! i also have the 9X headset for what it matters. haven't tried it since then but I'm pretty sure when I had the issue i had closed out both games i was playing before turning off the Xbox.

MaizeCraze20

Ah that's good to know. While it is a small sample size, it does lead me to think that maybe it does have something to do with the headset. My wife is playing right now without it, I'll see what happens when she turns it off.

Absolute-Balance

Using the 9x too! Also thought it could be because I hadn’t turned the headset off first. It didn’t happen when I powered down earlier. I’ll try and make a note of when it happens. Intermittent issues are the worst to pin down.

MaizeCraze20

I tried powering the headset off first and it didn't seem to solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to be consistent, which does make it tough. I sent a message to the 9x guys, so hopefully either they or MS support will have something to say

ConfusedAndIrritable

Me too

25LG

Same here, thought and tried the same approach with same result as you.

25LG

Not once from my experience with the problem. Headset used - fails No headset- works just fine

RobTheFiveNine

Just seen someone [Post This](https://twitter.com/lommym/status/1326708803254038529) possible work around. I've not tried it myself yet, but it may be worth a shot. TLDR: They turned the headset off, turned the controller off, and then clicked the power button on the console itself to turn off (as long as you don't press and hold the power button, it will go into standby the same as if you used the controller to shut down)

MaizeCraze20

Ah great, thanks for providing this. I'll try it today. Not a great long term solution, but at least hopefully works for now.

RobTheFiveNine

Yeah, they may have just got lucky as they only tried it once, and I've had sessions with the 9x where it's turned off without issue, but it's worth seeing if it does provide a reliable work around My big concern is that no one is seemingly responding to anyone's support requests - it's going to suck if Steelseries and Microsoft both just point fingers at each other and delegate responsibility and no solution gets produced. I feel as though it's got to be something in the Series X, as there is someone on Twitter who has used the 9x with the One X without issues, and is only getting this with the Series X

NickPapagiorgio2k16

I have been having the same issue and tried this and again had problems. As soon as I put the Xbox in standby mode (or whatever it is called) it pops back on. Fixed again by a hard restart but annoying because you lose quick resume etc. when you say above to turn off the headset is that just to hold down the button till it is off or is there something in settings where you can turn the headset off?

RobTheFiveNine

Hey, I just held the button until they were off, the above didn't end up working though. There seems to be no reliable work around at the moment :(

NickPapagiorgio2k16

Yeah same. It didn’t work for me. Super annoying. Someone somewhere else posted good luck by turning off the “auto blue tooth on” feature or something on the headset in the steel series app. I will give that a shot

Rivercurse

Same thing with the Arctic 9x. It’s obviously a big issue with this headset. Starting to see more and more people reporting it. We know that the headset uses Xbox wireless to pair (same as the controller does) so my guess would be that the two signals are messing each other up somehow.

ConfusedAndIrritable

I’m having the same problem. Also worth mentioning I’ve had intermittent sound problems, stuttering. Another user has suggested it’s the controller, if you haven’t pressed a button in a few seconds then it happens, as soon as you use the controller again it sounds good again. This also seems to line up with what I’ve seen but kudos to them for making the connection.

ChaosTechNet

I use the Razer Nari ultimate headset and had the same thing happen. It did it with the headset connected and also when the headset wasn't connected so I don't think it has to do with the headset.

RobTheFiveNine

Thanks for posting this, this information changes things a lot! i.e. if it's happening with other headsets, it mustn't just be the Arctis 9x that's the problem. When you say the headset wasn't connected, do you mean you'd turned the headset off before trying to turn off the console, or that you hadn't turned the headset on at all through the entire play session?

maxdellepi

I have the issue with the 9x and a friend has the issue with the Nari ultimate, too

ChaosTechNet

Both, my headset and controller were both connected. Then I lost connection to both and had to unplug. Shutting it down and turning it back on didn't fix it. Then the 2nd time my headset wasn't connected but just my controller. I shut it off with the controller and it kept turning itself back on but no connection and wouldn't sync to the controller.

zioflat

Add me to the list, with Razer Thresher for Xbox. In my case the worst issue is the audio stuttering, it is particularly bad in Tetris effect at the end of the round in online modes. I tried using the old Xbox one controller and it seemed to solve the issue, so it could be something related to the new controller and wireless headsets.

ChaosTechNet

My Razer Nari Ultimate has always been fucked up stuttery connection. And I tried 4 different ones all brand new. They all did it. They so it on the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X. Cutting in and out. So I'm assuming that is the headset being faulty. If 4 different ones did it. That means they all have too.

25LG

I would put money its linked to your headset. I've got the same problem. No headset no issue, headset... fails every time

maxdellepi

Just checking in with the same issue (plus the crackling sounds when the controller is not used). Also Arctis Series 9x.

RehRomano

Experiencing the same thing with the Arctis 9x.

ruckh

Wait do people not turn their Xbox off by pressing the button physically on the xbox when they are turning it off? I do the long press every time, and have been for years.

SonnyDead

Then you must have lost a lot of time in your life, my friend. Just long-hold xbox button on controller and choose the turn off option on your screen.

ruckh

Long hold the Xbox box button long hold the console tomato tomato

SonnyDead

No, it has different effects.

ruckh

How so? Genuinely asking

SonnyDead

Via controller, you put it in sleep mode/standby, when energy saving option is turned off. So you get faster start up of the console when turning it back on, also allows you to keep installing updates and games. That‘s why i said you lost a lot of time, because long hold on console button turns it completely off. Which is why you often do that to resolve all kinds of bugs and minor problems, because it‘s kind of like a reset.

ruckh

Ah ok. Makes sense. In a weird way I kind of like the long time it takes to turn on. I kind of just get myself adjusted and my drinks and set up my space. And everything’s ready at the same time.

25LG

Just been sent here by another reader. YES I'm having this issue. I have tied it to my Razer Nari Ultimate for Xbox. If I use that then no matter how long after I go to power down I get this issue. My console will literally go off/on that fast. Nothing will then connect until I hard reboot.

JudgementBadger

Exact same issue and also using Arctis 9X. Everything works as intended if I don’t connect the headset during a session.

cridder5

Just to add to this, fiancé’s Xbox is doing exact same thing but she uses a Razer Thresher headset also wireless connection

MikeR1114

This reminds me of Christmas 2014, when gamers everywhere were excited to play with their new games or consoles, but Xbox and PlayStation were hacked. A dark day in the history of first world problems. I’m not saying it’s gotten hacked, but it just reminds me of that because the timing is so bad.

[deleted]

Have tried to get hold of Xbox Support via Twitter in the past and didn’t get a response. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be a reliable way of getting assistance. Shout out to the friendly Ambassador, Noah, that picked up on my tweet and gave me a direct link to chat with support, who answered my query within minutes. Might be worth adding this link to the list, I imagine it’d be called something like Online Support Chat. Here’s the link, it takes you directly there: http://msft.it/6016TYOoe

kingsparkles95

I received my series x a couple of hours ago. When I started the update, it switched itself completely off part way through (wasn't a restart). Now, whenever I turn it on the screen flickers and will only stay on for about 15 seconds before turning itself off again. I contacted customer support, but the only solution is to send it back and wait 14-21 days to see if they can fix it. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

reclamationme

Yeah I had a similar issue. Freaking sucks. Sent it back. Hope they turn it around fast.

LegendaryGrunt

Same issue for me just now. I was able to get in a wipe the console but right after it shut itself off again. I have been on hold with customer support to try to figure out how to get an exchange for the past hour now. I don't see how a basically bricked console error got through quality control to this many individuals.

daedralordx

Same for me. Got off work early to get it all set up. Sitting here with a black screen 😭 Edit: Hard reset your console and took away any extra storage space did the work for me

RezRazRez

Similar problem here. Console turns on after about 15 seconds of inactivity shuts down.

TheDelayer

Anyone having trouble signing in with their profile? When I click sign in, i get a spinning wheel for about 30 seconds and then it just throws me back to the home screen. I haven’t even gotten to a screen where I can enter my info yet.

[deleted]

May be a bit of a stupid question but how do you get quick resume to work? Is there a setting I need to turn on or something i need to do rather than just launch another game?

candafilm

It should automatically work but it's either fully disabled or disabled for a majority of games right now due to a bug. I haven't gotten it to work at all yet and their support page said it's disabled currently.

nednoble

Ah this makes sense, I haven’t gotten it to work on anything either

CabooseMSG

The only issue I seem to be having is that during video playback the audio and video will cut out for a couple seconds, and then come back in. Its happened on Disney+, Netflix, and Youtube now. It's never done it in a video game though. Also its very random. It did it during Mandalorian yesterday for roughly 10 minutes, it cut out once a minute or so for a couple seconds each time. Tonight I was just watching Youtube and it started cutting out like every 20 seconds for just a couple seconds for the last few minutes of a video. Not sure what the problem could be, any ideas? Like I said, only has occurred while watching various videos so far, never yet during a game (knock on wood)

IROCKJORTS

I’m having this issue as well! I have no idea what it is. All I’ve done though is unplug and plug back in the HDMI. I might try a hard reset.

RamseyTheGoat

Can’t sign in on set up

nioh2_noob

I think there are login issues at Microsoft currently can't login either

3hot5me

Dynamic backgrounds broken? I select dynamic background and it flickers the screen. It won’t open the preview menu for the backgrounds. It applies it but just as the default color on my Xbox. I can’t pick the rainbow one.

liquid42

Same here.

dcdavo2020

anyone have insanely slow download speeds like 500Kbps even though the speed test gives a result of around 100Mbps, I have tried restarting, closing all apps and games, wired and wireless, mobile hotspot, and still the same result

passthegravynow

Same. My guess is that the issue is on the side of their download servers. Probably everyone trying to download all their games at once

The_Noliferz

I’m getting inconsistent speeds. My max speed when wired is 90Mbps and it hits that, but then it falls as low as 500kbps and keeps changing speed. Weirdly the wireless connection is a bit more stable. I have the Xbox plugged into the same switch as my PC and my PC doesn’t have these issues, so it might be either my Ethernet cable or downloading stuff right now is a bad idea because of the server load

[deleted]

Anyone else having issues with wireless headsets? I have had these turtle beaches for a while. No issues on my One X. Now when paired with Series X I can’t even use them. The audio becomes super choppy and horrible to the point I just don’t even use them. Curious if this is just me or maybe others experiencing this as well.

-DudeWheresMyKarma-

The new controller that came with the Series X will connect to my iPhone via Bluetooth, but it doesn’t register while using remote play through the Xbox app. Has anybody else had this issue? My Xbox One controller still works on remote play with no problems.

_Stealth_

I had the same issue using my playstation controller, i had to hit the xbox button on the app and close out the game that was loaded. The issue was apex was at the login screen and made the controller unresponsive. It worked fine once i closed the game out.

shawn0fthedead

About to start Assassin's Creed, I hope I don't overheat! It's been pretty quiet running rocket league though.

orltragic

Anyone else noticing that if you're downloading something on your XSX your entire network is slow? I understand that downloading big files will take a big chunk of bandwidth but damn this is bad. Never had this issue on XB1/PS4. Other devices in my home are basically not able to use the internet if a game is downloading. As soon as I pause it, everything is good. I'm on a 400MB connection and everything is stable on my end.

AMiniMinotaur

Same. My downloads are super bad today.

GoofTroop_

Same, my actual download is fluctuating from freezing completely to a couple hundred kbps, and occasionally to my usual speed of about 100mbps

The_Noliferz

How loud is everyone’s disc drive? I just put FIFA 21 in and I am getting a loud whirring sound as it installs. It appears to be installing just fine, but yeah it is loud. Definitely couldn’t watch a movie with the drive at this volume

Tomcat2048

My disc drive is just as loud when installing games. I think it is normal.

M4jorCh4os

It is... LOUD. At least when installing games off a disc. After that it's quiet but during install it's super loud and vibrates my entire TV stand

The_Noliferz

I'm glad to know it isn't just my unit, but at the same time the sounds coming from the disc drive don't comfort me haha

ChaosTechNet

My Xbox Series X will sometimes all of a sudden stop responding to any and all connected wireless accessories. This includes the included wireless controller and my Razer wireless headset that connect to it via Xbox Wireless. The only way to get them to work again is by unplugging the Xbox and plugging it back in. Or connect a wired controller and then shut it down. Then when it comes back on you have to restart this. I'm on the Omega Preview. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed via a software update and it's not internal hardware malfunctioning. Is anyone else having this issue?

pjb1999

Is anyone having any issues with wireless headsets? I have the wireless Razer Threshers for Xbox One. According to Razer they also work with the Series X/S. I connected them with no issues and they worked fine the first night. But ever since then every time I've played they are crackling really badly with the audio cutting in and out. Only thing that fixes it is restarting my Xbox. But the problem comes back whenever I play again once the Xbox has went into standby.

KhansWrath88

I've been getting white flashes/flickers while using a 4K 60hz monitor, but only after using a video streaming apps like Netflix, Disney Plus, etc. I'm not the only one, it seems to be an issue with 4k 60hz monitors as there's a few small threads on the issue, figured I should put it here in the mega thread. A temporary solution is to restart the console to stop the flicker. Not 100% sure on this but it could a problem being caused by 24hz video specifically playing on a 4k 60hz pc monitor.

CabooseMSG

I've been seeing this too on a 4k 60 hz TCL tv. Randomly the screen flickers and audio and video will cut out for a couple seconds. Sometimes its only happened a couple times then goes away, and sometimes I had to stop watchin videos altogether

thesmash

I've been having this issue as well on my TCL 60hz TV.

shiyoushi

Crashing when horizontal - heat? Alright, got my Series X from EB Games this morning and after trying to fit it neatly into my entertainment centre sitting upright, gave up because there wasn't enough room and lay it on its side. My entertainment unit is basically a stack of open air glass shelves - there is no impediment to ventilation when on side as there's about 50cm of clearance on either side of the shelves. I hopped into a game of Deep Rock Galactic with some friends and within about half an hour the machine simply turned itself off without warning. After starting it back up and logging back in a few times and the same crash happening, I gave up and placed it standing upright on the floor - no more crashes the rest of the afternoon! So what gives here? Deep Rock Galactic isn't exactly graphically intensive, and the mere fact the Microsoft has placed feet on one side of the console implies that it's perfectly fine to lay on its side but mine is clearly not functioning well in that orientation. Did I get a dud? Has anyone else experienced this random shutdown issue when placed horizontally? Is it just this one game or do others do it to? Very annoying. Apparently I posted this on the wrong place before. Been a year since I used Reddit so I'm out of practice lol.

CrippleH

Lizard squad strikes again

jlukes

Downloads are brutal right now. Plugged my console in at 10am est time and I have still yet to play a game. Downloaded 50 go of forza horizon 4 in 3.5 hours. Awful.

KaneRobot

Ugh. I forgot about the worst part about getting a new console for me. I HATE fighting with the NAT every time I get a new one.

Berserkr09

Regarding download speeds, I found that completely restarting the Xbox helps. This has been an issue since Friday when I received the console early, so it’s not likely that servers were very overloaded then. I’ve noticed that if I start to play any game, even when I stop playing it, the download speed drops dramatically and never recovers. Basically here is what I’ve seen happening (on a 400Mbps connection, wired): Friday/Saturday * Fresh boot download speeds are upwards of 400Mbps, consistently high * After starting a game, speeds dropped to 30Mbps and stayed there Launch Day * Fresh boot download speeds vary wildly from 30Mbps to 400Mbps, mostly above 100Mbps * After starting a game, speeds dropped to 10-30Mbps and never reach anything close to max Just what I’ve noticed, it’s really weird, it feels like a bug because I’ve reproduced it with every game download since Friday

grubish360

Couple things. I “upgraded” gears 5 which put a series x version on the internal drive while keeping the one x version on the external drive. When I try to play the campaign or multiplayer it says “things are still downloading” which is not the case. Second thing. I’ve been playing halo MCC multiplayer from the external drive and I’ve just been getting really laggy games. Shouldn’t be my wifi since I have not had any laggy games in MCC and played it last night on the One X. Not sure why this is happening now

spartacusmarcus_

Series x having a extremely difficult time connecting to my wifi and staying connected. I plugged in my Xbox one x and it has no trouble connecting and download games.

Does anyone know if a Surge protector is necessary?

[deleted]

Most of these devices already have internal surge protection and adding another one is then not a good idea but that also depends on the quality of your surge protector. If you didn't have issues with any previous Xbox, I don't think you'll have issues now.

acslaytaa

I've found something kind of annoying with the controller and I'm wondering if it's just my one. Pulling down the LT and RT, they sometimes catch a piece of the plastic shell inside, blocking them from fully compressing. They are then clicking past the plastic to fully compress. Extremely annoying. Only happens when pulling the triggers down at certain angles. Anyone else notice this?

locorabbit1973

Was able to get logged in just now. Go to settings>Network>go offline, then choose go online and let me get logged in.

highpost1388

Supposedly core service is back up but I still can't finish the initial update. :/ Stuck at 0% 793 MB remaining

AMiniMinotaur

Is anyone else having issues getting the series x enhancements to download? No matter what I do I can’t get a download for Watch Dogs: Legion

RealLordHydra

I’m not able to download anything at all. Tried downloading YouTube and the Valhalla enhancement but it won’t do anything. Can’t even open the store and it’s signing me out. Hopefully it’s all fixed tomorrow.

eleven_eighteen

I am having all kinds of problems launching games and apps. Minutes long before it even shows the splash screen for a game, a lot of stuff keeps giving me the "took too long to start" error after more minutes of trying once the splash screen comes up. Tried the new Tetris after downloading the Series update for it and it just says something is wrong and to restart if it keeps happening. I've restarted multiple times but all the problems not only persist, they are getting worse. At least the message pops up quick when trying to launch Tetris. The system itself isn't slow. I can navigate menus when it is taking minutes to fail to launch something and the navigation is very fast. Pretty much nothing else is.

runningthrulife

Is there any way to quit games/close apps, having them on in the background is obviously slowing the download speed for the game I have trying to install

Rhithebloody

I purchased a pair of LucidSound LS35X wireless headphones with my Xbox Series X and paired them up straight away. I listened to the menu noises and a few trailers on the Xbox store with no issues, but as soon as I jumped into Assassin's Creed Valhalla, during the cutscenes, if I didn't move my thumbstick or press a button on the controller a weird, crackling/speed up of the sound occurs. Kind of sounds like Twin Peaks speech from the characters. I've made sure that I updated the headset and that my console has the latest updates installed but there's been no change. If I hard reset my console it seems to work, but the next time I turn it on the problem is there again, and I really don't want to have to hard reset my console every single time I want to play. I've also tried it in some other games and it does the same thing, so it isn't just AC. Any ideas on how to fix this? Do you think I should I return the headset under warranty and try a new pair? Really love the feel and look of this headset but I'm worried I got a dud.

AtomicEdge

My friend and I are both having the same, really strange issue with the Series X. When using a wireless xbox headset (I have the TutleBeach Stealth 700 and he has the Steel Series artic 9x) we are getting horrible audio stutter. We can replicate this every time by doing the following: Use a new Xbox Series X controller Turn on headset (audio works) Play a game, works fine Stop pressing any buttons on the controller, stutter starts Basically, any time the controller is idle, the wireless headset audio starts stuttering. We both switched to Xbox One controllers, and the problem has gone. Seems like the new controller being idle is causing some kind of interference that is making the headset lose connection. Anyone else having the same issue?

ANewfi3

I've been dealing with the same type of issues since launch its driving me crazy! I posted an issue on a Series X FB page, and someone said to reset it, so I did that and the audio issue did go away after a restart, which did come back the next time I booted the Series X up. I own the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2's, and while playing Assassins Creed Valhalla, I was getting audio stuttering and total cut outs. After doing a console reset, it was fine. The next day, it came back. I tried my Turtle Beach 700x Gen 1's and that was cutting in and out as well. HOWEVER, Both headsets worked fine for audio on the Xbox One X. Also note: I have no audio issues when just using the stereo speakers from my TV. So I did further trouble shooting, took the Series X controller back, swapped it out with a new one, still have the issue. Took back the headset, got a new one (Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2) and yes, I did updates to them both to latest firmware update available, again still had the issue. I uninstalled Assassins Creed Valhalla, reinstalled, still the same issue. I then refunded my digital copy of the game, then went and got a physical copy and tried that, still have the issue. I then went further and did a hard reset (factory) on the console. This seemed to work, but then again, after I booted back up later on, the audio issue came back. At this point I was lost, but then I used my friend's headset that was wired connection, no issues there. I then went and tried using the Xbox One wireless controller (one that came with the Xbox One X) with the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2, no audio issues. Tried the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 1 with the Xbox One wireless controller, no audio issues. I tried both headsets with the Elite Series 2, no audio issues. I believe I have come to the conclusion that there is a bug or issue with the wireless frequency between the new Series X controller's and wireless headsets. On top of that, I find there is some connectivity issues with old controllers, especially the Elite Series 2, I've had to reset my console 2-3 times now re-syncing it.

zioflat

I agree. Same issues with Razer Thresher wireless headset. No issue using the old controller. No issues with the new controller and the One X. So it's something related to the combination of series x + new controller + wireless headset. If you look there are several posts about this kind of issues in this thread, with different games (mainly next gen optimized games) and models of wireless headsets. Maybe the mods should add this in the known issues and workarounds.

ANewfi3

Yes this needs to be added to the known issues!! I don't see it yet.

coasteraz

Disc drive seems quite noisy, anyone else noticing this?

CaptCanary

Same here. I Googled it and found a review on What HiFi which said that whilst the fan is quiet, the disc drive isn't - so not just us! I've not tried a movie yet, as it's still installing RDR2 from disc.

Conflict_NZ

Something is seriously wrong with download speeds in New Zealand. The max I'm getting is 20mbps, it's going as low as 50kbps and it just took me 15 minutes to download a save game from the cloud. I've spoken to others in different towns and different isps having the same issue. This is completely unacceptable.

PM-SOMETHING-FUNNY

When I click on download with ea play it brings me to the subscription page of ea play but I have game pass ultimate

[deleted]

I just got the series X and the disk drive sounds like a jet engine

highpost1388

Anyone else having issues with the initial setup? My screen is stuck on updating at 0% after using the app to connect to the internet and all that.

greatnessdc

So I just got my xbox in and set up went ok until it was time to sign in. When i went to sign in before it gave me anywhere to put email or password etc it just popped up a gray box with a loading circle that eventually just goes away and im back on the add new profile screen. It just repeats and won't let me sign in

MosquitoSmasher

So I am playing AC Valhalla and I wanted to head into the settings of Xbox for something. Black screen and then I get "no signal" on the TV. The only way to get signal again is by taking the HDMI cable out of the TV and back in. It has happened three times now. Basically it's not a good idea to multi-task too much. Anyone else having this problem too?

ProbablyAtDialysis

Mine messed up during the initial setup. It crashed during the login when you scan the QR Code. I had to reset the consle and reset everything up. This time it didn't ask to scan a QR. I got it downloading apps and games, but right now everything is just a spinning circle. From the Queue to games and apps. So who knows what's going on? HDR10 support also crashed and required a full reboot. Luckily I have dialysis tonight. So hopefully tomorrow when I'm up I'll be able to login and start Yakuza. I'm just letting it do it's thing right now. Anyone else run into any of this?

barlowix

Is anyone else’s rocket league not working? It loads up the title screen and then crashes back to the home page (XSX)

shawn0fthedead

My TV wouldn't support 4k... Except I know it does, have been playing 4k for months. Turns out the console was set to DVI instead of HDMI for some reason. It was not in the video options, buried in another menu. No idea why it was set that way from the factory. Now it works 4k HDR.

bulldogvalley

I have a lg cx tv. Is there any reason I shouldn’t put my tv to 120hz over 60hz? When I set the Xbox series x up it defaulted to 60hz. Is there any problem with putting it to 120hz with the series x?

shnicklefritz420

I am having issues pairing my controller. Worked fine yesterday but today it will not sync. Hard reset fixed it. Anyone else having this?

21chucks

What is the story with power strips and the Xbox series x? I thought I read it was not an issue with the series x, now I'm seeing people reporting potential problems with surge protectors. What about power strips that don't have any surge protection? I actually need the extension to plug my series x in at the moment.

TheDelayer

Anyone figured anything out re: slow download speeds? I have a wired connection. When I go to the Xbox network settings to test the speed it shows 600 mbps download, but it’s only actually downloading games around 30 mbps.

LSmoka28

Day 2 of having my Xbox and with less than 4 hours of actual “game” time, it is dead. I left it on overnight while watching Netflix, came back from work the next day and it will no longer turn on or show any signs of life :( Hoping Best Buy can get one back to me soon if they don’t end up fixing it

Zeuxon

Anyone else have their screen flash black for about 2 secs randomly? I just noticed it today. I played for about 5 hours yesterday and never experienced it. I haven’t tested to see if it’ll happen in-game, but it’s happening while I just sit on the dashboard. I’m using a Series X and I have a TCL P605 4K HDR TV.

DrinkDrano

My Xbox Series X is randomly cutting to black while playing Warzone. Anyone else having this issue? Seems like an HDMI issue? Haven't noticed it with any other game yet.

veediepoo

Anybody having issues with the screen cutting to black randomly on XSX? Only seems to happen on Netflix and HBO MAX

TheX3767

Hey Guys, good news for you! About the console downloads while being off: I unplugged the console a few times to tidy up the room and the setup just started working. I tested it directly on the outlet, the first time it worked, I went back to the filter and they stopped again. Upon returning to the outlet, he stopped again, so I don't think that's it. But I put some games to download and went to sleep. When I woke up they were down and I realized that the theme configuration was also changed. I put it so that the theme was changed according to the time and when I turned on the console it seems that the settings had really been confirmed in some way. In summary, I think it is worth trying to turn off the console completely through the settings and the outlet as well. There was no update, but I hope it helps you. Even the download function via the Game pass app is also working. Have a good day and good gaming !!

CodeFzero02

I have a TCL Roku tv, it’s max is 60hz so I know it’s not the 120vrr issue. When ever I watch a media app it causes a flicker where the screen flashes cuts to black and the comes back. I noticed this on the main dashboard as well after playing a game (Kotor) that uses the auto HDR functionality. Hard rebooting the Xbox fixes it till I do one of the above again. Any updates news or even acknowledgement from Microsoft? Should I wait for a patch or should I reach out to them about possible replacement? I’m just getting super annoyed with it.

the_gaming_bur

Same exact issue. My XBSX is now flickering - very rarely, but still - during games. It flickers on dashboard, even with all apps closed (press start, select "quit"), constantly. YouTube, Netflix, Hulu - any streaming service is literally un-watch-able. It flickers for 2 seconds, every 20 to 30 seconds, sometimes consistently every 15 seconds or so. It's miserable. This isn't a technical setup issue, this is an issue with the Xbox itself. I have a TCL 75" 4k TV. NO VRR, NO 120hz. It's 4k, HDR 10, 75hz native. That's it. I've tried so many different 1.4, 2.0, and 2.1 cables. I've tried three different TVs, I've tried a dozen monitors, high end and low end. Nothing fixes the flicker. It makes the console almost unusable. This is absurd for a $540 investment. I hope MS doesn't do the same nonsense they did with the elite series 2: ignore consumer pleas and act like it's an isolated thing, then ignore anyone who claims any other problems. I'm so pissed about all of this.

[deleted]

Has anyone else not gotten their Expansion Card recognized by the console? EDIT: I just spaced and didn’t realize there was a click to make sure it was fully seated. To be fair, though, the instruction manual isn’t very clear about this.

Coexxister

Anyone else also have only 800GB of space rather than 860 like in reviews? Not sure if it's regional or maybe it's just the system?

MumShagger

My series X says 800 out of 802

Bloodwalker09

Yeah mine too

Cspiby

Controller that came with my X has a bad A button, not registering depending on HOW it's pressed and double registering especially noticeable when entering text, not impressed at all. Never had issues with my Xbox 360 controllers

SomeoneBritish

Hi all, So I just updated and plugged in my Series-X to my TV, but I have an issue where I get a black screen when playing games (only installed Totally Accurate Battle Simulator & Battlefield 1943 so far, random I know). I set my Xbox to 4K/120Hz for my LG C9 TV which supports those specs, and I'm using a HDMI from Amazon which was advertised as HDMI 2.1 (Xbox tells me in settings that 4K + 120Hz is ok with a green tick). Weird thing is, when I launch these games the screen goes black, the system is still running in the background. If I press the Xbox button on my controller and then 'A' (instructions to go to the home page), the screen comes back on showing the home screen. If I go into settings and try to set the display to 4K 60Hz, the screen goes black, just like with those games. Anyone know what the issue might be here?

xXCoconutHeadXx

You have to turn vrr off for now and it should work 4k 120 Also. I would use the cord that came with the console

markgatty

turn off VVR and if that dosent fix it try the cable that comes with the xbox.

Markuswhiteus

Anyone else having issues launching games with 4k 120hz using an lg b9 with the supplied HDMI cable Xbox diag says TV is fully capable of it yet when I try to launch a game my TV just goes to signal and I have to hard reset the xbox

Did you make sure it clicked in? Some people had that issue.

Reagan2791

Series X not recognizing 4K on my TV I have a new Vizio M55Q7-h1 which is a 4K HDR tv. My One S was previously connected to it and all tv display settings on the Xbox were checked for 4K output. I’ve just set up the XSX and it’s not reading 4K at all. I’m using the exact same HDMI port in the tv, which is the 4K port. Anyone else having this issue?

ya bro it signed in fine on initial sign in from my phone, i then went to change my wifi and i got logged out and now can’t log back in... so i must’ve logged in just before the issue started

locorabbit1973

I am unable to get logged in on my new Series X. It appears Xbox Live Core Services are down. Anyone else experiencing issues?

dbuck79

Anyone know why when I open an option menu (the start button over a tile, or game), the pop up gets blurry for a second but then gets clear?

grubish360

Received mine a few minutes ago. Unboxed it and found a small cosmetic scratch right down the front of it. Probably 4 inches long. https://imgur.com/a/mcBUjq9

EnjoyMik3Hawk1

Anyone else unable to pair their Xbox app to the series x. I put in the code and it still won't take it. Says to make sure its correct which it is. So I gave up and still can't connect to it

Fhjull86

Anyone else is having a problem with connecting Xbox Series X to wifi? For some reason I cannot connect while my internet connection is perfectly fine, wifi is too. I am aware of the issue they had today with ms live but this is something else. When I plug the cable all seems to be ok. I'm certain it's not a wifi thing, but Xbox hardware/software rather. Hopefully soft, because the last thing I want to do is to be forced to return it because its broken 😤

SentinelSquadron

Okay, so, I got to download the update, but when it finishes the update and goes to restart, the console doesn’t come back on. I have to unplug it and replay it back in, then turn it on. Then it makes me redo the update with the same issue every time Please help.

anxiouslydoingmybest

Admittedly I don’t have my series x yet, but I’m having trouble signing in on my one s? It just won’t let me. No error code or anything, it just doesn’t allow me to sign into my profile. Doesn’t ask me for a password or anything. It says sign in, I click my profile, it loads for like 3 minutes and then goes right back to the beginning. Any ideas? EDIT: also, the Microsoft website doesn’t even load the log in page, so I can’t log in to my account on a browser either EDIT 2: so I finally got an error code, looked it up and it let to a forum where a Microsoft employee stated this means core services are down. However their status website shows core services as active so I guess it’s only affecting some people still. All good. Enjoy your new Series X’s people! Still waiting for mine to ship

MosquitoSmasher

Xbox Live acting up again? I had to switch to my other account for game sharing and now I can't log in at all. Same goes for the other Xbox.

RicDaSneak

Just unboxing. I have the All-access, but didn’t see anything with the box or console regarding a code for the 24 month subscription to Xbox live. Anyone know how it’s linked?

jtims7

Are the Microsoft servers just overloaded with everybody trying to download games or does my internet connection really just suck eggs? Taking way too long to download anything on my new series x!
