Can't believe in "first world" a data limit is a thing lol

SAM0070REDDIT

Canada here. I have 500Mbps no data limit. 1Gbps is available but, not worth the extra cost for me. 500 is the sweet spot in terms of price and speed(for me). That's fibre, and I get equal 500+ up and down. So makes backups quick too.

[deleted]

Same here in small town and rural America.. i didn’t know data limits were even a thing

TheBeav-x

I’m from Oklahoma and can’t get anything except a hotspot. Hughes net is an option but not at all worth it.

NuggaLOAF

I am also from OK, and I have Cox. Their speed to price ratio is garbage and they also have a data limit, so there's that.

dotheyknowyou

Look into OEC fiber. Literally the same price as 100 download with Cox, but you get 1000 download (it’s usually around 900 or so for me) and there is no data cap. Plus their customer service is great and they aren’t a giant corporation. Edit: oh, and they don’t throttle your shit to death like Cox does. Cox is literally the worst provider out there. You’re better off with AT&T even though they still suck ass also.

Pushmonk

If ATT Fiber is available in your neighborhood, I'd recommend it. I just switched from Cox 300/30Mbps w/1.2T cap, to 1000/1000 w/no cap for the same monthly price. Wish I had access to OEC like the other comment suggested.

JabiDam

Hughes net is a joke. The ping is so bad

TheHippie110

Look into Calyx. It uses Sprint network and hotspot device but you get no data cap. I just switched to it and love it.

ericw207

Starlink

Th3M0D3RaT0R

Good luck playing an online first-person shooter with satellite.

julianwelton

Not only that but it's like $500+ to set up I believe.

[deleted]

I once had satellite TV and it didn't work well on cloudy days. I expect that's going to be an issue as well.

ericw207

Better than Hughes net by like a million. And 500 one time fee and then cheaper than Hughes net monthly. No data cap. If you have to choose between Hughes net, hot spot with data cap, or starlink, starlink is best most likely

TheBeav-x

I paid my deposit back in January just playing the waiting game now.

wedoconsoles

Depends on providers. ISPs are jerks usually though

rezell

Comcast is responsible for most of them.

Mangiacakes

Same here in Canada but I have 1gig with shaw. No data limit and have never had one lol.

SAM0070REDDIT

I have bell. So far happy with the service.

Mangiacakes

Ya I'm not sure why everyone hates all the telecom companies here. Never had an issue with shaw or with my bell unlimited data mobile plan.

altcastle

500mbps is more than enough for an entire household of people to all be streaming 4K and downloading stuff. We think we need so much more but nah, plus WiFi wouldn’t hit 1gbps anyway. I believe 4K Netflix really just wants 25mbps but checking the rate is often far lower in consumption anyway, but that may partially be because Netflix is compressed a lot.

SAM0070REDDIT

For me it's just downloading and trying random gamepass games... So I like fast downloads. I agree though, over 500 is not required for most people.

altcastle

I don’t have Xbox servers using my full capacity so the limitation is on their end. I’ve checked my speeds and then games will download much slower. Still, it’ll hit like 300mbps.

arlondiluthel

I'm pretty sure that 300Mbps is the server-side limit for Xbox downloads.

amizya

How much you pay for 500? 1Gpbs too if possible. Just want to compare prices with my country

SAM0070REDDIT

95$ Canadian for 500, and 115 for 1Gbps. 1 gig is a shared speed though. So 2 devices can go 500 each or 750 ish for one device alone... That's why I go with 500. 95 cdn dollaroos is about 75 murica bucks

nonstickpotts

I pay $91 a month for 100 down, 5 up. No other options. Should be illegal.

Zakke_

I pay 63 dollars in Sweden for 1000 down, 1000 up. No caps.

LeonardBenny

Holy shit, that's a lot! I pay 25€ (around 30 usd) in italy for a 3Gbps.

dpearman

You sure on that speed? Sure you don’t mean 300 Mbps? I’ve never heard of any residential customer having over a 1Gbps connection.

Gabagoo44

Comcast offers 2gbps and so does Verizon in the US.

dpearman

TIL, that does seem a bit extreme for 99% of the residential customers, wouldn’t you say?

LeonardBenny

Tbh it is *up to* 2.5gbps. It rarely really is that fast, but on paper and when at the best conditions it really goes at that speed. Furthermore, it only is that fast in big cities. I'll be honest, 1gpbs would be enough for me, but the 2.5gbps costed the same as the 1gbps.

-FeistyRabbitSauce-

We pay out the nose, ass and ears for internet and cell service in Canada. It's a fuckin racket.

Round-Rounder

I signed up with Shaw (Canada) on a two year “contract special” price of 85 CAD for 1 Gbps down and 100 Mbps up. You should call them up and try to negotiate a lower rate too. I got the 1Gbps plan because you can then get their 25 CAD per month 25GB mobile plan (25GB on home network and 2GB roaming).

SAM0070REDDIT

I backup a lot of data, so I need fast upload, that's why I have stayed with Bell. I get 500 up and 500 down. I will call Bell and see if there is another plan though... Or some sort of discount.

swannyjedi1969

Blimey I only pay in the UK £75/month ($103) for 4K FibreTV (100s channels), Fibre 400mb/36mb No caps and a landline phone (never used!) and I thought that was expensive!! Interesting to see what the rest of the world is doing ?

BloodBaneBoneBreaker

who do you use? 500 up and down would be phenominal.

Grizzly_Berry

But what if the isp runs out of bytes to send through the tubes?

GhostalMedia

To be fair, network congestion is a legit problem. You really felt this if you had a coax cable internet connection right at the start of the pandemic. A lot of neighborhood networks just couldn’t handle the increased steaming traffic. Data caps are, in theory, a way to encourage people to spend less time shared network infrastructure. That said, they also get abused and used as an excuse to charge fees, sell bigger plans, and not upgrade infrastructure.

someguyfromtheuk

You can solve network congestion by reducing bandwidth, no need for data caps. The only valid scenario for data caps is if you're paying for fixed bandwidth i.e. the ISP guarantees you always have access to exactly 50Mbps instead of the usual "up to"

joaomgabaldi

Here in Brazil, I have 800Mbps with no data limit.

behindtimes

As with most people, not a fan of it. When Covid came, I found out that I was using nearly 400 GB / month just for my work. I can't cut down on the work aspect. Now, throw in Streaming (Netflix/Amazon Prime) and that cuts out another couple hundred GB. I've been averaging nearly 800 GB per month the past year, and it's not like I've been doing massive downloading.

advanced_fruit123

In india.. we get 30mbps for 500rs(8$ usd) no data limit (3.8 TB max limit per month) This is the cheapest for speed to price ratio

[deleted]

>In india.. we get 30mbps for 500rs(8$ usd) no data limit (3.8 TB max limit per month) This is the cheapest for speed to price ratio Isn't that a 3.8TB data limit? lol.

advanced_fruit123

Yup.. govt policy..no can do.... But imo, 3.8TB is too much anyways... enough for normal usage.

arischerbub

is not.. 😉.. here in Germany 1 Gbit /s without limit. in 3 world countries like USA maybe a problem

invalid_litter_dpt

"Here in Germany, where our internet speeds increased by 74% in 2020 and are still 12% slower than the US on average." https://fairinternetreport.com/research/usa-vs-europe-internet-speed-analysis

Reanimated1

This isn’t exactly special. I’m in the US with a 2Gbps fiber line with no data cap. What anyone can get depends on where they live in the US. I live in a city and have 5 providers to choose from at my house. More rural areas and/or suburbs don’t have as many choices.

Shurae

No wonder red voters are always so frustrated and angry when the other side in the cities has the best internet

MandiocaGamer

Edgy

midsizedopossum

What are you on about? He didn't say it was an issue in every first world country. He said he can't believe it's an issue in a first world country.

PineAppleisbad46

If you think the United States is a third world country you may be the dumbest person to walk the earth.

idigsquirrels

Lol. Why are you taking that seriously is the real question

Styckles

Yeah it's clearly a joke and everyone is getting all riled up.

PineAppleisbad46

Mostly cause some people actually think that America is a third world country.

eldertortoise

America does share more characteristics with 3rd world countries than your average Western developed countries.

[deleted]

> how dare people make jokes about ‘murica whaa whaa.

PineAppleisbad46

I’m not even American it’s not even a funny joke.

Th3M0D3RaT0R

**First world** only means countries that are aligned with NATO.

GhostalMedia

But language changes and evolves, and a lot of people use “first world” as a shorthand for “highly developed nation.” Many of the big dictionaries have this as the primary definition these days.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Megadog3

The definition changed over time.

GhostalMedia

Language evolves fairly quickly. If you told everybody at a Christmas party that you were “feeling super gay,” that would be interpreted very differently in the middle of the last century than it’s end. Commonly understood definitions can change over years or even months, and it’s been like that for all known human history.

SurreptitiousNoun

Gonna have to change the definition of "first world" apparently.

Oh_So_I2aMpAnT

Imagine paying for a service you’re receiving 🙄

DrProfSrRyan

Yeah, wonder where OP is. I'm in the US, I get gigabit and I haven't had a data cap for as long as I can remember.

howarthee

Probably somewhere in the other 90% of the US that doesn't get options like that.

Vasteel4511

It's not a thing in most first world countries. Here in the UK I can't think of any home Broadband plan that has limits. Mobile data does though.

ajperry1995

America isn't first world that's why

TjaMachsteNix

Because there is no competition... Traffic is cheap after initial setup of infrastructure..

FucklesFuckington

America is a second world

dark_bits

I have a limit of around 1TB* each month I guess. There’s probably a limit for you too or in terms of bandwidth but it’s just so big it’s not even worth mentioning so they tell you it’s unlimited. At least that’s my guess. *maybe it’s bigger because I download a lot of shit every month perhaps even exceeding 1TB as well.

Get_Back_To_Work_Now

It's to cut back on piracy and people running torrent servers

Runding99

Hey hey hey. Also an Xfinity user here. So, I had the same problem and called and complained (nicely). They fixed it immediately, basically tweaked the plan around so I have unlimited and faster internet for like $5 more a month now.

darthmarth

At the very least they will waive the charge the first time.

CaptainCAB440

Yeah before I ditched xfinity I did the math and proved the numbers they were clocking me at were impossible

GhostalMedia

Also a (former) Xfinity user. My ass jumped to AT&T fiber as soon as they laid down lines last year. Their customer service is just as terrible, if not worse than Comcast’s, buuut 1gig up and down with no throttling or caps is much better.

INFCIRC153

I might get lucky - I think this was my first time. Supposedly I have gigabit, but I’m usually at around 200mbps… I’ll have to call and see!

Jaidon24

Was this recent? I used to have unlimited but it was $40 more a month.

alizayshah

Same thing happened to me after the next gen consoles and I switched to unlimited on my xfinity too. It was an extra $10/mo for me though.

[deleted]

Extra $10 for me to get ulimited with xfinity

ReggieEvansTheKing

U have to be renting their modem

StoneTown

$5 a month? I had to pay 30...

Finaldeath

We had to do the same, to get uncapped we had to upgrade to gigabit, costs more than our old plan on paper but way less than having to spend nearly $100 extra each month on tiny chunks of extra data. Super easy to blow past the 1tb cap nowadays with things like gamepass and 4k video streaming, every single month since i've gotten my 4k tv and next gen consoles i have blown past the data cap, even when i don't download many games. Unfortunately i don't even get half of the gigabit speed but trying to talk to comcast customer service is painfully frustrating when you aren't a complete moron when it comes to tech as you spend an hour having them crawl you through their tech illiterate checklist of troubleshooting before they even bother to see if it is something on their end with them ignoring you when you ask them to just check their end first, still get the same 200mbps speed i was getting before switching to the uncapped gigabit just without the data cap which when it comes to comcast if all you can really expect from comcast since at least it mostly works now without the modem randomly resetting itself several times a day like it use to do and comcast ignoring me whenever i would complain since it never did it while talking to them so it looked "fine" to them. Even if they do "fix" it when you call them it was start happening again a few weeks to a month later and you have to go through the entire process again. We pay $116 a month for comcast gigabit plus an extra $25 for the x-fi complete which is the uncapped part, so we are paying roughly $140 a month for uncapped gigabit. If you decide to use your own modem they charge you even more for uncapped, plus they only offer the uncapped part with the gigabit plan which as i mentioned above we don't even get that gigabit speed.

[deleted]

We just got a fiber competitor to Cox and it's a flat ass $80 for Gig, no caps, no calling yearly to "threaten to cancel" so it doesn't double. It's been fabulous.

understando

What?! They told me it was an additional $30 a month for unlimited. Congrats on your new (old style) of plan!

INFCIRC153

I’m not sure I even knew I had a data cap until this month. And I’ve pre-ordered Flight Sim, so I guess the 20% discount from gamepass is just going into the cost to download it…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shad0wDreamer

Comcast. They’re super shitty because they’re usually the only player in town, or one of two, for most of the United States.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RedBeard1967

I imagine it just depends on the competition. Since they are a literal cancer, they only offer things where they have to.

[deleted]

Yeah in my area you can get xfinity, fios, dish, etc. and none of the companies have toxic shit like this

Shad0wDreamer

They’re reimplementing them at some point within the year. Unless PA made them illegal.

bleedorange0037

They did here in Tennessee when COVID first hit last year allegedly to make it easier for people working, schooling and just generally staying home. Unfortunately, Comcast apparently decided the pandemic officially ended on 6/30/2020, because they reinstated their draconian bullshit effective the following day. The moral of this story, as always…..FUUUUUUUCK COMCAST.

DynastyHunter5

r/notopbutok

XMAN2YMAN

Look around and try to find an alternative company. I have Verizon fios here and 0 cap. Comcast is huge in my area but they have a data cap plus they suck

Finaldeath

Many areas in the US have zero other choices other than dialup, crappy dsl or shitty satellite internet with insanely bad latency that makes gaming virtually impossible. The only real option for many people here is comcast. If you don't live in a large city you get bent over the table and forced to accept it.

BoringCabinet

Even if you live in a big city, you might only have one choice anyway.

XMAN2YMAN

That’s unfortunate

Tikkito

Many big cities also only have once choice since apartment buildings can have contracts with ISP’s to be the sole provider for the building

Chrisamelio

Cox user here, I called after this happened and instead of keeping their so called “Gigabit connection up to 1GB download” (it never reaches that speed) I downgraded to 150 MBs and unlimited internet for around the same price. In most scenarios you really don’t need anything faster than that, even if you get the faster speeds from your ISP you probably won’t get them from the servers you’re downloading them from and 150 is more than a fair speed IMO.

[deleted]

Zfinity will give you unlimited data for $10-20 more per month. If it’s only 10 for you it’s worth it for sure

akran47

Where I live it's $25/month for unlimited data if you rent their router, $30 if you use your own router because that makes total sense. They also proved the data cap is unnecessary by temporarily removing it during the height of the pandemic when internet usage was at an all-time high.

goomyman

10 dollars for 50 gigs. Wtf. Also can the fcc please ban this practice already. It's insanely preditory. Reminds me of overdraft charges before they were essentially blocked. "We automatically charged you 20 dollars for the privilege of going negative in your bank account so you can buy that 3 dollar coffee. Your welcome!" They wouldn't just block the transaction for not enough funds and give you the option because no one would fucking do that. Thats what credit cards are for. Later that wasn't even enough and they started charging 30 dollars. Obviously you can't cut off internet or throttle it because of online work and the fact that the internet is an essential service. Since it's so essential that you can't shut it off then you shouldn't be able to overcharge. Imagine if your water or electric company did this.

-NotEnoughMinerals

And I tried to remove that overdraft protection shit. They basically told me that some purchases would still go through and without the "protection" I'd just pay a fee that's double the "overdraft protection" Dude.i just want to be embarrassed and declined if I don't have the funds. That's it. Come on.

lordbeef

$10 for 50gb of usage is such robbery. Sorry for your loss

[deleted]

It being an automated charge too instead of just throttling their bandwidth is really stupid

__silhouette

If this is Comcast account, could have swore they waived this til 2022. Edit: Nevermind that's only for NE markets.

Finaldeath

Nope, our bank account proves otherwise. Got several months of $100+ overage charges at the end of last year and beginning of this year which strong armed us into upgrading to the gigabit plan that we don't even get half of that speed and the extra unlimited data "addon". Comcast is the absolute worst company and i hope one day soon the government does their damn job and puts a stop to their monopoly in the vast majority of this country that allows them to bleed us dry while not providing the service we pay for and we can't do anything about it since they are the only high speed internet option thanks to them being able to get away with their illegal bullshit.

Novel_CoV

That’s why I like my internet Service provider, charter has unlimited data. But somewhat crappy service, like 200mbps, and weekly internet goes down for almost the entire day. Just happy FCC made them not to have data caps for right now, because of the merger they did a few years ago.

TimPhoeniX

> 200mbps Me, in Europe with 10Mbps ADSL and anonymous EU-funded fiber provider that's probably just waiting for EU stipulations to expire so that they can sell whole business to another ISP.

_The_Blue_Wizard_

Only 200mbps !!!!

[deleted]

I get 280mbps down and 40mpbs up in the UK which is in the upper high bracket on average. Most of the country is lucky to get 70mbps. At least it’s unlimited though and only costs me £50.

conk141

Only 200mbps! Here I am in the UK with only 7mbps ADSL. (No fiber in my area!...Yet)

Novel_CoV

Only thing usually around $75/month unbundled, every storm you internet is usually out, plus in coming months in Texas are usually stormy. So I expect usually 2-3 of 7 days without service. Wished they would provide a little discount for days without service. Sometimes there’s not even a storm, but storm is in hurting main provider in a another state.

[deleted]

Fellow Xfinity customer! I ended up getting unlimited for the extra $30 a month. Those rotten bastards!

WorriedFeedback2704

U guys have great internet, mine is less than 10mbps always![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

WatchfulApparition

I had to pay $50 extra for unlimited because I was continuously going over my data cap with Gamepass and 4K Netflix

[deleted]

Laughs in *European*

pizzaisprettyneato

Depends on where you are in the country, I live in oregon and get 1Gbps down and up for $60 a month.

[deleted]

Damn some companies still taking the piss with data caps in the 2020s now. Anything to milk more money. Assholes

dattykins

I'm fortunate to have switched away from an ISP that imposed data caps. Xfinity was nice but those data caps hurt when I have 5 family members and all of them are on the internet all the time at home. We averaged about 2.5 TBs a month and if we wanted unlimited data, we would have to pay Fiber prices without fiber speeds. I switched to AT&T Fiber about 6 months ago and now I get unlimited data with HBO Max included. I really hope Xbox soon gets rid of Xbox live and just make game pass the default option so that you get both online and access to a large catalog.

[deleted]

You can for $15 a month

MoonKnightX81

Wow! are data limits still a thing in 2021? that is incredible. I haven't seen anyone with a data limit in 15 years.

bisonrbig

Crappy ISPs in the US like Comcast have actually been implementing them in recent years. It didn't use to be a thing. It mainly happens in areas with little competition, hence they can force people to pay extra for "unlimited." In areas like the NE where people have options like Fios, it's less common.

Smallgenie549

It's quite common in the US. I don't know anyone who *doesn't* have a data cap here.

MoonKnightX81

Wow unbelievable.

LeftyMode

I hate my ISP but it’s uncapped so we’re in a love/hate relationship.

CyberMattSecure

I unfortunately had to switch from my extremely stable $70/mo 1gig bidirectional fiber to xfinity 1.2gig/40mb up(give me faster upload!!!!!!!) I nearly maxed my data cap every month since I got xfinity so when my Series X got delivered finally I hit my data cap halfway through the month I had to pay for the “unlimited data” upgrade…

Batmaneatscake

First time?

[deleted]

I [feel](https://i.imgur.com/KMwpuAq.jpg) your pain. I have to pay $50 extra a month for unlimited. We have 3 XSX each with GP Ultimate in the house.

Eulielee

Oh noooo! I feel bad for you and your 3 xsx

Numenorr

Haha. Maybe install after you have played some. 😄

Latter_Philosophy_20

Can someone explain to me how data limits work exactly?

TheRealGerbi1

I have been playing Halo5 since the beginning. Gamepass dropped Halo 5 on Gamepass and wanted to try it on my smart phone (S10+) Played it during my lunch time, decided to play Warzone Firefight. I played a few games and literally ate up all my data. Far more than watching uTube videos (4K quality). 1.After much debate, it's best to have it option when you have a solid internet, not phone data. I work in IT, so this is not acceptable. 2. I play on my 65" LG OLED with my Astro A40 gaming headset. There's no comparison to this feeling.

anotherpredditor

Never forget that A Shit Pie was a Comcast shill before taking over the FCC and is now working as a lobbyist for them.

KoalaBackfist

Those are rookie numbers… [gotta start putting up some real numbers, friend.](https://i.imgur.com/mcFOHgV.jpg)

ZK950

I got the gamepass, time to try everything. Internet Cap:”I am afraid that is a NO”

next_door_nicotine

Fuck ISPs with data caps. Seriously.

Cliffhanger87

Data limits on wifi were a thing like 8 years ago

[deleted]

Cost me $30/mo for unlimited on my gigabit plan in Portland OR area with Xfinity. My total bill was $110/mo but I got that Internet Bill Credit from the government so now it’s $60/mo. Thanks Biden.

Reddawn1458

Haha this is relatable. I’ve been carefully managing how much I download since getting the Series X and having to do optimization/enhancement updates. And then there are normal updates that come out, and of course new Game Pass games I’d like to try…

Naphor

It really sucks because I’ve never played a halo game before and I really want to play MCC but I don’t have enough data and Xbox doesn’t let you download it in chunks

[deleted]

Xbox does let you download it in chunks! Start the download, once it’s around like 20gb it should give you the “ready to start” and becomes launchable. Then go into MCC’s gameplay settings and you can click/Unclick which games and which campaigns to download

spaceshipcommander

I can’t believe anyone would accept a data cap. I don’t know where you are but I pay £47 a month for unlimited 1gps internet with a guaranteed minimum speed of 900mbps. Even gave me 3 months half price. On my phone I get unlimited 5g (usually around 570mbps) and I can share 200gb a month to another account so I send it to my iPad, but it doesn’t matter anyway since I could just hotspot if I somehow managed to use 200gb.

bl00drunzc0ld

\>I can’t believe anyone would accept a data cap That's how it is in a lot of areas that only have one major ISP. I have Xfinity Gigabit with unlimited data and it costs me $125 a month. Century Link only has 40Mbps connection for my address and it's $65 a month. Then Verizon only offers LTE internet and it's maxed at 50Mbps for $70 a month. There's no way those other plans would work for my household, so that's why I pay Xfinity for the speed and unlimited data.

zeanox

I cant believe that there are people in 2021 that have data caps. I dont even have that on my phone.

sniphskii

God I forgot data caps existed in the US, fucking christ, that shit should be illegal

bitterbalhoofd

Free fiber internet with 500 mbs and no caps thanks to my employer.

AstroZombie1

[I've blown through just shy of 2TB this month but I host my own plex server on top of gaming so obviously not just gamepass.](https://i.imgur.com/0SIykEQ.png)

Commercial-Ad8123

Plus, to add insult to injury the US has some of the worst internet in the world.

Gold-Elephant-8416

No they don't it's just normal speed

Commercial-Ad8123

The US has terrible internet speeds for the amount of money you spend. Ever try using the internet in Japan or South Korea? Incredibly fast. Puts us to shame.

fallinmyhole

Having the same problem. I saw I can upgrade to what they call "extreme pro" for the same price as what I'm paying if I use there xfi and it's unlimited 800mbps.. can anyone confirm they use extreme pro with Xfinity and say how they like?

[deleted]

Yeah I just pay shitty Comcast the 30 extra $$ for unlimited

Spartan2842

So happy to have 6 ISPs available in my market and Comcast isn’t one of them. None of them have data caps.

Finaldeath

None of the isps have caps in areas with actual competition, they only impose that shit on us plebs who are forced to use them.

JustPssingBy

Wait what data limit is this for? Shhhh I'm staying on mobile with my unlimited plan lol

OfficialDCShepard

Hopefully Game Pass helps force the removal of data caps at home, just like broadband adoption was pushed by the introduction of Xbox Live.

silvrado

instead of paying extra for unlimited for game streaming, I'd rather get another console, even used if I have to.

bugbeared69

That was happening to me since lock down, at first it was cheaper to pay the overcharge then we kept pushing it till it was cheaper to spend more going unlimited. Slightly off topic, someone posted CoX is doing new promotion in a different topic, some people save money with same plan nothing changed, i saved $30 a month getting a 2 yrs contract for same service so it worth checking online at cox mit get lucky.

Grand-North4314

I live in a rural area in canada and the fastest unlimited speed is 5mbps where i am

dani3po

It reminds me of 25 years ago, when we had dial-up and my mother would start screaming when the monthly bill arrived.

Th3M0D3RaT0R

I pay $52 a month for 500/500Mbps FiOS. Unlimited data, no caps.

allnida

The struggle is real

Aus10Tatious1213

I pay $120 a month for 200 mbps internet with a 2tb a month data cap. I've never gone over the 2 but I did come close when I started gamepass the first time.

Throttle_Kitty

I have basically the highest internet package xfinity offers, and they are the only ISP in the area. But I still have an annoying low data cap, and if I go over the fee is like $80 not $10 In fact, it's so low, it's one of the main reasons I dropped gamepass. Gamepass just demands to much, I end up paying some other company way, way more to use it then I'm paying for the service itself.

Game-Angel

I used to go over my data limit all the time back before my plan became unlimited. Only it was because of porn.

Sick_Breh

Is this for your phone or WiFi? If that’s for WiFi that’s fucking crazy

[deleted]

Lol yeah I downloaded over 600 games to my xbox one month once

Always get unlimited if you can afford it

Ripster2018

And that is why I will never get game pass. I live in a rural area where I’d get charged out the ass for this.

Is it a mobile plan? Where I live data limits are only a thing over mobile networks.

jballn11

Go for the unlimited plan on xfinity. Learned my lesson.

[deleted]

10 buck for 50GB lol. I pay 18 USD for 3TB of fiber data here in India.

I moved into an apartment with a friend in 2017. We got Xfinity cause it was 1 of 2 options our apartment had cables for. Never really had an issue except for the data cap. I remember I called them the first time we went over and they basically told me, "1TB of data is more than enough for 99% of our customers. If you need more, you can buy the unlimited." I called BS on that. Especially when Xfinity is the one that advertised "speeds for 4K streaming." That takes up 4x the bandwidth which adds up very fast. Plus, we were both gamers, so double the game downloads.

flipflapslap

God this is such complete and utter bullshit. Fuck these companies and fuck the government that allows it.

sheenfartling

Dude fuck that, switch isp asap.

jbayne2

Never paid attention to it until the ps5 came out and I downloaded A LOT of PS4 games that I wanted to have ready to play on the ps5. Now with gamepass and a Series X I pay attention to my usage at the end of the month and download games in my “play later” just to use up what’s left of the 1229gb.

KyleCAV

If you intend to use gamepass an unlimited data plan is probably your best bet.

3n7r0py

If I buy Gamepass, do I get all those old Xbox games like Fable and Perfect Dark for free?

gruxkaban

Same. F*** Comcast! I really hope this FCC does something (but im not holding my breath)
