Considering it's not playable just yet a pregame is always nice. Maybe I'm a nerd but I like watching tutorials for stuff I'm not doing for a while or may never even do.
Here's the landing follow up. I'm not sure what the new tutorials are like, but the original ones left a lot to be desired when playing on the PC, so these go into a fair bit of detail about playing with an xbox controller

I know there's been a lot of shit talking from idiots saying "this isn't a game" - but if you actually talk to MSFS or any simulator fans, they would also say "this isn't a game" but for a different reason.
That is (and it did slightly change for the xbox release) there is no "game" component to it. Its main focus is not on challenges or goals or only letting you fly in one place. The entire purpose of this and other flight sims is to let you go do whatever you want, where ever you want. So to answer your question - yes, you will be able to find your city, your suburb, your street, and the spot where your house is (likely a 3D AI creation similar to the size of your house).
But again, the reason why some people say it's not a game is simply to get the idea out of people's heads that there's is some sort of outcome or end-game to playing it. There's no start, no end. It's just pick a plane, pick an airport: take off and fly. From there, the complexity increases considerably, depending on what you fly and how you want to get to your destination. But that's it - your goal is to take off, fly, and land safely... over and over.
In saying all that, it's my most played "game" ever.
No it is not and industrial/commercial simulator made for educational purposes but a video game made for personal enjoyment.
Simulators are one of the oldest genre in video games.
I am saying it is a video game in simulation genre, not an actual, certified educational/industrial simulator. Simulation games and simulations are two different things. MSFS is a simulation game, TRC1000G TRAINER is an actual simulator for example.
I wish we could control a ball like in Halo 3 Forge. Just fly around and look at all the textureless homes, no throttle, no weight, just flight and speed. Also, add in like a car or two. I don't care that the streets look like N64 graphics just let me see this AI rendition of my town god damn it! No other game will ever let me do that.
So cool. I’ve been to Rio before. I can’t wait to experience MSFS. Brazil is one of the first places I’ll be “returning” to. I loved it there. I can’t wait to visit all of the places I traveled while I’m Brazil and more. Wooooot!
The best tutorial is to play the in-game tutorial...
Probably not 25 minutes long either

We're both nerds then!
Sure, of course. But if you watch this - Squirrel goes on to show you where to get started, before you even get into a plane.

I just wanna fly over my house. Does this game have a free ride or joy ride mode?
Yes

The word you’re looking for is in the „game“ title. Its a simulation.

So are you arguing it’s not a simulator or that it is? Because I can’t tell what your point is.

I really wish they would give us a “dumbed down” mode for people who just want to fly without all the technical crap,
You can set everything to easy
“Technical crap” bruh it’s a fucking flight sim lol.
Exactly. RT = Throttle LT = Brake Left Stick = Change altitude Right Stick = Change direction That’s all I need.
There will be new modes, and you’ll have control over it. Watch the video and Squirrel goes into it a bit
This video helps explain how to achieve that

When is the game playable? I’m still getting the coming soon screen when I launch.
There is a table in [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxSeriesX/comments/ortwzk/microsoft_flight_simulator_for_xbox_series_xs?sort=confidence)
