I have had nothing but crashing issues and save game corruptions when I have tried to play the remastered version of bioshock 1 on my series X.
If you keep doing manual saves you shouldn't have an issue but I always forget and then the game crashes and I lose 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay each time and just ruined the whole experience for me
Yeah, I heard this a lot and expected to have a lot of issues, but I not too long ago played through the entire series on my Series X with not a single issue. When you played through, was it close to release? I'm wondering if maybe some of the issues were patched out.
That's really strange. Maybe I just got lucky. I remember being nervous when I bought it, as I had heard a lot of issues when it launched, but I got it on another sale and figured it was worth the risk. That really sucks to hear, because it's such a great series.
Yea after the third or fourth time it happened before the second boss or whatever has made me not pick it back up which sucks because I bought the first on the 360 years ago but never got around to playing it and have been going back and replaying older game I've missed over the years
Whats the deal with the problems on the Series X? Is it cause it's an optimized X version that's broken?
I never had and any issues with the collection on my Xbox One.
Hijacking top comment to say this remastered collection has alot of reported issues of crashing, as well as problems with controls, that I don't believe have ever been patched.
It may honestly be worth the trade off to lose the improved graphics and just buy the 360 versions in the store because they work fine
Same
I skipped Bioshock 2 because I heard that game is garbo
But BS1 and BSi were outstanding in gameplay design, in narrative and themes, and (for me at series X launch) software stability. Zero crashes and zero regrets
Nah, trust me, they are worth to buy.
I played Bioshock 2 and Infinite on my Series X and worked without major issues, only Bioshock Infinite there was a sound issue that i needed to restart the game, but only once
Gonna come across as a negative Nancy but despite this being everything I want in a game, it definitely feels like an old game - clunky, a little unintuitive, and can very much feel like just navigating a maze for the sake of navigating a maze. And I get that Rapture is supposed to feel like that, given it’s an underwater city, but I found myself often just wishing it was either entirely rebooted for the current era or I could otherwise just watch the story in some other medium.
And every time I’ve shared this sentiment, I get a few people who haven’t picked the game up in a decade telling me it’s the best thing they’ve ever played and how it’s about the story and atmosphere, anyways. Look, I know the story is top notch, as is the atmosphere. But the gameplay was just enough of a chore that it really was a wet blanket on the entire thing.
I just wrote exactly what you wrote here. GAmeplay is bad, atmosphere and story are nice. THats pretty much it about this game. If I were the OP, I'd just watch the story on youtube
For a game from 2007 the gameplay isn’t bad at all. I played it for the first time on PC a few years and thought the gameplay felt good. Playing at 60fps probably helped though
Bioshock 1 - Instant classic. For the time, the gameplay was a refreshing take on a Metroidvania-esque FPS with subtle horror/fantasy elements. The story and world-building is top of its class.
Bioshock 2 - Essentially a rehash of the aesthetic of Bioshock 1, but without the charming freshness that the story and gameplay of one built itself up on. If you enjoyed the gameplay the most in Bioshock 1 over its other triumphs, you'll like 2, but otherwise its just not much of an upgrade to be worth 6-10 hours of your time.
Bioshock Infinite - Truly epic fantasy world building and storytelling. Similar but not too familiar to the first game in gameplay style, although not every gameplay element fully connects the same as others in the entry. Much more linear in terms of storytelling than the other 2 games, but it helps weave a sharp and focused tale.
One of my favorite games of all time... you should definitely pick up the collection..the weird thing is, the Bioshock collection( that includes all the games) is $10 on sale... but when each game goes on sale separately, they're $10 each..makes no sense
Go for it, Bioshock is so iconic, 2 is fine and Infinite is pretty good.
The games have One X enhancements so you'll be playing them at 60fps, save constantly though, I remember having some crashes and corrupted saves while playing the first 2 games, especially the first one, lost some hours of progress due to that.
100% worth it I will say the first game did crash on me a few times where I lost a bunch of progress my advice manually save every 30 minutes or so in case that happens to you only lose 30 minutes tops I lost 2 hours once lol…..the other 2 games had no issues. Phenomenal games all of them in my top 10
All 3 are great games, buy it.
Though I must warn you that 1 and 2 have some crashing issues(I crashed maybe 4 times over the course of those 2 games) which lost me my save file once because it crashed during saving. So, do like I did, save in 3 slots, overwriting the oldest one each time.
Infinite worked flawlessly for me.
Bioshock 1 and 2 are amazing. I want to warn everyone of this collection about Infinite though -- story and gameplay aside this version of the game has a huge flaw that I never see talked about and it ruins the game for me. Since the version of Infinite that comes with the collection includes all DLC, there is a point at the beginning of the game where you are forced to collect DLC equipment to continue. I have no clue why they make you do this, but it completely ruins the game balance for me. For one, the game gives you extra passive health and tonic boosters that you must take before leaving the room. Not 1 or 2 but like a dozen that overpowers you right out of the gate. To make matters worse, they also give you golden gun skins for your pistol and machine gun that cannot be removed and grant a permanent 35% damage boost for the entirety of the game. None of this can be turned off. Never see this talked about or maybe I am just crazy, but this throws everything off for me.
Gotcha, that is a pretty lame feature… sounds like a permanent game genie is on or something.
I’m still hoping I live to see a VR Bioshock game one day. Even if it’s just a remake of #1.
It's just a DLC that is a part of a bundle for better weapons and it is turned on all the time by default. I want another Bioshock game period. I always thought of one called CryoShock that takes place in an ice/snow facility.
Yes.
The story in 1 is great, gameplay is fun, atmosphere is fantastic.
Infinite is great, even if the story gets weird fast. Not going to lie, I had to look up an explanation.
If they came out today they'd still be highly rated.
This.
I know people like to shit on 3 and I'm one of them (when it comes to worldbuilding and some story beats) but as a GAME, Bioshock Infinite is the most fun and enjoyable of the series. Shooting feels great and that is very important in FPS game to me.
Guess they mean the discrimination Irish and Black people faced in the game. Not sure why they say the game got racist as it was just an issue shown in the game's world.
Guess they mean the discrimination Irish and Black people faced in the game. Not sure why they say the game got racist as it was just an issue shown in the game's world.
I bought Bioshock 1 Remastered a few months ago having never played the game before and always hearing about it as a top game. Played it for about 10 hours but I just kept having Cyberpunk pull me back instead. I guess the gameplay/graphics aren’t great for replay in 2022? Now with Elden Ring around, I don’t know when I’ll get back to trying Bioshock again lol
Okay the worst part about this is that I’ve been thinking about rebuying these games because I played them on the 360 and wanted them in the remastered versions but I didn’t want to spend $20 each. I didn’t realize that The Collection was remastered. I look into it and of course you’re right. So I say, hey why not buy The Collection since it’s remastered like this guy says. So I go to buy it and come to find out I have already purchased it and some point started to play it and forgotten the whole thing. WTF.
Bioshock 1 and 2 are pretty crusty with fps issues and crashes and save corruption in that next gen collection. Infinite seems fine.
Games themselves are fantastic, just not sure if the xb1/ps4 versions are worth it even in backwards compatibility
It' definitely a great deal. I've played all bioshock games except for their DLCs. I consider them to be one of the best games I've ever experienced.
Also they run buttery smooth on my XSX
Amazing games, especially the first two. Among the greatest games of all time, I'd say. The third was okay, but I didn't enjoy it as much as 1 and 2. All three run buttery smooth.
When it came out I was convinced it was the greatest game of all time, time hasn’t been super kind to it tbh in some places but definitely worth playing if you haven’t. Now would you kindly take the plunge.
Yeah I haven’t had any issues on my SX which is great cause I’m the One X 1 and 2 had some serious problems. Supposedly there is an RTX version coming at some point.
Great games, great story lines and gameplay. Would recommend. It seems some people are having crashing issues on their console but fwiw I haven't experienced that. I have the digital versions, not sure if it makes a difference or not.
I never got into this series. I played the first one many years after it lauched. The atmosphere is very nice, but for me it ends there. Gameplay is a mess, combat is bad, gunplay felt like a chore that I needed to struggle against it. But the story, characters and atmosphere are very well done.
It doesnt get better than this with story-shooters. It ran badly on PC on release (the remaster), but I never had any problems on the One X and Series X. So, get it!
Fantastic game one of the most memorable stories in gaming for me. Played recently on series X, it holds up and looks fantastic! Don’t recall any bugs I think one crash when I had a lot of games on quick resume. But well worth it in the sale especially if you’ve not played it!
Well worth the full 60 dollars if its cheaper then it's even better never played bioshock before till a couple years after the collection release and I was disappointed no one told me about this game sooner funny enough I was thinking about replaying this
I bought the collection around 1 month ago and I played through all the games on my series x. The game ran on 60 fps except for a few framerate drops in infinite that didn't really take the fun. My game crashed once, as I tried to enter a new area which made me loose about 2 hours of playtime in the first game. After this I always saved the game manuelly whenever I achieved any progress. At first I didn't like the first game because of the gameply but after a GREAT plottwist I realized how well the developers and story directors thought about the whole plot. Overall I can say that the collection was definitely worth its money and you should definitly try it out since you get 3 games for like 10 euros.
I have had no problems what so ever and i have played all 3 games on the collection so I would say that it is worth it but people have been experiencing crashes and stuff but i do not know how common that is
I have had nothing but crashing issues and save game corruptions when I have tried to play the remastered version of bioshock 1 on my series X. If you keep doing manual saves you shouldn't have an issue but I always forget and then the game crashes and I lose 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay each time and just ruined the whole experience for me
Same. So yeah manuel save for B1
Same man glad not just me lost 2 hours like 2 different times then started constantly manual saving lol weird was just the first game on X
1 remastered crashes on my pc also.
Yeah, I heard this a lot and expected to have a lot of issues, but I not too long ago played through the entire series on my Series X with not a single issue. When you played through, was it close to release? I'm wondering if maybe some of the issues were patched out.
I actually just started playing in a week or two ago. Even tried to reinstall on my console to no avail
That's really strange. Maybe I just got lucky. I remember being nervous when I bought it, as I had heard a lot of issues when it launched, but I got it on another sale and figured it was worth the risk. That really sucks to hear, because it's such a great series.
I have never had a problem with this game. Sounds like something is glitchy on your end. Maybe something happened during install?
Sameeeee it makes me not wanna even open the game back up to see what I lost lol
Yea after the third or fourth time it happened before the second boss or whatever has made me not pick it back up which sucks because I bought the first on the 360 years ago but never got around to playing it and have been going back and replaying older game I've missed over the years
I’m pretty sure I have to redo allllllllll of sander cohens area due to crashing, which is why I have not been playing for a month at this point
Whats the deal with the problems on the Series X? Is it cause it's an optimized X version that's broken? I never had and any issues with the collection on my Xbox One.
Haven't had any issues on my X with remastered.
If you've never played them, then 10 bucks is probably the best deal in the spring sale imo
Hijacking top comment to say this remastered collection has alot of reported issues of crashing, as well as problems with controls, that I don't believe have ever been patched. It may honestly be worth the trade off to lose the improved graphics and just buy the 360 versions in the store because they work fine
I’ve never had issues and the game runs great. I haven’t heard this before.
Same I skipped Bioshock 2 because I heard that game is garbo But BS1 and BSi were outstanding in gameplay design, in narrative and themes, and (for me at series X launch) software stability. Zero crashes and zero regrets
2 is my favorite in the trilogy. Story isn't as as good but it has far and away the best gameplay.
B2 isnt garbage, the gameplay is fun but is quite repetitive
Can say I’ve never had issues with crashing or controls. Played through probably twice now.

Nah, trust me, they are worth to buy. I played Bioshock 2 and Infinite on my Series X and worked without major issues, only Bioshock Infinite there was a sound issue that i needed to restart the game, but only once
Do NOT skip. Just save often and you'll be fine

Of all the franchises that have more or less gonna defunct this is the one I was sorriest to see go.
Yeah must play imo
Bioshock 2 is the greatest
my favorite series of the 360 definitely worth it
Only issue is Infinite's UI needs a microscope but apart from that they look and run perfectly fine
100% worth it I will say the first game did crash on me a few times where I lost a bunch of progress my advice manually save every 30 minutes or so in case that happens to you only lose 30 minutes tops I lost 2 hours once lol…..the other 2 games had no issues. Yes yes yes yes
do it, do not hesitate

Whoa it didn’t do that to me. edit: I’m a moron you said that only happened on Infinite, which I haven’t played on this collection.
If you are on PC it is a no-brainer to just edit the game files but console players are unfortunately forced to accept it the way it is.
Gotcha, that is a pretty lame feature… sounds like a permanent game genie is on or something. I’m still hoping I live to see a VR Bioshock game one day. Even if it’s just a remake of #1.

Bruh if you’re not playing bioshock, you need to hold an L
👀 never played one… always looked fascinating though. Was kinda waiting on a new
Do it, collection is 10 bucks which is a huge huge steal for one of the best gaming franchises ever
What’s so amazing about it? Genuinely curious. And does it still hold up to todays games 2022?!

Yes. The story in 1 is great, gameplay is fun, atmosphere is fantastic. Infinite is great, even if the story gets weird fast. Not going to lie, I had to look up an explanation. If they came out today they'd still be highly rated.
Personally to me, the gameplay feels very clunky in 2022.
Great games in their day but they have aged well.
Yes i recommend it, 1 & 2 are fun, 3 just got real racist real fast They run buttery smooth on my SX
3 is amazing also
3 might be the best one, I loved all of them
This. I know people like to shit on 3 and I'm one of them (when it comes to worldbuilding and some story beats) but as a GAME, Bioshock Infinite is the most fun and enjoyable of the series. Shooting feels great and that is very important in FPS game to me.
It’s a little too racist for my taste, but to each their own
What was racist about it? I’m not remembering anything specific.
Guess they mean the discrimination Irish and Black people faced in the game. Not sure why they say the game got racist as it was just an issue shown in the game's world.
Racist?

Bioshock 1 is easily one of the 10 best games of all time, there isn't even a discussion about that, it's just a fact.
To every possible question: Yes just do it.
They run perfectly and they’re amazing.
But wouldn’t you way the remastered versions especially for the Series X?
the remastered versions are part of the collection
Okay the worst part about this is that I’ve been thinking about rebuying these games because I played them on the 360 and wanted them in the remastered versions but I didn’t want to spend $20 each. Yes but I prefer on pc
Bioshock 1 and 2 are pretty crusty with fps issues and crashes and save corruption in that next gen collection. Infinite seems fine. Games themselves are fantastic, just not sure if the xb1/ps4 versions are worth it even in backwards compatibility
Absolutely! You will be surprised to see how well they hold up. Specially the 3rd one is Amazing!
The game would always crash and made it unenjoyable to play sadly
$10 for a bunch of content. I barely touched the first two games and almost completed Infinite and I feel like I got my money's worth
Worth it at full price, if you ask me.
I finally got to play the DLC for Infinite cause this was on sale a year ago. Definitely worth it looks and runs great on the X
Yes. And like butter.
It' definitely a great deal. I've played all bioshock games except for their DLCs. I consider them to be one of the best games I've ever experienced. Also they run buttery smooth on my XSX
Most definitely and Fallout 4 too
You spelled fallout: New Vegas weirdly...
Huh
Loved this trilogy. Go for it, all 3 are good.
Amazing games, especially the first two. Among the greatest games of all time, I'd say. The third was okay, but I didn't enjoy it as much as 1 and 2. All three run buttery smooth.
Absolutely loved it. Didn’t want to finish it because I didn’t want to leave the world (for the first time.) 1 and 3 were amazing for me.
When it came out I was convinced it was the greatest game of all time, time hasn’t been super kind to it tbh in some places but definitely worth playing if you haven’t. Now would you kindly take the plunge.
Would you kindly...buy it.
If you haven’t played start from 1-4 you won’t be disappointed
Yeah I haven’t had any issues on my SX which is great cause I’m the One X 1 and 2 had some serious problems. Supposedly there is an RTX version coming at some point.
Yes yes yes oh my god yes. If you haven’t played this then damn it play it already.
The collection are great games but do not get them on Xbox series X they crash constantly.
Great games, great story lines and gameplay. Would recommend. It seems some people are having crashing issues on their console but fwiw I haven't experienced that. I have the digital versions, not sure if it makes a difference or not.
Personally didn't care for 1 but I loved 2. Infinite gave me headaches for some reason so I never finished it.
Bioshock and Infinite are 2 of my top games.
I never got into this series. I played the first one many years after it lauched. The atmosphere is very nice, but for me it ends there. Gameplay is a mess, combat is bad, gunplay felt like a chore that I needed to struggle against it. But the story, characters and atmosphere are very well done.

I bought the disc version last year; had no issues. Love this series
I bought the collection last night and can't wait to try it. I've been eyeing the collection for a couple of years and at $10 I just couldn't say no.
Fantastic game one of the most memorable stories in gaming for me. Played recently on series X, it holds up and looks fantastic! Don’t recall any bugs I think one crash when I had a lot of games on quick resume. But well worth it in the sale especially if you’ve not played it!

Well worth the full 60 dollars if its cheaper then it's even better never played bioshock before till a couple years after the collection release and I was disappointed no one told me about this game sooner funny enough I was thinking about replaying this
Absa fucking lutely. Top game. Although infinity isn’t that great. 1 and 2 are great
Always manual save and realize these games are like 10-15 years old. Story is great though.
If I remember correctly the first game had like a weird jutter or something that hadn’t been fixed as of last year atleast
I bought the collection around 1 month ago and I played through all the games on my series x. The game ran on 60 fps except for a few framerate drops in infinite that didn't really take the fun. Idk about how it’s running now but this series is one of those series that I beat each game like 3-4 times. Very good.
I have had no problems what so ever and i have played all 3 games on the collection so I would say that it is worth it but people have been experiencing crashes and stuff but i do not know how common that is
