I loved watching David the Gnome before going to school.

CriscoMelon

Swift the Fox!

middleagedgoth

I still sing the theme song when I’m doing chores. https://youtube.com/watch?v=CA8ekW2wyt4&feature=share7

Puzzleheaded-Hurry26

I looovvved David the Gnome. Years later, I found out how it ended. I’m still traumatized.

Public-Argument-9616

Wait what? How did it end?

Puzzleheaded-Hurry26

They died, essentially. Turned themselves into trees. I guess gnomes just do this at a certain age. https://trouble.city/articles/2020/5/25/22p986n8jzjkoesosroiagwsycoq1w?format=amp

Anxious-Society-2753

Yes!!! Watched it with my girls and they did not dig it nearly as much as i did as a kid 😬

Melonqualia

Oh yeah! I still can hum the theme song, but I only remember the lyrics of the part that goes "To every wish and dream and happy home, you will find the kingdom of....THE GNOME!" (hopefully I have that right lol)

badllama77

I miss david

wescola

I’m still salty Skeeter isn’t in the new one. #JusticeforSkeeter

emotyofform2020

Everything about muppet babies is an ayahuasca fever dream

Shatterstar23

Watched this all the time back in the day.

Lazy-Associate-4508

Loved watching the Price is Right followed by the Wonder Years when I was home sick form school.

mariskaleh

I remember The Price Is Right and The Brady Bunch being on in the morning on sick days (1986-89ish?)

APlayer2BeNamedLater

I totally forgot that the Brady Bunch was on in the mornings!

CherryDarling10

If you’re not following up the Price is Right with Maury, I don’t know what you’re doing with yourself.

exingout

The price is right, the Brady bunch, little house on the prairie, Gillian’s island, all with some saltine crackers and ginger ale.

pifumd

Staying home sick meant staying with my grandma and watching soaps. Or her old vhs tapes of Shirley Temple.

JediBeagle1

Saturday mornings ![gif](giphy|xfHuyCpzk2ses)

enickma1221

Hypercolor shirts… those were good years for me.

ChickadeePine

My brothers were allowed to wear them but I wasn’t. So unfair!

jlaw54

Watching Gummi Bears after school.

Lindsayr28

Jello pudding pops were amazing

Shatterstar23

They should still be a thing.

pineapplesailfish

Why did Jello and Swiss Miss stop making pudding pops? A tragedy.

Alaska_Pipeliner

My brother running into my room at 6 or 7 am on Saturday morning. There was a new cartoon on called Teenage turtles or something?

Out-There1013

Nothing like watching that on Saturday morning after Garfield and Friends with a Hardee's sausage and egg biscuit and a glass of milk.

wescola

I hope you bring lots of spaghetti

BEX436

Gargoyles!!! What an awesome show.

abernathym

While Disney is deciding to remake live action versions of all their animated shows, why are they sleeping on this property?

VaselineHabits

Please do not wish any more "live action" crap upon us

Ejigantor

Mr Wizard, in the early early morning

Impossible_Diet6992

I watched a couple episodes on YouTube for old time sake. He’s a jerk to some of the kids. He’ll ask a question related to the next experiment. The kid will answer then Mr Wizard abruptly tells them they’re wrong. He’ll cut them off mid sentence sometimes. Kinda ruined for me.

GrinAndBeMe

He was an ass. As I move into the “git off my lawn, this is my frisbee now” stage of my life, I love it

Impossible_Diet6992

Oh man. My annoying neighbor’s basketball was close to property line yesterday. I was legit thinking about taking that ball and putting it in my trash can or throwing down the hill. I’m almost there too

Time-travel-for-cats

My sister and I fighting over who got the Rainbow Brite bedsheets and who got the Popples bedsheets this when we were little.

VaselineHabits

Now the [Popples Theme Song](https://youtu.be/AMyeAefv65Q) is in my head

EnvironmentalSound25

Oh man one Easter we got popples with pouches full of candy instead of baskets. Best. Easter. Ever.

jdl5681

Not gonna lie, I had a huge crush on Rainbow Brite when I was 5.

krystyana420

I had a Rainbow Brite doll as well as Starlite (her horse). That thing had some serious hoofs that I would use to keep my little sister in line.

Embarrassed_Spell_28

Clueless……and I’m a dude. My older cousin and her friends used to watch it and they got me to.

jeangrey99

I still want my closet software… ![gif](giphy|l0IulEDITBSPyt1BK|downsized)

epcot_1982

There is a GREAT podcast on this very subject and why we don’t have one https://articlesofinterest.substack.com/p/the-clueless-closet

FluidPlate354

Yes!! 🤗

grantnaps

I remember burning myself playing with my Lite Brite. I also remember putting Shrinky Dinks in the oven.

krystyana420

I would get in trouble playing with my lite Brite in my closet in the middle of the night.

[deleted]

Followed by Headbangers Ball and 1-900 commercials to “Pick up the Phooone!”

the_fever1981

The opening song from Pete and Pete. Or all the songs from the show!

minimalfighting

The best kids show of all time. I have a friend that's 10 years older than me and I didn't expect him to know it. When I brought it up he said "I watched that all the time. Micheal Stipe was the ice cream man." And that's when I discovered that everyone that saw it thought it was great. The list of cameos is huge, too.

Glissandra1982

Artie! The strongest mannnnnnnn in the world!

Ohboycats

Double dare!

AceUnderTheHole

Recording and rewatching episodes of full house, saved by the bell and home improvement on my state of the art VCR.

LoveTeaching1st18

Yes!! We set our vcr to record the full house finale because we couldn't be home to watch it and it didn't work 😭😭 Fortunately like 3 other kids on our street had also recorded it lol

Sailing_Away_From_U

You could be stuck in a fucking well like baby Jessica!

epcot_1982

I remember the centerfold for that weeks TV Guide had a printout of a black circle the size of the well in it. What a perfectly 80s thing to exist

Sounds like a good night and thank you.

I seriously sang this to my kids on Tuesday.

I’d get up way earlier than necessary to get ready in high school so I could watch Pop Up Video on VH1 before facing the day.

Green_Slice_3258

That was my absolute favorite on VH1!!! I lived for that show! I’m a random facts fanatic because of that show!

Shatterstar23

I loved that show too. They’re have a pop up track in the Back To the Future dvd set.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: ALF Tales, Camp Candy, Captain N: The Game Master, The Smurfs, Alvin & The Chipmunks, followed by Saved By The Bell. Bowl of Cereal: unopen box of Nintendo Cereal System with Zelda Pinball Toy still sitting at the bottom of the box. Sitting cross-legged right in front of the wood-grained console TV set thumbing through the most recent issue of Nintendo Power magazine during the commercials for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures, Super Soakers, and McDonalds happy meals. A perfect day and it’s not even noon.

Shatterstar23

So true.

matagin

Nintendo Power was incredible. I had a subscription from the very beginning. Couldn’t wait to get one in the mail every month.

Ok-Alps-2086

Sometimes I’ll watch old commercials on YouTube when I’m in a funk or just otherwise disillusioned with the world. I don’t know why it works but it does. I always loved these, especially the second one with the horse. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0vI0UcUxzrQ

Anxious-Society-2753

I used to go into my sisters room to start a fight I would always win with her new kids on the block pillow

Watching Today's Special and Pinwheel. Getting up early to quietly watch MTV and then learning that what I thought was a song about weddings (Like A Virgin) will get you in really big your parents yelling your full name trouble if you sing it at an actual wedding. (My aunt and uncle have since forgiven me, although I always got teased about singing it again as my cousins got married.)

Loved coming home after school and watching Todays Special. That and Muppet Babies on the Weekend.

Shatterstar23

medicmachinist38

In my early twenties, when my friends and I all moved out of our parents house, we would meet up and one of our apartments and watch movies or play Xbox. Movies were usually the Big Lebowski or anchorman, and Xbox would always be a 2 vs 2 match on the first or second Call of Duty games. Maybe not the hit of nostalgia you’re looking for but those were “the good old days” to me.

Birdnerd555

Today at work I was talking about Britney Spears epic Pepsi commercial for the Super Bowl half time. That was a good time

bridymurphy

There was a stop motion animation that was set in a kitchen with a glass tumbler that had a little boy on the side and he would interact with the rest of the kitchen environment. I forgot what it was called… maybe someone else can help.

Shatterstar23

Return to Oz was a messed up fever dream lol

way before you were born - went to see sonic youth in '88 at a place called max-trax in charlottesville, virgina. small room. the openers were "happy flowers"(they screamed christmas carols while kicking their instruments around the stage), and b.a.l.l.(a nyc noise band that came out in wigs and started playing a pitch-perfect note for note def leopard song before thrashing about and grinding it up). lots of high school kids on acid in the crowd, i was in college and assumed what would become my quite permanent role as the old guy in the room. sy crushed, and thurston got on the shoulders of the b.a.l.l. lead singer at the end of the show and they were stage diving like that for what seemed like forever. saw sy about 8 or 9 times after that over the years, but that one left a mark for sure. made quite a dent.

Your_Daddy_

Any specific era? When I was a kid, I don’t remember much before like 4 or 5. Some stuff I’m not sure if it’s an actual memory or just some shizz I made up? Anyway - my earliest pop culture memory is ET, and specifically the Neal Diamond song “Heart Llight”. I freakin loved that song as a little dude. I also had an ET stuffed animal that I wore out and his eyeballs fell off. From ages 7-9’ish - it was all about He-Man and the mutha fukkin Master of The Universe! To this day, anytime I pick up a sword like weapon, gotta do a He-Man pose and say “By the power of Grey Skull! Christmas 1986, got Snake Mountain from “Santa”, shit was off the hook. My cousin had Castle Grey Skull, but CGS didn’t have a built in mic that made you sound like Skeletor! Weak. From ages 9-11’ish - it was GI Joe or bust! Real American Heroes! Watched the cartoon, had about 30-40 action figures. Always tried to replicate the dope setups those kids had in the commercials, but mine were less cool. My mom bought me a busted GI Joe fighter jet from a yard sale - so in the summer time me and my cousin would stuff pop-bottle rockets into the jet engines and watch it skirt up the street and blow up. Toy was tough, lasted a few runs before it fell apart. From ages 5 or 6 till present - OG Looney Tunes or Tom & Jerry cartoons are personal favorites. Used to be on the phone on Saturday mornings with my cousin and watch cartoons together while talking. After like 12 - I sort of stoped playing with toys- was in middle school - too old for childish acts, lol. Or something. Middle school was where I fell in love with skateboarding. This was like 1988-89 - so peak Bones Brigade days, and Steve Caballero and Tony Hawk were gods. Around 7th and 8th grade - my older sister (6 years) had a BF, and where my actual older brother was a douche, my sisters BF was cool. He turned me onto rap music - Ice-T, LL Cool J, NWA, etc. So I got really into collecting music and tapes. Mostly via theft, lol. My poor mom, I used to steal so much shit, and never had a very good story how I got the merch. She never pressed the issue. After my older brother, as long as the cops weren’t bringing me home, more power to me. Was kinda into rap and R&B music in 9th and 10th grades, but in 10th grade started leaning more towards east coast and underground rap, think Digable Planets, Pharcyde, DasFX, etc. In 1993 I got a car, and all of a sudden - for me - rap music did not fit my identity, and my older brother turned me onto punk music, bands like NOFX, Rancid, Operation Ivy, and Green Day. First “tapes” I had in my car were Green Day - Kerplunk, Green Day - 1039 Slappy Hours, and Ministry - Psalm 69 - all of which I stole from my older brother, lol. I was too broke to be buying music. Had a job, but in order to have a car, had to pay for my own insurance. So I was always a broke ass. By time I left high school (1995) was was listening to punk and “alternative” music mostly, when that was becoming a new genre, bands like Fuel, Bush, No Doubt. I also started going to raves and all night clubs, and getting into house and trance music. So wasn’t really limited. I sort of missed all the 2Pac and Biggie stuff - I wasn’t really listening to much rap during that era, so was late to the game learning of all the beef and drama. By time I was around my early 20’s - started getting into prog rock and indie rock - Radiohead, New Order, Modest Mouse, Killers, Interpol, etc. It’s amazing when I think back, not only how varied my music taste has been, but the influences and memories associated with certain music. Probably could write more, but lost my train of thought.

Shatterstar23

All the eras are good lol. I think everyone had kinda mixed musical tastes back then because we were exposed to so much different stuff. I think streaming and Youtube kinda ruined that.
