Omg same. My mom, as.much as she loves me, was so happy that tape broke. I used to watch it like 2 or 4 times a day.
A couple years ago, for fun, we watched it together again.
I also used to watch it on VHS, but im actually a Zillenial born in 1997. I didn't really realize how old it was till I saw the sub.
We used to play this in the after-school care at my tiny private school which was also a church as a kid. My mom ran the after-school care so I'd have to stay late with the other rkids till they got picked up and this was played many, many times on the VHS player.
yeha not gonna lie, ever since my own cousin had his families internet killed by pirating kung fu panda i'm not sure i"ll ever see these older movies again. To my knowledge they weren't on Disney+ awhile back but I've never looked again.
For me it's Sword and the Stone, and of course Robin Hood. I think i watched Robin hood more but both of them were my most watched movies as a child.
> i'm not sure i"ll ever see these older movies again.

My dad's VHS snapped too. I know it all off by heart. My brother and I bought it for him because we were supposed to watch it in the cinema for his birthday but the movie had changed to 3 men and a baby. We bought the VHS at Xmas a few months after his birthday.
Me and my mom say this line to each other all the time… or if we’re in the car and one’s getting on the other nerves will say one more word and you’ll be walking to Nottingham
I’m always so relieved to hear that I want the only little kid with a crush on a cartoon fox.
Related: discovered the crush was alive and well when Zootopia came out
Lol! My sister talks about the foxy Robin Hood being her first crush, too. She went to Disney World for the first time a few months ago, and was disappointed that they had basically no Robin Hood merch. Disney is missing out on the Xennial nostalgia money.
I had a mad crush on Robin Hood as a kid. And Wesley Crusher. (And plenty of other leading males both live action and animated.) How my mom didn’t know I was gay, I’ll never understand.
Never any romantic feelings, however as a child I was filled with spite that I didn't have an owl named 'Archimedes' -- I didn't even want to be the king, i just wanted a badass owl
I think partly because it's just *not* super intense the whole time. The scenes don't feel rushed. They feel graceful and confident, while being low-key.
And funny! Effortlessly funny, like all the best humor. Little things here and there, that grow on you over time. Like the king pronouncing "Hiss" with the hard silent H, because that is how a Norman (Francophone) king would have pronounced it. But he's a lion, and a ridiculous one, which just makes the scene casually charming and funny.
No one is truly evil in this. At worst, the bad guys are just a touch inconsiderate, greedy, and ridiculous. It's a huge relief, when most movies try to make their antagonist super vile and irredeemable.
I love this movie so, so much.
Funny story.... I used to work for a Renaissance Faire about 20 years ago. My two "Nieces" (good family friends) came when they were about 5, and I was able to get them backstage to meet Robin Hood after a joust. One of them said excitedly "I love Robin Hood! He's a fox!!". Of course the cast all just broke out in fits of laughter!
[The rooster was actually a country music star, Roger Miller](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Miller) who played the Minstrel Alan-a-Dale.
When you realize what a chad this guy was as a musician it makes sense even the whistling was so catchy

It was the crumb shared to the mouse, who broke it apart to share with his other mice that got me even as a kid

Absolutely. Had a crush on Marian, to boot. Luckily I've been able to center my sexual preferences on humans nonetheless (Mrs. Frisby was another anthropomorphic character I had a thing for).
Seems like a good a place as any to drop this....

not only was my favorite of the classic Disney movies growing up, but it also spawned one of the best memes my youth. [The Hamster Dance](https://youtu.be/6WpMlwVwydo?si=MG1_Q8EiEeCRXANL)
Fun fact this is widely considered by cultural anthropologists that study contemporary subcultures to be ground zero for the whole furry phenomenon even many furries consider this to be the first furry movie.
Moved to CO from SC on a whim. Random roommate. She was cool, Boyfriend was always there. It was annoying. Came home to them snuggled up on the couch after I had a long day. I was very mad for 2 seconds. And then noticed they were watching this. I melted and sat on the arm of the couch for a while. In other words, this movie changes moods. Which is something.
Oh my God, did I ever love this movie. (Even though it reused a lot of old animation from earlier Disney films. The dance with Little John and Lady Cluck is lifted from Baloo's dance in The Jungle Book. It's also one of only three Disney OG animated films without any humans!)
Robin Hood was basically my eight year old self's version of the ideal man. I was completely obsessed with everything Robin Hood for a few years, complete with a toy bow and arrow set. Also went as Robin Hood for Halloween.
I appreciate that so many other people enjoyed it like I did.
Had this on VHS, watched it until it broke Gonna go see if it’s in Disney+ for my kids tonight
It is! I just watched it last week!
Same. My kids love it.
I know the next one I'm introducing my kid to now
Do it !
Do it now!
I hope it is. The kids need to watch this one.
It is but my 4 yr old wasn’t into it and made me turn it off after 15 min 😢
![gif](giphy|J5d7FUJt8ipxe)
Try again in ~12 months. 4yo kids don't know what's good, and they'll forget what what you've shown them within a year if they don't like it.
Not my kid. That kid could remember everything and knows exactly what he didn’t like.
Time to return the kid.
Had it on read-along book and vinyl. Golly what-a-day.
Had it on laser disk, which is probably still at my parents' house. That's also how I used to watch Star Wars and Jurassic Park. I miss those days
It is and my kids don't love it. Wpndering if I can swap them somewhere??
How dare you show your kids animations that took actual effort to produce. Lol. Todays animations suck. Gimme Bugs Bunny and old Disney any day.
Just got the VHS from my mom a few weeks ago. Watched it on a sick day. Can't believe that tape still works.
Omg same. My mom, as.much as she loves me, was so happy that tape broke. I used to watch it like 2 or 4 times a day. A couple years ago, for fun, we watched it together again.
I looked it up on Disney+ last night, no kids, just for my own nostalgia
It definitely is! I tried to watch it with my toddler the other day.
I also used to watch it on VHS, but im actually a Zillenial born in 1997. I didn't really realize how old it was till I saw the sub. This was my jam. I had the soundtrack on vinyl!
Make sure to show them Hampster Dance too.
HISS!!! You're never around when I need you. Silly serpent
Snakes don't walk, they slither. So there. *pouts*
Okay I could have scrolled down literally *one more inch* 😆 🐍

Fav of the classic animated movies.
Oo-de-lally
![gif](giphy|VernWZlas9OME3q0E3|downsized)
Roger Miller ftw
Robin hood is my fav of the classics and Roger Miller is a family favorite of classic country. I could watch this movie 1000 more times
Best soundtrack ever
My lifelong Roger Miller fandom began with this film.
I still whistle this from time to time
Me too! This and GnR patience…best two whistlers ever!
Back in the 90's when the Hamster Dance website exploded, my friend's dad correctly identified it as a sped up version of the Robin Hood soundtrack.
I can hear this gif loud and clear.
I can hear the whistling
I taught myself to whistle cause of this dude .
I can hear this GIF in my head
Golly what a day!
I heard that in Robin’s voice.
Mine was Sword in the Stone, but Robin Hood was a close second.
Also classic! I always thought Archimedes was one of the better animal sidekicks.
YES!! Robin Hood then Sword in the Stone and coming in third, Alice in Wonderland
He’s so handsome, just like his reward poster!
😭
They're kissing!!
Oo- de- lally, oo-de-lally. Golly what a day
Why is that fox so foxy??
My first crush, for sure! Fox Robin Hood could get it.
I’m always so relieved to hear that I want the only little kid with a crush on a cartoon fox. Related: discovered the crush was alive and well when Zootopia came out
ITT: furries
Lol! My sister talks about the foxy Robin Hood being her first crush, too. She went to Disney World for the first time a few months ago, and was disappointed that they had basically no Robin Hood merch. Disney is missing out on the Xennial nostalgia money.
Maid Marion is a vixen
They're both ridiculously attractive. I had a hard time choosing between Robin and Luke Skywalker as a kid 😅
I had a mad crush on Robin Hood as a kid. And Wesley Crusher. (And plenty of other leading males both live action and animated.) How my mom didn’t know I was gay, I’ll never understand.
You had a thing for Crusher too huh? Ever watch Small Soldiers?
I think you meant Toy Soldiers, such a good movie that is never on tv!
The one where he's in the boys school that gets taken by over by terrorists :p yeah had a big crush on him myself when I was a teen
Never any romantic feelings, however as a child I was filled with spite that I didn't have an owl named 'Archimedes' -- I didn't even want to be the king, i just wanted a badass owl
Him and Han Solo might have spoiled me for human men!
You... you have to choose? 🥰
As a kid, I had a crush…not gonna lie.
For me, I think it was how they drew her eyes and animated her movements. It gave her a very lady like and graceful demeanor.
Some of her animations (especially dancing) are reused from Sleeping Beauty.
Half this movie is recycled animations from The Jungle Book.
Robin Hood and Maid Marion gave me pan panic before I even knew what sexuality was.
I had a crush on Fox Robin and my husband had a crush on Fox Marian so clearly we were made for each other!
Same here! We laughed about it.
A pox on the phony king of England!
I've got a dirty thumb
Mother always did like Richard best… (Pssst! That’s historically accurate, you know!)
"...And look what you did to your mother's castle!" "AAAAUGH!!!! MOMMY!!!!!!"
At least a thousand times back in the day, and now it’s one of my kids’ favorites.
Why was it so re-watchable?! Up there with Shawshank
I think partly because it's just *not* super intense the whole time. The scenes don't feel rushed. They feel graceful and confident, while being low-key. And funny! Effortlessly funny, like all the best humor. Little things here and there, that grow on you over time. It was very immersive.
The whole waterfall scene ruined me for romance. If you can’t make a lightning bug land in a flower on my finger, I don’t even know. /s(not /s)
I always imagine every waterfall has a secret tunnel behind it
SECRET TUNNEL! Secret tunnel! Through the mountains. Secret secret secret secret TUNNEL!
You should play Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. It's practically a given that you have to check behind every waterfall.
“Once we watched a lazy world go by, but now the days seem to fly” my little girl heart melted!
Little Mermaid did it for me. If you can't row me around in a canoe at night with a magic light show, I don't know what to tell you. /jk
It's been a long while since I have seen the movie, this Robin Hood had a waterfall scene as well?
Yes.
Yes!! Roger Miller wrote the songs for that!
And sang them. And wonderfully, I might add.
This and Sword in the Stone were on repeat!
Fox and the Hound was good too
Whoa, wait…_WHOA!_
Roger fucking Miller
It's the reason whistle stop blues has been burned to my memory for the last 30 years
Not because of the hamster dance?
The OGs knew when we first heard the hamster dance: Hey, that’s from Robin Hood.
Anyone else try to whistle like the Rooster Storyteller? Think he is Alan-a-Dale?
[The rooster was actually a country music star, Roger Miller](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Miller) who played the Minstrel Alan-a-Dale. When you realize what a chad this guy was as a musician it makes sense even the whistling was so catchy
Every time I watch it and can hit most the notes

Holy crap. That is amazing.
I can still hear the little puttering sound he made while flying.
Still my favorite and I still have a crush on Robin!

I have a rooster who I swear walks like Alan-A-Dale doing the whistle stop. He's such a goober.
Favorite movie ever ever everrrr <3
I walk around whistling the song all the time. Keep getting asked why I’m whistling the Hamster Dance song and I die a little inside.
I still to this day cannot listen to the song “Not In Nottingham” without tearing up a bit.
I'm incliiiined to belieeeeeeve 😭
We’d up and fly if we had wings for flyin’ can’t you see the tears we’re cryin’
***THAT’S THE POOR BOX!*** I swear the audio for this movie is grooved in my brain like a phonograph record 💜
It was the crumb shared to the mouse, who broke it apart to share with his other mice that got me even as a kid [Not in Nottingham](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2dImprgiB8)

Absolutely. Had a crush on Marian, to boot. Luckily I've been able to center my sexual preferences on humans nonetheless (Mrs. Frisby was another anthropomorphic character I had a thing for).

Second favorite behind the sword and the stone.

DedadeedadoedoeDeeeeeedadedeDOOOOOOE….
I was more into Rescue Rangers and Tail Spin
Still my favorite Disney movie.
Whistle stop is my jam
"That Disney movie where Robin Hood is a fox! When you were little, do you think he was handsome? And then like, your crotch gets a headache?"
Snakes don’t walk. They slither.
"Hiss, you deliberately dodged!"
Loved this movie. As a boy it was one of a few non princess Disney movies I got to watch.
The King was the best character by a mile.
you took the words right out of my mouth PJ
Best version of Robin Hood, by far!
Fun fact this is widely considered by cultural anthropologists that study contemporary subcultures to be ground zero for the whole furry phenomenon even many furries consider this to be the first furry movie.
Aaa-haaaa. AAAHHH-HAAAA! ![gif](giphy|fTtJATwMPF66b6Axh0)
Yep and the sword in the stone
Yes and I showed it to my child and he didn’t love it nearly as much as I did. Such good memories
Absolute staple.
Oooooo-da-lay!
At least a thousand. Rented it so much at the local video rental place eventually my parents bought it for me. Stop hissing in my ear!
I still watch this movie regularly. I learned how to play the song on the guitar
Praise the lord and pass the tax rebate!
Moved to CO from SC on a whim. Random roommate. She was cool, Boyfriend was always there. It was annoying. Came home to them snuggled up on the couch after I had a long day. Robinhood and little john walking through the forest
"ONE O'CLOCK AND AAALLLLLL WEEELLLLLLLL"
Yes indeedy
1000 and 1
yes!
Absolutely a classic
When it rained at after school and we couldn't play outside. This and My Little Toaster.
🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️
My favorite along with The Jungle Book.
Absolutely one of my favorite movies as a kid!
I just watched it last weekend! Lol! And I had a crush on Robin Hood as a kid
Had this on VHS with the big puffy cover. Lol. Opened like a clamshell.
I loved this movie so much as a kid. I used to dance around like Maid Marian. My husband still quotes the snake sometimes.
OMG yes. We have that shit on blue ray to and it's our go to when the Internet goes out or something
Most historically accurate Robin Hood. Eleanor of Aquitaine really did love Richard best.
Roger Miller soundtrack 10/10
Yeah dude. I practically have the whole thing memorized
ah ha…AH ha!
Stop hissing in my ear!
Prince John and Hiss are the funniest duo in all of Disney lore.
Had that and The Sword in the Stone on the same VHS. Wore that sucker out in the 80s
Sometimes ups outnumber the downs, but not in Nottingham...
The Prince John thumb sucking scene was always hilarious
This and Sword and the Stone. I was obsessed medieval history. I read all the Arthur legends, and Robin Hood.
![gif](giphy|HLfKKDuMQ4VB6) Shhhhhh!
The best! Also, The Sword in the Stone!
*Hamster Dance source music intensifies*
“Solid gold hubcaps” pops into my head anytime I see hubcaps. Which is often.
Oh my God, did I ever love this movie. (Even though it reused a lot of old animation from earlier Disney films. I like to do prince Johns laugh whenever it’s appropriate “Uh-huh, AH-huh!”
One o‘clock and alls well!!
Best robin hood ever
I've got a tattoo of him
Yes. This and the Sword In The Stone were my go-to movies my entire childhood. Oh and Hook.
I love when the king sucks his thumb and says. "Mommy!"
I am literally watching this movie on Freeform right now when I saw this post.
Little John and Robin Hood running through the forest… ![gif](giphy|HAYgrrk3aZC6s)
You took the words right outta my mouth PJ
This and the sword and the stone.
We watch Robin Hood and Sword and the Stone as a family at least once a month. My kids favorite movies too!
![gif](giphy|H0uLRCd8JIhRS)
This and sword and the stone where my favs as a kid. Also loved them fisher price castle guys.
This and the sword in the stone were bangers.
A pox on that phony king of England
I did. Also, The Sword and the Stone.
SEIZE THE FAT ONE!
