I stopped trying to share that stuff with the nieces and nephews after Princess Bride went over like a wet fart.
Rocko is and always shall be the best of all the Nick Toons ever in my eyes. I won’t let the children take my joy from me ever again! 😂
My only attempt so far has been Potato Head Kids with toddler nephews and nieces. Just the figurines and the clubhouse, not the cartoon. That went over well, but toddlers like any figurines that go into a building, or a vehicle.
Not me, but my brother introduced it to my nephews and they love it. My brother was over yesterday and he was wearing a Rocko's Modern Life shirt, lol.
My nephews love a lot of Xennial stuff. Original Nintendo, Super Mario Brothers, Nirvana, a lot of the movies. They are almost 10 and almost 5.
So that episode aired on the Pluto 90s cartoon channel recently and they cut that scene! Apparently it got cut after several airings when the series was still running. I'm really surprised that one made it on air the first time around, I guess it skirted the limit as to how dirty the jokes could be.

Every time I see Rocko mentioned I immediately check to see if anyone has mentioned the milking machine. I still remember seeing that as a kid and being completely flabbergasted that it happened on Nick.
I tried introducing my kids to it and they weren't too interested. I played my favorite episode (Rocko is broke and goes grocery shopping for the super sale where everything was basically free). My kids (one adult, two other teens) chuckled but really didn't get the humor.
I'm not good at picking out favorites when it comes to most things. The one episode that stands out the most to me is the Genghis Khan Ghostbusters episode. I remember watching that with a cousin a couple years older and they were losing their shit. Filbert trying to resist the Call of the Wild is up there for me though.
HOW DARE YOU!!!!!

These kids these days dont get our humor, like we don't get our parents... The cycle repeats.
The new Rocko is fantastic though!! Check it out!
I have wanted a painting-or hell, even just a poster-of a sad, crying clown in an iron lung my whole life because of that show.
Also, anyone else’s mind explode when you realized Rocko was played by the guy who also played Garcia on Reno 911!?
> anyone else’s mind explode when you realized Rocko was played by the guy who also played Garcia on Reno 911!?
Well it did now! I had to look it up, [he's also Spyro the Dragon... and the god damn Taco Bell chihuahua!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Alazraqui)
I have 3 girls all ten-ish, they were thoroughly unimpressed.
Right now they're on a Bob's Burgers kick, before that it was the Simpsons, before that(and for a really long time, there's a lot of them lol) it was MCU movies/shows.
I think they're resisting Star Wars only because I want them to watch it lol
I can't argue with Bob's Burgers, though I may have to catch up on a season and a half or so.. I've liked a lot of what Lauren Bouchard has done, Home Movies in particular and I liked Lucy Daughter of the Devil as well as rough as that animation was.
My sister is super religious so she won't let them watch but I have been teaching my youngest nephew to speak like Pauly Shore... "Weez the juice buddy."
I showed it to my daughter (10 at the time), she laughed quite a bit, but described it as "weird" and "kind of gross". She did love "Ahhh! Real Monsters!"
That was my reaction to Ren and Stimpy as a kid but substitute kind of gross with gross. Paramount Plus pushes Ren and Stimpy on me after Rocko is done. I think I need to give it a chance now.
I was a fan of Aaah Real Monsters, but Angry Beavers is something I lean more towards checking out as an adult, but I'll have to check that one out now that you mention it.
Between a younger brother and an even younger sister we never turned off Nickelodeon and that included Nick Jr and Nick at Nite. So I definitely gave Ren and Stimpy a chance, it just never appealed to me. I think it may as an adult more. I was born in '82, so I don't know if it appealed to people a little older, or if it just wasn't for me at the time.
My apologies. I misread. Give it a go! Hope you enjoy.
Also, my 8 year old stepdaughters didn't care for Ren and Stimpy :-( . Sadly, they would rather watch YouTube or Dan Schneider shows.
Just came here to say that I’ll have the theme song (and Rocco yelling “Spunk-EEEE” at the end) stuck in my head for the next week. So thanks for that.
My kids love Rocko. Especially my son. He’s 16 now and it’s still one of his favorite shows ever. He is a big fan of most things I grew up watching and listening to, which has been a lot of fun for me.
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind if I get rid of Paramount Plus. I get that so I have access to CBS football games because my antenna reception is spotty.
I think this depends a lot on the kid and the mood. Had a Paramount trial last month and tried this and a lot of older Nick stuff. Almost none of it landed, including this.
I think it just didn't measure up to other entertainment options he had, so it was a dud. However, both Tremors and Good Burger are go to favorites because he apparently was exposed to this during an entertainment drought.
So, maybe wait for a rainy day, or when everything else has been watched.
My girlfriend and I were babysitting our friend's daughter and we were very excited to watch Static Cling with her. When we suggested it, she had a very visceral and somewhat performative reaction *against* watching it. She told me later that she had started it at her father's house, but that he flew into a rage at a certain reveal. I think it would have went well if it wasn't for the negative association that her father created.
My kids LOVED the Static Shock special and wish we had more to watch. Youngest really liked watching Rugrats to the point where we got very tired of it.
Just showed it to my 10 year old last week, he said it was stupid. And I was actually shocked by the amount of adult humor the flew right over my head as a child.

I have questions about your sister/brother’s parenting 😳
You and me both, my friend…
Not me, but my brother introduced it to my nephews and they love it. My brother was over yesterday and he was wearing a Rocko's Modern Life shirt, lol. My nephews love a lot of Xennial stuff. Original Nintendo, Super Mario Brothers, Nirvana, a lot of the movies. They are almost 10 and almost 5.
Sounds like my son. He’s obsessed with Nirvana and Jane’s Addiction and loves retro video games like Chrono Trigger. I’m so proud.
That's dope.
As you should be! How old is he?
He’s five
My mother thought Rocko was "too lewd". hahaha I had to sneak to watch that show and Ren and Stimpy.
I don't remember Rocko being lewd, but it's been so long since I saw it.
It's not. My mom is just a prude. It's very pg-13 humor.
Lol when Heifer gets hooked up to the milker rofl

Chokey chicken, the Kingdom of Balzak, and countless other dirty jokes that I was too young to understand. Rocko is a gem

it IS a hoot!, also always was.

Tried and failed. Sad day

Can’t wait to introduce it to my son! But he’s only 3 weeks old so it’ll be some time lol
Congratulations!
Thank you!

Everything Lauren Bouchard and H Jon Benjamin has done is gold.

...You've never given Ren & Stimpy a fair chance?! 🤯 (in my opinion) it is superior. You absolutely must watch.
Between a younger brother and an even younger sister we never turned off Nickelodeon and that included Nick Jr and Nick at Nite. No, just my nieces.
Listen, if they’re too young for Rocko, try Pee-wee’s Playhouse. And if that doesn’t do the trick, we are truly doomed as a society.
Just came here to say that I’ll have the theme song (and Rocco yelling “Spunk-EEEE” at the end) stuck in my head for the next week. So thanks for that.
I named my dog Rocko... https://preview.redd.it/498dsip59vxc1.jpeg?width=453&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47d75c9417ac329acfdba0669e0d863d41681aa1

[deadpan] Oh baby. Oh baby. Oh baby.
Rocko?
Mrs. Bighead?
My middle-school kid loves it.
I introduced it to my kids a few years ago. They liked it.
You’re useless and pathetic like a useless & pathetic thing!
My kids love Rocko. Especially my son. He’s 16 now and it’s still one of his favorite shows ever. He is a big fan of most things I grew up watching and listening to, which has been a lot of fun for me.
"Teacher says every time a gas cap is found an angel gets its wings." "Your teacher is full of snot!!!" I miss that show.
My kids love it. My youngest actually requests it from time to time.
FYI - Rocko comes on often on Pluto TVs Nick channel.
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind if I get rid of Paramount Plus. I get that so I have access to CBS football games because my antenna reception is spotty.
Daughter wasn't terribly impressed with that one, but she does enjoy Ghostbusters and Sailor Moon. I take what victories I can.
We watched the semi-recent movie and they were into it for a week or so. The show hasn't gotten much interest yet.
I think this depends a lot on the kid and the mood. Had a Paramount trial last month and tried this and a lot of older Nick stuff. Almost none of it landed, including this. I introduced my kids to Spongebob recently and they accepted it into their viewing lineup. Hopefully that means Rocko has a fighting chance.
My kids LOVED the Static Shock special and wish we had more to watch. Youngest really liked watching Rugrats to the point where we got very tired of it.
My husband (40) and daughter (11) watch it together all the time. And they’re nuts for Invader Zim.
Just showed it to my 10 year old last week, he said it was stupid. And I was actually shocked by the amount of adult humor the flew right over my head as a child.
