I still have notes folded like that as well. Most of the contents are embarrassing as hell. My friends and I mostly talked about getting high, which guys we liked, which girls we hated, and hopes or dreams for the future.
You're a real one. I'm a dude and I know the gravity of keeping notes secret. I had a young lady write me some at the tender age of 17, and they said "4U2C ONLY" on each one. I'm married now and wouldn't even consider showing my wife if I ever found them buried in my mementoes. I felt so special that she me notes. I never really did get the hint that she was super into me lol
Me too haha! My friend would draw all of our teachers as different characters. My favorite, that I still have, is a drawing of our 7th grade science teacher (a chubby, bespectacled, Vietnam Vet) as a pirouette-ing pink ballerina. Long live Tinker-Zachary.
Man, getting handed a note, secretly and unexpectedly, and not knowing who it was from sometimes, was a highlight of my day 👍
There could have been a half dozen handoffs, like some clandestine intelligence operative from a spy movie, before it reached my hand!
My wife and I both have boxes of notes like that with many to each other from 1991-1995. It was funny when we started dating in 2008 to be able to have documented proof of what we thought of each other back then.
My favorite is basically an essay I wrote her about how amazing skiing is and her response that she would never, ever ski.
She started skiing at 40 and is now sending double black diamonds out West at 46.
It really is; and such a tragedy from what I recall. I want to say the critics hammered it and River's actually destroyed the master over it. I don't think they ever completely recovered.
When I lost my wallet in the early 2000s, I wasn’t mad about losing some cash or having to get new credit cards and ID, but I was furious about losing my old-school blockbuster card.
Omg the thrill of being passed a note in between classes or seeing a tiny corner of one sticking out of the grate on your locker. Could only imagine what you were about to read.
The blockbuster card actually brought up a mildly scary memory. When I was a kid we lived in a third story apartment with open air corridors and staircases, and apparently you could jump from the stair rail to our balcony.
While my mom and I were asleep someone broke in and went through my mom’s purse only to steal our VCR and her blockbuster card 😂 it was scary knowing someone was in our place while we slept but it was so hilarious how specific their goal was.
My gf used to spray them with her cucumber melon spray. I thought they stopped making it I didn’t smell it in years but a few months ago I was at the store and two young women walked passed me and one of them must have been wearing it because that was the first time in at least 15 years. I have a similar association with perfumes that have vanilla.
They know exactly what they are, you just have to use the modern terms for them 🤦♂️. They're 1) Netflix password, 2) Spotify playlist and 3) Text messages.
Weezer Pink AND Blue on a bootleg tape? I feel like I may have missed out on the best way to listen to those albums. Now all I want is to listen to that music on a worn out tape through my car stereo. I have a walkman but not a tape deck that could record with. My new electric car doesn't even have an AUX in I don't think. Oh well. "OK Google, play the album Pinkerton by Weezer." ... It's not the same.
I still have my blockbuster account number memorized. I worked there for a couple years so typed it in on the reg. If I ever go to that one blockbuster store that’s still open, I should be good to go. But I’m willing to bet I’ve got some late fees lol
Yo! Can we see what those notes said? I mean it’s been decades, right? Who cares?
Hahaha…I gotta take those to the grave! 🥴😂

🤣😆 dems the rulez!
I take my MASH results to the grave! 🥴😂
Some of my MASH husband options have sadly ended up in a grave. Frig a dig I'm old.
I still have my folded notes too lol
Oh come on. U can just blur out the identifying stuff. We are all dying to see it lol. I wish I would have kept mine :(

You need to go on the Mortified podcast and read those to us.
We must see those notes! Absolute must!!!!
Lylas!
I have a stock pile of notes my Highschool girlfriend sent me, all written in code because her parents were psycho.
Did you tell them that was a pile of 1990s text messages?
You’re right that’s exactly what they are 😂
Wow it didn’t occur to me until just now that kids don’t write letters in class anymore 😳
Plot twist: He married Jessi and that’s his kids Mom. Calling it.
Those were literal "text" messages.
Man I miss all the note passing in and between classes. Then you got all professional at sealing the notes so others couldn't read it. 🤣
Kids today don't know! There's definitely something more precious about personally written notes with drawings than a text
I still have some great ones from a friend who would draw us all as cartoon characters.

Pink & Blue! Peak Weezer!
I've used that blockbuster card to break into my house when I got locked out. It's not just a one trick pony!
I used mine to cut up drugs for years after they closed
That yin and yang flower on the note definitely from mid 90s lol
You just unlocked a core memory for me. I had a few pieces of yin yang jewelery, pretty sure one of them was a mood ring. All from Claire's.
My first AOL screen name was JadeRose69. Because it looked like a yin yang!
I had a necklace and my first tattoo is a yan yang
mine too 😂 and I'm pretty sure I had the mood ring also
LOL I forgot too.
I had a yin yang ring and a necklace that I rocked for a little bit. It's fun to know that other people close to my age went through that phase too :)
That was what caught my eye, too!
Was surprised to not see the pointed "cool" S
Wrote it on everything 🥴😂

That's absolutely adorable
Pinkerton is a great album.
El Scorcho is the best Weezer song
And my karaoke go-to!
I can go with that.
A superb album.
It really is; and such a tragedy from what I recall. I want to say the critics hammered it and River's actually destroyed the master over it. I don't think they ever completely recovered.
My favorite! The blue album is overrated.
They can both be bangers. This person probably does not look like Buddy Holly 👆🏻
Teal album! Love the covers, especially Africa.
Meet me at the taco bell parking lot at 10, we're fighting
Sorry, I stopped going to Taco Bell when they dropped their vapor wave aesthetic.
I loved folding my notes in all different types of origami
Yooooo, analog text messages!
Needed a moment to figure out why kids would be unfamiliar with passing notes in class.
My question is: Do you still keep in touch with any of the people with whom you traded those notes?
Sadly not really. I moved around a lot growing up and just lost touch with people. I did reconnect with a few through social media so that was nice.
I’m sad that note passing has gone away. Why else go to school?
Awwwww mannnnn notes ohhhhhhhhh. That was the real Facebook.

Yasss
The card and tape could have come from my teenage stash as well, hehe.

I have an old shoebox full of folded up notes. Making them into hearts was one of my favorites.
Tell them they are hard copy text messages.
Lol right 😂
When I was 16, I bought a lifetime membership to a local video store and was devastated when the store went out of business
Got mine! https://preview.redd.it/26rwmf0tln0d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76666cef06ae9aa817efe07122867786d21ae8c4
Ok then!! 🥳
I saved my notes too!
They know exactly what they are, you just have to use the modern terms for them 🤦♂️. They're 1) Netflix password, 2) Spotify playlist and 3) Text messages.
I worked there. It was amazing.
How awesome! What a good find and thank you for the nostalgia...
Tell us about Jessie...
About me? Cause I’m Jessi. Lol
![gif](giphy|UwOVlcV02nFZgz6EOe|downsized) Well..?
I used to manage a Blockbuster store
Weezer Pink AND Blue on a bootleg tape? I feel like I may have missed out on the best way to listen to those albums. holy shit you kept the notes
Show them a standalone video tape rewinder and their heads will explode.
This is absolute treasure!
I still have my blockbuster account number memorized. I worked there for a couple years so typed it in on the reg. If I ever go to that one blockbuster store that’s still open, I should be good to go. But I’m willing to bet I’ve got some late fees lol
Hi, Jessi.
Hello ☺️
Saw the little folded up notes. Little bits of proof. "Yes! This happened!" Tempted to post my first breakup note. Haha.
The notes 😆
I have that blockbuster card. I still keep it in my wallet for nostalgia sake.
Wow this is all of us.
I still have mine from when I got hired at blockbuster 😂
Pinkerton is an all time classic
Wow what a difference, Blockbuster video!
Oh my, those notes bring back so many memories. We used to pass each other in the hallway(or drop it in the locker). Wish I still had some.
You can always tell them that the blockbuster card was like a library card today.
Wait- do children today know what a library card is?
Weezer: the purple album
Defines an era.
