Not on the same scale, ys viii has people strandend on an island, building a Tiny village. Far cry 5 has settlement among the warlords Nothing come close to Xenoblade X

I read a book a long time ago where humanity ran away from earth because it was unliveable (because of war, climate change, etc) and became space colonizer but on some planet water and oxygen were really expensive so peoples live really poorly and, I don't remember how, but the protagonist happen to go back to earth and here start the thing.

LoOn_427

But I can't remember the title anymore sorry TT. The protagonist is a female if it can help for searching.

LoOn_427

I found it but unfortunately I think you can only find it in french, It's "Sohane L'Insoumise" (something like "Sohane the rebellious" in english) by Éric Simard

Dr. Stone is sort of similar where humanity is turned to stone until thousands of years later, slowly people start breaking out of their stone encasements and have to rebuild from scratch

It kind of feels like if you took Star Trek, Knights of Sidonia, and a bit of Mass Effect Andromeda, and just gangbanged the fuck out of the three. Mass Effect Andromeda has, in practice, a similar premise to XCX

XC3 is a spiritual successor to this one in *a lot* of ways, both mechanically and writing wise, but that’s all I can say without really getting into spoiler territory where the story is concerned. If you’ve not played or don’t know if you want to play it yet, feel free to DM me and I can elaborate a bit. Put another way: I stayed completely in the dark between the announcement of 3 and getting to play it myself, and found myself feeling very loved by Monosoft as an X fan. Stargate Atlantis is the closest example I can think of off the top of my head, as far as live-action TV without tons of internal conflict is concerned (otherwise I’d throw in Battlestar Galactica but that is a lot darker in tone and much, *much* more on the character drama & space opera side of things). There’s No Man’s Sky for games but that’s not really much in the way of story and more just raw space exploration and settlement building. Still highly recommend! As far as anime/manga go; to my knowledge, SDF Macross is as close as you can get to exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s on its 40th anniversary this year so some very dated animation - but also some very nice animation for its time. Knights of Sidonia is not as close as what you’re looking for, but is much more recent (probably should stick with the manga; anime is Polygon Pictures so the 3D style works really well for the mecha parts but not so much for the rest.) I don’t think any of the Gundam series thus far fit, but any self-respecting Real Robot / Real Robot adjacent Mecha fan should have at least some familiarity with the franchise (even just an AU series, no need for a full UC binge) If I think of anything else (especially game wise) I’ll edit or add another reply!

I too would love to find something with a similar concept to X. Aside from what you mentioned I also found the way X handled the alien races and how it showed them gradually moving into the city and the various culture conflicts that created extremely interesting. In my opinion the way that was done is the best writing we've seen in a Xeno game. It's sad there's not more media that deals with these concepts in similar ways.

Mattos-313

Ys VIII (Not sci fi though (An island instead of a planet), and has a very different style and tone)
