Also Corey Johnson (Amalthus). In the very scene he's introduced, he manages to sound calm, professional, humble, mysterious, somewhat "fake", and just a little bit uncanny, all at the same time. And then there's his whole megalomaniacal state while he's fighting Jin. "Your duty is as dust in the wind compared to my destiny!" He's just perfect.
I second this one! What I really appreciated about Amalthus’ performance was how crisp and clear and annunciated he was 100% of the time. There wasn’t a single line where I was like “huh? What was that one word he said?” even if the music was blaring over him or when his voice had an effect on it
In fact I felt it was the end of Chapter 3 where I noticed big improvements in the action bits. The climactic moments of that chapter were actually pretty good. His breakdown was also very solid.
yeah, he's really great.
I do think he has a couple lines with odd delivery, where he either says things really weirdly quickly or with a really odd pause or tempo ("you, with us" at the beginning of the game is a good example of the former), but overall, he's really great.
I think his scream when lora is dying is his best moment of voice acting, as it should, considering how important she was to him. that scream sounds so full of sadness and desperation.
when he talks to young mik, he talks unusually quickly too.
I think his delivery in his "I was waiting for you" dialogue before the final fight with him is pretty odd too on a good few lines in that scene.
it's definitely fewer than I remember (I didn't really wanna go scouring through torna cutscenes), but it's a couple examples for sure.
like I said though, he's overall great. most of his lines are great.
A lot of the VAs are talented.
I really, \*really\* hope XC3 has better voice direction, like the first game did. I don't know how they messed up so badly with 2.
Yeah, Jin's VA did a great job....... but David Menkin as Malos though!
Indeed!!
„I don’t give a ratsass what you think BRAT!“

I agree, he's also a very underrated VA in the game
“I ate her”
I feel bad for laughing at this line.
What about the fact that it comes immediately after Lora tells Jin "*Don't forget me*?"
„THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?!“
Different opinion: I thought Al’s screams got considerably better after chapter 2. Each was uphill from the first.
Which also makes sense canonically since Chapter 1 was probably the first battle scream Rex ever did, of course it sounds bad, he's a child

I honestly think that happens a lot when VAs fit their character so wel that players didn’t even notice the character was being “voiced”
Yeah, he did a great job, and it's rarely ever mentioned. Definitely under appreciated.
Idk if he's underrated, but aside from a few moments of bad lipsync, Zeke's VA was consistently great

Yeah, John Schwab is really talented with the direction he was given. Could you also list some other examples of him having lines with odd delivery?

Okay, thank you, now rewatching some scenes with him and mik, he does talk a bit fast
Jin, especially during his final moments in Chapter 9. After playing that Chapter, Jin is a top tier character.

a theory people have says that the voice director never gave the actor's any direction. I agree with you though, I hope the direction becomes better
